Sir Bruce Forsyth would be accepting of same-sex couples on Strictly Come Dancing (Picture: BBC)
Strictly Come Dancing’s Bruce Forsyth would be fully behind the decision to welcome same-sex couples on the series according to his wife.
Lady Wilnelia Forsyth, who was married to the show’s original presenter until his death in 2017, has exclaimed that the television legend would have supported the move to have celebrities and professionals of the same gender competing in the series, as well as the programme’s more risque routines.
‘I think Bruce would have definitely liked the show becoming sexier,’ Wilnelia enthused. ‘If you do it with style and respect, what’s the problem? My husband always moved with the times.
‘He would have supported same-sex couples dancing together on the show for the same reason.
‘After all, if same-sex couples are getting married and raising families together, why shouldn’t they dance together? This should be normal now.’

She added to The Sun on Sunday: ‘If he was here now, I think he would be the most accepting person of same-sex dancing.’
Strictly confirmed back in August that they would be proud to welcome same-sex pairings in the future.
‘Strictly Come Dancing is an inclusive show and we are proud to have featured same-sex dancing among the professional dancers in group numbers in previous series,’ a spokesperson told Metro.co.uk at the time.
Johannes Radebe and Giovanni Di Prima performed a same-sex routine earlier in the series (Picture: PA)
‘We are completely open to the prospect of including same-sex pairings between our celebrities and professional dancers in the future, should the opportunity arise.’
Johannes Radebe and Graziano Di Prima finally gave the first same-sex routine on the campest show on British television earlier in the current season.
Thankfully, the response at the time was overwhelmingly positive with those tweeting about the performance almost unanimously being brought to tears.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.

Strictly’s Chris Ramsey has admitted his wife ins’t best pleased with his weight loss (Picture: Instagram/BBC)
Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris Ramsey has revealed that his wife is fuming over his weight loss considering he didn’t once step foot inside a gym.
The 33-year-old contestant, who’s married to Rosie Winter, admitted that his other half isn’t best pleased by his slimmer physique and is ‘annoyed at how he looks’.
‘It is no secret that she is a little bit angry that I have lost so much while doing work,’ Chris said. ‘It’s not like I have had to go to a gym.
‘I’ve got a really good metabolism. I can eat basically what I want and not be huge.
‘She’s very used to being annoyed at how I look. So yeah – just more of that, which just gives me endless joy.’
The comedian continued: ‘Honestly, I put a dress jacket on today that I wear if I am doing a corporate gig or a bit of a posh gig, or hosting awards or something.
‘I put my jacket on today for a VT and I could button it. And I have never been able to button it in my life. Night and day I have lost so much weight, around my face as well. My posture is better.
Chris performed in the Strictly semi-finals last night (Picture: PA)
‘I am looking forward to undoing all that good work over Christmas.’
Chris competed in the Strictly semi-finals last night alongside former EastEnders star Emma Barton, Karim Zeroual and Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher.
After performing an emotional rumba with partner Karen Hauer, the star broke down in tears after admitting to presenter Tess Daly that he found it hard not to get teary by the time the song Don’t Watch Me Cry by Jorja Smith was over.
‘I actually cried at the end there,’ he said. ‘Genuinely I really cried.’
Tess then asked Karen why Chris should make next week’s final, causing the tears to switch on again.
‘As you can see we’re not perfect,’ she said. ‘But you know what? He’s a non-dancer and he made it to the semis. And I think that that little boy who’s at home watching, Robin, will be very proud of you!’

Gabrielle Union wants to make changes to an ‘outdated’ system at America’s Got Talent (Picture: Getty/NBC)
Simon Cowell and his show America’s Got Talent has found itself in a racism row after former judge Gabrielle Union claimed she was told her hair and wardrobe was ‘too black’ for the competition.
And now the Bring It On star is now seeking legal action against Simon’s company Syco, which co-produces America’s Got Talent, with an insider alleging she’s in talks with his people as well as NBC.
They claimed: ‘Gabrielle kept complaining about Simon’s total autonomy on set. There were no other channels to go through to make a complaint about conditions.
‘She was shocked when she was told that her hair and wardrobe was “too black” and she immediately tried to lodge a complaint, but there wasn’t a place to go.’
They continued to the Mail on Sunday: ‘Gabrielle is powerful and wealthy in her own right. She’s not interested in a settlement or having this swept under the rug.

‘This is her #MeToo moment and she’s doing this because she genuinely wants to change an outdated system and wants to make it better for the women who come after her.’
Deadline report that an independent investigator will assess the claims made by Gabrielle.
Earlier this month, America’s Got Talent released a statement to address the drama and stated they were in contact with Gabrielle and her team.
The AGT judging line-up had a revamp this year (Picture: Getty)
The statement said: ‘We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture.
‘We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.’
Gabrielle tweeted after having a meeting about her complaints (Picture: Twitter)
Following that, Gabrielle tweeted and revealed that she’d began meetings to address the situation.
‘We had a lengthy 5-hour, and what I thought to be, productive meeting yesterday,’ she wrote.
‘I was able to, again, express my unfiltered truth. I led with transparency and my desire and hope for real change.’
Gabrielle was embroiled in controversy following her exit from America’s Got Talent last month, when it was claimed she complained of a ‘toxic culture’ and racist jokes being made.

Liam Payne has basically confirmed that we’re two years away from One Direction getting back together again.
The 26-year-old Strip That Down singer announced that he can definitely see the band, which was made up of himself, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, reuniting in the not so distant future.
Speaking on Sunday Brunch, Liam teased: ‘I think at some point we will get back together. I think we will for sure.
‘I don’t know when that is yet, but all I know is that there are at least two years because everyone’s released new music and you have to go and promo. There are at least two years.’
Directioners have been patiently waiting for the band to get back together after they went on hiatus after releasing their sixth studio album back in 2016.

Liam also admitted that he saw Harry on Saturday for the first time in three years.
‘It was really interesting, we hadn’t seen each other for a really long time,’ he said. ‘It was really nice, he’s still the same boy as when I left him which is really sweet, just different with age and whatever else. He’s such a lovely lad.’
Talking about his time in the band, Liam did throw a little bit of shade saying that not everyone got on.
The band became a four-piece after Zayn left in 2015 (Picture: Getty)
‘We literally for five years we were in each other’s pockets,’ he began. ‘The thing I always describe it as is if you imagine an office – and One Direction was my office – there’s one person you don’t really get along with, one person you don’t know very much about, one person you hang out with all the time and someone you’re sort of friends with.
‘That’s a little bit what it was like and I think people have a misconception that we were all friends, but that’s not the case but there’s no bad blood between anyone.’
Sunday Brunch airs on Sundays at 9.30am on Channel 4.

Jim Parsons looks much different to Sheldon Cooper as he stars in new Ryan Murphy series, Hollywood (Picture: Backgrid)
The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons traded in geeky graphic tees for a very professional suit in his new role with Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix show, Hollywood.
The 46-year-old Emmy Award winner was spotted on set wearing a full pinstriped suit, complete with a patterned tie and slicked back hair.
In a later scene, he walked out on set wearing a funky sweater vest, retro shirt and high-waisted trousers.
Watch this space for people dressing up as this for Halloween 2020!
Jim is portraying Hollywood talent agent Henry Willson – a man who played a large role in developing the beefcake craze of the 1950s.
He was known for his young and downright handsome clients, including Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter and Chad Everett.

Jake plays the hunky Rock Hudson and we’re already dying to see it.
And if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, Darren Criss, Jeremy Pope and David Corenswet are also featuring as well as executive producing the show.
While not much is known about the highly-anticipated hit, Murphy did once describe his project as a ‘love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.’
David Corenswet previously told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘It’s 1940s Hollywood, so there’s going to be great clothes and great accents. It’s going to be sexy and optimistic.
‘It’s really about young people and the excitement of young people seeking opportunity.’
We’re sold.
The first season will be set in the 1940s and is expected to take the streaming platform by storm in May 2020.

I’m A Celeb bosses ditched Jacqueline Jossa’s reunion with Dan Osborne (Picture: Getty/Rex)
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! bosses decided to axe a reunion between finalist Jacqueline Jossa and her husband Dan Osborne amid cheating allegations.
According to reports, the show had arranged for the 27-year-old actress to meet with her spouse during Saturday night’s show, however, decided to ditch the plan after they feared meeting with him could ‘really upset her’.
‘The visit would have been really awkward for her,’ an insider said. ‘Bosses couldn’t give her advance notice as it would ruin the surprise, which is the whole point of the reunion segment.
‘But if they didn’t give her a heads-up and she hated that Dan had been sent in it could’ve really upset her.’
The source continued to The Sun: ‘ITV is all about duty of care. They decided that Dan and Jacqueline’s first proper conversation since the dramas emerged should be off-camera and not in front of millions of viewers.’
Dan and Jacqueline have been married for two years (Picture: Instagram)
Chloe, 22, told The Sun she spent the night with Dan and Natalie following a drunken night out in London, after their Celebrity Big Brother appearance.

Dan has blasted reports, and insists they are ‘shocking’ while accusing Chloe of having ‘no morals’ and stating he is now seeking ‘legal advice’.
A rep for Dan told Metro.co.uk: ‘This story is not true and Dan will be seeking legal advice.’
The former EastEnders star has made it down to the final three campmates alongside Andy Whyment and Roman Kemp.

According to reports made by The Sun, his relationship with his co-host Holly Willoughby has become strained over recent months with the publication also alleging that Ruth Langsford has made an official complaint about the king of daytime television’s attitude.
But Phil has seemed unruffled by the allegations of a fallout between him and Holly by sharing a video of them accepting their fifth I Talk Telly Award for Best Daytime Show.
In the clip, he exclaimed: ‘We’ve won again!’
‘I can’t believe it,’ replied Holly. ‘Is this the fifth year?’
‘The fifth year of the I Talk Telly Awards and we’ve won again,’ Phil continued. ‘We can’t believe it. Thank you so much, it’s so lovely. The awards where people who watch the show vote for you are so important.’
Holly chipped in: ‘They’re the most special ones for sure, so thank you.’
Sharing the video on his Twitter, Phil posted a smiling face emoji alongside the words ‘thank you’.

The Sun claim a number of ITV presenters have spoken to them about the allegedly ‘toxic’ atmosphere at This Morning, with one household name reportedly saying: ‘For so long people have been silenced because they are scared for their job.
‘If they speak out publicly about the atmosphere they fear there could be repercussions.’
Ruth Langsford allegedly made a complaint after Phil cut her off (Picture: Rex)
Phil and Holly also apparently clashed when she won a BAFTA for filling in for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celebrity, which Phil didn’t want her to celebrate on This Morning.
A spokesperson for ITV said: ‘It’s deeply disappointing and unfair for Phillip to be the target of this sort of malicious gossip. Phillip is a much respected broadcaster and colleague and this is absolutely not a description of This Morning that we recognise.
‘Holly and Phil are great friends both on and off-screen and are popular among viewers and colleagues alike.’
Meanwhile, Martin Frizell, Editor of This Morning added: ‘I spend hundreds of days a year in their company and what you see is what you get, a genuine friendship from a couple who are both spontaneously funny and professional.
‘We have the smartest viewers watching telly and believe me they would be the first to notice any issues – they haven’t because there are none.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Jeremy Clarkson has watched his sheep having sex as he gets to grips with being a farmer (Picture: ITV/REX)
The Grand Tour star Jeremy Clarkson watches his sheep at all times so they don’t escape from their field, which means he sometimes witnesses some odd moments.
Jeremy is loving his life as a farmer, but admitted that his flock of sheep sometimes get on his wick.
Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, the presenter explained that the ‘vindictive’ animals always thwart his attempts to keep them where they’re supposed to be.
He explained: ‘I am now a farmer and utterly exhausted as a result. It’s a full on farm. At any given moment I know a bit of machinery is gonna cut one of my arms off.
‘Have you ever tried to round up a field of sheep. They’re vindictive. I got up the other morning and they’d escaped. They always escape. You’ve got to get them back into their field. Two hours of solid running around on my own. I don’t have a dog. I tried using a drone. I tried fitting a speaker on it that barked. They don’t move.
‘I cannot wait to eat them.’
Jeremy went on to explain an incident when a couple of rams visited his sheep to impregnate them, while three others simply watched on while they got down to business.
When host Jonathan asked what Jeremy’s excuse was for watching what was happening, he said: ‘If you turn your back on them for a minute they’ll be out of the field again so you have to watch them whatever it is they do.
‘Some of me hates [being a farmer] but a lot of me absolutely adores it. I’m sitting here now in London thinking soon I’ll be able to go back to the farm.’
When he’s not making hay or watching a sheep orgy, Jeremy is still travelling the world with James May and Richard Hammond for season four of The Grand Tour.
The upcoming special sees the trio take to some rough waters in Vietnam.
Jeremy lost contact with his co-stars en route, meaning he arrived at their destination a lot earlier than James and Richard, and he found his leg of the ride mostly smooth sailing (pardon the pun).
It was then he noticed just how rough the conditions were out on the water, but he wasn’t too fussed about his co-stars.
He told The Express: ‘I genuinely didn’t feel particularly threatened, it was really uncomfortable so it was horrible. But then I’ve seen the footage now of what it was like.’
Speaking about his concern for the hard-working crew, he joked: ‘I didn’t care about James and Richard, but the camera guys and the production team, they were really quite scared because those boats were sinking and four fisherman were drowning right by that river.’
The presenter will take to the water in a 1939 wooden river cruiser for the special episode. We feel queasy just reading that, so goodness knows how James felt.
He said at the launch of the new season: ‘I thought it would be fun to learn about them and I knew the scenery would be very beautiful.
‘I thought it would be very tranquil and like a lovely boating holiday but it didn’t work out like that at all. It was utter misery.’
Meanwhile Jeremy explained the new format will appeal to viewers more.
There is no question that people prefer the specials when we whizz off and go and do something incredible, compared to the studio side of it,’ he said.
‘The other problem we have is time. Doing 12 or 13 shows a year is phenomenally time-consuming and it was sort of wiping us out, so now we can just concentrate on the specials and make them even better than they were.’
The trio will also be embarking on a risky 800km journey across Tonle Sap Lake and Mekong Delta.
The Grand Tour presents: Seamen comes to Amazon Prime Video on December 13.

Elephants are in danger of extinction (Picture: BBC)
Seven Worlds, One Planet has ended on a heartbreaking note as Sir David Attenborough and team showed the horrific extent of Africa’s ivory trade.
Animals including rhinos and elephants have been left fighting for survival as cruel poachers catch and kill the creatures for their sought-after ivory.
Mountains of confiscated tusks taken from the animals were shown, piled into hills and representing thousands of animals who have been killed by the “sport” in the space of just one year.
‘Elephants have used their great intelligence to help them survive Africas driest times for millennia, but today they face an even greater threat,’ he announced.
‘It’s thought that as many as 20million elephants once roamed the continent but many have been killed for their tusks. Their ivory used for entirely ornamental purposes. Now just 350,000 elephants remain.’
Sir David, who has narrated this series, then appeared alongside two northern white rhinos to reveal they were the last of their kind, and as they were both female, would be the last ever.
‘When they die, and entire sub-species who inhabited the earth for millions of years would have disappeared forever,’ he declared.
Sir David revealed that this breed of rhino is now technically extinct (Picture: BBC)

Viewers were left heartbroken as the brutal truth was laid out in front of them, with other animals including cheetahs, monkeys and whales coming under threat because of humans.
Taking to Twitter, they all shared their frustrations at the loss of such beautiful creatures.
David Attenborough is sad and now that makes me feel sad 😢
I’m not going to lie, the last line delivered by Sir David Attenborough whilst standing alongside the last two remaining female white rhinoceros made me well up. It’s so overwhelmingly obvious the planet is in crisis #SevenWorldsOnePlanet
#SevenWorldsOnePlanet really brings it home that this planet doesn’t solely belong to us, gotta do better to protect it & wildlife. Will be so devastating if wildlife become extinct in our lifetimes. Don’t want to tell my kids one day that X animal used to exist 10 years ago 😔
Seven Worlds, One Planet has not been afraid to punch viewers in the gut over what the human race has done to affect the animal kingdom on all seven continents.
Starting with Antarctica, the show has tracked the effects of whaling, global warming, palm oil and deforestation, that could leave animals without homes.
Among the featured moments was a baby albatross who almost froze to death after being thrown from its nest, and an orangutan fighting machines as they tore down his habitat.
Seven Worlds, One Planet is available now on DVD, Blu-Ray, and to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is back for season three in the New Year (Picture: Diyah Pera/Netflix)
Netflix has confirmed the start date for season three of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and from the sounds of it Kiernan Shipka’s titular character could be making a deal with the devil.
The series, a spin-off of sorts of Riverdale, follows teenage witch Sabrina – played by Shipka – as she tries to balance her normal life with the supernatural world.
After giving us a Christmas special last year normal service will be resumed as the show’s third full season makes its way to Netflix.
Netflix announced season three will land on the streaming service in January 2020 so fans can see in the new year in spooky style.
The news was revealed in a tweet from the show’s official Twitter account, which read: ‘Knock knock knock on the gates of hell. see you Jan 24, witches.’
It was accompanied by a mysterious video of a figure a red hooded cloak carrying a red lantern, emerging from smoke.
A high-pitched voice whispers: ‘Welcome to hell.’
We have a feeling this might be a much darker season of the show, set to fall in with sinister Satanic dealings as she visits the under world to save Nick (Gavin Leatherwood).
— Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (@sabrinanetflix) December 7, 2019
Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously teased Sabrina’s descent into hell at the Television Critics Association earlier this year.
Speaking to The Wrap he said: ‘I think it’s safe to say that we are going to Hell, yes. We’re going to Hell.
‘It’s very fun. It’s very fun. It’s dangerous, but it’s really fun.’
He was also keeping schtum on whether Sabrina would actually manage to rescue Nick, but the showrunner is a fan of the pairing together so fans can assume it might be a happy ending for them both. Although he likes Sabrina with Harvey (Ross Lynch) too.
Will Sabrina still end up with Harvey at the end of the season? (Picture: Netflix)
‘It’s funny, I love both those guys. I love Gavin and I love Ross. I think probably, I ship both couples,’ he added.
‘I have a soft spot for Harvey because he’s Sabrina’s longtime boyfriend in the comic books, but I cannot deny that Sabrina and Nick are a great, potent match.
‘So yes, there is reason to hope for Harvey and Sabrina shippers. But Sabrina and Nick are pretty undeniable.’
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina returns 24 January.

Chris Ramsey has been knocked out of Strictly (Picture: PA)
Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris Ramsey has been eliminated from the series just one week before the hotly-anticipated final.
The comedian and his partner Karen Haeur were voted off after going head-to-head with Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden in the deaded dance-off, with judges Craig Revel-Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli and Motse Mabuse all choosing to save the children’s presenter.
‘Wow, I am very proud of myself, Chris told presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
‘I never ever thought I would make it past week two, genuinely I had no expectations whatsoever, I am astounded and I’ve got to thank Karen, she is just amazing and is just amazing and so patient it’s crazy!’
Chris continued: ‘She is awesome. I had sleepless nights in the build-up and there is no-one else who can have made it what it has been.’

Glenda Jackson plays pensioner Maud who is on the trail of a mystery in Elizabeth Is Missing (Picture: BBC)
Veteran acting legend Glenda Jackson is set to return to TV on Sunday night in BBC One’s one-off thriller Elizabeth Is Missing.
The TV movie sees the Oscar-winning star in the role of Maud, an 80-year-old woman battling dementia who is caught up in a mystery surrounding her best friend Elizabeth (Maggie Steed).
The film’s actually an adaptation of a best-selling novel – but who wrote the original book?
Here’s what you need to know…
Who wrote the book Elizabeth Is Missing?
Emma Healey published Elizabeth Is Missing in 2014
Elizabeth is Missing was the debut novel by writer Emma Healey.
It was published in 2014, became a Sunday Times best-seller and went on to win the Costa First Novel award.
Healey said in an article for Alzheimer’s Research UK that she was inspired to write the book after seeing her own grandmother battle with dementia.
‘When I began to write Elizabeth Is Missing there wasn’t so much fiction about dementia and I was looking for a way to explore the subject in a meaningful manner,’ she explained.
‘To be honest, I wasn’t really thinking of other readers at that moment, it was a selfish beginning. I just wanted better ways to guess what my grandmother and other members of my family were going through, how they might feel, what they might be thinking.’
What is Elizabeth Is Missing about?
Elizabeth Is Missing tells the story of pensioner Maud (Jackson), who becomes convinced her best friend Elizabeth has disappeared and sets out to try and solve the mystery of her whereabouts – despite facing the fact that nobody believes her.
As she becomes increasingly confused with dementia she is also haunted by memories of a similar occurrence in her past when, as a teenager, her older sister Sukey also mysteriously vanished.
Who is in the cast of Elizabeth Is Missing?
Jackson is returning to TV for the first time in 25 years for the drama (Picture: BBC)
The cast also includes Nell Williams, Mark Stanleym, Neil Pendleton and Maggie Steed.
Elizabeth Is Missing is on BBC One on Sunday night at 9pm.

Lyra could be in even more danger (Picture: HBO/BBC)
There’s only two episodes to go of His Dark Materials, and just as one problem is solved, the gang are thrown straight into another.
Lee Scoresby (Lin Manuel Miranda) and Lyra (Dafne Keen) are now heading towards to Lord Asriel, with a newly recovered Roger in tow, when everything went wrong when their plane came under attack.
Now, lives, loves and revenge are the front of everyone’s minds as they try and save their world once again… with most completely unaware there may be more than one universe in the balance.
Here’s everything we’re waiting for ahead of the next episode.
***Warning: Spoilers Ahead***
No rest for Lyra as she’s literally thrown from one problem to the next (Picture: BBC)
What happened to Lyra?
Your leading lady being thrown from a plane into the clouds below isn’t exactly the best thing to happen for someone who’s supposed to take care of her.
Lee is understandably torn up about what happened, despite her best efforts to keep her safe – but everyone knows its rule 101 that you don’t kill off the person whose presence is literally essential to the entire plot.
So where has she ended up and what will she get up to to return to Roger and Lee?
What will Mrs Coulter do now?
Mrs Coulter’s (Ruth Wilson) evil plans to sever children from their daemons has been left in ruins thanks to Lyra and the Gyptians attack on the lab facility.
Now she has no choice but to tell the Magisterium what exactly happened, and they’re not really the forgiving kind.
Coulter has to think fast on her feet (Picture: BBC/HBO)
But Coulter is a trickster who can think quickly on her feet, and there’s no way she’ll reveal what happened without there being some kind of plan in action.
Question is, what will it be and how will the Magisterium take the news?
What will happen to the daemon-less children?
Roger and the Gyptians were able to save a numerous children with their invasion of the facility, but for a lot of the kids it’s too late.
Having been severed from their daemons, which contain their soul, the kids are now in a zombie-like state, unable to feel or do anything with no life in them at all.
The children now need to restart their lives (Picture: BBC)
Vowing to return them home, it’s going to be a lot to live a life like that, if parents want their kids back at all.
Will they be able to live any semblance of a life without their daemons around? Or will they all pass away like Billy Costa did?
Who is the mysterious floating woman?
The gang got an unexpected helping hand with their rescue mission when a ghostlike woman in black appeared out of nowhere and put those who work for the Magisterium down.
Later on, she reappeared to talk to Lee Scoresby, with a particular interest in the wellbeing and safety of Lyra, so she can complete a mission they have seen of her.
Who is she? Is there more than one woman? And what do they know about Lyra’s fate?
Lee has vowed to protect Lyra (Picture: BBC/HBO)
What is a cliff-ghast and why did a group of them come for Scoresby’s plane?
Lyra, Scoresby, Iorek and Roger were on the home straight in their balloon when all of a sudden things were thrown into chaos with a cliff-ghast attacking them.
Punching holes into their aircraft and up through the floor, it ended in disaster when Lyra was sucked through and fell to the world below.
It’s enough to kill anyone… but why did they come after them? Are they trying to prevent them getting to Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) or do they have their own plan in mind?
His Dark Materials continues Sundays at 8pm on BBC One.

Jacqueline Jossa bravely faced her worst fear in her final I’m A Celebrity Bushtucker trial (Picture: ITV/REX)
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star Jacqueline Jossa was faced with one last grim challenge before the winner of this year’s series was crowned.
In her last Bushtucker Trial she had to face her fear of spiders yet again, only this time she got a bit more up close and personal with them.
To win starters for the camp, a drink and a special treat, she had to face the Stake Out trial.
She had to lie down in a giant star with her arms and legs tied down, and stay on the star for 10 minutes.
Of course she wasn’t alone, with a selection of jungle critters joining her every two minutes.
For the first two she had fish guts and mealworms on her left arm, but the actress tried to distract herself by thinking about what she was going to have for her dinner. It worked a treat and she fetched her first star.
Then a delightful mix of crickets, scorpions and cockroaches were put onto a right arm but she got through the next two minutes and got another star.

Green ants were placed on her left leg but she endured that as well and earned another star.
Cockroaches were put onto her right leg but she battled through and got another star, however her biggest obstacle came when spiders were placed onto her head.
The ex-soap star tried to stay calm, and for her final minute she had to carefully hold a spider in her mouth.

Jacqueline herself has admitted she is terrified of spiders, so managing to carry out the last part of the trial was a huge accomplishment.
After earning her last star, she joked to Ant and Dec: ‘You’re out of order.’ Dec laughed and said: ‘You did it.’
Jacqueline was happy that she had scored prizes for herself and her fellow finalists Roman Kemp and Andy Whyment.
Fans shared their love and respect for the star on Twitter after she smashed the trial.
Omg how has she just done that Jac Jossa deserves to be queen. … @DannyO your wife is a legend. #imaceleb
She previously faced down her fear in an earlier trial where spiders were poured into a glass helmet on her head.
Afterwards he former EastEnders star was clearly shaken, and teared up as she was hugged by her fellow campmates including Ian Wright, Caitlyn Jenner and James Haskell.
Dec said: ‘Can you believe you’ve just done that?’
She replied: ‘Literally the whole time…I can’t talk. My mouth’s so dry.
‘The whole time I’ve been talking about doing this, that’s the one thing, the head when you can’t flick them off your head. And spiders. I can’t even get a spider out of my toilet!’

Record-breaking Netflix show Money Heist is coming back for season four next year, which is good news for celebrity fan Stephen King.
The author tweeted earlier this year that Money Heist ‘left him hanging’ and demanded to know when new episodes would be arriving.
The Spanish thriller, known by its original title of La Casa De Papel, smashed all time records for Netflix after being viewed over 34million times.
Its official Twitter account shared King’s urgent fan question on Twitter and replied by dropping the date for season four.
The tweet read: ‘Gold things come to those who wait. Until April 3rd, that is. #LCDP4.’
Along with the message was a video of all the main players in their trademark red outfits giving sinister stares into the distance.
It included the tagline: ‘Prepárate para el caos’ which means ‘Prepare for chaos’. Bring it on!
The streaming service previously revealed that 34,355,956 accounts had tuned into the third part of the Spanish-language series within the space of a week.
Its original title was changed to Money Heist for English-speaking audiences ahead of the launch of season one.
In August it was named the most-watched Netflix series or film of all time in any language – and the highest non-speaking English show ever.
Speaking about the achievement, director Diego Ávalos said: ‘We are proud of bringing stories that are made in Spain, to the world.’
‘It has been loved by fans all around the world because of the authenticity and originality of the storytelling,’ he added.
Money Heist is centered on El Professor, a ‘professional criminal mastermind’, who puts together a group of thieves with the aim of carrying out the perfect heist.
His plan is to lock themselves, with hostages in the Royal Mint of Spain and make off with 2.4bn Euros.
At the same time El Professor keeps watch over his recruits from afar and manipulates the police into staying away from the building.
The who job takes place over the course of 11 days, the time it will take the thieves to print the billions of Euros they’re after.
Will they pull it off? There are a fair few obstacles in their way throughout…
Money Heist season four arrives 3 April on Netflix.

The radio presenter was put in a pit with over 50 snakes in his final Bushtucker Trial but even that wasn’t enough to save the 26-year-old.
Heading to the Australian camp, hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly shared the news, after the British public voted for their favourites to win the crown.
Roman was in the final three with Jac and Andy (Picture: Rex)
‘I’ve never had more fun… I couldn’t be more grateful,’ Roman told the hosts as he left the jungle and a sizzle reel of his best bits played.
He said it was the best experience of his life, as he added: ‘It’s a strange place down there, it’s an unnatural thing that forms a family within three weeks.’
Roman came in third (Picture: Rex Features)
Now we wait and see who the public has been voting for to be the 2019 winner, with two actors in the running to come out on top.
Roman did have cause to celebrate, as Ant and Dec revealed he’d won the most stars of any camper in the last five years.
‘I was always so shocked, there are people out there that would do the trials and say “prepare to get nothing”,’ Roman said, of his warnings by past celebrities.
Of who he thinks will win, he admitted that while he loves Andy, he’d love to see Jacqueline take the crown.
Earlier tonight the gang did their final Bushtucker Trials, with Jac acing a particularly heinous challenge that saw her tied down and being covered in creepy crawlies and guts – as well as Huntsman spiders.
I’m A Celebrity is available to watch on ITV Hub.
