Ah, the 80s. The era when giant shoulder pads, glamorous American soap operas and Stock/Aitken/Waterman songs fair dominated our lives.

It was also a decade which delivered rich pickings when it came to some of those memorably awkward moments of TV – the sort which probably would have melted social media had it existed back then.

Some of the more toe-curling moments are featured in Channel 5 documentary The 80s: The Best Of Bad TV, which airs on Saturday night.

But we couldn’t resist the opportunity to choose some of our favourites too. Remember these…?

1 Grace Jones hits Russell Harty (Russell Harty, 1983)

The late talk show host probably didn’t know what had hit him – then again perhaps he did – when singer Grace Jones had had enough of being ignored and promptly lost her temper, with the sort of shocking consequences you don’t forget in a hurry. Well, at least she got his attention.
