Dan Walker suffered major embarrassment on this morning’s BBC Breakfast when he accidentally held up a newspaper clipping showing a lady in her underwear.
The 42-year-old presenter was eager to show his co-host Sally Nugent an image of a Yorkshire pudding that resembled a dog that he’d discovered when flicking through this morning’s headlines, however failed to realise what was printed on the back.
As Dan waited to reveal his findings, he held the back of the cutting at the camera giving audiences an eyeful of a model in a bra and knickers. Awkward.
It wasn’t until towards the end of his episode hat he noticed his error and addressed it publicly on Twitter, writing to his 578,200 followers: ‘Note to self: ALWAYS CHECK THE BACK.’
Unsurprisingly, viewers were in stitches over Dan’s error and wasted no time in calling him out on social media, with one suggesting: ‘Next time you carefully fold a newspaper to show an article you might want to check what’s on the back.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘@BBCBreakfast does @mrdanwalker realise what’s on the back of that newspaper clipping?’
After Dan showed the hilarious picture of the savoury side, he added: ‘I had a bit of ham once.
‘I thought it looked like John Major but it didn’t.’
This isn’t the first blunder to hit the BBC Breakfast gang in recent months.
Back in April, Louise Minchin was left red-faced when her phone went off while live on air.
The host, 50, was left mortified as her device started blasting music from her new podcast but took the incident in her stride.
She gasped: ‘Goodness me, sorry. God, that is so embarrassing. How have I done that?’
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
