Alec Baldwin returned to Saturday Night Live as President Donald Trump to kick off the sketch show’s 45th season.
In the opening of the new episode, the president made panicked phone calls some of his friends with clout as he worried about being impeached.
The cold open referenced the whistleblower scandal as Trump spoke to Kanye, played by Chris Redd, Kim Jong-un, played by Bowen Yang, and Liev Schreiber, who was playing himself.
In the sketch, the president hits up his ‘urbans’, Kanye and Don King, played by Kenan Thompson, and offers to get people out of jail in exchange for their help.
Kanye tells Tump: ‘I don’t think we can be fam no more fam.’
Don King adds: ‘This whole impeachment thing is hurting our brand.’
Trump replied: ‘I need my urbans! Who do you need out of jail this time? That little girl Terikyi 69?’.
He then decided to give Liev a call to help get him out of this mess, but mistakes him for his ‘fixer’ TV character Ray Donovan.
The actor says: ‘I told you Mr. President, Ray Donovan is a fictional character. I’m Liev Schreiber the actor.’
After asking to talk to John Wick, Keanu Reeves’ fictional assassin, he then wonders if Liam Neeson is free to help him out.
Liev quips: ‘Oh, actually Liam might do it.’
Comedian Bowen, who is a newcomer to the show this season, put on his best Kim Jong-un impression to give fretting Trump some advice.
He says: ‘Do you have a big ocean in your country? OK, send whistleblower to the bottom of there, Trump.’
Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Mikey Day and Alex Moffat also appeared in the sketch as Rudy Giulliani, William Barr and Trump’s sons Don Jr and Eric respectively.
