Tony Warren MBE, the man who created Coronation Street, has died aged 79.
The acclaimed writer passed away peacefully last night surrounded by his loving friends after a short illness, leaving actors past and present and the production team heartbroken. Tony remained involved with Corrie right up until he died, acting as a consultant on the show.
Tony is survived by his cousin Roy, his loving and devoted friends and his colleagues at Coronation Street who in later years became like family to him.
