Here’s everything you need to know about the future of the groundbreaking drama.
When was Squid Game season 3 confirmed?
In July 2024, months before the release of Squid Game season two, it was confirmed that the show had been renewed for a third and final season.

The announcement was made as the release date for season two was made official.
In a statement, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his excitement for the future of the drama, having become a phenomenon following its debut in 2021.
‘I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season,’ he said in a letter addressed to fans.
When is the Squid Game season 3 release date?
While we don’t know the exact date that the third and final season is coming out, it’s been claimed that the release date was accidentally leaked.

Before season two launched, fans were aware that the third outing would be coming in 2025.
After the latest episodes came out, it was claimed in posts circulating on social media that Netflix leaked that the third season would be arriving on the platform on June 27 this year.
However, this has not been officially confirmed by the streaming giant.
Creator Dong-hyuk previously teased about the final season: ‘The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.’
What did fans think of Squid Game season 2?
It’s no surprise that Squid Game’s second season shocked viewers and critics to their core once again.

Some fans even declared that it was better the second time around.
‘I actually enjoyed it more than season 1! Loved what we got, and the new characters were dope,’ Darius wrote in a comment published on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.
‘What a masterpiece, much better as season 1! The plot, the games.… omg I’m dying to watch season 3,’ Chris added.
Josh also remarked that the drama was ‘one of a kind’, and yet had been ‘brilliant’ a second tgime around.
In Metro‘s review of Squid Game season two, we found that the show felt even more tragic and harrowing this time around, given Gi-hun knows exactly what he’s doing entering the game for a second time.
Despite explaining to his fellow competitors what will happen if they continue – that the majority of them will die cruel and premature deaths – many of them still want to continue in the hope that they’ll survive and win a life-changing sum of money in the end.
Squid Game is available to watch on Netflix.
