Netflix film Tall Girl divided opinions before it was even released, but now fans are getting riled about the main character’s height.
The new movie follows Jodi (Ava Michelle), a self-conscious 16-year-old girl who’s made to feel insecure about her height, and now fans believe that the character shouldn’t worry about standing at 6ft 1.
For reference, Jodi’s character is only three inches taller than model Gigi Hadid and half an inch taller than comedian Miranda Hart.
Meanwhile, Love Island’s Ovie Soko towers over her at 6ft 7in.
Taking their opinions to Twitter, viewers slammed: ‘They could have made the tall girl in the Netflix movie the most unrealistic height and they really chose six foot one…’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘When I realize I’m the same height as the girl in the Tall Girl movie on Netflix. Sis, it ain’t that bad.’
Others rightly pointed out that no one has the right to judge another person’s journey and thanked the streaming giant for making the film.
‘Being a tall girl and watching #TallGirl makes me happy to see this kind of movie out there….thanks #Netflix,’ wrote one.
Fans called out Jodi’s height and that the film made her look so much taller compared to her friends

@netflix acts like the girl in the movie #tallgirl is a giant, Then I read the description and it says she is only 1,85m/6ft. pic.twitter.com/fZBG0XBwmb

6 ft 1 is pretty tall for a girl but why does Tall Girl act like every other high schooler is an elf. The average height of a teen is like 5.5ft, theyd only be like 6 inches smaller than her pic.twitter.com/dAnqdUMcyv

Just watched #TallGirl on @netflix and was so disappointed by it. I am tall (standing at 6ft). The fact that NO ONE at her school was her height was unbelievable. What, no sports team? That speech at the end…why? It was so unnecessary and anything but empowering. pic.twitter.com/0El6dvTJMU

Others thanked Netflix for shining a light on being tall
@avamichelle2002 just watched #TallGirl the movie spoke to me. I feel for you, I'm 5'9 1/2 and sometimes it can be hard being tall. All my friends are short & you feel like you're just there & like people are staring. Thank you for sharing your story! I felt it on a spiritual lvl

As a girl who’s 6ft, the Netflix film Tall Girl is so incredibly relatable. I went through high school always feeling like the odd one out and the only thing anyone would notice about me was my height, it was so belittling…
