One of the TV world’s more challenging reality shows is back on our screens on Sunday night, as another crop of survivalists prepare to face Bear Grylls’ The Island.
The show’s been around for five years now, appearing in both regular and celebrity versions, with contestants having to fend for themselves after they’re dumped on a remote island with just a few basics to keep them going.
This time though there’s a twist which promises to shake things up thoroughly – and the show’s renaming as Treasure Island With Bear Grylls might just be a giveaway as to what’s going to happen.
But what time does it all kick off and what’s different this time?
Here’s what you need to know…
What time is Treasure Island With Bear Grylls on Channel 4?
Treasure Island With Bear Grylls kicks off on Channel 4 on Sunday night at 9pm.
There are six instalments in total, so you can expect to see them over the next five Sundays at the same time.
And of course if you miss any episodes you can catch up with them on 4od.
How does Treasure Island With Bear Grylls differ from The Island?
While the basic premise of the show is the same as The Island – with 12 people being packed off to a remote Pacific location to survive for five weeks – there’s a new incentive to keep them there.
What’s that, you may ask? Well it sees bundles of cash to the total of £100,000 being dropped by helicopter on to the island for the contestants to find.
They can either share what they find with their fellow islanders or keep it for themselves – but anyone who leaves the island before the five weeks are up forfeits any cash they might have found.
Now that’s what we call fiendish.
