Classic bro meets bro sitcom Peep Show is officially back for potentially its final series – but did episode one deliver the goods?
It packed a punch – there were cracking lines, topical references, a bit of mild sleeping bag torture and plenty of Super Hans.
But nobody urinated in an inappropriate place or had sex with anyone’s ex-girlfriend or sister, so where was the awkward hilarity coming from?
Well, what we needed to see was slapstick, self-loathing, drugs, bad TV, failure with women and other predictable Mark and Jez behaviours (usually passive-aggressiveness turning to physical violence).
And we also needed to see them living together because, well, that’s Peep Show.
The action picked up six months after the end of the last series which saw Jez and Mark fall out big time.
