The Walking Dead season 9 episode 14 review: Danai Gurira is given the spotlight she deserves

Danai Gurira is on stellar form as Michonne in Scars (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Walking Dead.

Michonne’s past and present overlap in this visceral flashback episode, filling in some of the blanks between the earlier time-jump.

It’s a testament to new villain the Whisperers that the unanswered emotional baggage hanging over Michonne (Danai Gurira) didn’t feel like a pressing issue. Within the space of this season, she’s lost boyfriend Rick Grimes, become a single mother to two children, and has become a respected, if controversial, leader at Alexandria. Despite all this, Michonne has felt short-changed in time spent under the spotlight.

New episode Scars rectifies this issue by diving into Michonne’s insecurities on multiple fronts. We jump back and forth from the present day and an unspecified time after Rick’s exit where Michonne is pregnant. As parallels between the dual storylines start to form, we’re given a better understanding of why she’s become so vigilant in her overprotective decision-making.

We’re introduced to pregnant Michonne as she discovers Rick’s pistol burrowed between the weeds. While searching for signs of Rick, she bumps into Daryl who won’t rest until he’s found and ignores her plea for him to return to Alexandria. Michonne’s yearn for a trusted face back home is fixed somewhat by childhood friend Jocelyn arriving at the gates, who becomes a reminder of the life she had before the apocalypse.

Daryl teams up with Michonne (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)

Much like Michonne, however, Jocelyn isn’t the same person she once was. After being entrusted with the kids of Alexandria for a sleepover, including Judith, she abducts them. Turns out, she’s been training children to become brutal, cold-hearted warriors in a secret group, in what she believes is a safer way to prepare them for their surroundings.

As Michonne and Daryl search for Judith, they’re captured, strung up, and branded like cows by one of the youngsters (explaining the mysterious ‘X’ scars on their back). After they break free, Michonne, who is still pregnant, is forced to wrestle between the primal urge of saving Judith and potentially killing young children who stand in her way.

It’s in these bleak unthinkable scenarios where The Walking Dead’s drama thrives. As the kids take stabbing lunges at Michonne’s body, the mental struggle of protecting your own child over another is excellently conveyed by Danai Gurira — with every attack from these brainwashed children forcing Michonne towards the harrowing inevitable. It’s raw and heartbreaking, and arguably the most visceral the show’s felt since Carl was almost forced to cut Rick’s arm off by Negan.

This story runs parallel with Judith going outside the walls of Alexandria alone to Michonne’s fright. Despite showing she’s capable, namely to an impressed Daryl and Negan, Michonne admirably, but unrealistically, still wants to protect Judith’s childhood from the horrors of the world. This culminates in a moving heart-to-heart where Judith recalls her memory of Michonne killing those children, making the latter realise why her efforts to sugarcoat and overprotect were met with so much resistance.

While the editing occasionally made the narrative jumps harder to follow than it should, this episode was a fulfilling catch-up with one of the richest character dynamics on the show. The third great episode in a row? We’re starting to believe The Walking Dead really has turned a corner.

The Walking Dead continues on AMC Sundays and airs Fox UK Mondays at 9pm.

Michonne’s scars were explained in the latest episode (Picture: AMC)

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead has finally given an explanation behind Michonne and Daryl’s mysterious ‘X’ scars on their backs, and it isn’t an easy watch.

In the latest episode titled Scars, Michonne is given the spotlight in an episode which partly plays out in flashbacks. After reuniting with school friend Jocelyn, pregnant Michonne is left dismayed when she mysteriously abducts Judith from Alexandria.

Joined by Daryl, Michonne goes on the hunt for them, only to be attacked by a group of feral children Jocelyn has trained. Both Michonne and Daryl are captured and strung up, when a young child brands them both with an ‘X’ on their lower back, as they scream in pain.

The scars were finally explained (Picture: AMC)

It’s a particularly harrowing moment, not only because of the intense pain, but through Michonne’s direct screams at Jocelyn over the betrayal.

They eventually both manage to escape, but it comes at a great cost. To save Judith, Michonne is forced to kill a whole group of children who have been trained to fight against her — leaving her no alternative as they attempt to stab her pregnant stomach.

We first saw the mysterious scars following the time-jump after Rick’s exit, with this traumatic episode also explaining why Michonne has become more ruthless in her approach to leadership.

Piers Morgan rages over Gordon Ramsay’s ‘dramatic vegan conversion’ and says he’s ‘in it for the money’

Piers Morgan is not letting his vegan beef with Gordon Ramsay lie.

Earlier this week, the famous chef took to Twitter to promote his new vegan roast.

However, this didn’t sit right with Piers, leading the 53-year-old to dig up old Twitter outbursts from Ramsay where he’d hit out at veganism.

Following this response, the father-of-four slammed the controversial star when appearing on the Late Late Show with James Corden and told Piers to ‘go fuck himself.’

But instead of leaving it at that, it seems the presenter wanted the last word, and raged over Gordon while on Good Morning Britain.

He told viewers: ‘Just to give a background to this, there was his post about his vegan roast on Twitter – I don’t know when, I don’t know where, but suddenly Gordon Ramsay is embracing his veganism.’

Showing a picture of the roast, Piers added: ‘Absolutely revolting – yeah it looks nice but no one believes you when you say that.

‘I was surprised – this is not the Gordon Ramsay who… well I’ll say what later.’

Sharing the clip of the 52-year-old telling Piers to ‘fuck himself’, the journalist sarcastically said: ‘You couldn’t have been clearer, Gordon is now at the forefront of the vegan revolution and is not remotely cynical or not doing it because he might make some money out of it.

‘Like vegan sausage rolls and the rest of it – no, no he’s a purest, he’s a proper vegan guy… or is he?’

Piers then joked: ‘Here’s what he tweeted about vegans before his dramatic conversion.’

He then shared a picture of Gordon’s tweet, which read: ‘I’m a member of PETA ! People eating tasty animals…’ before stating: ‘My point being Gordon Ramsay is not a vegan, Gordon Ramsay doesn’t even like veganism.’

He said Ramsay is not a vegan (Picture: Getty)

Susanna Reid, who is a vegetarian, piped in with her own anecdote of the chef, and said: ‘I asked him what I could have for a Christmas dinner once, and he said, “Perhaps you could have a carrot.”‘

Laughing into the camera she added: ‘So those were the days that people who didn’t eat meat got given a carrot and now they get a whole vegan roast!’

Peirs told viewers: ‘The bottom line is, Ramsay is not a vegan, he doesn’t believe in veganism, he doesn’t agree with any of it.

‘For the same reason you’re patrolling the streets looking for vegan sausage rolls – you’ve all just bought into this thing. You’re all getting played.’

Gordon has repeatedly apologised for his previous outbursts on veganism and even went as far as holding his hands up to ‘eat a slice of humble pie’.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

Towie’s Sam Mucklow flooded with backlash for ‘disgusting behaviour’ over explosive Shelby Tribble row

The Only Way Is Essex’s Sam Mucklow has come under fire for branding Shelby Tribble a ‘sl*g’ in a heated argument during Sunday night’s episode when the series returned.

A showdown between the duo took place on a Thai beach as Shelby called out Sam for making moves on Chloe Sims’ sister Demi, 24 hours after they’d slept together.

‘I trusted you and I felt safe with you as a friend, that’s why we took things to the next level,’ she told him.

‘You made me feel like a cheap fucking sl*g after hearing you say you are cracking on with Demi and going to treat her like a lady, what does that make me?’

Shelby then threw her drink over Sam in a fit of anger, prompting him to retaliate by quipping: ‘You are a sl*g.’

Naturally it didn’t take long before viewers lit up their pitchforks on Twitter to call out Sam for his vile language, with one blasting: ‘Absolutely raging at Towie. How dare Sam call Shelby a slag after sleeping with her,’ one blasted.’

Echoing the same sentiment, another added: ‘It gets me so angry when lads call girls slags like YOU HAD SEX WITH HER TOO’ with a third writing: ‘Disgusting behaviour from Sam!’

Following last night’s scenes, Sam’s representatives have said in a statement: ‘Sam deeply regrets his actions, words which were said when in a brief state of shock after having had a drink thrown at him.

‘Sam is extremely close to his mum and sisters and respect for women is something which is important to him.’

Towie airs Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe.

Top Gear fans are already missing Matt LeBlanc after the brand new trailer with Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff at the helm dropped on Sunday.

The Friends star, who announced that he was leaving the BBC show after series four last year after joining the presenting line-up back in 2016, bowed out of the series during last night’s episode.

As Matt closed the installment, he said: ‘Thank you all so much for watching. We’ve had a lot of fun making this series. Sometimes too much fun.’

He added: ‘Good night.’

Viewers weren’t prepared to say goodbye to Matt LeBlanc in the Top Gear driving seat (Picture: Twitter)

A few minutes of outtakes from the series quickly followed, which had viewers reminiscing about the good times, before it hit home hard that he won’t be returning.

Begging Matt not to go, one urged: ‘Please don’t leave Top Gear, you’re the best thing to happen to the show in ages!’ while another mourned: ‘Absolute shame it has to come to an end.’

It’s not all doom and gloom though as Paddy and Freddie will soon be taking over the show, with resident host Chris Harris, and have been whizzing around in a hearse to, you know, get us excited for their takeover.

The new series won’t be without crashes either, with Freddie accidentally plowing into an unmanned market stall during filming in France last year.

Looks like we’re gonna be in for a ride.

Holly Willoughby fans think she’s moving to the Us of A for a new job (Picture: Instagram/Holly Willoughby)

Is Holly Willoughby leaving us for America? That’s what This Morning fans have been in a panic over after the mum-of-three enjoyed a ‘whistle stop’ trip to New York over the weekend with the family.

The 38-year-old has been sharing pictures of her incredibly brief stay in the Big Apple, and her followers have immediately jumped to conclusions. Among them being that she’s moving to the US for a swanky new job Stateside.

Although, there is every chance she’s just taking the kids to see Disney on Ice and we all need to chill out for a second.

Posing alongside Elsa and Anna from Frozen (!) after watching the film’s stage adaptation on Broadway, Holly shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram, with the caption: ‘Whistle stop weekend in NY with the highlight being meeting Anna and Elsa, the stars of @frozenbroadway … the kids first Broadway experience and we all just LOVED it… as a huge fan it exceeded all expectations and that is saying something!

‘Thank you @disney for the tickets… you made our weekend! #letitgo#gifted ❄.’

Fans immediately asked: ‘What presenting job you been for?’

Holly stayed quiet but Metro.co.uk has reached out to her reps for comment.

The trip came after the Dancing on Ice host had to skip This Morning last week to attend her grandmother’s funeral, and subsequently also missed picking up her Tric Award which is now thought to be missing in a London McDonald’s.

Although, just hours after the service she was back in the studio to film the new series of Celebrity Juice with new team captain Paddy McGuinness and regular Stacey Solomon.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Akala perfectly calls out racial double standards as he explains black people don’t have monopoly on violence

Akala has candidly spoken about knife crime, where he urged the importance of putting an end to ‘young violence.’

The rapper was quizzed about his thoughts on knife crime by Piers Morgan when appearing on Good Morning Britain.

While chatting to the host, the 35-year-old called out racial double standards when asked if there was a racial element to the crimes.

He said: ‘There are several regions of the country – lets just look at the facts – that have higher murder rates than London does. Clearly throughout human history black people have not had anything sort of resembling a monopoly on violence.

‘Over the years some of the most horrendous knife attacks some of the victims and the perpetrators have been white and they’ve not been from London.’

The musician, who’s real name is Kingslee James McLean Daley, began to give a number of examples where victims and perpetrators were white – including a five-year-old who was stabbed to death by their mother.

He added: ‘When both the perpetrator and the victim are white, race suddenly becomes unimportant.’

Making his point clearer, the The Fire In The Booth hitmaker addressed Piers and said: ‘You will never be called upon to explain that not all white middle aged men are paedophiles, despite the fact that hundreds maybe thousands of them are convicted of sex offences every year.

‘Because it’s evident that not all middle aged white men are paedophiles.’

Piers replied: ‘That’s a fair point.’

The controversial host then went on to ask Akala about possible solutions to ‘young violence’ and how he thinks it can be stopped.

He explained how black people don’t have monopoly on violence (Picture: Redferns)

The activist looked upon what had happened in Glasgow over the past couple of years and suggested: ‘Coming into family’s lives and young people’s lives and diverting them away from violence as young as possible.’

The star later added: ‘I think mandatory self defense in schools could be a solution. Not because you’d teach anyone to face down people carrying knives.

‘However, when you practice self defense it gives you a level of self confidence.’

Drawing from personal experience, he continued: ‘I work in schools a lot and I see a number of essentially “good boys” carrying knives out of fear.

‘I think support for schools and community groups that already exist and we talk about but not to. I also think send advice to schools to reduce expulsions.’

Concluding on this thoughts, Akala said: ‘There are a whole more solutions instead of telling young people, “hey now, put down your knives.”‘

Vikings star Alicia Agneson is getting everyone hyped for the final season of the historical saga.

The 23-year-old took to Instagram where she shared an on set throwback to the days when she was portraying the character Freydis.

In the snap, the actress looked every inch a queen as she posed in a red fur cloak and golden crown.

Writing in the caption, the young star simply put: ‘Freydis,’ before tagging the Vikings account.

Fans were quick to comment, and couldn’t help but share their theories for the upcoming season.

‘Freydis may be gone, but Ivar will carry her around with him for the rest of his days. Losing her will eat him alive,’ one wrote before adding: ‘I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Freydis.

‘Ivar is going to see her in this Russian chick I’m certain. Stoked for season 6.’

Her follower was referring to the latest trailer, which dropped by the History Channel ahead of the series finale.

Despite Freydis being killed off by her husband Ivar The Boneless back in the second part of season five, Alicia was spotted in the short preview debuting a new look.

While wrapped up in Russia, she could be seen turning to the camera with long dark hair replacing her iconic blonde locks.

Some fans suspected that Freydis might have a new love in the form of the Russian prince.

However, others were more convinced that her character is still a goner and are worried that the show have brought Alicia back as a totally new character, hence the hairdo.

She recently asked fans if they were looking forward to the final season (Picture: @aliciaagneson/Instagram)

After the trailer dropped, the star took to Instagram where she shared a series of pictures from her time on set.

Here she joked about redecorating her bedroom in Kattegatt, before asking fans: ‘Who’s excited for S6 of Vikings?’

Creator of the show Michael Hirst recently announce that the next season would be the last – however, he did tease a spin-off series.

When chatting to Entertainment Tonight, the 66-year-old said: ‘There’s a very big chance that you could call Vikings: Part one that there’ll be a Vikings: Part two.’

The writer then added: ‘I know History and MGM are already discussing this.’

Although it has not yet been released when the next season will drop, it is thought that Vikings will return to our screens later this year.

The television personality bravely spoke out over the weekend, detailing that he allegedly quit the series after five years following a fall-out with co-star Stephen Webb, which he claims left him so distraught he considered taking his own life.

In the aftermath ofLove Island star Mike Thalassitis’ suicide, Chris tweeted: ‘My thoughts go out to the family of @MikeThalassitis.

‘Others are raising questions about reality aftercare. Totally agree. I’ve had none since being bullied off @C4Gogglebox & contemplated suicide last year.

‘I’m now realising it’s an industry-wide failing. This has got to change.’

Messages have been pouring in for the former Gogglebox star, with many thanking him for speaking out about his battles, with one writing: ‘Stay strong Chris you are much loved and missed.’

Chris told The Mirror that he’s been struggling with his mental health since leaving Gogglebox last year, explaining: ‘I’ve felt like a failure, I’ve been depressed, I struggle in social situations, I’m agoraphobic.

‘I’m worried about people coming up to me and asking why I left the show.

‘I felt I couldn’t tell the truth. I avoid going out now. I’ve been seeing a counsellor every week.’

Chris also revealed that his exit was triggered after he clashed with Stephen and after plans for a joint television venture crumbled.

‘We had a production company that was interested in taking us on,’ he said. ‘They wanted to get us out there as a brand.

‘But Stephen decided to copy me in to an email to the studio saying he was going to terminate our joint venture.

Stephen has declined to comment.

Will Steph and Jonathan find true love on Married At First Sight? (Picture: Channel 4)

It’s time for more complete strangers to see whether they can live together in wedded bliss as Married At First Sight returns to Channel 4.

The show, which is now in its fourth series, sees the couples paired by a panel of experts, in the hope they can find romance and live happily ever after as husband and wife – even though they don’t know each other.

It’s not had a great track record in helping its couples find true love, mind – as the ultimate divorce rate of those matched on the show is higher than those who stay together.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not compulsive viewing – and we can’t wait to see what unfolds as the latest hopefuls head up the aisle.

So just when is it back?

When is Married At First Sight back on Channel 4 and what time is it on?

The new series kicks off on Channel 4 on Wednesday night at 9pm.

It’s an hour-long show and runs for four weeks.

Who is taking part in the show this year?

Among those we will be meeting in the series are Jonathan and Steph, who are aiming to find long-term commitment with one another in spite of their 11-year age gap (he is 39 and she is 28).

You’ll also get to meet Londoners Jack and Verity – who are putting their fate in the hands of the show experts after Jack admitted he had ‘had a nightmare with dating over the past few years’.

While the show has thrown many weddings in its time on air, not one of the couples it has matched have stayed the course.

That hasn’t stopped people from wanting to take part though, with Channel 4 revealing that over 7,000 people applied to be in the new series.

Montana Brown broke down in tears during This Morning today as she revealed the moment she discovered her close friend Mike Thalassitis had died.

The Love Island star was found dead on a North London forest on Friday night, with police confirming the 26-year-old passed away from suicide.

Montana – who spent the summer of 2017 with Mike in the Love Island villa – bravely opened up about the tragedy, and sobbed as she told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield how she forgot to reply to his final text to her.

‘One of my friends text me saying I don’t know if this is true but I’ve heard Mike took his own life. I was sat in the pub and thought, “That’s not true.”

‘I text him to say, “There’s this really weird rumour going around, call me when you get this.” It didn’t deliver, it just had the one tick on Whatsapp, and then that rang alarm bells. It went straight to answer phone and I felt sick.’

Montana then revealed that Mike text her two days before his body was found.

‘I’m kicking myself because he text me and I just didn’t reply, just because I’m really bad with my phone,’ she said.

‘I just wish I’d replied.’

Holly and Phil immediately consoled the grief-stricken star, assuring she ‘couldn’t possible know’.

An abundance of Love Islanders have paid tribute to Mike, with many pals insisting the ‘Muggy Mike’ character fans knew him as couldn’t have been farther from the persona they called a friend.

Chris Hughes urged fans not to refer to Mike by his stage name in an impassioned post on Saturday night, but Montana insisted the former footballer was a fan of his ‘Muggy’ moniker.

‘I feel like he had a part to play which was Muggy Mike,’ she explained, with a fond smile. ‘I think he quite enjoyed his name for what it was and he got a lot of jobs based on that name – it gave him a buzz.’

Love Island has since come under fire from some of its stars, who claimed they weren’t sufficiently prepared for life after the villa.

ITV have since told Metro.co.uk: ‘Care for our Islanders is a process the show takes very seriously and is a continuous process for all those taking part in the show.

‘We ensure that all of our Contributors are able to access psychological support before, during and after appearing on the show.

‘The programme will always provide ongoing support when needed and where appropriate.’

Jimmy opened up about returning to the show (Picture: ITV)

The Voice’s Jimmy Balito opened up about performing after the death of his dad during Lorraine today, explaining that he was a ‘proper showman’.

The 22-year-old, who previously auditioned for the show back in 2018 but failed to get past the first round, tragically lost his father to cancer back in January.

Despite his grief, Jimmy bravely decided to carry on the competition and sung Radiohead’s High and Dry as the knockouts began.

The star spoke to Lorraine Kelly (Picture: ITV)

Speaking out about the song, the hopeful explained he wanted to ‘start anew’.

‘[It was] important just to go out there and smash that and just finish all that chapter for the family and just really start anew and move on from it really,’ he said.

Opening up about his dad’s death and how he’s coping, he added: ‘I’m still in a bit of a weird place with it all, mentally. Two crazy things happening at once in your life…’ before trailing off.

And it’s clear where he gets his love of performing from.

Jimmy gave an emotional performance (Picture: ITV)

‘He was a proper showman – a real people person,’ he told Lorraine Kelly. ‘He always used to come out and entertain.’

The last time that Jimmy was on the show for the Battles round, his dad was seen in the audience supporting him and told the cameras: ‘I’m so proud and he is the future of me… and the future of us.

‘No doubt about that.’

Jimmy paid tribute to his late dad Colin on Instagram in January, writing: ‘He was the greatest, kindest, funniest and humble man you could ever wish to meet.

‘I loved him with all my heart and will continue to strive to be even half the man that he was.’

This weekend saw the highly-anticipated knockouts show, with judges Olly Murs, Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and Will.i.am only being able to pick one act from their teams to go through.

Luckily, they had got Anne-Marie, James Arthur, Olly Alexander and Nicole Scherzinger on hand to help them make their decisions.

The Secretary of State for Health and Social care Matt Hancock says organisations have a duty of care to look out for those they ‘make famous overnight.’

Speaking at a conference just one day after it was confirmed that Love Island‘s Mike Thalassitis died from suicide aged 26, the MP touched on how sudden fame can impact stars massively.

Although the ITV2 show has defended care for contestants’ mental health, Matt said: ‘The sudden exposure of massive fame can have significant impacts on people.

‘There’s a duty on organisations that make people famous overnight to look after them after that.’ (sic).

A spokesperson for Love Island confirmed that aftercare is offered on the show, stating: ‘Care for our Islanders is a process the show takes very seriously and is a continuous process for all those taking part in the show.

‘We ensure that all of our Contributors are able to access psychological support before, during and after appearing on the show. The programme will always provide ongoing support when needed and where appropriate.

‘We also discuss at length with all of our Islanders, before and after the show, how their lives might change and they have access to support and advice to help with this.’

Tributes for Mike have been flooding in since his death was confirmed on Saturday, with Love Island’s Chris Hughes urging fans not to call him ‘Muggy Mike’.

Meanwhile, fellow Celebs Go Dating co-star Sam Thompson said he ‘could have done more’ in a heartbreaking tribute to his friend posted on Instagram.

Montana Brown broke down on This Morning as she revealed  that Mike text her two days before his body was discovered.

On Sunday it was confirmed that Mike died by suicide after his body was found hanged in a North London park.

Love Island is expected to return to ITV later this year.

Alex Høgh Andersen has kept a low profile after filming for Vikings officially wrapped up.

But while he’s been practicing his photography skills and enjoying his time away from set, the 24-year-old randomly teased the final series on his Instagram story – and we just can’t deal.

Taking to the social media platform, the star casually stood behind a framed picture of himself in character as Ivar The Boneless.

Chomping down on his lunch, and looking like he was really enjoying that food, Alex then slowly turned to face the camera.

Shrugging off the picture, he began to raise yet another image of Ivar up to his face as the camera quickly stopped rolling.

Probably just before he broke into a fit of laughter.

The star appears to be loving life after Vikings came to its natural end, despite his fellow co-stars missing him.

Earlier this week Marco Ilsø, who plays Hvitserk in the saga, pined over his onscreen brothers.

Taking to Instagram the 24-year-old shared a picture from set where he was sat in between both Alex and Jordan Patrick Smith.

Having no words to say for the caption, the actor allowed the snap to do the talking – however, his viking buddies couldn’t help but comment.

Writing to their fellow warrior Alex remarked: ‘Still one of my favourite photos,’ while Jordan, who plays Ubbe, joked about his appearance, by adding: ‘I look,’ before inserting the okay hand emoji.

As well as this, their close pal Georgia Hirst, who is the creator’s daughter as well as Torvi in the drama, wrote: ‘I miss you guys,’ as she longed after their friendship.

Despite not seeing the trio since filming came to and end, the 24-year-old actress has met up with Katheryn Winnick, who portrays the shieldmaiden Lagertha.

While on a business trip to Los Angeles, the Oxford native made sure to catch up with her BFF – and they were pure friendship goals.

Sharing a picture of the pair looking particularly bougie in some Californian hot spot, the Ravers star wrote: ‘I love my Kat.’

After returning home, Georgia held her first ever Instagram live stream, where she praised the 41-year-old while chatting to her fans.

‘I love Katheryn Winnick,’ she squealed when someone named dropped the director in the comments.

‘She is my favourite person in the whole wide world, I love her so much.’

While it’s still unknown when the next season of Vikings will air, it’s thought that the final will drop on the History Channel later this year.

Megan McKenna opened up about her split with the late Mike Thalassitis on Celebs Go Dating weeks before he passed away.

Mike, who was found dead aged 26 on Saturday, was in a relationship with the former Towie star for seventh months last year, having confirmed the split in July 2018.

Speaking about their romance, Megan told Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson: ‘I think my last relationship, I was kind of… I think I definitely fell in love.’

Upset by the conversation, the 26-year-old emotionally shut down the chat, telling the dating experts that she didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

At the time that the couple decided to go their separate ways, Megan told Good Morning Britain presenters: ‘I do think everything happens for a reason.

‘I’ve been away, I’ve cleared my head, I feel good about myself, I’m doing my music, I’m working on an album.’

When asked whether there was a chance of rekindling the relationship, Megan replied: ‘No. I just feel like everything does happen for a reason and the path I’m going in my life right now is definitely not that way.’

Months after Megan and Mike went their separate ways, Mike denied claims of ‘revenge porn’ as Megan refuted claims that she ‘trashed his house and punched him.’

Weeks before they broke up, Megan had expressed a desire in marrying Mike and having children.

Telling OK! Magazine in July, she enthused: ‘I reckon we’ll live together soon. He stays over a lot, so it would definitely work. I do want to marry him – we’d have such an amazing wedding!

‘I want three children and I want them all to look like Mike – he’s got nice tanned skin and green eyes.’

Celebs Go Dating honoured Mike, who appeared on the series in February last year, over the weekend with a tribute at the end of the episode.

Celebs Go Dating continues tonight at 9pm on E4.

Homes Under The Hammer host Lucy Alexander defended by presenter over s***e remark
Lucy Alexander has come under fire for swearing in a tweet (Picture: BBC)

Former Homes Under The Hammer presenter Lucy Alexander came under fire on Sunday for swearing in a tweet.

Yep, really.

The 48-year-old television personality, who announced she was quitting the BBC daytime series in 2016, was caught up in a heated discussion when she expressed her delight that Ricky Gervais had given her some love on social media.

Announcing the news to her 24,100 Twitter followers, she wrote: ‘After my shite week.. @rickygervais has only gone and ‘liked’ TWO of my tweets today! #daymade.’ (sic).

Lucy Alexander used the word ‘sh**e’ in a tweet over the weekend (Picture: Twitter)

But one follower, Scott, wasn’t too impressed and tutted her for her language, causing Soccer AM host Helen Chamberlain to leap to Lucy’s defense, snapping: ‘For s***e? Really?’

Lucy then commented that she doesn’t often use rude language, before Helen pointed out: ‘Lucy, do you ever notice it’s never other women who tell you to mind your language?’

The troll was then quick to respond, asking the Soccer AM presenter not to assume their gender, which led Helen to clap back: ‘Do you get as annoyed with your male friends for swearing?’

Scott later scorned Helen for making his ‘throw-away, lighthearted’ comment into a ‘big deal’ putting an end to the exchange.

Their Twitter discussion comes just one day after The Chase’s Anne Hegerty took down I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! co star Emily Atack’s troll down in the best way possible… by calling him a ‘c**t.’

Lucy quit BBC property show Homes Under The Hammer after 13 years, telling her fans at the time: ‘It’s with s huge heavy heart I’m stepping down, it’s not the outcome I wanted but to pursue other work and a commercial deal I had to leave.

‘I will miss my TV husband @TVMartinRoberts hugely we have had 13 happy years together!  time to move on though.’

Homes Under The Hammer continues Tuesday at 10am on BBC One.

Emily Atack troll branded a ‘c**t’ by Anne Hegerty is actually defending vile post

An online troll, who suggested Emily Atack wasn’t attractive enough to play Debbie Harry in the upcoming season of Urban Myths, has defended the post which riled up The Chase star Anne Hegerty.

The former The Inbetweeners actress rightly shared her excitement at the weekend that she’ll be taking on the role of Blondie’s iconic frontwoman in the series which explores the weird and wonderful legendary stories from showbiz.

Sounds like a hoot.

However, keyboard warrior Steve, out of nowhere, took Emily’s big news and put a pin in it in less than 120 characters, tweeting below the I’m A Celebrity hero’s post: ‘Sorry, you’re just not pretty enough.’

Well, don’t come after Emily if you’re not prepared to go up against The Governess, as Anne snapped: ‘What a sad c**t you are, Steve.’

That’s game, set and match to The Chaser, right?

After Anne was celebrated by fans far and wide, Steve has since stressed that he didn’t mean anything malicious by slamming Emily over her looks; it was all a joke and we’re just missing the point.

‘I did actually tweet Emily back that it was in jest, and she liked the original tweet,’ he wrote.

Anne is somewhat of a Twitter legend, having previously revealed in the jungle last year that women chat her up on the microblogging site.

And earlier this month, the 60-year-old quizmaster set the record straight on the platform after The Chase fans became concerned that Paul Sinha – aka The Sinnerman – was stepping down from the show.

As for Anne, the brain box confirmed to Metro.co.uk that she has no plans to leave the popular teatime show either, insisting that it will always remain her number one priority.

‘I love doing The Chase, I’m absolutely loyal to it and it will always be my top priority,’ she told us. ‘I don’t intend ever to leave!’

Urban Myths returns to Sky Arts later this year while you can catch The Chase every day from 5pm on ITV.

The Big Bang Theory producer confirms which three characters have changed the most ahead of sitcom finale

The Big Bang Theory cast have well and truly blossomed (Picture: CBS/Metro.co.uk)

The Big Bang Theory cast have come a long way since we first met them way back in 2007 when the sitcom premiered.

We’ve seen some pretty huge life-changing moments over the past decade and a bit, including weddings, babies, break-ups, and now that 12 years have passed and the finale episode date has been confirmed, we wanted to see which character has undergone the biggest transformation.

Metro.co.uk caught up with one of the show’s executive producers, Eric Kaplan, to discuss who’s come the furthest – and it turns out there’s more than one.

‘I would say it’s a three way tie with Leonard, Penny and Sheldon,’ Eric told us.

Sheldon Cooper was an isolate at the beginning of The Big Bang Theory (Picture: CBS)

Talking about the protagonist of the show, played by Jim Parsons, Eric explained that he was ‘initially was an isolate.’

‘He’s actually fallen in love with a woman and now he’s married, that’s a lot of growth,’ he added.

Eric continued: ‘Penny and Leonard in different ways have found completion in the other and they have developed and changed because they’re married now.

‘They found each other and they fell in love and Leonard learned to get out of his shell and appreciate his need to emotionally connect with the outside world.

‘Penny became more confident in herself as a autonomous maker of meaning.’

None of the characters work without each other and Eric thinks of them as an ensemble.

‘If I’m writing a show about two people who are in conflict, I require both of them. I think it’s interesting that people come to think of characters as independent things.

‘They’re all who they are because of how they interact with each other.’

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS in the US.

Saira Khan said she was severely depressed on The Apprentice as the Loose Women discussed the tragic suicide of Mike Thalassitis.

The 48-year-old panellist, who appeared on the BBC show in 2005, admitted that she faced her own struggles coming off a reality television show, as Love Island stars called for better mental care from bosses once they’ve left the villa.

Speaking on the ITV lunchtime show, the Dancing On Ice contestant opened up about her depression following her appearance on The Apprentice – and revealed that she struggled with the fame and nasty comments that came with it.

Saira explained that people passed judgementswhich made her feel very low and told the ladies that she was ‘depressed for a very long time’.

‘I came into this business from a reality show and I was an ordinary person,’ Saira said. ‘I was in my thirties. So you go from an ordinary life and then you’re put onto TV and what people see is an edited version of you.

‘They don’t know anything about you apart from what they see on TV.’

She added on Monday’s episode: ‘People felt like the owned me.’

‘You do go into a negative spiral. The only reason I got out of it was because I had a very supportive husband.’

Before the show went into its ad break, Saira pleaded with viewers at home, especially men, to look after their mental health.

‘Please, if you’re a young man out there please seek help,’ she urged.

Her comments come after Love Island’s Jack Fowler and I’m A Celeb’s Jake Quickenden both pointed out that the rise to sudden fame has a ‘negative’ side.

Jack insisted that ‘prevention is better than cure’ while Jake spoke on Jeremy Vine show today, saying that ‘social media can make anyone down, no matter how strong you are.’

Reacting to the backlash which followed the news that Mike’s body had been found in a North London park at the weekend, ITV have since told Metro.co.uk: ‘Care for our Islanders is a process the show takes very seriously and is a continuous process for all those taking part in the show.

‘We ensure that all of our Contributors are able to access psychological support before, during and after appearing on the show.

‘The programme will always provide ongoing support when needed and where appropriate.’

Netflix’s new documentary The Legend of Cocaine Island follows regular guy’s hunt for $2million worth of buried drugs in the Caribbean

Netflix’s new comedy documentary The Legend of Cocaine Island might well be the next on your list of weird and wonderful stuff to watch – and the trailer is packed with hilarity.

The documentary follows the real-life story of a bunch of men from America’s south as they band together to chase their fortune in a legendary pot of gold to be found in the Caribbean.

Except it’s not actually gold. It’s cocaine. Buried cocaine.

It’s basically a ‘what not to do’ (Picture: Netflix)

‘Northern fairy tales start off “once upon a time…”’ a man in a voiceover begins, speaking in the recently released trailer. ‘Southern fairy tales start off, “Y’all ain’t gonna believe this s***.”‘

He continued: ‘Cocaine. Over 70 pounds. Just waiting for someone to dig it up.’

Another man added: ‘I am a dreamer, but I’m not a greedy person. I wanted to take care of my family.’

Directed by Theo Love, the documentary follows Rodney Hyden, a small business owner and family man from Central Florida.

They didn’t know what they were getting themselves into (Picture: Netflix)

After he loses his fortune to the Great Recession, and in the midst of mounting debt, he hears a story that sounds like it’s straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean (but if it was set in Breaking Bad).

Hyden hears whispers about a map that leads whoever possesses it to a mythical $2million stash of cocaine buried on an island in the Caribbean.

He joins a group of misfits and together they embark on a journey to find said drugs – without any prior drug-running experience.

What follows is a lot of acting like Scarface and emulating some of pop culture’s most infamous drug lords. ‘I was talking that smack, that drug talk,’ Hyden says in the trailer. ‘Say hello to my little friend!’

The documentary premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival under the title White Tide: The Legend of Culebra.

The Legend of Cocaine Island premieres globally on Netflix 29 March.
