Love Island share poignant tribute to Sophie Gradon on first anniversary of death: ‘Missed but never forgotten’

Love Island have marked the first year anniversary of Sophie Gradon’s death with a tribute to the late star.

The 32-year-old was found dead a year ago today (June 20) after taking her own life while high on a combination of alcohol and cocaine.

Sharing a glowing photo of Sophie on the Love Island Instagram page, the post read: ‘In loving memory of Sophie Gradon (1985 – 2018), missed but never forgotten.’

Sophie’s parents have refuted an inquest which ruled their daughter committed suicide, insisting she was battling with an undiagnosed brain tumour which hindered her thinking and would have had a ‘severe and brutal impact’ in the weeks prior to her death.

https://www.instagram.com/p/By67TXKpa2K/

They’re also adamant she didn’t take cocaine.

Sophie was found by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong at her parents’ Northumberland home. He then took his own life just five days later.

In March 2019, fellow islander Mike Thalasssitis at 26-years-old was found dead with cocaine and alcohol in his system, sparking an inquest into the duty of aftercare followed by reality TV bosses.

Love Island subsequently vowed to up their ‘enhanced psychological support’, which has already been commended by axed islander Sherif Lanre after he was thrown out of the villa for accidentally hitting Molly May Hague in the groin.

Following Mike’s death, Love Island released a statement which read: ‘When something so awful happens we naturally enter a period of soul searching and ask whether anything could have been done.

‘This review has led us to extend our support processes to offer therapy to all Islanders and not only those that reach out to us. And we will be delivering bespoke training to all future Islanders to include social media and financial management.

‘The key focus will be for us to no longer be reliant on the islanders asking us for support but for us to proactively check in with them on a regular basis.’

Emily Atack admits on her new documentary that she fears she may never have children.

The bubbly 29-year-old is taking centre stage in hilarious and honest new series, Adulting, and in a first look clip she’s seen introducing the show where she’ll talk about body confidence, dating and children.

Admitting she feared about her ability to have children, she said: ‘My whole life I have assumed if I met someone I could have babies straight away, but what if I can’t?

‘I have got to be honest, if they come back and say something is wrong I will be absolutely devastated.’

Taking the medical test as part of the show, viewers will have to tune in to see what happened.

Dubbing her current lifestyle as ‘being a member of the quarter-life crisis club’, Emily will be taking a deep dive into what she feels she should be doing by now, and what she is doing instead.

This includes a family, which Emily is seen saying she wants to take after her nan with a big family.

‘I used to look at my Grandma Betty when she was alive and think, “God, she’s surrounded with all of us”. She’s got so many grandkids, so many kids. That’s what I want,’ she explained.

‘I don’t want to be a lonely old person, I want to be surrounded with family.’

Speaking ahead of the show airing, she added: ‘I would definitely say that I’ve been soul-searching at the moment.

‘I feel like I’m getting to a point where I’m becoming a little bit more stable with who I am and I’m hoping to get just a little bit more self-acceptance.’

In the meantime, Emily has had to battle a horrific problem of dating in the 21st century – after hackers leaked intimate photos of her with comedian Seann Walsh.

She was left ‘mortified’ as the photos are posted online, according to pals, but Emily has yet to directly address what happened.

She is currently dating film producer Rob Jowers, having got together at the beginning of this year.

Emily Atack: Adulting starts 26 June at 9pm on Channel W.

Joe Swash mocked for showing up to Good Morning Britain in really short trousers after buying the wrong size

Joe Swash was relentlessly mocked on Good Morning Britain today for showing up to work in really short trousers.

Joe, who was acting as showbiz correspondent, admitted he didn’t try the trousers on in time and only realised they were too short when he got to the studio.

The black trousers finished high above his ankles, and he wore them with black shoes and no socks.

If he was hoping they would go unnoticed by presenters Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway, he was sorely mistaken.

After asking Joe about his new baby son Rex, Ben joked that Joe was wearing his older son Harry’s clothes, saying it was ‘really cute’.

Kate said: ‘Housework goes a little awry when you’ve got a new baby, Ben. Sometimes you put on a boil wash.’

‘Did Harry steal your socks?’ Susanna added.

Joe explained: ‘I ordered them from a website and I didn’t try them on until this morning.’

‘Was it Gap Kids?’ Ben quipped.

Joe went on: ‘What I done was I thought I’d go for ultra skinny, and slightly high.

‘Last time I left my clothes on top of the cab and turned up with no clothes, this time I’ve turned up in my baby clothes.’

Joe and his girlfriend Stacey Solomon welcomes Rex in May, revealing he had arrived ‘a lot earlier’ than expected.

Giving an update on his growing family, Joe said: ‘Stacey’s doing amazing. It’s such a difficult job being a mum, you don’t realise until you do it. She’s a warrior.

‘Now I know why women do it, because if it was down to us (men) we’d never do it. I’d do it once and think well that’s it, put that away.

‘Family’s really well. He’s so loved he’s very lucky.’

The I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp host added that Rex had been putting on weight.

Joe said: ‘He’s four weeks old my little boy. He is tiny.

‘He was only a little tiddler but he’s put on loads of weight now so he’s back to birth weight so he’s ready.’

At the end of the interview Joe was given a babygrow for Rex which said Good Morning Baby on the front.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.

Shadowhunters has been nominated for six Teen Choice Awards while Avengers: Endgame is the big hopeful in the movie race with nine nods.

The TV show, which ended in May 2019 after three seasons, has been nominated in choice sci-fi/fantasy TV show, as well as choice sci-fi/fantasy TV actor with nominations for Dominic Sherwood who played Jace Herondale and Harry Shum Jr who appeared as Magnus Bane.

Lead actress Katherine McNamara, who starred as Clary Fairchild, has been nominated in choice sci-fi/fantasy TV actress.

Luke Baines, who appeared in the final season as the Big Bad, Jonathan Morgenstern, is nominated for choice TV villain while the relationship between Katherine and Dominic’s characters, Clary and Jace, is up for choice ship.

Matthew Daddario, who played Alec Lightwood, took to Twitter to congratulate his pals and then broke the fandom when he insisted he didn’t need another nomination after winning in 2018.

‘So @HarryShumJr, @DomSherwood1, @Kat_McNamara and @LukeBaines are nominated for @TeenChoiceFOX awards,’ he tweeted.

‘Spectacular! Now help them win. Also the show @ShadowhuntersTV. Neato! Now, here’s my photo of sap on a fence, as promised.’

In response, a fan suggested that Matthew ‘deserved a nomination too’ and he replied: ‘Got it last year! Which was great! Thank you! I don’t need more. That would be greedy and silly.’

The show has won four Teen Choice Awards in previous years, including choice sci-fi/fantasy TV show in 2018 and choice sci-fi/fantasy TV actor for Matthew the same year.

Black Mirror’s Charlie Brooker explains real meaning behind Striking Vipers ending

$

0

Black Mirror’s Striking Vipers has managed to walk the series fine line between the real and fake once again but left viewers baffled with what exactly happened.

The episode, which was written by series creator Charlie Brooker, saw two best friend Danny (Anthony Mackie) and Karl (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) start a sexual relationship in a computer game – a virtual reality fighting game.

As their intense relationship gets heavier, Danny’s wife Theo (Nicole Beharie) remains completely unaware – suspecting her husband of an affair but never in what capacity. When confronted, Danny insists that he’s not cheating on her.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Charlie explained: ‘I think there’s a bit of a porn analogy going on. There’s definitely a commentary on male awkwardness or trying to negotiate what this friendship is in this big curve.

‘The big spanner goes in the works and they’re not quite sure who they are in a way and what they mean to each other and how they express that, and there is a way where you can communicate.’

However, Charlie added that this isn’t just an issue with Danny and Karl – but Theo as well.

Picture: Netflix EMB. MID: Black Mirror - Review. Season 5
The virtual reality had huge real life consequences (Picture: Netflix)

‘It’s not just between the men – the three of them, there’s a problem with communication, there’s some sort of block that goes on throughout the episode. So all of the above.

‘There’s definitely similar tech to San Junipero and the way it plays out is very different. We were sort of thinking of things like porn and an analogy for that that hopefully isn’t grubby.’

The series ends with everyone discovering the truth and the effects the game has had on their real lives – with Karl acknowledging Danny doesn’t have a romantic interest in him away from the game, Danny realising the trouble he’s caused and Theo deciding to let him continue with the game under restricted circumstances.

Striking Vipers Black MIrror
The two best friends continued their virtual sexual experiences (Picture: Netflix)

‘One of the things I found fascinating about writing it, is that I don’t quite know where I stand on a lot of the issues,’ Charlie continued. ‘I don’t have an answer to that. Yes and No is the answer to a lot of those things. Is he being unfaithful? Yes he definitely is, but also no he isn’t because it’s not really happening.

‘Then again, it sort of is really happening… Is this a homosexual relationship they’re having? Yes it is, but also no, it isn’t. So there’s all sorts of stuff going on.’

As a result, it’s something that Owen Harris, who directed Striking Vipers as well as fan favourites Be Right Back and San Junipero, deliberately kept ambiguous.

Speaking about his choice to Hollywood Reporter, he said: ‘We looked at a bunch of different endings and this was the one that we settled on. It was always written to end with ambiguity.’

Striking Vipers Black MIrror
Danny’s wife Theo enjoyed random date nights at the end of the episode as they drifted apart (Picture: Netflix)

‘I think that’s a good description for this one — pragmatic,’ he continued. ‘You could have taken it in quite a number of different directions, but this ending probably asks no less and no more questions than any other routes.

‘We had extra elements that we tried with the ending that pushed in slightly one direction, in terms of how successful this solution is for the marriage.’

On what lies ahead for the trio, especially the state of Danny and Theo’s marriage, Owen added: ‘A sacrifice is being made.

‘They are challenging themselves to see whether this is actually going to save their marriage and I do like the idea that they are going to take that challenge.’

Black Mirror’s Striking Vipers is available on Netflix now.

Riverdale season 4 premiere In Memoriam will ‘honour’ the late Luke Perry

Riverdale season four will pay tribute to Luke Perry (Picture: The CW)

Riverdale season four will open with a tribute to the late Luke Perry.

Perry played Fred Andrews, the father of lead character Archie (KJ Apa). The actor died in March after suffering a stroke at the age of 52.

In his final episode, which aired in season three, Fred gave some comforting advice to Archie after his boxing rival Randy (Darcy Hinds) died during a match in a previous episode.

The remaining episodes of the season were dedicated to Perry, but season four will open with In Memoriam, which will ‘honor’ the actor and his character.

Riverdale creator Robert Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted: ‘Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever.

‘A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred.’

He did not explain exactly how Fred’s absence will be addressed on the teen drama.

Aguirre-Sacasa previously explained that Luke’s passing would be dealt with on screen.

He told Entertainment Tonight in March: ‘You know, honestly we are I think all still in shock and are still processing and grieving. We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honour him’

Roberto added: ‘Luke was, is, and will always be a big part of Riverdale. We’re kind of a family and when a loss like this happens, you carry it always.

‘It changes and it hopefully becomes a little less painful as time goes by, but you’re changed. When I was with the crew, I said, “it will never be the same,” and that’s true because Luke was such a part of the show.’

He also hinted that the show would see Archie’s mum Mary (Molly Ringwald) ‘stepping in as more of an active parent…but that all depends on the availability of the actors around us.’

Riverdale is set to return to The CW and Netflix.

Star Trek: Discovery spin-off Section 31 is set to kick off filming after the mainline show’s third season, the showrunner has confirmed.

The second season of Discovery concluded earlier this year, seeing Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew sent barrelling 950 years into the future through a wormhole.

The show is expected to return next year, and it looks like planned spin-off Section 31, which revolves around Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), is set to follow suit.

Speaking to Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, Discovery showrunner Alex Kurtzman offered an update on the spin-offs schedule.

Star Trek: Discovery Michelle Yeoh
It’s unclear when the new spin-off will be set (Picture: CBS)

‘Erika [Lippoldt] and Boey [Kim], who are two of our writers on Discovery, are breaking story on it right now, and the plan is to shoot that the second we’re done with season three,’ Kurtzman said.

In a statement announcing the spin-off, Kurtzman said: ‘Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades.

‘As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her. Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we’re all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou.’

It isn’t the only Star Trek spin-off in the works, with a new series for Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard set to be released later this year.

Speaking about the Luc Picard series, Kurtzman said: ‘A lot has happened to Jean-Luc Picard in the intervening years.

‘He had to deal with some new things, and some old things. Both things collide together and he’s made choices that he’s not necessarily feeling great about.’

Star Trek: Discovery is available to stream on Netflix.

Joe Garratt isn’t giving up on Lucie Donlan despite being dumped from the Love Island villa.

The 22-year-old sandwich maker was eliminated from the ITV2 programme earlier this week alongside Elma Pazar but is keen to get back into the Majorcan compound to pick up where he left off.

‘I would never rule out the possibility of going back in,’ Joe admitted. ‘I met somebody who I fell for so I have already won that in that sense.’

He continued to The Sun: ‘I would love to go back in and see her. I think that would be really nice and I think she would love that.’

The reality star came under fire by viewers after he disapproving with Lucie forming a friendship with fellow series five contestant Tommy Fury, with Women’s Aid speaking out over the outcry.

However, Joe has insisted that he didn’t ‘manipulate or abuse’ the surfer, adding to the publication: ‘I am gutted that it has been perceived in that way because it wasn’t like that at all.’

He ruled out apologising for his behaviour too, saying: ‘I am young and inexperienced so maybe some things have come out differently to what they are. I just hope people can see me for who I genuinely am and what I genuinely am. I am not that person.’

Before leaving the villa, Joe told Lucie that he’d like to continue his romance with her, confessing: ‘I have definitely fallen for you. I know that you will eventually be my girlfriend – 100 per cent – if you will have me.’

He then added to the cameras: ‘I’ve definitely fallen for the girl. I do hope there is a future for us.

‘Me and Lucie definitely had a lot more to give but it is what it is. You have to take it.’

Love Island airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.

Former Love Island contestant Charlie Frederick has ripped into the show for throwing two of his ex-girlfriends in the villa.

The 23-year-old star featured in last year’s series and dated Lucie Donlan as well as brand new bombshell Arabella Chi, who entered the villa in scenes that aired yesterday.

Addressing Arabella and Lucie’s place in the series, Charlie snapped on his Instagram story: ‘Wow Love Island you wanna have my f****** life anymore?!!! Both my exes in the villa f****** madness [Sic].’

Arabella revealed that Charlie was a former flame, on top of being friends with Montana Brown, when she discussed her claim to fame, confessing: ‘I also dated Charlie Frederick for a time.’

While Lucie and Charlie’s romance is well documented on social media, no photographic evidence of Arabella and Charlie has been uncovered yet.

Will Lucie and Arabella bond over their ex in common? Only time will tell…

Speaking about her tactics before entering the infamous compound, Arabella admitted: ‘It’s the nature of the show that you have to tread on toes. I’m not going to go for the single guys because they’re not for me.

‘If a guy is giving me a half way in, I’ll keep trying.’

She explained that she’s always loyal too, adding: ‘If I’ve coupled up, it means I know what I want. Yes I have cheated and been cheated on.

‘I’ve only ever been loyal in one relationship which was my last relationship. In that relationship I would never look anywhere else. It all comes down to respect. When it’s on and off with someone, as it has been before, you never have that respect.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Charlie’s reps for comment.

Love Island airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.

Is this how The Walking Dead season 10 says goodbye to Danai Gurira’s Michonne?

Danai Gurira as Michonne in The Walking Dead
How is Michonne saying goodbye to the series? (Picture: AMC)

So, Walking Dead fans – we’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that Danai Gurira (who plays Michonne) is leaving the show next season.

The good news is, if the comic books are anything to go by, we might not be seeing the last of her.

It’s a pretty well-known fact at this point that the comic books and the TV show are their own kind of monsters – with the series straying further from its source material over the years.

However, major plot points (like that horrific pike scene that ended season nine), remain the same.

So, what does this mean for Michonne? Well, taking a look at the comic books, she makes her exit a rather quiet one – before returning for something pivotal.

Following life with Negan and The Saviours, in which Negan was undoubtedly at his most horrific, Michonne flees – only appearing again dozens of issues later as a fisherman in Oceanside.

Danai Gurira as Michonne in The Walking Dead
We don’t know if the character will be killed or walk away (Picture: AMC)

During her disappearance (which lasted a good two years), Negan sees a massive change, not least of which the invasion of the Whisperers, and fall from leader of the Saviours.

In the comics, upon reuniting with Michonne, Negan offers a peace offering – the head of Alpha, Whisperers’ leader – as a sign that they’re on the same side.

But following the blood spilled because of the battle of those who are still alive in the apocalyptic world, she sets off for a new life and to build a new home in Ohio.

This could be the perfect end for Michonne, and while she’s remained in Alexandria for the course of the torture delivered by Alpha and the Whisperers, the major death could be the perfect opportunity for her to cut loose from the group.

With her young son in tow, and baby daddy/leader Rick Grimes not looking like he’s coming back soon, this could be the perfect time for her to forge safety on her own.

The Walking Dead returns on AMC in the US and Fox in the UK later this year.

A woman who lied about having depression to get a nose job on the NHS has defended her actions and admitted that she would do it again

Carla Bellucci joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning to reveal how she managed to cheat the system to get the surgery, worth £7,000 for free, claiming that she flirted with a GP who then guided her through the process.

‘I did bend the truth to get a nose job,’ Carla began. ‘I lied, but I do work. I was born here. I feel like I’ve not really done anything that wrong.’

Talking about why she wanted to go through with the procedure in the first place, she explained: ‘It was something on my mind. It was slightly off centre and had a little bump.’

Having paid a visit to a cosmetic surgeon, Carla confessed that she was advised against splashing out and then joked around with friends about getting it done for free.

‘It started off as a bit of banter between friends,’ she continued. ‘One evening I said, “I’m going to see if I can get this nose job.”

‘I said I was unhappy about I’ve never been clinically depressed I just said it. I was advised to say a few things by a GP.’

When Holly and Phil asked whether or not she’d cheat the system again, Carla admitted: ‘I think I am one of many. Maybe there’s cracked in the systems.

‘I’m not saying what I done was right, but I don’t live in regret.’

Naturally viewers were furious about Carla’s actions and didn’t hold back on social media.

‘Absolutely outrageous this sick woman faking depression too get a nose job!’ blasted one. ‘She should be made too pay for her NHS treatment from now on. Its people like her that get it all when the people that need it can’t get the help!!!!!!’

‘I am disgusted at the attitude on the lady who has lied about a nose job,’ slammed another.

‘I am a nurse and see how hard the NHS struggles to meet increasing demands and she has outright lied! She should be prosecuted and the money reclaimed.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey found excellent use for Jaime Lannister’s fake hand on Game of Thrones season 8 set

Cersei and Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones season 8 The Bells
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey made good use of Jaime Lannister’s prosthetic hand (Picture: HBO)

Jaime Lannister’s miracle hand may have caused one of the biggest upsets in Game of Thrones season 8, but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau made good use of that gold prosthetic limb.

Way back in season three Jaime found himself a million miles away from the luxuries of King’s Landing, being held prisoner by hunter Locke (played by Noah Taylor) who was trying to offer up the Kingslayer to the Bolton fam.

After Jaime managed to persuade Locke’s men not to rape Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), who was simultaneously serving as both his captor and his guard, Locke plunged a blade into his fighting arm, which was subsequently removed.

Naturally, Jaime had a gold-plated limb installed because he’s extra AF, but the prop literally became the hand that fed Nikolaj and Cersei Lannister star Lena Headey as the pair used it to store their dried fruit. Genius.

Posting a behind-the-scenes picture of his arm – from what was presumably Jaime and Cersei’s final scenes together – the Danish-born actor wrote to Lena: ‘I finally got our “fruity hand of Queen” into Production. Should be on Amazon anytime now.’

https://www.instagram.com/p/By0uwDwp5F5/

With the Game of Thrones prequel kicking off filming this week, could another spin-off be in the works?

Should Jaime’s hand set off for bigger adventures, it’s unlikely Nikolaj will be involved as he’s just landed his first TV gig since the Game of Thrones finale, teaming up with the Lannister’s sworn enemy, The High Sparrow actor Jonathan Pryce, for FX pilot, Gone Hollywood.

As for Lena, like the rest of us, she’s still reeling over Cersei’s lacklustre death.

Game of Thrones seasons one to eight are available to stream on NOW TV.

Suits is coming to an end with season nine next month and the first look trailer takes us back through all the standout scenes from over the years, you know, to get us all upset about it.

Reminiscing about where it all began, the teaser begins with Harvey Spector (played by Gabriel Macht) giving Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) a position as an unlicensed associate, kick starting his controversial legal career. Feels like forever ago, right?

Despite bowing out of the show for being too busy, Meghan Markle’s Rachel Zane features heavily in the minute-long clip too and we’re taken on a journey back through her love story with Mike.

‘There are moments we’ll always remember,’ reads the strap line hitting us right in the feels.

Viewers are treated to that killer moment where she slapped her now-husband across the face after discovering he’s a fraud, right through to her proposal and wedding day which aired back in season seven.

On top of that, we pay privy to Donna Paulson (Sarah Rafferty) and Harvey’s on/off romance. Here’s hoping they finally get the happy ending they deserve.

The forthcoming final season picks up from law firm Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, facing uncertainty and change yet again after Robert Zane (played by Wendell Pierce) took the fall with the Bar Association to save Harvey.

‘After his sacrifice, Samantha Wheeler(Katherine Heigl) is left reeling from the loss of her mentor,’ teases the synopsis. ‘And while trying to console her, Harvey realizes that he doesn’t want to lose the most important person to him: Donna.’

The teaser continues: ‘Season nine will follow the legendary lawyer and COO balance their relationship with work, as they fight to salvage the firm’s tarnished reputation alongside their partners, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Alex Williams (Dulé Hill), Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull), and Samantha.

‘As the season progresses, our core characters’ personal lives will be explored more deeply than ever before, setting up the series conclusion, in which everyone will finally be forced to decide exactly who they are and what kind of lawyers they want to be.’

Yep, it looks like the final installment of Suits is going to be seriously emotional.

Suits season 9 begins Wednesday 17 July on USA Network.

Susanna Reid cowers and freaks out as Britain’s Got Talent act performs horrifying crossbow stunt

Susanna Reid was left terrified at a risky crossbow stunt performed live by Britain’s Got Talent act Jonathan Goodwin on Good Morning Britain.

Goodwin, who reached the Britain’s Got Talent finals this year, pulled off the incredible trick live in the studio, firing a crossbow at balloons held by his assistant.

After Susanna and her co-hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway refused to take part in the dangerous stunt, Jonathan shot crossbows at a balloon and through a sheet of newspaper.

The newsreader struggled to watch Jonathan perform the trick without a blindfold, so when Jonathan put a metal visor over his eyes she couldn’t deal.

‘I’m gonna make a shot not by seeing it, but by hearing it,’ he explained.

Susanna could hardly bear to watch as Jonathan raised the crossbow and his assistant, holding a balloon over her head, rang a small bell to indicate where to aim.

The presenter cowered at the desk with her hands over her face as the terrifying stunt played out.

Thankfully his shot successfully burst the balloon, and while Ben applauded Susanna looked stunned with her mouth wide open as she tried to get back to normal.

After the performance she breathed: ‘I don’t understand how you do it.’

‘My heart is beating so hard,’ Ben added.

‘I thought that was a trick,’ Susanna said, ‘Do not try that at home with anything.’

Ben joked: ‘That’s the quote from Jonathan, it’s really stupid and dangerous and we loved it.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.

Love Island gets a new love square as Maura Higgins and new girl Arabella Chi take a fancy to Danny Williams

Love Island’s Danny and Yewande are already on the rocks and now it looks like two girls have their eye on Danny with new girl asking him on a date – and Maura taking a fancy.

Does Yewande need to let him go or buck up and be honest about her feelings?

Maura has already admitted she’s not into Tom Walker, and speaking with Molly-Mae and Lucie on the terrace, Maura says: ‘It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Yewande and Danny.

‘He is a really nice guy. I have such a laugh with Danny. He has got good craic.’

‘When I went on a date with him, I felt nothing. But he just wants a bit of affection. He’s getting nothing. We may as well crack on,’ she adds.

‘Danny has definitely grown on me. It’s probably a surprise to everyone. It’s not really a surprise to me because that is how I connect with someone, when I get know them,’ she later reveals in the Beach Hut.

And it seems she’s ready to stir the pot some more, as she later tells Danny: ‘You’re already down, why don’t you just f***king nip it in the f***ing bud?’

I don’t want to throw away something that has potential,’ he insists to which Maura replies: ‘But does it? Honestly? Wake up.’

SAVAGE.

Love Island

But Maura is not the only one with her eye on Danny, 21, as Arabella decides to pick Danny for her first date.

‘You strike me as a confident girl,’ he tells her and as they get to know each other, she admits she is also ‘quite shy’.

Love Island's Danny Williams and Arabella Chi
Will the age difference matter? (Picture: ITV)

But she is keeping her cards close to her chest, admitting that she’s ‘more about a connection’ and that ‘there isn’t one boy in here that I would say is unattractive’.

Their age difference could play a part though, with Arabella, 28, admitting 23 is normally her cut off pointy.

Conversation soon shifts to Danny’s coupling with Yewande and he reveals that he is doubting their compatibility.

‘I feel like I’m putting a lot of the effort in and I’m not getting anything back and I’m starting to question whether we’re compatible. When you said you wanted to take me on a date, I was really excited,’ he says.

Sparks are flying – but with Amber and Curtis helping Yewande with some roleplay in a bid to teach her how to woo Danny, will he find himself in a love square?

Love Island airs on ITV2 Sunday – Thursday at 9pm.

The Act’s Patricia Arquette warns jailed Gypsy Blanchard to ‘take her time’ as she announces engagement

Patricia Arquette has sent her well wishes to Gypsy Rose Blanchard after discovering she had got engaged while in prison.

The actress has currently been playing a fictional version of Gypsy’s mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in new StarzPlay series The Act – which documents the horrific abuse Gypsy suffered as the victim of Munchausen’s By Proxy.

Gypsy, who is now serving 10 years for her mother’s murder, quietly announced in April that she had become engaged to an unknown pen pal who started writing to her after watching a documentary on the crime.

While the actress is happy that the now 27-year-old got a happy ending, she has warned her not to rush into things too quickly – and to get to know him over time before tying the knot.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Patricia said: ‘I have [heard she’s engaged]. I just hope she takes her time to get to know someone. It’s hard to get to know someone when you’re not really with them, when you’re writing to each other or on the phone.’

‘She’s been someone’s patient her whole life. She’s been someone’s project, somebody’s… something to take care of,’ she continued.

‘I hope she has the space when she comes out to figure out who she is on her own, and not end up in a relationship where someone is acting like she’s their patient that they need to take care of.’

Gypsy’s ex-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, is currently serving a life sentence, also for the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard.

After speaking over the internet for two years, meeting on a Christian dating website, Gypsy enlisted Nick to murder her mother to break free of the two decades of torture she’s endured under her care.

Nick Godejohn and Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Since a small child, Dee Dee had lied about Gypsy’s health – forcing her to have operations for diseases she didn’t have, and telling all family and friends that she was bound to a wheelchair with sicknesses including muscular dystrophy, an assortment of allergies, and even cancer.

However, in reality, Gypsy was perfectly healthy, with Dee Dee forcing her to comply.

After Nick stabbed Dee Dee in her bed, the pair fled to his home, where they alerted the police with a series of sick Facebook messages declaring they’d killed her.

Tracking the IP address of the messages, the pair were caught – and Gypsy’s years of torture were revealed to the world.

‘I felt terrible for all of them,’ Patricia added to us. ‘Dee Dee really damaged Gypsy, and it’s horrible because had Gypsy not had that kind of medical abuse, emotional, mental and physical abuse, I don’t think she’d be in jail today.

‘I don’t think she would’ve had anyone killed in her life.’

However, with Nick getting the longer sentence for actually committing the crime, and his mental state at the time of the murder, other topics of discussion have been brought up – including Gypsy’s level of involvement and the encouragement of Nick to commit murder.

‘Some people think Gypsy’s a total victim, some people think that she’s also not the victim at a certain point, some think Nick’s the victim, and some think it’s DeeDee,’ Patricia laid out.

‘But I think DeeDee was very manipulative and DeeDee’s mum was very manipulative, and in some instances, Gypsy has been manipulative. Will she continue to be? I hope not.

‘Hopefully now, free from Dee Dee and having relationships with humans outside of that, hopefully she has a great life after this.’

On the news that The Act was being released, Gypsy released a statement declaring she had not given permission for the production to use her life story, and did not approve of its use.

The release, which premiered on Hulu in the States before coming over to the UK, also embellished elements of Gypsy’s story for the sake of the plot – changing people’s names and editing the abuse that Gypsy suffered at the hands of her mum.

The Act is available now on Amazon Prime Video via StarzPlay.

Australian show forced to apologise to BTS and Army over ‘racist’ segment

$

Australian show 20 To One has been forced to apologise to BTS and the Army over a segment that’s been labelled ‘racist’ and ‘mocking’.

The infotainment show, that charts a list of the top 20 of something for that episode, has been absolutely slammed by fans for its treatment of the K-pop superstars.

For the uninitiated, firstly, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, and secondly, BTS is a seven-piece boy band that has taken the world by storm.

Made up of RM, Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, J-Hope, V and Suga, they have a loyal fanbase called the Army who follow their every move and will defend their greatness to the ends of the earth.

If only the producers of this show knew that before they called the group the ‘Korean One Direction’, likened them to a nuclear bomb and said they were the biggest band you didn’t know.

Because, let’s be honest, in 2019 if you don’t know about BTS we have to wonder where you’ve been hiding.

As part of their Global Crazes countdown, BTS were ranked number 18 (should be number one, but that’s neither here nor there) as co-hosts Erin Molan and Nick Cody began the segment by calling BTS ‘the biggest band you’ve never heard of’

BTS at the Grammys
They’re, like, only the biggest band in the world these days (Picture: WireImage)

We mean, their video clips score hundreds of millions of views and their latest album Map Of The Soul: Persona is the biggest selling album in the US of 2019 so far.

In the video that accompanied their charting, it was seemingly mocked that despite their success in the west, ‘only one band member [RM] actually speaks English’.

They also appeared to make fun of Jimin, one of the group’s singers, picking a clip of him not perfectly making a difficult high note.

‘When I first heard something Korean had exploded in America, I got worried,’ Jimmy Carr said in an interview for the show. ‘So it could have been worse. But not much worse.’

Australian performer Rob Mills called their singing ‘passable’, while a clip of RM, flanked by his bandmates, speaking at the UN about belonging was passed off as talking about ‘hair products.’

While it’s clear the clip was intended to be tongue in cheek, it came across to most fans as jarring, offensive and according to some, ‘racist’.

‘We demand sincere apology for your report full of racist, misogyny, malice on BTS and their fans. Also for the insensitive reference of missile threat,’ one wrote, as countless others echoed their sentiments.

This forced the show to issue an apology on social media in English and Korean that read: ‘We apologise for any disrespect and offence taken.’

Again, fans just weren’t buying it.

‘May name is Wren and I am deeply offended by the remarks made in last night’s episode of 20 to One,’ they wrote online.

‘I am also offended by this poorly written apology by @Channel9, which undermines my concerns and also defends the racist and xenophobic comments made. I ask that #channel9apologize.’

The show is standing by its segment though, issuing a statement to SBS PopAsia that read: ‘As a light-hearted entertainment program, it is our belief that last night’s episode of 20 to One, which highlighted the Greatest Global Crazes, did not breach any broadcast regulations, and was intended to humorously highlight the popularity of the group.

‘We apologise to any who may have been offended by last night’s episode.’

Arabella Chi’s Love Island arrival shakes up the villa and Maura Higgins and Amy Hart aren’t happy

Arabella meets the girls in Love Island
Arabella’s sudden arrival in the series got some of the girls worried (Picture: ITV)

Love Island’s new girl Arabella Chi has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons with a surprise arrival lazing on a sun lounger.

Sorry gang, she’s not Curtis Pritchard’s ex like we thought – he was just genuinely that shocked when he went out for his morning cuppa and found her in the garden.

Running to tell the others, Amy Hart doesn’t seem too happy with a new girl coming in, telling the Beach Hut later: ‘We woke up to Curtis telling us there was a new girl in the villa. Obviously, he was lying, there is a supermodel in the villa.’

Naturally Anton Danyluk, who has not had the best of luck in the villa, jumped at the chance to get his game face on.

‘I wanted it to look like I had just woken up,’ he later admitted. ‘I put a bit of aftershave on and ran outside and I was chilled. I think it worked!’

And fingers crossed for the Scotsman, it might have done as well, as she takes him out on one of the two dates she could go on as an arrival present.

But he has a battle now with Danny – who appears to have given up on the idea of him and Yewande Biala becoming a thing.

Tormented by it over the course of the episode, adding another girl to his plate might be more than he bargained for.

Then there’s Maura, who makes it clear that she’s definitely not happy with the stunning new arrival by admitting: ‘Banging body. Great hair. More competition for Maura!’

Maura Higgins in the Beach Hut - Love Island 2019

With Arabella’s mission for love officially on, who is she going to have to upset in order to get her way?

Admitting there ‘wasn’t a single boy that she found unattractive’, she later said in her first visit to the Beach Hut: ‘I feel like they’ve warmed to me really well.

‘Obviously, I’m going to have to tread on toes and I want to find love. That’s the goal.’

John Torode and Lisa Faulkner love working together on their new cookery show John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen.

Both living together and working together doesn’t create any tensions between the couple, who insist they only have one creative difference on set.

John told Metro.co.uk: ‘I’m a trained chef and have been for many years and Lisa is a home cook. The way we approach cooking is different.

‘Mine is very regimented and very ordered because that’s what you do in a professional kitchen and I will always keep that.

‘But with Lisa, it flows really beautifully and very easily and very naturally. And I think that’s the real difference.’

Lisa added: ‘We cook very differently, but we let each other breathe and we learn from each other.

‘I’m always learning from John. It’s just nice to pick up tips but also to just be who we are. I ask questions I suppose I know as a cook but not as a chef. It just really interests me.’

The hosts say they want the show to feel relaxed, ‘a bit like being at home and cooking in our kitchen’, said Lisa.

‘We forget we’re on camera until we then have to do a link at the end of cooking! I think that’s the highlight. We’re just chatting and cooking and having a lovely time.’

‘It’s nice to be working with someone you like quite a lot,’ John added.

Lisa might be more food-focused these days, but following her stint on EastEnders as Fi Browning in 2017, she is still keen to get back to the day job.

Of her time on the soap, Lisa – who has had roles in Holby City and Spooks – told us: ‘It made my heart properly beat again, and I came home to John and said I really really loved it.

‘It was great fun to cause havoc. And have a story arc and then leave. It was fantastic, a great experience.’

John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen airs Sunday at 9.25am on ITV.

You might think the porn industry is a young person’s game, but Channel 5’s The Sex Business is here to shatter your illusions with elderly sex workers.

The latest episode in the series focused on OAP’s who work in the business, with one individual, 85-year-old Norm, causing a particular stir as he strolled around Amsterdam for his second porn shoot.

After the opening minutes showed Norm’s naked self on display, he was seen filming a sex scene with housemate Brad, along with masturbating on camera.

Speaking to camera on the show, Norm said: ‘I’m actually quite a timid person so I don’t show myself to be shown.

‘I have enjoyed being naked and sexual, knowing that the whole world may be looking, well hooray!

‘That’s what I want, for people to be more open and candid with each other.’

Elsewhere on the show, we were guided around Pippa Jayne’s home in the UK, who has been working as a transgender escort since her mid-50s.

Pippa, 72, showed an assortment of dildos and butt plugs, along with a winch if someone fancied being dangled from the air. We’ve all got our kicks.

‘It’s surprising what people like, actually,’ Pippa said.

We also meet Abby Roberts, 58, in Spain, who considers herself one of the most successful mature porn stars in the business.

‘I don’t really think about age,’ Abby said. ‘We’re much more lively and much more into life than our grandma was.’

Abby got into sex work after her 40th birthday, and now films herself on webcams in an online sex business from home.

Still think porn is for the younger generations? Here’s to the OAP’s giving us hope for our older years.

The Sex Business continues on Channel 5 Tuesday at 10pm.
