New pictures have been released showing Phoebe Waller-Bridge playing Fleabag for the final time.

The actress and writer is saying goodbye to the acclaimed show in style, as she performs one last five-week run at the Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End, following on from the success of its television adaptation.

In photos obtained by Evening Standard, Phoebe can be seen in her costume of a red sweater, black trousers, and patent shoes, as she addressed the audience during a passionate monologue.

Fleabag first premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013, and was derived from a challenge set by one of Phoebe’s friends to create a 10-minute sketch for a stand up storytelling night.

She later took the show to the Soho Theatre in London, and soon after adapted it into a television series for BBC Three, which premiered in 2016.

And as well as writing the TV series, Phoebe also starred in the show as well as the titular character.

A second series was subsequently broadcast this year on BBC One, and has attracted critical acclaim, as well as being nominated for 11 Emmy Awards.

Phoebe recently admitted that series two ‘almost didn’t happen’, as the first series ‘had a proper end in her mind’.

She also confessed to ‘getting the shakes’ as the TV series came to an end, as she admitted to ‘working herself to the ground’.

Speaking on her podcast, she said: ‘I got better at Fleabag but I was still having shakes at the final take because I was so, so, so tired.

‘I work myself to the ground. I am really hard on myself when I am doing it.

‘You need to give yourself permission to stop. No one is going to say that for you because everyone is like: “You’ll be fine”.’

The final run of Fleabag ends on 14 September, and although most tickets have already sold out, you can still win a chance at seeing the show through a daily ticket lottery.

There will also be a National Theatre Live broadcast across cinemas on 12 September.
