People who claim benefits already have an undeservedly bad reputation among many circles and the last thing that they need is yet another series of programmes demonising them as criminal and workshy.
I’ve tried many times to try and see the bigger picture of Benefits Street. I’ve attempted to buy in to the mantra that it is portraying a community spirit where the hard done by stick together through thick and thin.
But no matter what angle it takes, the intention of Benefits Street appears to be plain – to paint a salacious, stereotype laden picture of those on the dole.
