Piers Morgan has a dig at Britain’s Got Talent by claiming ratings have plummeted since he discovered Susan Boyle

Piers Morgan had a cheeky swipe at Britain’s Got Talent over the ratings.

Piers was a Britain’s Got Talent judge from 2007 to 2009, which was the year that Susan Boyle became a household name.

The Good Morning Britain host joked that people had started switching off since he stopped appearing. But he offered to make a comeback in exchange for a hefty pay rise.

Piers was speaking on Wednesday’s show about the film Yesterday, in which Ed Sheeran has a role.

He said: ‘Ed Sheeran is basically a busker isn’t he? He’s the highest-paid busker in the history of busking.

‘I like buskers. There’s something about the original form of finding talent. Walking along and there’s someone just standing there doing something.’

His co-host Susanna Reid said: ‘Since you’ve stopped doing Britain’s Got Talent you got to do it another way.’

Few could have predicted the record breaking, international success following her inspiring performance on Britain's Got Talent. The Susan Boyle story will candidly chart her journey from the small Scottish village of Blackburn to superstardom. Including exclusive interviews with Susan, friends and celebrity fans, the real Susan Boyle story will be told alongside spectacular performances.

He fired back: ‘Since I stopped doing it and the ratings halved, do you mean that?

’20 million watched the Susan Boyle series and about 8 or 9 million last time. I’m doing the maths and Simon, my fee has gone up to £4million now and three Ferraris.’

The Britain’s Got Talent panel is currently Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

This year’s show was won by Chelsea pensioner Colin Thackery, who is going to use the £250,000 prize money to help his grandchildren buy homes.

Meanwhile Susan revealed that she still fancies Piers – who she dubbed ‘Piersy baby’ 10 years ago – after all this time.

‘His wife might not like this,’ Susan coyly told Lorraine Kelly earlier this month. ‘I still like him a bit.’

‘I’ve grown up a bit,’ she shuffled. ‘I don’t know what to say – I’m lost for words! I’m a single fish; I’m happy.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.

Elma Pazar is claimed to have dumped her boyfriend just days before entering the Love Island villa, and he’s not exactly happy about it.

The 26-year-old entered the competition last week as a new ‘bombshell’, and was dumped from the villa in last night’s episode alongside Joe Garratt.

According to The Sun, a claimed ex boyfriend of Elma’s was dumped days before she joined the show – despite telling him she wouldn’t appear on it.

Speaking to the publication, a source close to Tommy Hadjioannou, said: ‘Tommy has been left fuming and he’s been telling everyone and anyone how she mugged him off.

‘He feels like a mug as she promised to him she wouldn’t leave him and would stay with him.’

They later claim Tommy wants Elma ‘exposed for what she is’.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Elma’s reps for comment.

Elma was coupled up with Anton Danyluk on the show, who were voted one of the most least compatible couples by the other Islanders alongside Joe and Lucie Donlan.

Joe has been criticised over his ‘controlling’ behaviour around Lucie, with the reality star’s mother recently defending him following his exit from the villa.

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm.

Love Island’s Joe Garratt still thinks he has a future with Lucie Donlan despite being axed

Love Island’s Joe Garratt still thinks he has a future with Lucie Donlan despite being eliminated from the ITV2 reality show.

The 22-year-old contestant, who was booted out of the Majorcan villa last night alongside Elma Pazar, came under fire in recent episodes for telling his love interest he wasn’t happy about her blossoming friendship with Tommy Fury.

But upon his exit, Joe revealed that he would love to continue his romance with Lucie and confessed: ‘I’ve definitely fallen for the girl. I do hope there is a future for us.

‘Me and Lucie definitely had a lot more to give but it is what it is. You have to take it.’

Joe, who’s ‘controlling behaviour’ towards Lucie has been called out by Women’s Aid, also told Lucie that he’d be waiting for her on the outside.

Before he left the confines of the compound, Joe apologised for disapproving of Lucie hanging out with Tommy, telling her: ‘I kinda let other people’s opinions about the you and Tommy thing get to me. I know I never should have.

‘Looking back at it I regret even doubting anything because I do trust you. I trust him. I trust us.

‘I’ve never met a girl like you ever. You’re like a unicorn. You’re completely different to everything I’ve ever come across.

‘You’re the surfer chick, you get on with guys. I’m completely fine with that.

He added: ‘I have definitely fallen for you. I know that you will eventually be my girlfriend – 100 per cent – if you will have me.’

Joe’s mum has defended him over recent ‘abuse’ claims, telling Mail Online: ‘I see him every day of the week and there’s no way he would make a girl cry. He’s a normal, loving 22-year-old lad.’

Joe was reportedly sent to a safe house following his eviction from the villa.

Love Island airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.

Who left Love Island last night and what will happen to their partners?

The Love Island villa is looking a little more empty this morning after two of its number were dumped – leaving two others single.

Tuesday night’s show unleashed a dramatic twist after the islanders were asked to vote on which couples they felt were the two least compatible – with the bottom two facing potential elimination.

However, there was a shock for the unlucky four as Caroline Flack revealed that the least popular from each couple would be dumped and would leave the villa immediately.

So who got the boot from the island, who got left behind – and what will happen to them now they have been uncoupled?

Here’s how it all unfolded…

Who left Love Island last night?

Last night’s dramatic show saw Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt and Anton Danyluk and Elma Pazar named as the least compatible couples by the others.

As news that one from each couple would be dumped began to sink in, Caroline Flack revealed that the public had voted to save Lucie and Anton – leaving Joe and Elma to leave the villa immediately.

Joe – who faced heavy criticism in recent days after being accused of ‘possessive behaviour’ and ‘gaslighting’ towards Lucie – revealed afterwards that despite his early exit he hoped they could still have a future.

Joe Garratt and Elma Pazar on Love Island

‘I’ve definitely fallen for the girl so yeah, I do hope there’s a future for us,’ he said. ‘Me and Lucie definitely had a lot more to give, but it is what it is. You just have to take it.’

What will happen to their partners?

It’s not yet clear what will happen now to the newly single Anton and Lucie – although with regular recouplings and new arrivals on the island we doubt they’ll be left on their own for long.

That said, a preview for the next episode due to air tonight sees Lucie wondering whether she should also leave the villa now that Joe is no longer there – so could she be about to pack her things and head back to the real world too?

We’ll just have to keep watching to find out.

Love Island continues on ITV2 on Wednesday night at 9pm.

Lucifer fan petition for season 6 smashes through 50,000 signatures

Lucifer fans have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with and after saving the series from extinction once before, they’re trying to do it again with a petition for season six.

With the news that season five would be the show’s last still fresh in their mind, a petition calling for a season six soon started, gathering momentum in the fandom.

Now, they’ve smashed through their 50,000 signature target – and are now hoping to topple the 75,000 mark.

Their efforts have not gone unnoticed by the cast members, with Lauren German (who plays Detective Chloe Decker on the series) encouraging fans to make their voices heard ahead of the fifth and final season.

Speaking online about the petition, she wrote: ‘Lucifans, if you want a season 6 or more let it be heard. We love that you love #Lucifer your support on social media is cherished and important.

‘And if it’s only a season 5…I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. We won’t let you down. But if you want more let everyone know.’

In the meantime, showrunner Ildy Modrovich has confessed that she would want to keep writing the show if given the opportunity.

It’s already been confirmed that the finale season will consist of another 10 episodes and that bosses are going to ‘make every minute count.’

DB Woodside, who plays Lucifer’s angelic brother Amenadiel on the series, also admitted he was sad to see the story end – but wanted fans to look on the positive side of the show going out on a high.

Speaking at Oz Comic Con, he said: ‘‘There’s never a perfect time to end a show,’ he continued. ‘We didn’t want to be one of those shows people love, that you slowly see kind of dying.’

‘As bittersweet as it is, we get to leave the show on such a high.’

As to what to expect in season five, Kevin Alejandro, who plays Detective Dan Espinoza on the show, said that he is hoping that his volatile character will ‘unravel at the seams’ as Tom Ellis’s character Lucifer is revealed to all to be the actual devil.

He told us: ‘It could mess him up really bad, you know? I don’t know, man, it could really mess him up. I think he’ll definitely go down a darker route if that happens.

‘If I were in control of where the character went, I’d have him unravel at the seams, to find the truth out. Much the way Chloe sort of unravelled through fear for this last year.’

‘I suspect Dan would do the same thing, and then turn dark. Try to figure out a way to get him out of their lives,’ he added.

Lucifer seasons 1, 2 and 3 are now on Amazon Prime Video, and season 4 is available on Netflix.

The Last Leg’s Adam Hills faces off with Piers Morgan on live TV and it quickly gets awkward: ‘You’re a horrible human being’

Adam Hills had an awkward face off with Piers Morgan in a TV interview over his tweet about Daniel Craig carrying his daughter Ella in a papoose.

After Piers claimed it ’emasculated’ the actor, Adam fired off his own tweet at the presenter, saying: ‘Oh f**k off Piers you mercenary. You’ll honestly say anything for ratings/cash/views.’

So when Adam and his Last Leg co-host Alex Brooker appeared on Wednesday’s show, Piers immediately brought up his comment and gave him ‘a chance to show a little bit of humility’.

In response, Adam noted that when Piers’ tweet was shown on screen, the hashtag he previously added ’emasculatedBond’ wasn’t there.

He said: ‘On your original tweet if I’m not mistaken you used the word ’emasculated’, so you were calling into question his masculinity for looking after his own child, which I think there are several issues with.

‘I know you, Piers. Most of this is an act. Either you are a terribly odious, horrible human being who believes everything you say on TV. Or you’re pretending to be a terribly odious, horrible human being in order to be paid.’

Piers shot back: ‘Your audience would all be roaring if you said that and I was on your show. Yet you would find on this show that my apparently odious views are shared by 90 per cent of the wider British public.

Adam Hills

Piers argued that his views were shared by most of the UK (Picture: ITV)

‘Do you think The Last Leg is not representative of the wider public, who are just a bunch of smart-arse snowflake liberals all laughing at people who have the more mainstream views?’

Adam replied: ‘Is that worse than being a half-arsed snowflake liberal but pretending not to be? Which is what you do.’

Susanna Reid interrupted to try and move the segment on, saying: ‘Alex, why do I feel like we’ve stumbled into a personal row here?’

Piers found the exchange with Adam hilarious and added: ‘I love The Last Leg, because it is provocative and it can be rude.’

But the Last Leg host got in the last word, telling Piers: ‘Do you know the lovely thing about that tweet of mine? Earlier in the show you accidentally put the wrong date, I’m assuming it’s still gonna be appropriate on that date.’

Smoothing things over, Piers joked that he and Adam were ‘going to go and have a fight’ just as the episode ended.

This isn’t the first time the pair have butted heads, with Adam snubbing Piers when he was a guest on the show in 2017.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.

Simon Cowell cuts 12-year-old’s performance on America’s Got Talent: ‘That was terrible’

Simon Cowell stopped a 12-year-old girl’s America’s Got Talent audition halfway through because he wasn’t a fan of the backing track.

The 59-year-old judge, who tried to talk former X Factor panelist Robbie Williams out of quitting, wasn’t wowed by Ansley Burns’ accompaniment to Aretha Franklin’s hit song Faith and requested she sang it again but a cappella.

‘I don’t think this backing track was working for you,’ Simon told her in front of a packed crowd. ‘I mean it was a horrible, horrible backing track so I don’t think we can judge you properly on this, I really don’t.

‘We really like you, but that was terrible.’

Ansley stood in shock as Simon continued to bash the tune, telling her: ‘If you’re going to sing Aretha you’ve got to have a great track.’

Simon then offered Ansley his personal water and walked up to the stage to give it to her before she performed for the judges once more.

The South Carolina tween stepped up to the mic and belted out the iconic track again, this time receiving a standing ovation from the judges and audiences.

All the panelists were blown away by Ansley, with new judge Gabrielle Union telling her: ‘I think your level of professionalism at 12 — I mean, I work with people three, four, five times your age who don’t have the talent that you have in your little finger.

‘You are really something special.’

Meanwhile, Simon praised: ‘We’re gonna remember you; you have a great voice.’

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club cancelled by MTV after only one season

Lindsay Lohan’s reality series has been axed by MTV after only one series.

The series, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, was the actresses attempt at taking on the reality TV world, however unfortunately failed to keep the numbers needed to give it another outing.

The series flopped and failed to bring in strong numbers (Picture: MTV)

Over the course of the show, Lindsay was seen on the Greek Island of Mykonos as she attempted to launch her own bar – with the staff members also becoming secondary characters in her life.

According to Page Six, plans for a second season were in place, where Lohan’s troubled family life would take more of a centre stage.

‘It would be turned into a show about Lindsay and [her mother] Dina and [sister] Ali, [but] that wasn’t going to happen,’ a source told them.

‘[There wasn’t] enough drama. They wanted “breakdowns”. That’s not where [Lohan] is at with her life anymore,’ they added. ‘Their personal business doesn’t need to be aired on television; it’s already in the papers anyway.’

The bar itself, where Lindsay’s iconic hair-flipping video was shot, has also been branded a ‘waste of time’ by locals and in just under a year has been presumed to have closed down.

Even celebrity fans backing her corner on the show didn’t help, as Miley Cyrus defended her after the show received negative reviews from fans.

In the trailer, Lindsay was heard saying: ‘I’ve gone through so much in my past. People have always given me trouble for going to clubs.

‘So, why don’t I just open my own? Boss. Bitch.’

Seems like, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

Love Island’s Lucie Donlan could be the first contestant to walk from the series following Joe Garratt’s axe.

The surfer was left devastated when Joe was booted from the Majorcan villa alongside Elma Pazar in scenes that aired yesterday and now the sneak preview for the forthcoming episode sees her questioning whether or not she should follow him.

‘If he was in my position what would he do?’ Lucie panics in the Beach Hut.

‘Would he come with me or would he stay?’

Lucie is later seeing having a heart-to-heart with Anton Danyluk, telling him: ‘I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to do now.’

After leaving the compound last night, Joe revealed that he would love to continue his romance with Lucie and that he sees a future between the pair.

‘I’ve definitely fallen for the girl. I do hope there is a future for us,’ he told the cameras.

‘Me and Lucie definitely had a lot more to give but it is what it is. You have to take it.’

Last week, Joe’s ‘controlling behaviour’ towards Lucie came under fire and he was called out by charity Women’s Aid over his uneasiness of his love interest hanging out with Tommy Fury.

Before exiting, Joe apologised for his stance and told Lucie: ‘I kinda let other people’s opinions about the you and Tommy thing get to me. I know I never should have.

‘Looking back at it I regret even doubting anything because I do trust you. I trust him. I trust us.

The Good Place season 4 has a release date and we’re not ready to say goodbye

NBC has confirmed when The Good Place’s final season four will be hitting our screens and we’re still not ready to say goodbye.

Brand new episodes of Kristen Bell’s comedy will drop every Thursday with the first installment landing our way Thursday 26 September at 9pm in the US.

Show creator Mike Schur announced earlier this month that the heaven/hell sitcom would be coming to an end after the forthcoming installment, breaking the news on social media.

He wrote: ‘After The Good Place was picked up for season two, the writing staff and I began to map out, as best we could, the trajectory of the show.

‘Given the ideas we wanted to explore, and the pace at which we wanted to present those ideas, I began to feel like four seasons – just over 50 episodes – was the right lifespan.’

Mike continued: ‘At times over the past few years we’ve been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making this show is a rare creatively fulfilling joy.

‘At the end of the day, we don’t want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant. As such, the upcoming fourth season will be our last.

Jameela Jamil, who plays socialite Tahani on the series, addressed the heartbreaking news on Twitter, adding: ‘YOU HEARD CORRECT.

‘This next season is the FINAL season of @nbcthegoodplace because Mike Schur is the classiest motherforkingshirtball ever and wanted to leave you at the right time in the right way.

‘We love you and we hope you love our goodbye.’

The Good Place’s last season will consist of 14 episodes and the final installment will have a run-time of one-hour.

‘It is a full, series-ending, wrap-up kind of a thing,’ Mike told TVLine. ‘So it will have one gigantic story that will serve as the end of the series for everybody.’

The Good Place is available to stream on Netflix.

Lorraine Kelly tells off ‘minx’ Piers Morgan for dragging up Esther McVey beef with awkward dig

Piers Morgan couldn’t help but drag up the beef between Lorraine Kelly and Esther McVey once again on Good Morning Britain today.

Lorraine previously snubbed McVey on GMB, despite them both working on GMTV together back in the day.

Piers has taken every chance he can to remind Lorraine of her shady moment.

He brought up Lorraine’s appearance on The Last Leg recently, where she said she was freaked out by Piers telling her he was turned on by her getting angry.

‘So I have been sweetness and light and happy for the rest of the week,’ she added.

Piers took the opportunity to remind her of her comments on Wednesday’s GMB, when Lorraine told him and co-host Susanna Reid she wasn’t invited to Ascot.

‘Tell me what it’s like, bring me back a sandwich,’ she said.

Piers told her: ‘You’ll see the selfies. I’ve got a new hat. Bought myself a new hat for the first time in 20 years.’

‘Maybe I’ll get invited next year,’ Lorraine said.

Piers replied: ‘I would have invited you as my guest if you hadn’t been so rude about me on national TV. I’m gonna take Esther McVey instead.’

Susanna cringed and hid her face behind her notes as Lorraine burst out laughing.

‘You are such a minx,’ she told him.

Lorraine previously said she had snubbed McVey because of her policies.

‘It was Monday morning and I was fed up because I’m fed up with all the toxic political landscape and we deserve better and I think she just… that was the final straw kind of thing,’ she said on The Last Leg.

Love Island deny Lucie Donlan has quit the villa after Joe Garratt axe

Love Island producers have confirmed Lucie Donlan is still in the villa after Joe Garratt’s savage axing last night, squashing rumours that she’s quit.

Joe was dumped alongside Elma Pazar in scenes that aired yesterday after fellow islanders voted for the least compatible couples, with viewers given the power to send one person from each couple home.

Bosses told Metro.co.uk that 21-year-old surfer Lucie very much remains in the Majorcan compound alongside the rest of the series five intake.

Despite this, the sneak preview for tonight’s episode shows the contestant doubtful about whether or not to remain in the competition, confessing in the Beach Hut: ‘If he was in my position what would he do?

‘Would he come with me or would he stay?’

Lucie later has a heart-to-heart with Anton Danyluk, admitting to him: ‘I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to do now.’

Before Joe left the villa for good, he told cameras that he remains confidant he has a future with Lucie on the outside despite not remaining on the show.

‘I’ve definitely fallen for the girl. I do hope there is a future for us,’ he said.

‘Me and Lucie definitely had a lot more to give but it is what it is. You have to take it.’

Joe also revealed that he’d like to go official with Lucie one day, telling her: ‘I have definitely fallen for you. I know that you will eventually be my girlfriend – 100 per cent – if you will have me.’

So far three contestants have been dumped from the current series and Joe and Elma follow Callum Macleod, who was axed on day five.

Meanwhile, Sherif Lanre was removed after he kicked Molly-Mae Hague in the groin.

Featuring nostalgic clips and brand new footage filmed with Matt and Luke Goss in the aftermath of their recent tour, along with behind-the-scenes footage ahead of their upcoming shows in London, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

Speaking about the announcement, Matt said: ‘Throughout our long careers, we have been inspired by so many musical influences, and we’re so excited to take a walk down memory lane and share some of our most favourite moments that have led us to this point.

‘There are going to be quite a few surprises and we can’t wait to share this special evening on BBC Four with fans.’

Luke added: ‘As we prepare for our Irish and UK shows, we wanted to come together to create a whole evening of entertainment with friends and special guests.

‘We wanted to show some of the music, film and TV that we grew up watching and create moments of nostalgia. Our first documentary After The Screaming Stops has been supported from day one by BBC Four and they have been a joy to work with, so it was an honour being asked to create an entire night of entertainment.

‘The night on BBC Four is a way of saying a big thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way.’

A Night In With Bros will air in July on BBC Four.

Former child star Mason Reese, 56, defends 28-year age gap with softcore porn star girlfriend

A softcore porn star and a former child star have defended their 28-year age gap and declared that their love is real.

Sarah Russi, 26, and Mason Reese, 54, appeared on This Morning to discuss their unconventional relationship, which has been going strong for the past seven months.

First officially meeting at a convention centre and hitting it off, Sarah dumped her boyfriend in order to spend more time ‘making out’ with the star, who found fame as a child in TV commercials.

Since then, Sarah has moved into Mason’s New York pad – whose neighbours include musician Nile Rodgers.

The pair are seen together riding around the Upper West Side on his mobility scooter.

When Holly Willoughby questioned Sarah’s past on a sugar baby website, the young star brushed it off and said that he doesn’t provide for her the way a sugar daddy would.

‘It doesn’t really matter what they think, because Mason and I love each other and that’s all that really matters at the end of the day,’ she said.

‘Just because I was a sugar baby doesn’t mean that I’m after his money – I think a lot of girls are actually sugar babies, does that mean that they can’t find a long term relationship? I don’t think that’s the case.’

Mason also shunned the notion that Sarah’s motivation to be with him was money-led, asserting that aside from buying her ‘the odd bracelet or necklace’, she earned her own money.

‘I don’t think that falls into the category of sugar daddy/sugar baby,’ Mason said. ‘I think I’m just being a nice boyfriend.’

Sarah happily spoke about her career as an adult model and camgirl, travelling the country as she takes on small softcore roles in adult films.

Happy with their romance, the pair have said that they planned to get married and have children in two years’ time.

Kissing and cuddling throughout the interview, Mason also spoke about his sex drive – admitting his was higher than hers but they still have sex several times a week.

Admitting that he was ‘punching above his weight’, he said that he was happy to do so because she made him happy.

This Morning continues weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.

It’s always hard when a close friend’s spare time is swallowed up by the demands of parenthood, especially when you want some damn answers for The Handmaid’s Tale.

Jennifer Lawrence, 28, is the latest victim to this epidemic issue courtesy of pal Amy Schumer – who failed to answer the actor’s desperate plea for a quick recap on the show’s first season.

In a text exchange posted on Schumer’s Instagram stories, Jennifer is seen writing to the comedian: ‘You up? I have questions about hand maid’s tale. It’s an emergency.

‘Amy!!! What did she do on season 1 to deserve being in the gallows on season 2.’

After not getting a response, Jennifer wrote: ‘I can’t remember where I left off. Are you asleep bc of the baby??? Are you asleep before 11? Is this bc of the baby? Don’t make me resent the baby.

‘Wow. Ur really asleep before 11. I’ll be damned.’

Posting over the image, Schumer wrote: ‘Everybody keeping their cool about me having a baby.’

In case you’re wondering why June/Offred (Elisabeth Moss) was sent to the gallows in season two, it was after she resisted orders to stone to death one of her fellow handmaids. We got your back, Jen.

Elisabeth recently bagged a gong at the MTV Movie and TV Awards for her role in the show, which is in its third season.

Schumer welcomed her first child with husband Chris Fischer back in May this year, the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the arrival of their son.

The Handmaid’s Tale is available on All 4 in the UK, and streams on Hulu in the US.

Gemma Collins has a sell-confessed ‘diva’ moment in an upcoming episode of the Celebrity Crystal Maze and calls for the producers to step in.

The reality star yells at her team mates, consisting of Carol Vorderman, Ellie Taylor and Rick Edwards, as they attempt to guide her through a brand new game in the Futuristic Zone and demands that the show’s bosses pause the challenge.

The task sees the celebrities attempt to instruct Gemma’s motion capture avatar through a digital dimension she cannot see, but it all goes south when their orders lead her to repeatedly fail.

As her patience wears thin Gemma, who’s consistently proven herself to be TV gold, tells her team: ‘You’re letting me down. This is not rocket science.’

But as she loses another life it seems she’s pushed to the limit and snaps: ‘Tell the producer, they’ve got to sort it out. Hang on stop the game.’

Meanwhile, presenter Richard Ayoade quips: ‘It’s amazing, even in grid form you look mugged off.’

After completing the task, Gemma apologises to her team, telling them: ‘Sorry, I had a diva moment.’

She then turns to Rick and explains: ‘What it was, you was messing up.

‘You had to measure that big step going forward because your big step [pointing at Rick], your big step [pointing at Ellie], my big step might be all different. I could have done that in one.’

Taking a swipe at Gemma’s remarks, Richard offers: ‘You know what, next time Rick is piloting someone he doesn’t know through a virtual landscape, he can maybe use those tips.’

Gemma ends the segment by offering Rick a hug and telling him that ‘all is forgiven.’

Celebrity Crystal Maze starts Friday at 8pm on Channel 4.

Love Island’s stars still have no idea why Sherif Lanre was booted from the villa

Sherif believes not even Anna was told the truth behind his exit (Picture: Rex)

Love Island’s Sherif Lanre has revealed that the other islanders have no idea why he was removed from the villa in a shock exit

Speaking to podcast The Reality Tea, Sherif said that he was pulled out so quickly, the others had no idea what was going on.

‘I don’t think they told [Anna] what happened and what they deemed inappropriate,’ the former reality star said, explaining that his couple partner at the time, Anna Vakili, was also kept in the dark.

He then added: ‘I think they have a duty not to tell people in there so it doesn’t mess up their head and they don’t start moving in a particular way… basically moving stiff and dead in the show.’

Last week, the 20-year-old admitted he was kicked off the show for ‘accidentally kicking Molly-Mae Hague in the groin and calling it a ‘c**t punt’.

As a result, after a discussion with producers, it was agreed that he would leave the show after only nine days.

His removal was done away from the show, and the unceremonious exit was only marked by a sentenced by voiceover Iain Stirling saying he’d agreed to leave.

Since then, Sherif has made no secret he wasn’t happy with his eviction from the series, saying that he was ‘treated like a criminal’ in light of the scandal.

He added that he felt like he may have been victim to unconscious racism – something Love Island categorically denies.

A Love Island spokesperson told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘We would strongly refute any accusation of racism. All of the Islanders are treated fairly and in accordance with our duty of care.’

When Sherif was kicked out of the villa, he said in a statement: ‘In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

‘I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.

‘I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.’

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

Love Island’s Lucie Donlan on verge of quitting as Amber Gill talks her down in first look clip

Love Island’s Lucie Donlan was seen on the verge of walking off the show in a brief first look at tonight’s episode.

In the ad, which aired during This Morning, Lucie was seen breaking down in tears as she discussed her in-villa boyfriend Joe Garratt’s sudden departure in the shock double dumping last night.

Talking to the girls by the pool, Amber Gill was seen reassuring her and said: ‘Don’t even think about what he would do because you’ll just go round in circles.

‘If you want to stay, stay. If you want to leave, leave.’

Molly-Mae Hague then added that ‘noone was going to judge her’ if she decided to walk away from the villa.

Amy Hart, who divided opinion on last night’s show for her ‘smug’ reaction to the dumping twist, also seemed to encourage her to leave if she wanted to.

‘You can’t be miserable for the next six weeks,’ Amy asserted.

Breaking down in tears and holding her head in her hands, Lucie changed the topic and told them through tears: ‘I just don’t want to talk it, I want to talk about other things.’

Love Island have denied that the surfer’s quit the show overnight following Joe’s exit amid rumours that she had walked out to be with him.

Joe, as well as Elma Pazar, were voted out of the villa as the least popular person in their respective couple.

Joe came under fire by viewers fearing he was ‘gaslighting’ Lucie, instructing her to not spend any more time with Tommy Fury and instead hang out with the girls.

More than 300 people also complained to Ofcom about the incident and Women’s Aid came forward to praise those watching the show for spotting warning signs in their relationship of controlling behaviour.

But Joe’s pals have swooped in to defend him, and Love Island have said they have systems in place to make sure that she’s ok.

In response, in a statement released to Metro.co.uk, a Love Island representative said: ‘We take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.’

‘We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset,’ they added.

‘All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on site and by their friends in the villa.’

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

Former Love Island star Sherif Lanre has already found his calling after he was dropped from the series for using the c-word after kicking Molly-Mae Hague in the groin in a play fight.

Now he’s off the show and back in the UK, the islander has moved on to his next venture – promoting car freshener.

Regular Love Island viewers know that it’s not unusual for contestants to advertise everything from chocolate to watches and betting shops.

Sherif has gone into the air freshener business by flogging one for your car on his Instagram page, complete with a code you can use to get money off.

The ad reads: ‘Fresh out the villa & straight on the @CarFumeUK hype. They’ve got my car stinking of Creed, soo sick.’

Sherif had support from former Love Island finalist Josh Denzel, who commented: ‘My g get that shmoneyyyyyyyyyy’.

He’s not the only one from this year’s show to suddenly develop a love of car fresheners. Callum Macleod, who was first to be voted out, is also getting in on the act.

We don’t blame him for embracing every opportunity, and we’re sure it won’t be the last.

The 20-year-old has spoken at length about his time on the show, and accused producers of ‘unconscious bias’ which he claims influenced their decision to kick him out.

Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire this week, he said: ‘I’m not gonna point any fingers but in the casting they expect you to couple up with certain people based on what you’ve said or what they think is the norm.

‘The airtime which contestants of my race and similar got was very disproportionate to our value in the villa. We did more to keep the villa together socially.

‘I do feel statistically they do get less airtime, why that is is down to the people in charge. They want to give the viewers what they feel they want.’

Love Island bosses have fiercely denied accusations of racism in a statement to Metro.co.uk, saying: ‘We would strongly refute any accusation of racism.

‘All of the Islanders are treated fairly and in accordance with our duty of care.’

Who is Andrew Smith who Years and Years was dedicated to?

Years and Years
Years and Years fans praised the gripping finale (Picture: BBC)

Last night, Years and Years viewers were wowed by a powerful performance from an all-star cast.

The show, by Russell T Davies, showed a dystopian world not too far in the future, with Emma Thompson’s character Viv Rook at the helm.

The show focused on the Lyons family and how they dealt with the changing political landscape, with Muriel (Anne Reid) delivering a rousing speech at the end.

What many people may have also noticed about the show, other than the powerful look into our potential outlook, is the fact it was dedicated to Andrew Smith.

This is all down to show creator Russell T Davies, who also wrote Queer As Folk, Cucumber, Torchwood, and a number of Doctor Who episodes.

Andrew Smith was Russell’s late husband, who sadly died in 2018 from cancer.

Andrew was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011, and given a 3% chance of survival by doctors.

The couple were then married in 2012, and Russell cared for his beloved husband – who had worked as a customs officer – in the final years of his life.

The pair met in 1999, in a club, according to Davies: ‘At 10 to two in the morning’.

Russell said of his husband in a Radio Times interview: ‘He was so handsome. Across the club I could not believe that there was this handsome man and he was looking at me’.

Although they were extremely happy, Russell told Wales Online: ‘I only got married ’cos he was so ill. I mean, I had to be dragged kicking and screaming down that aisle.

‘It was a hilariously sad wedding, just six people, but that day we had the biggest laugh, because it was so tragic, so wonderful. They were laughing at the look on my face when I had to get married at last.

‘And Andrew, bless him, who was on steroids, he was a great big whale, and loving it, loving every second of it.’

Before Andrew became ill, the two didn’t live together, instead meeting up on weekends to watch TV and spend time together. In later years, Russell gave up writing to care for his husband, saying: ‘We had seven years of that illness together, and it’s lovely to come and talk about my shows, but that’s the greatest work I’ll ever do on this Earth.’
