Game Of Thrones had been set for a big night at the 71st annual Emmy Awards after picking up a record number of nominations this year.
The show, which came to an end after eight seasons earlier this year, had no less than 32 nods in seven different categories – with stars including Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke among those picking up nods.
But in a night which was dominated by Fleabag and also saw big wins for the likes of Killing Eve, Chernobyl and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, just how many of its nominations resulted in wins?
Here’s how the GoT contingent got on…
How many awards did Game of Thrones win at the Emmys?
Despite heading into the ceremony with so many nominations, Game Of Thrones went home with just two awards on the night.
However they were two big prizes, with the show picking up best drama series, while Peter Dinklage once again won best supporting actor for his role as Tyrion Lannister.
The latter win was pretty significant, as it’s the fourth time he’s won an Emmy for playing Tyrion – setting a record for the most number of supporting actor wins ever.
He also went on to break the ceremony’s ‘no swearing’ rule in his acceptance speech, saying: ’10 years of absolute sweat, but 10 years of the most incredible, talented, funniest motherf*****s.’
Knowing he would get in trouble, he declared: ‘Hey, it’s over. I don’t care!’ before adding: ‘It’s been about 10 years, all said and done, from the moment I met [series creators] David [Benoiff] and Dan [Weiss] till now. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew that David and Dan were quite brilliant.
‘We did nothing but sweat, we did nothing but laugh. Dave and Dan, we literally walked through fire and ice for you—literally—and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.’
Which other acting nominations did Game Of Thrones receive?
Other cast members nominated on the night included Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams and Gwendoline Christie for best supporting actress in a drama, while Alfie Allen and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau were nominated for best supporting actor in a drama.
Meanwhile Emilia Clarke was in the running for best actress in a drama – losing to Jodie Comer in Killing Eve – and Kit Harington was nominated for best actor in a drama series.
