While The Apprentice may be welcoming the usual line-up of Lord Sugar, Claude Littner and Karren Brady back to the fray, it’s a different story over on spin-off show You’re Fired.
Because that’s got itself a new host for 2019, with comedian Tom Allen stepping in where previous host Rhod Gilbert left off, to analyse that week’s show and ask all those awkward questions to the fired candidates.
Tom might well be a familiar face to many – but just who is he and where have you seen him before?
Here’s what you need to know…
How old is Tom Allen and how is he best known?
Tom is 36 years old, is from Bromley and has made a name for himself as a stand-up comedian.
His big break came in 2005 when he won the UK comedy newcomer award So You Think You’re Funny as well as the BBC’s New Comedy Award – going on to support the likes of Josh Widdicombe, Sarah Millican, Romesh Ranganathan and Michael McIntyre.
He’s also headlined his own show at Edinburgh as well as touring the UK in 2017 and 2018, which included two stints at London’s Soho Theatre.
What else has Tom Allen presented?
Even if you’ve not had the chance to catch Tom live, you may yet recognise him as he’s one of the hosts of Bake Off spin-off show Bake Off: The Professionals.
He’s presented two series of that show so far on Channel 4, joining former Bake Off quarter-finalist Liam Charles in the series, which had its most recent run in May.
That’s not his only brush with Bake Off mind, as he’s also a regular contributor to An Extra Slice.
Why is Tom Allen replacing Rhod Gilbert on You’re Fired?
Tom has stepped in as the show’s new host after comedian Rhod Gilbert announced he was stepping down from the role after three series due to touring commitments.
‘I’m back on the road after a seven-year break, and with such a busy stand-up touring schedule, it’s time to hand over the reins of You’re Fired to someone else,’ he said. ‘The brilliant Tom Allen is going to smash it.
Tom said at the time he was ‘excited and humbled to be joining this wonderful, much-loved show as host’.
‘I’m looking forward to analysing, satirising and, dare I say, celebrating the many “interesting” choices the candidates make during their Apprentice journey whilst gaining valuable insight into the business world,’ he added.
The Apprentice: You’re Fired is on BBC Two on Wednesday night at 10.05pm.
