Doctor Who have cast the show’s first transgender star in the form of comedian Bethany Black.
Bethany Black will appear in the ninth episode of the upcoming series nine although details on what her character’s role in the story entails remain under wraps.
Viewers will remember Black from her role as a transgender character Helen in another Russell T Davies hit Tofu, Cucumber and Banana which aired on Channel 4 last year.
