Strictly Come Dancing 2019 hopeful James Cracknell has been involved in a minor road accident as he prepares for the new series to kick off.
Luckily, the Olympic & World Rowing Champ seems to have escaped with no injuries except for some ‘road rash’ and a ‘bust finger’.
Taking to Twitter, the 47-year-old posted a video to fans about the incident with the caption: ‘Slight wobble – literally – in my @bbcstrictly preparations. Luckily only a bit of road rash and damaged ego – but I need to get ready for the latter. #daddancing #sharetheroad.’
Speaking into the video, he explains he had an ‘altercation with a minicab driver in London,’ while riding his bike named ‘Jake the Snake’.
‘It was nobody’s fault really, bit of a bust finger and some road rash on my back but ok,’ he said.
‘Good thing there was no street furniture around for me to fall into, I was also wearing a helmet and I wasn’t listening to music so I could concentrate and was focused on what was ahead.’
James urged his followers when cycling, riding a motorbike or driving a car to ‘stay absolutely focused’.
He then joked: ‘I have more chance of winning the Tour [de France] than winning Strictly Come Dancing, but, in for a penny!’
The athlete was the 14 contestant announced for this year’s line-up.
‘I’m really looking forward to being a part of Strictly this year,’ James said when he was announced.
‘Having spent so many years mucking around in a rowing boat with big men in tight lycra, it’s time I learned a new skill.
‘I need to apologise to my kids in advance for the embarrassment.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
