Camberwick Green is 50: Here are 14 of Trumptonshire’s most memorable moments

You won’t believe it, but it’s been fifty years since the picturesque county of Trumptonshire first appeared on our screens.

Spawning three stop-motion series – Camberwick Green (1966), Trumpton (1967) and Chigley (1969) – and a host of classic characters such as Dr Mopp, Lord Belborough and the Trumpton Fire Brigade, the programmes were the brainchild of Gordon Murray, with songs by Freddie Phillips and Alison Prince, and narration by the legendary Brian Cant.

Purely for the sake of nostalgia, here are some of the highlights – and one or two imitations.
