Their departure was followed by Gillian Anderson, who played Media, a key role in the show. She’s been replaced by Kahyun Kim, who’s taking on the role as New Media.
Starz has teased the second installment, saying: ‘A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.’
The Big Bang Theory and Friends have been compared over the years (Pictures: CBS/Getty)
The Big Bang Theory has been compared to Friends time and time again over its 12 year history, like most sitcoms are.
With the show’s end date right around the corner and with the finale episode beginning to emerge, we decided to ask one of the show’s executive producers, Eric Kaplan, about the similarities – and he said The Rockford Files is a much closer bet.
The Rockford Files was an American police drama which followed the adventures of ex-con and private detective Jim Rockford, played by James Garner, first airing back in 1974.
‘In my mind, The Big Bang Theory is almost like the show called The Rockford Files,’ Eric exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘They’re all friends and they’re all sorts of underdogs and they’re making it in the world and they love each other.
‘I think The Big Bang Theory is much closer in spirit to The Rockford Files than to Friends, although, I’m no expert on Friends.
‘Our guys don’t solve crimes, that’s the big difference. We have less of the procedural aspect.’
The Big Bang Theory has been compared to The Rockford Files (Picture: NBC)
Discussing why The Big Bang Theory has probably been likened to Friends so much, Eric explained: ‘Sitcoms are plays, they’re filmed plays, so a multi-cam sitcom has to have a home base, or one or two home bases, because number one that’s how it’s shot and number two, that’s how it comes to be something that provides some source of comfort and orientation for the audience.
‘When you turn on the show, Sheldon and Leonard are in their normal place, they’re not in some strange place.
‘And when we turn it on and they’re in a normal place, people are like “okay, I get it.” It functions well if it orients us a little bit.’
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS.

The Mountain’s absence in new Game Of Thrones posters for the final season has raised some eyebrows (Picture: HBO)
The new posters for the final season of Game Of Thrones has left some fans scratching their heads.
HBO stepped the season eight excitement up a gear by unveiling slick looking posters depicting each remaining character looking moody on the Iron Throne.
Arya, Sansa, Cersei, Jon, the Night King, Tyrion, Daenerys and Brienne are just some of the characters who get a spin on the famous, dangerous chair. Even Jorah and Sam get their own posters.
But there’s one face notably missing from the line up – Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain.
His equally fearsome brother Sandor, The Hound, is pictured on the Iron Thrones, but his bro isn’t present.
Could this be a clue to the outcome of Cleganebowl, the supposed showdown between Sandor and Gregor that fans have been calling for?
The Hound gets a season eight poster showing him on the Iron Throne (Picture: HBO)
If The Mountain isn’t shown on the Iron Throne, is that because he won’t get a shot because he’s been killed by his own brother? We wouldn’t put anything past this show.
Hafthor Bjornsson, who plays The Mountain, recently revealed that he was given a stunt double for the first time in the final season.
The actor’s ‘tall and big’ double could be a stand in for a fight scene involving The Mountain that is so epic, the incredibly strong Bjornsson wasn’t allowed to do it himself.
‘All the seasons prior to this season that we just finished filming. I never had stunt doubles. I always did everything myself,’ he said.
Hafthor added that season eight was a much more punishing shoot than the ones before it.
Teasing what fans can expect, he explained to Mashable: ‘Viewers can definitely expect an amazing season. ‘I obviously know just a little bit, I don’t know what’s gonna happen in everything, you know I only play a small role, you know, but I’m at least super excited to see the season and it was certainly the most hardest season I’ve filmed for Game Of Thrones.’
Game Of Thrones returns 15 April on Sky Atlantic

John Meehan has been brought back to life with the Netflix series on the horror of his crimes (Picture: Netflix)
Dirty John has gripped everyone over the past month as Eric Bana retells the bitter true story of a psychopath that prayed on women in order to extort money for a secret drug habit.
While most who have watched the series know that it was based on a true story, the new documentary Dirty John: The Dirty Truth reveals that some of the most elaborate scenes weren’t added in for dramatic effect – they were 100% real.
Here are just some of the scenes the show went out of its way to get right – including the moments that were pulled straight out of the real-life horror story.
Tonia was happily married to John from 1988 to 1997, when the truth came out (Picture: Netflix)
Tonia’s death threat phone call was word-for-word
John’s first wife Tonia got a raw end of the deal when after nearly a decade of marriage she realised she had no idea who her husband really was.
When they got divorced and John got disbarred, he immediately blamed Tonia, and despite the pair having two daughters together, his chilling phone call threatening to kill her for dobbing him in didn’t come from the show creators.
In the Dirty Truth, a recording of the original phone call plays, in which he tells her: ‘You know why I have this big smile on my face? Because trust me, just trust me, that’s why. You’ll understand when it happens. You’ll understand it all.
‘I won’t be anywhere near. I’ll be in Bermuda or wherever having a drink with a 22-year-old, smiling like I am right now.’
He then chillingly warns: ‘You should enjoy your time left Tonia, your time left on this Earth, that’s what it’s going to come down to. Just, when it happens, when you see it in your eyes and you know, promise you’ll remember it was me.’
On the series, the chilling threat was recreated word-for-word (Picture: Netflix)
He was a drug addict for decades and his wives and girlfriends never noticed
Until John Meehan revealed himself to be a drug addict through his behaviours, it was revealed that first wife Tonia was absolutely clueless to his double life throughout the entirety of their marriage.
It wasn’t until she phoned his mother (another scene that is recounted as it’s told in the series) that she discovered the level of his deception, hidden on a shelf in their shared closet.
Naturally, she made a run for it, but until she could prove it and have him arrested, she still had to share visitation to their children with him.
Julia Bowman was working on an investigation against John when he put a hit out on her (Picture: Netflix)
John put a hit out on a female cop
In Dirty Truth, Detective Julia Bowman revealed the horrific moment she discovered that John Meehan had actually put a hit out on her while she was investigating him.
Police uncovered that he had offered $10,000 for whoever could find her and kill her while he was serving two years in prison for possession of a firearm.
As a result she had people following her and her boyfriend home, and she was forced to having firearms around the house.
John Meehan tricked dozens of women to help feed his secret habits (Picture: Netflix)
She told the camera: ‘I started having these vivid dreams that John Meehan was outside of my house, that he was coming to kill me.
‘John was that case that would always haunt me and was never going to go away – so at that moment I knew, that he wasn’t staying in jail, and this wasn’t over.’
During the investigation that caused him to end up in jail, Bowman uncovered his ‘Breaking Bad’ style bunker full of drugs, and an office with a fridge containing a murder kit of cyanide, bullets and a revolver.
Terra had to fight for her life and stabbed him in the eye (Picture: Netflix)
Terra actually stabbed John through the eye
In the horrific attack that finally ended John’s reign of terror against the family, John cornered Debra’s youngest daughter Terra in the middle of a parking lot, brandishing a tire iron and a knife.
Immediately coming on the attack, the tackle that followed saw Terra overpowered by him and pinned to the ground, before a chance shot meant that his knife fell onto the floor next to her.
She managed to grab it and stabbed him 13 times – with the fatal one being the wound that went through John’s eye and into his brain.
Praising her, John’s first wife Tonia said that it was ‘poetic justice’ that he was finally killed by the young teen.
‘I am not a victim, I’m a survivor,’ Terra tells the camera. ‘I believe that John would’ve killed again. I believe he would’ve done anything to anyone.’
Dirty John: The Dirty Truth is available now on Netflix.

Peaky Blinders has a bright future ahead (Picture: BBC)
Peaky Blinders returns for a fifth series with a number of changes, including cast additions, political upheaval and a shift to BBC One.
Created and written by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders has ascended to popularity like few shows before it. Originally launching on BBC Two in 2013 to a modest reception, Peaky has become a global hit over the span of four series, with the latest its biggest and, arguably, best yet.
In a somewhat belated move, the show is shifting slots to BBC One for its upcoming fifth series, with Steven Knight believing it’s the right time for Peaky to go peak.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Knight said: ‘Peaky has had a very odd life because a lot of series tend to start tailing off after a while. But Peaky is just getting stronger and stronger, and people are finding it all over the world.
Helen McCrory is back as a very different Polly (Picture: BBC)
‘Peaky is something people have found themselves. It’s never been given a huge push. People have discovered it and feel they are part of it; they’re opening up bars, having haircuts and dressing up which is great. And I think in the end, BBC Two is fantastic, but the time had come for it to possibly be offered to a bigger audience.’
The next series is set to be released at an unconfirmed date this year, with Knight promising the best is yet to come after watching the first two episodes at a private screening.
‘I saw the first two episodes cut together the day before yesterday and it’s so good,’ Knight says. ‘It’s just a different level again. I think we know we’ve got something really special.’
Series five picks up after Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) is elected MP of Birmingham South, giving a new dynamic to the gang leader’s power off the streets and into the political system.
The new episodes are also catching up with major historical events, kicking off with the Wall Street Crash in 1929 and the beginning of the Great Depression which hung over western civilisation for 12 years.
This major economic slump contributed to the rise of fascism throughout Europe in the 1930s, with Knight teasing how Tommy Shelby could encounter some dark individuals in these political circles – including newcomer Sam Claflin as leader of the British Union of Fascists, Oswald Mosley.
‘Tommy’s a politician so he bumps against some of the dark forces that were around politically at that time,’ Knight says.
Sam Claflin is set to play Oswald Mosley (Picture: BBC)
‘Europe is changing, things are happening, and we wanted to put Tommy at the heart of that which was just beginning at the start of the 30s.
‘The thing with Peaky it changes and it stays the same, the elementals I don’t mess with. It’s in Birmingham, they’re gangsters, they do what they do, nothing is going to change them.
‘They will be redeemed at some point, but that’s who they are, that’s what they do. And for Tommy becoming an MP is just another way of attaining and exercising power, and he does it in the same way Tommy always has.’
One of the biggest challenges facing series five is the absence of Tom Hardy, whose dynamic character Alfie Solomons was killed off in a dramatic showdown on the beach with Tommy.
Actor Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby) previously expressed how Hardy didn’t want to leave the show, with debates happening behind-the-scenes over whether the character should be killed. When asked about Hardy’s reaction to leaving, Knight is particularly brief with his words: ‘He loves the character, let me put it that way.’
Tom Hardy was hesitant to leave the show (Picture: BBC)
The exhausting slew of newcomers alongside Claflin hopes to fill the void, with Anya Taylor-Joy, former Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, Brian Gleeson, Neil Maskell, Kate Dickie, Cosmo Jarvis, Elliot Cowan, Charlene McKenna, Andrew Koji and Daryl McCormack all joining for series five.
While the series is prepping for its biggest outing yet, Knight is looking at the endgame – writing the sixth series, with the seventh looking to be the last for Tommy’s journey.
‘My favourite past time is to write Peaky,’ Knight says. ‘I’ve always had the destination in mind to take up to the first air raid in Birmingham of the Second World War and that’s what I’m going to do.
‘It’ll take another two series to get there so that’s another twelve hours of Peaky.’
Tommy Shelby’s story is coming to an end in series seven (Picture: BBC)
With swirling rumours of movies and musicals, Knight isn’t so convinced it’ll be the last we’ll see of Peaky Blinders as a franchise.
‘It will be the end of that story,’ Knight says. ‘But the response to Peaky, it’s such a global phenomenon now.
‘I would have problems walking away from it totally, so we’ll see.’
Peaky Blinders series five kicks off on BBC One in 2019.
Jessica Jones will be resurrected (kind of) (Picture: Netflix)
Jessica Jones may be leaving Netflix, but thankfully she’ll be getting a new lease of life once season three has ended with a new audio series.
The character has been chosen as one of four Marvel characters who will be given their own separate adventures in a new series from recording company Serial box.
Thor, Black Panther and Black Widow will also be given their own interpretation series which will work separately from the MCU and the comic books, but aim to bridge the gap between them for movie fans to be introduced to the comic book world.
The Netflix favourite will be turned into an audiobook (Picture: Netflix)
Alex de Campi, the series editor and showrunner, has confirmed Black Widow will reunite with Winter Soldier while Loki will be dropping by to cause more havoc for Thor.
Lead Thor writer Aaron Stewart-Ahn has also confirmed the news and wrote on Twitter: ‘I can’t say much but if you look at this writing team and their body of work you’ll see how totally cosmic this Thor story and the characters are going to be.’
‘We had a writers’ room with so much varied life experience and points of view so it was like freaking Nidavellir,’ he added.
Black Panther will also be be given his own adventure (Picture: Rex)
However, we might be in for a bit of a wait as no release date has been confirmed so far.
We still have season three to look forward to though, as the final Netflix installment from the Marvel team before it’s removed from the series for good.
It’s been announced that all remaining Marvel titles have been axed from Netflix, with The Defenders, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil all being chopped.
The Punisher and Jessica Jones were the last to go.
Jessica Jones season 1 and 2 is available now on Netflix.

RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Trixie Mattel has unleashed her honest opinions about the reality show during her Skinny Legend UK tour – including Trinity The Tuck and Monet X Change’s double crowning and beating Shangela to the top spot last year.
As well as advising other queens to avoid death threats by not reading the comments, the All Stars season three winner has confessed she really isn’t bothered about who’s triumphant anymore and exclusively told Metro.co.uk why.
‘Listen, I won for now. I don’t care who wins next, Trixie admitted. ‘I got my money and I got the fuck out.
‘I was surprised that they [Monet X Change and Trinity The Tuck] both won. I’m surprised they both won money, because when I was on Drag Race, they did a tie with me and Kennedy [Davenport] and they told us we’d each get £50,000. So now they’re getting real financially fierce.’
Trixie Mattel would’ve voted for Shangela on All Stars season three
‘It really didn’t affect me whatsoever,’ Trixie confessed. ‘I didn’t even notice. It did not affect me. Do you think I give a fuck?
‘There’s no smoking gun in my hand because if you watch the episode… it’s more about how come all these people didn’t vote for her, it’s more about them.’
But given the chance, Trixie says she would’ve voted for Shangela, saying: ‘I didn’t have a vote, but if I had had a vote, I would have voted for her. I would’ve voted for me and her.’
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 has just kicked off (Picture: Getty Images)
As well as All Stars season three airing last year, Drag Race fans were also treated to the main show’s 10th season and a Christmas special, with season 11 premiering on Friday.
While it might seem like RuPaul overkill, Trixie is adamant that people are still hungry for it, telling Metro.co.uk: ‘The more they make, the more we watch. If you build it people will come.
‘Until it stops losing money, nobody’s going to stop making it. There was originally only 150 Pokemon, and then when they made more people were like “I don’t pay attention to the new ones” but obviously they do.
‘The people who are critical of it are the people who’re going to watch it either way. “They make too many of them,” really? You’re going to watch it.’
Trixie is currently touring the UK with her one woman show, combining music and comedy in a way that only Trixie could hot glue together, with dates in Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester.
‘I just put on wigs and tell jokes,’ she straight-talked. ‘I don’t care if the building falls down around me I’m not going to pay attention to it. It’s not my job.’
Trixie Mattel’s Skinny Legend tour runs until 9 March and tickets are available to buy here.

Nadia Sawalha filmed her smear test for Loose Women because she’s a queen (Picture: ITV)
Nadia Sawlaha let Loose Women viewers in on her smear test today after discovering she was one year overdue.
The 54-year-oild filmed her appointment and talked viewers through the entire procedure to assure there’s absolutely nothing to fear when it comes to the smear.
Pulling faces from her GPs bed, the former EastEnders star recorded her cervical screening, reassuringly cool, calm and collected.
So I’ve just arrived for my smear, I’m ten mins early actually. And my daughters were asking if I was nervous, I’m not nervous at all!
‘I just want to get it done, worry gone! Big fat tick, done. Here I am with Dr Phillipa. Isn’t she lovely? I’m really excited to get this out the way.’
Nadia also explained how fans who have been through the menopause need fresh cervical examinations once every five years, which actually came as news to her.
‘I thought I was two years late but I’m one year late,’ she grinned, before gearing up for her smear. ‘Yes [I’ve emptied my bladder], let’s do it kids!’
Nadia put Loose Women viewers at ease as she let us in on her cervical screening (Picture: ITV)
‘Have you done it? Is that it?’ Nadia gasped. ‘How easy it is! It just takes seconds! I got my tests and I’m clear. It’s that worry, just get it done get it out the way.’
Nadia’s diary was part of Loose Women’s #FaceYourSmear campaign, urging women to stay on top of their screenings.
A 2018 survey revealed that a third of British women avoid smear tests because they’re ashamed of their bodies and in some cases the appearance of their vagina.
If you have any more queries about what actually happens during a smear test, Metro.co.uk have prepared a detailed guide of what to expect and how to prepare for one to put you at ease.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

Netflix’s Flat Earth documentary Behind The Curve follows people who believe the Earth is flat (Picture: Netflix/Delta-V Productions)
Netflix documentary Behind The Curve follows a community that staunchly believes the Earth is flat.
Featured in the doc are prominent Flat Earthers including Mark Sargent, Patricia Steer and Jeran Campanella.
Sargent claims those that disagree with him are being ‘fooled’ into thinking the Earth is round.
Comparing it to Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show, in which one man finds out his whole life is actually a reality TV show, he said: ‘Imagine The Truman Show as a Hollywood stage 100 miles wide.
‘If you built a stage 1000 miles wide how many people could you fool besides just Truman?’
But that’s not the only eyebrow-raising part of the film.
There are Flat Earther dating sites

The celebrities have reached the top of Kilimanjaro (Picture: PA)
Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have reached the top of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief, with a bunch of other celebrities.
Nine celebrities have been climbing Africa’s highest mountain over the past eight days, with the celebrity hikers now having completed their ascent.
Alongside the Little Mix stars are Alexander Armstrong, Osi Umeniyiora, Dan Walker, Shirley Ballas, Ed Balls, Anita Rani and Dani Dyer.
Their climb to the top, however, wasn’t without tribulations – with Thirlwall being struck down by severe bouts of sickness and vomiting.

In a post, Jade said: ‘The last two hours have probably been the hardest. Last night I was really, really sick, vomiting, I felt nauseous, had a bad tummy and a high temperature, I’m not sure if it was a bug or the altitude.
‘Been taking tablets, didn’t sleep very well. Got a blister on my toe! It’s just one thing after the other! Woke up this morning, feeling a lot better, everyone’s in good spirits, and it’s all worth it for this amazing cause.’

The full story of the climb is set to air on BBC One in the run up to Red Nose Day, which takes place on Friday 15 March.
This isn’t the first time a cluster of celebrities have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Red Nose Day, with another bunch having took on the same challenge 10 years ago.
The 2009 trek featured the likes of Gary Barlow, Cheryl, Fearne Cotton, Alesha Dixon, Ronan Keating, Chris Moyles, Ben Shephard, Denise Van Outen and Kimberly Walsh.

Lauren won’t be changing her ways (Picture: Rex Features)
Lauren Goodger has admitted she won’t stop editing her pictures on social media.
The former Towie star revealed that she feels like she’s ‘under pressure’ to look a certain way and now suffers badly with anxiety from constantly trying to strive for the perfect image online while competing with emerging stars and rivals from Love Island.
Speaking on Friday’s edition of Loose Women, the 32-year-old told panellists Andrea McLean, Nadia Sawalha, Carol McGiffin and Kaye Adams what she does in order to get people to like her and her snaps.
‘I feel like I’m under a lot of pressure in my job. You want to make yourself look better,’ she said.
Lauren appeared on Loose Women on Friday (Pictures: Rex Features)
‘I’m under pressure. A lot of people look at me as an influence and social media is an obsession… I suffer really badly with anxiety.’
Adding: ‘Now, I think they’d like me more, maybe that’s where I go wrong sometimes. It’s where I feel like I’m under pressure.’
She also noted that the industry is a lot more saturated with reality TV stars, thanks to shows like Love Island.
Stating that she ‘has to’ post on social media, she added: ‘It’s my job so at the same time I’ve got to keep people up to date. I’m very behind.
‘You’ve got all these new shows out now, Love Island, they are just taking over now and there is so many of us but when I did it we were just a very small group. So now I’m behind and I’m still learning today.’
Lauren’s comments come months after she was accused by social media followers of posting what appeared to be another Photoshopped picture of herself.
The reality TV star uploaded a picture in a white swimsuit, holding on to a bottle of bubbly and a white coat, with the caption: ‘Bring on 2019.’
But fans were quick to notice that something didn’t seem quite right, with the 32-year-old accused of Photoshopping the picture to make her waist look smaller, as fans pointed out the distorted tree between her body and arm.

Sir Lenny Henry has responded to the controversy (Picture: Jon Bond – WPA Pool/Getty Images)
Comic Relief co-founder Sir Lenny Henry has responded to the ‘white saviour’ controversy between Stacey Dooley and MP David Lammy.
The 31-year-old documentary maker faced criticism after posting a picture from her trip to Uganda for the charity with a young local boy, writing on the caption ‘obsessed’.
Many took offense to the picture and claimed it perpetuated a ‘white saviour’ narrative, including MP David Lammy, who said it reinforced ‘tired and unhelpful stereotypes’.
Lenny Henry, who helped form the charity in 1985 with screenwriter Richard Curtis, has since responded to the issue during an appearance at Comic Relief’s Spectacular fundraiser on Thursday (28 February) at Wembley Arena.
At the event, Lenny joked David Lammy might say ‘screw you white people’ in a gag during the set.
In his initial response to Stacey Dooley’s posts, David Lammy wrote: ‘The world does not need any more white saviours. As I’ve said before, this just perpetuates tired and unhelpful stereotypes.
‘Let’s instead promote voices from across the continent of Africa and have serious debate.’
He added: ‘Hi @StaceyDooley. This isn’t personal and I don’t question your good motives. My problem with British celebrities being flown out by Comic Relief to make the films is that it sends a distorted image of Africa which perpetuates an old idea from the colonial era.’
Comic Relief has also since responded to the controversy in a statement, which reads: ‘We are really grateful that Stacey Dooley, an award winning and internationally acclaimed documentary maker, agreed to go to Uganda to discover more about projects the British people have funded there and make no apologies for this.
‘She has filmed and reported on challenging issues all over the world, helping to put a much-needed spotlight on issues that affect people’s lives daily. In her film, people working with or supported by Comic Relief projects tell their own stories in their own words.’
Red Nose Day’s live telethon is set to kick off Friday 15 March on BBC One.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige has since explained how these shows will play an important role in the expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) going forward beyond Avengers: Endgame.
Speaking to Collider, Feige said: ‘It’s been extremely additive to the entire creative arc, not just of the Disney+ programs we’re working on, but on the entire post-Endgame MCU.
Previous shows like Daredevil never fully crossed paths (Picture: Netflix)
‘Because we’ve been able to weave them. We’ve been able to, for the first time, conceive of them together, and they will be intertwined with each other.’
Past Marvel shows, like Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the recently cancelled Netflix shows, made references to events in the Avengers films – but they never crossed paths in a direct way.
It seems this is about to change for the forthcoming shows, however, which will be created under the same Marvel Studios as the MCU, rather than the separate banner of Marvel Television.
Teasing the possibilities, Feige added: ‘For us to have another outlet to tell stories, and to play with medium, and to do, not just deeper dives on characters that we’ve seen many times in the MCU, but haven’t been able to devote six, seven, eight, nine, 10 hours to, is amazing, and is something that we’ve been working on for a while now.’
The big question is how integral these shows will become to the Marvel movies, considering it could alienate the casual movie audience who perhaps don’t want to commit to hours of television to understand any future Avengers movies.
Avengers: Endgame releases in cinemas on 25 April.
Nobody wants to go home first on RuPaul’s Drag Race, but sadly, Soju is the latest queen to befall that fate.
The self-proclaimed K-pop drag princess was given the chop after failing to impress with her tulle explosion of a dress and a lacklustre lip sync against Kahanna Montrese.
And Soju wasn’t expecting to be in the bottom two – right up until the critique started.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the first eliminated queen of season 11 said: ‘I was anticipating it, just waiting for the show to air, and I was nervous because I didn’t know how the fans were going to react, or what the editing was going to sh. But overall, I had a great time filming, and I’ve been getting so much love and so much positive energy that I would not do anything different. This is perfect for me, and I’m so happy that I did it.
‘Honestly, I was very confident about what I made, and obviously that showed on the episode. I thought I was looking great until we were about to walk on the runway and I saw how fabulous everyone else looked, so I thought “ok, maybe I’ll be safe”. Then it was surprising to me that I was in the bottom two, but when they started to critique, it made sense to me – I deserved to be in the bottom.’
Soju admits her construction was messy (Picture: VH1)
Soju was given Kim Chi’s cast-offs to create a look that explained who she was, and she chose to make a Hanbok – a traditional Korean gown with a voluminous silhouette.
Her look was criticised for being shapeless, but Soju is more than used to having to explain her Korean style of drag.
The 27-year-old said: ‘I wasn’t disappointed because I’m used to having to explain my culture to American people. I always have to explain why my food smells this way, why my house smells this way, why my parents reacted to my grades this way. So I wasn’t really shocked by that.
‘At the end of the day, I could have given the same silhouette and if the construction better, I’d have stayed out of the bottom two. The construction was really messy and I think that was the main problem.
‘They all said positive things about my drag. They loved my hair, they loved my make-up, they loved my personality. To me, that’s my selling point – I am a very genuine person who wants to entertain people and make people smile, and also educate people about my culture in a fun and artistic way. I did cry when they said those things to me, because at least they got to see that.’
Soju entered the season with a fanbase already, as she hosts the YouTube series Shot With Soju, on which she reviews Drag Race. Competitor Ariel Versace called her out for her vlogger fame, questioning whether she was an entertainer – something Soju was expecting.
‘I think the pressure was from myself because I knew the fans were expecting great things from me, because I had a fanbase. Something that Ariel said was that something I’ve always experienced from other queens. I don’t have a problem with them questioning those things, because at the end of the day, I’m quite new to the scene and I rose to fame quite quickly thanks to my YouTube series, so I’ve always had to prove my worth. But when queens and producers work with me, they know I’m an entertainer and I earn their respect. Ariel has seen that, I have shown her and now that I have, we’re great friends.’
And after spending a brief time on the show, Shot With Soju will definitely be changing when it returns. She told us: ‘Before, I was very naive and very uneducated about Drag Race, I was just critiquing it like a fan and a viewer. But now I’ve been in it, the way I review it will be different, there’ll be more understanding of what the queens are going through, because what you see is like, 10% of what is really going on. That 10% is the most entertaining bits, but in the other 90%, there’s real struggle and emotions going around. That’s something you don’t know unless you’ve been there.’
Soju will be bringing back her YouTube series, is taking her K-pop drag night (side note – we need to go) Seoul Train to different cities in the US (details available on her website), and will be releasing K-pop music in Korean and English.
But what we all really need to know is – how is Soju’s cyst coming along?
She laughed: ‘Everyone needs to know that the cyst is gone, that’s all taken care of, there’s no need to worry.’
RuPaul’s Drag Race airs Thursdays on VH1 at 9pm, and drops on Netflix the following day.

Derry Girls has become a phenomenon after just one series, with a mural in Derry even being dedicated to the cast.
And one of the members of the cast took inspiration for her character from another iconic moment in Irish television.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays always anxious and uptight Clare Devlin on the Channel 4 show, has revealed she modelled her accent on Nadine Coyle – and, in particular, the moment she was caught faking her age on the Irish series of Popstars.
Derry Girls’ Nicola, Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin), Louisa Harland (Orla), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Michelle) and Dylan Llewellyn (James) all appeared on Ireland’s The Late Late Show ahead of series two, and host Ryan Tubridy asked how Nicola – who is from Galway – nailed her Northern Irish accent.
Never forget (Picture: RTE)
She said: ‘The only person I could think of from Derry was Nadine Coyle, and the only thing I could think of was her losing her passport on Popstars.’
For those of you who haven’t seen one of the most iconic moments in TV history, a little background – a pre Girls Aloud Nadine Coyle landed a place in the now defunct band Six on the Irish version of Popstars, and was introducing herself on camera when she accidentally revealed her real date of birth, outing herself for lying about her age to make herself old enough to enter the competition.
The singer then pretended to have lost her passport to avoid ‘fessing up to her sins, resulting in a very awkward phone call with her mother where she tried to palm off her date of birth as a slip of the tongue.
Nicola said: ‘It was the biggest scandal. I think my mum still doesn’t trust her, she’s like “oh, you’d never know now”.
Derry Girls is back next week for series two (Picture: Channel 4)
‘I delivered that speech verbatim in the audition. Nobody wanted me to do it.’
The 32-year-old then showed off her skills, mimicking Nadine by saying: ‘My name is Nadine Coyle from Larkhill in Derry, date of birth 15th of the 6th ’85, making me a Gemini… what date of birth did I say now? Then there’s a slow fade.’
And we have to say, she got it bang on.
Derry Girls is set to return next week on Channel 4, after the finale of series one saw a bomb killing 12 people in Derry – giving us a stark reminder of the Troubles which serve as the background for the girls’ antics.
We will also see Clare’s journey with her sexuality, as she came out as gay to Erin after submitting an anonymous essay to the school magazine.
Derry Girls series two airs on 5 March at 9.15pm on Channel 4.

The showrunner on LA’s Finest has had his leg partially amputated (Picture: Rex/Sony)
A showrunner on TV series LA’s Finest has had to have one of his legs partially amputated after being injured in an on-set accident, according to reports.
The showrunners on the upcoming Bad Boys spin-off, Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, were rushed to hospital after a stunt scene went wrong during filming on 21 February.
According to Deadline, the showrunners were in the video village area watching the car stunt scene play out on monitors in San Pedro, LA, when a stunt car crashed into a cargo crate which smashed into the village. It’s claimed Sonnier’s leg was pinned following the crash.
While Margolis was released from hospital shortly after, Sonnier’s injury was reportedly so severe he had to have one of his legs amputated below the knee – and remains in hospital.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to LA’s Finest producers Sony Pictures Television for comment.
An investigation is underway into the incident by California Occupational Safety and Health Administration, with many wondering why the production area was positioned so close to a stunt scene.
In a statement immediately following the accident, Sony Pictures Television said: ‘Our hearts go out to our SPT family members who were injured and we pray for a full recovery.’

Behind The Curve has been keeping people gripped (Picture: Netflix)
Daniel J Clark has been blowing everyone’s minds this weekend thanks to his new documentary on the Flat Earth theory, Behind The Curve.
The latest Netflix smash follows a group of people who believe that the earth is flat, and their efforts to prove as such in a series of experiments (several of which backfire).
After speaking to group leaders Mark Sargent and Patricia Steere, the debate is hotter than ever over whether the world is round, and now Daniel has revealed how he spoke to the group and got them on side in order to do the documentary, and how people who want to debate the topic can do the same.
Theory leaders were put under the microscope for the show (Picture: Netflix/Delta V-Productions)
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: ‘I think the first step is to not be condescending and not to talk down and not belittle people whose beliefs, in most people’s eyes, are wrong, because that doesn’t change much.
‘Shaming someone doesn’t change the way they feel about something. In fact, it probably just reinforces it and they become more entrenched in their belief. So approaching it from the angle of, “I see where you’re coming from, now here’s where I’m coming from,” is better.’
‘I think it’s probably idealistic, because some people aren’t going to listen necessarily,’ he continued, adding that ‘everybody’ is capable of ignoring things that they don’t believe in.
He then added: ‘If you come at it from a more understanding and empathetic angle, I think you have a better chance of at least having them understand where you’re coming from.’
Behind The Curve follows the long-held conspiracy theory that we have been fed false information into believing that the world is spherical.
It interviews several proponents of the Flat Earth theory and also journeys to a convention (called the Flat Earth International Conference) to hear them speak about the conspiracy theory.
It also delves into the mindset of people who are happy to believe something even when all evidence (including their own experiments) argues to the contrary.
Behind the Curve is available on Netflix now.

Georgia Steel claims she was ‘encouraged’ to stay with Sam Bird (Picture: GC Images)
Love Island’s Georgia Steel has claimed she was ‘encouraged’ to stay with Sam Bird after they left the show.
Even though she felt they weren’t compatible, Georgia feared their relationship was what made her popular and that splitting would harm her career.
She said: ‘That is what happens when you come out. I definitely felt like that.
‘It wasn’t working, we were different people, but I really though, “Oh my God, people are only going to like me if we’re together” because that’s what you’re renowned for.’

The former couple thrashed out everything that had happened between them since leaving the Love Island villa, including the revelation that she visited an ex’s house in the early hours of the morning.
But so far that hasn’t been going to plan as she was branded ‘rude’ for criticising a fellow singleton’s shirt.
In the brief 19-second video, Georgia told a potential suitor: ‘Anyway, your blue t-shirt makes me feel like I’m looking up at the sky it’s that bloody blue, so I’ll have that and I’ll talk to your mate. Yeah?’
Appearing to realise how harsh she’d been, Georgia quickly added: ‘Oh God, that was a bit savage wasn’t it? Ahhh, sorry babe!’ as she brushed her hand on his shoulder.

In the series, his ambulance escape was played out with a slightly less dramatic consequence (Picture: Netflix)
Dirty John: The Dirty Truth documentary has revealed some of the extraordinary moments of real-life that made it out onto the screen – but there was one moment they changed to something slightly less dramatic.
Which is a massive shame, because it would’ve been one hell of an action sequence for them to recreate.
In the new documentary, Detective Lukan revealed that the initial arrest of John Meehan, the Dirty John in question, was actually far more dramatic than the show made it out to be.
John was found semi-conscious after he skipped a hearing (Picture: Netflix)
Speaking to the camera about the initial arrest of the life-long con-artist, Detective Lucan revealed that he had overdosed and found ‘semi-conscious’ in a Michigan hotel room when he didn’t turn up for a court hearing with his ex-wife, Tonia.
This is when things get really interesting
Christopher Goffard, an LA Times reporter who covered the case, said: ‘He jumped out of the ambulance, ran into a department store, climbed up an elevator shaft and fought like hell as the cops tried to come up and get him. He was not afraid to use violence and I think he was able of murder.’
Luken then revealed: ‘One of the officers were able to John, and both fell about 10 to 12 feet on top of the elevator.’

A photograph then revealed John covered in cuts and bruises and in a neck brace from the fall.
This is far more dramatic than the change of events seen on the series, where John (played by Eric Bana), was seen attempting to climb up the elevator shaft in the department store, but ultimately failing and being pulled back down into the elevator itself.
He was seen kicking and screaming as he was pinned to the floor and arrested.
John was eventually charged, but at that point he had not been arrested before, so was fined and released following the completion of a treatment programme.
Tonia was left fearful for her life, but he eventually moved out of state, where he continued to con women out of money to fund his drug habit.
Dirty John: The Dirty Truth is available now on Netflix.
