The BBC Trust has confirmed that youth channel BBC3 will be closed by February 2016, despite huge opposition.
The channel, which has been running for 12 years and was the home to popular shows including Little Britain, Bad Education, and Don’t Tell The Bride, will then become an online-only service from March 2016.
Reports suggested that the BBC expected to lose nearly 1million younger viewers after research showed that up to 80 per cent of the audience who use no other BBC service could switch off.
