This episode was the moment Drag Race UK fans everywhere have been waiting for – and the queens were finally able to [blank] their [blanks] on the Snatch Game!
Bringing some UK flavour to the impersonation game show, it was time for Brits to reveal just what they were made of and how they match up to years gone by.
Bianca Del Rio’s Judge Judy? Chad Michael’s Cher? BenDelaCreme’s Maggie Smith? There are some massive standards to live up to.
Were they successful? Well…like most versions of this game, some did more than others.
So who came out on top, and who totally blanked out?
Here’s our ratings of the Snatch Game performances – from top to bottom…
Baga Chipz – Maggie Thatcher
Everything about this was absolute gold.
From the red eyes to the accent and love of Brexit, she was savage but in the kind of way that made her whole persona a legendary one.
But it was her interactions with Vivienne’s Trump that really did it, and cemented both of them in Snatch Game glory.
This will go down in the Snatch Game hall of fame as the most noticeable.
The Vivienne – Donald Trump
The Vivienne really is a tour de force, isn’t she? And at this point, her and Baga are clearly the two to beat.
Coming in prepared with three fully-formed characters for the Snatch Game (the other two being Cilla Black and Kim Woodburn), it’s a bit of a shame she chose the non-British, and the male, one.
But those jokes came hard and fast and landed every single time (plus that voice was scarily accurate).
No wonder Ru couldn’t choose between her and Baga.
Blu Hydrangea – Mary Berry
Sorry, but how can you play a dirty version of Mary Berry, and never use any of the innuendos Bake Off is known for?!
I mean…not even a soggy bottom? Really?!
It’s almost offensive – this could have literally been any old woman and it would’ve been pretty much the same.
She was even caught ripping lines from previous snatch games, almost quoting Alaska’s Mae West ‘why don’t you come up and f*** me in the a**’ line for a chance at shock value.
Trying to sabotage Sum Ting in a bid to get the monopoly on the baking puns as well means she probably knew it could’ve been stronger.
But saying that, we can’t not say that eye on the runway was possibly one of the most shockingly stunning pieces of make-up work the show’s seen.
Crystal – Rue McClanahan/Blanche Devereaux (Golden Girls)
Crystal got a great couple of lines out and got the look pretty right but for the most part, she kind of flatlined.
Fans have been waiting years for a Golden Girl to finally turn
She was funnier than what the judges gave her credit for, but overall it just wasn’t up to par with the rest of the contestants.
(Saying that, angle grinding your outfit down a runway should’ve saved her. That was pure magic.)
Divina DiCampo – Julia Childs
Divina fell into two classic Snatch Game traps this episode, playing a character that’s already been done, and allowing her choice of character to be influenced by another.
Could she have done a better Thatcher than Baga? Possibly not. But her niceness got the better of her and it was obvious at one or two points that she just wasn’t as prepared for Julia Childs.
But hey, at least she managed to smash it in comparison to Milk’s ‘sausage trucks’ disaster from season six.
Cheryl Hole – Gemma Collins
Well this was…this was just Cheryl really, wasn’t it?
A brassy blonde bird from Essex is Cheryl’s schtick and that’s absolutely fine – in fact it’s pretty charming 99% of the time, but it’s not sustainable and it’s one note on a show like this.
If you’re going to be The GC ™, then you pull out every single meme that goddess has ever created, and Cheryl didn’t. She just sounded a bit like her.
Should she have been on the bottom again? We’re not sure. But the air time she was given in the game speaks for itself really.
Sum Ting Wong – David Attenborough
It’s infuriating to know that Sum Ting could have played Nigella Lawson and instead traded it in for playing David Attenborough.
The actual voice is on point, but they just did not camp it up in a way that’s necessary for Snatch Game – whereas with Nigella that is all built in as standard.
Attenborough could’ve been good if played correctly, and is super out of the box for what you could typically think of a Snatch Game character.
But Sum Ting didn’t bring the funny.
