Born without any arms, Brett Nielsen quickly became the face of the infamous Thalidomide disaster in the late 50s and the 60s.
He was the first baby born without arms due to Thalidomide in Australia and an award-winning documentary aired in 1965 which followed Brett’s development and day to day life as a 4-year-old struggling with his condition.
Now, the BBC have caught up with Brett, who is a composer and motivational speaker, to see how he is getting on 50 years later – and he is more of an inspiration than ever.
Roger Graef, who made the extraordinary first documentary in the 60s, leads the programme and finds that Brett is a successful record producer and a loving single dad.
