Tonight saw celebrities Peter Andre, Shaun Wallace, Hayley Tamaddon, Tessa Sanderson and Hugo Taylor eat pizza, burgers, and all sorts of supposedly guilty foods as part of ITV’s The Junk Food Experiment.

One other name on that roster was Nadine Dorries, the Tory MP who has appeared on I’m A Celebrity in the past too.

Nadine Dorries is seen pinching her new muffin-tops, and offering fired chicken to a bemused Jacob Ress Mogg, while likely trying to prove the righteous point that eating junk food all day every day is bad for you.

If you knew that already, but want to know more about Dorries instead, we’ve got you covered.

Singer Peter Andre, The Chase mastermind and barrister Shaun Wallace, politician Nadine Dorries, actress Hayley Tamaddon, Olympian Tessa Sanderson and TV personality Hugo Taylor bravely give their bodies over to science to take part.

Nadine Dorries was born Nadine Vanessa Bargery on 21 May 1957 – making her 61 years old at present.

Growing up in Liverpool and Runcorn, her first job was as a trainee nurse in Warrington.

She worked her way up, and in the 1980s went to head up a community school in Zambia where her then-husband Paul Dorries owned a copper mine.

In 1987, Nadine founded Company Kids, a childcare service. When that was sold to BUPA in 1998, she went on to work as a director for the healthcare provider.

In terms of politics, she was originally unsuccessful in the 2001 general election, but was elected in 2005 in the safe seat of Mid-Bedfordshire, with a majority of 11,355.

She has kept the seat, but been involved in various scandals from suggesting that benefit claimants should be reported to the DWP for tweeting excessively, and for claiming a £24,222 Additional Costs Allowance on what wasn’t her main home for a period of time.

Dorries has released various novels over the years as part of a reported six-figure book deal. She has also appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2012, and was the first to be voted off the show.

Due to the fact she entered the show without party officials’ permission, she temporarily had the Tory party whip removed.

Dorries was married to her husband Paul until 2007. The couple have three daughters together.
