The soap world is in mourning today following the loss of one of the main pioneers of the genre.
Tony Warren, the man who created Coronation Street, died yesterday evening surrounded by his much loved friends following a short illness. He was aged 79.
He maintained a significant input in the soap right up until his death, often visiting set and giving feedback on storylines and performances.
Coronation Street’s sister soaps have united to pay tribute to Warren, recognising the fact that none of the shows would likely exist without his creation of Corrie.
