It was Lily Allen in 2013 and Tom Odell in 2014 but this year, department store John Lewis have picked a little-known Norwegian singer called Aurora to sing the haunting theme tune for the Christmas advert.
You may be familiar with the song itself because it’s one of Britain’s most beloved songs, partly thanks to the Gallagher brothers lyrics (‘I’ve been lost I’ve been found but I don’t feel down’) and because for three years it welcomed us into the home of The Royle Family, a scruffy family with a fixation on their TV.
But unlike Lily and Tom, you’re probably going to be unfamiliar with this new voice so without further ado… who is Aurora?
Her full name Aurora Aksnes, she’s 19-years-old and she was picked after months of searching for the perfect voice.
