Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has to make her toughest challenge yet on the new season of The X Factor as she contemplates splitting up a pair of siblings from the competition.

Rachel and Nathan McIntosh have both made it as far as the Six Chair Challenge; Rachel with her girl group Silver Tone and Nathan with boy band Beklin.

But with all of her six seats full after the cliffhanger of last week’s show, Chezza now faces taking only one group through to the judges house stage.

Watching the latest Doctor Who episode, The Girl Who Died, was a bit like walking round a prospective school for your child – something I did just the other week – and finding out that half the books in the library are volumes you encountered in your childhood.

It was both warmly nostalgic and, in this new setting, a little bit unnerving.

Because The Girl Who Died was absolutely chock full of nods to old Doctor Who episodes.

What follows isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s enough to go on…

We all know that Frosties are grrrreeeeaaaaaatttt – but these adverts aren’t.

A fan of the cereal, called Frosted Flakes in the US, has started a commercial campaign called Tony’s Back, creating a series of videos featuring Tony the Tiger and uploading them to YouTube.

And, while at a first glance they look like genuine adverts, the content proves that these aren’t the brainchild of Kellogg’s.

Featuring scenarios ranging from prostitution, violence, corruption and terrorism, the adverts would never make it onto TV screens due to their offensive nature.

In this one, Tony helps a miserable sex worker find her mojo again with a bowl of Frosted Flakes, resulting in a very eye-opening final few moments:

Saturday Night Live deserves the criticism for inviting Donald Trump to host again

This week it was announced that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is going to be hosting Saturday Night Live.

It will mark the second time Trump has hosted the late night sketch show, having first done so in 2004 when he was merely a businessman and reality TV show personality rather than a serious candidate in the Republican primaries.

Trump announced the appointment on Twitter, which of course, was followed by sheer outrage.

A petition on MoveOn.org was started to get the network to actually cancel his booking, and even popular R&B singer Miguel has said he would refuse to be on the show again if Donald Trump does end up hosting as scheduled on November 7.

There are always difficult decisions for the X Factor judges to make during the Six Chair Challenge – and it seems that Simon Cowell is regretting his already.

Tasked with sending 6 performers from his Overs group through to the next stage of the competition, Cowell struggles to make the final decisions.

And, while we can’t currently reveal who Simon sends through and who is left rejected, could he have made the wrong decisions?

This time he is pre-empting the inevitable Twitter hate by conceding that he has made two mistakes:

‘I did hear the rumour about Ross going back but who knows,’ Babs told the Daily Star. ‘It would obviously be a great storyline to have Peggy reunited with her boys. Never say never. It could happen.’

He’s the king of mean, and has been since the days of Pop Idol, but fans are still taken aback when Simon Cowell is unpleasant to wannabe singers.

As the X Factor guru struggled to fill the seats during the Six Chair Challenge, his dismay at having the Overs group was clear, with him exclaiming ‘I can’t believe I’m stuck with this category.’

During the show, he was ruthless in his criticisms of the acts, with barbed comments such as ‘I just don’t think people are going to like you.’

Well, charming.

Viewers were not impressed with his bad mood, convinced that he was taking his temper at having the Overs category out on the singers. Or maybe he’s just worried that Countryfile will win the ratings… Read the full story

The judges didn’t hold back (Picture: ITV)

The latest X Factor began with Cheryl choosing her final groups.

All six seats were filled as battling gospel groups Silver Tone and BEKLN took to the stage.

The girls sang a smooth version of A Change Is Gonna Come which Nick called the ‘performance of this category’ and Cheryl’s first swap was to send Mon Amie on their way. Cue boos!

The guys sang a joyous See You Again but Simon thought Silver Tone (who were from the same choir) had moved him more.

After a bit of dithering Cheryl did give them a seat and it was time for Rumour Has It to leave.

Cheryl had her six groups: Silver Tone, BEKLN, Menn On Point, The First Kings, 4th Power andRead the full story

Hold on to your hats, folks.

Two episodes in to its fifth series and Homeland just got seriously good, seriously fast.

It has been the show’s traditional style to ramp up its complex, layered storylines gradually, ratcheting the tension from week to week.

Last year’s Brody-less, relocated series didn’t really get going until its mid-point with Saul’s abduction and Aayan’s shocking death at the hands of his own uncle.

Not this year.

What was already a masterfully tense episode moved up another level with a double gut punch in its closing moments.

Well the rumblings in Robert’s tummy came to a head this evening and exploded in quite a dramatic fashion – all over the rest of his family!

In a scene that was more like a horror movie than our favourite, cosy Sunday night show, Lord Grantham’s ulcer burst and splattered the rest of his shocked family with blood.

All in all it made for a pretty exciting episode, if not quite a pretty display.

Given it was one of the unexpected TV gems of 2014, it’s no surprise that US hit Fargo has returned for a second series.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the latest episode of Downton Abbey

Julian Fellowes offered up the most horrific episode of Downton Abbey to date this week, as Lord Grantham’s ulcer exploded in bloody fashion.

As they all enjoyed a dinner party, Robert Crawley projectiled in front of all of the guests, all over them too, and right onto that white table cloth.

Try getting that out without a little modern day Cillit Bang.

Many viewers just couldn’t handle the shocking sight, and took to Twitter accordingly.

Mick Fanning is not impressed with KFC’s new ad parodying his shark attack.

The video sees a surfer, who looks remarkably similar to Fanning, wrestle with a shark before using it as a prop while he surfs the waves.

The KFC ad was shot and produced by 7Films in Melkbos, Cape Town, and  promotes the Jacked Up Double Crunch Meal, (only available in South Africa) which is described as ‘Next Level Awesome’.

Fanning and his mother clearly don’t think it’s awesome.

According to the BBC, Elisabeth Osborne called it ‘disrespectful’ and said it brings back haunting memories of the shark attack in July 2007 when Mick was surfing in Jeffreys Bay.

Forget the Gloved Hand Killer – this is the revelation that many fans have been waiting to explode.

Harry and Ste – or ‘Starry’ as they are affectionately known by their online shippers – have not been able to resist each other, but there could have been more appropriate ways for them coming clean to Harry’s dad Tony than what has been kicking off in this week’s 20th anniversary.

The pair were caught canoodling in the middle of Hollyoaks Pride (without tops on, obviously) and, as the next episode picks up, viewers will witness Tony react in a very emotional fashion. Let’s just say that he doesn’t feel Ste is the right choice of partner for Harry.
