The BBC’s economic reporter Robert Peston may be jumping ship to ITV but it looks like his colleagues will do whatever they can to make him stay.

In a spoof radio appeal on Radio 4’s PM programme, Jonathan Dimbleby, Huw Edwards and the show’s presenter Eddie Mair all offered the esteemed presenter their jobs – and Eddie even went so far as to sell his kidney if it were an issue of money.

‘The very suggestion of Robert wanting to leave the BBC makes me want to cry my eyes out, literally,’ Eddie told listeners.
