Olivia Colman has returned to work on The Crown following her phenomenal streak of wins during this awards season.
The newly-appointed Oscar winner left her statuette at home and donned the Queen’s crown as she joined Tobias Menzies to shoot new scenes for series three of the Netflix favourite.
Shooting in London, Olivia transformed into Queen Elizabeth II as she shot in London’s Royal College of Physicians.
Beaming to the crowd around her, things don’t look too rosy for the Royal and her husband, Prince Phillip, as no sooner had they got in the car, the cracks in their happy façade begin to show.
Olivia was seen looking downhearted and vacant in a sad moment of the star driving by, though what could have affected the Queen we will have to wait to find out.
The new series will span from 1964 to 1976 – a vital 12-year period for the family.
Among the things Queen Elizabeth has to deal with is a young Prince Charles assuming more responsibility within the family – and is introduced to Camilla Shand (soon-to-be Parker-Bowles) for the first time.
Meanwhile her sister Margaret’s marriage to Lord Snowdon begins to break down in the public eye, and ends with her taking a toyboy lover once their divorce goes through.
While things aren’t going smoothly for the monarch, Olivia has been nothing but on the up after winning her first Oscar for playing another Queen in The Favourite.
She celebrated her win at the Academy Awards in the best way possible – renting out a party bus and living it large with her mates.
Take a look back on her glittering career here.
The Crown season 3 will air on Netflix later this year.
