Simon Cowell wasn’t impressed with the return of magician Ben Hart on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, believing he ‘played it safe’.
The 28-year-old magician auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, where he made it through to the final and finished in third place behind Colin Thackery and Marc Spellmann.
In a swift comeback, Ben returned to compete against acts from across the world on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, although his twenty pound note disappearing act didn’t exactly go down a storm with Simon.
Speaking after his performance, Simon said: ‘Ben, first of all, thanks so much for coming back.
‘Let me be brutally honest with you Ben. When you are competing with the rest of the world, having gone through the show this year, you’ve got to up your game, you didn’t in my opinion.
‘In fact, it was not as good as what you did I think a few months ago. You have amazing imagination Ben, for whatever reason you played it safe tonight.
‘I’m not voting but I don’t think that’s enough to get you through to the final.’
David Walliams, however, wasn’t exactly in agreement with Simon, replying: ‘What a load of absolute rubbish.
‘The thing that makes him so brilliant is he’s so subtle and he draws you in. He’s not coming out singing and dancing and kicking his legs with fireworks attached to his ankles, he draws you in because he’s a true artist.
‘He made me believe in magic and I don’t even like magic that much. But I love this guy.’
There’s a bunch of past Britain’s Got Talent acts on the latest show, including Collabro, Bars And Melody, and Alex Magala.
