The Chase is said to have taken on a brand new quizzer in the form of its ex-contestant Darragh Ennis.

That’s right, according to reports, the former player impressed bosses so much they decided to get him back, but this time as a chaser.

When speaking to The Mirror, a source teased his appearance, and confirmed that none of our quizmaster favs would be leaving the show upon his arrival.

‘Darragh has got what it takes to be a Chaser, he has been put to the test and passed with flying colours.,’ the insider teased.

‘They don’t bring in new members on The Chase regularly so this is a big deal for the show and Darragh. Viewers will be very interested to see how he gets on.’

The Irish contestant caused a storm when he appeared on the show after smashing his round and bringing back a whopping £9,000 to the table.

However, his fellow players accepted minus offers, which eventually left them with a cash prize of £2,700.

Viewers at home were outraged by their answers and tried to get the hashtag #JusticeForDarragh trending on Twitter.

They even went as far as setting up a GoFundMe page for the new star in a bid to raise the money he’d lost.

If the rumours prove true, he’ll be joining the likes of Mark The Beast Labbett, Shaun Dark Destroyer Wallace, Anne The Governess Hegerty, Paul Sinnerman Sinha, and Jenny The Vixen Ryan.

We wonder what nickname Darragh will be given.

At the end of last year, Mark Labbett had teased to Metro.co.uk that the crew were looking for a new chaser, while the show’s host Bradley Walsh has also spoken about a potential sixth addition.

Chatting to The Radio Times, he said: ‘We’re making more and more shows all the time, so we need to recruit more people all the time.

‘So consequently, we have put our feelers out to find other people that will be suitable, and all will be revealed next year.

‘It could be more than one, who knows. But it’s a proper shake-up.’

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV. Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment.
