Ofcom have confirmed that they will not be investigating Celebrity Big Brother for Winston McKenzie’s homophobic comments or the airing of Angie Bowie’s reaction to David Bowie’s death.
‘We are satisfied that Channel 5 broadcast clear and appropriate warnings about the potentially offensive content, and intervened in heated exchanges and situations at appropriate times,’ a spokesperson for Ofcom said.
‘We have also taken into account the audience’s expectations of this well-established reality format, and that the series is aired after the watershed.’
The regulator received over 400 complaints after Winston, a former UKIP candidate, made his comments just hours after entering the house earlier in January.
