Here’s the moment that The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah took to the host’s chair for the first time – and he wasted no time in paying tribute to Jon Stewart as he did.
The South African0-born comedin called joining the show ‘surreal’ and admitted it must be ‘as strange for you as it is for me’ – before heading in to a witty monologue which set the tone for what was to come.
‘Jon Stewart was more than just a late night host,’ he admitted. ‘He was often our voice, our refuge and in many ways our political dad, and it’s weird because dad has left.’
‘Now it feels like the family has a new stepdad – and he’s black.’
