ITV soap Coronation Street is hoping to help promote healthy eating by cutting out all scenes of naughty foods and adding in new scenes of characters eating fruit and veg.

The move is part of a plan by broadcasters to place healthy-living scenes into their programmes in order to stave off government plans to ban all advertising of junk foods before 9pm.
