Love Island’s Olivia Attwood disagrees contestants should be told about editing amid Joe Garratt backlash

Love Island 2017 contestant Olivia Attwood believes islanders shouldn’t need to be told how they’re being edited to the audience – they should figure it out themselves.

It comes after 2018 contestant Megan Barton-Hanson called for those on the show to be given a heads up on the editing process, after Joe Garratt faced an onslaught of backlash for ‘gaslighting’ Lucie Donlan.

Friends of axed contestant said the show’s editors had chosen to tell ‘a certain narrative’ about him as he came under fire for his treatment of Lucie.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the Barefoot Wine Complimentarium on Thursday night in London alongside Gemma Collins and Bobby Norris, Olivia reflected on her time in the house and felt it wasn’t the show’s job to keep you up to speed.

‘No, because I worked it out on my own,’ she said when asked whether she’d like to have known how she was being edited.

‘I don’t think it’s their job to tell you. How can they say, “Oh, by the way, we’re going to edit you like…” They don’t know what you’re going to do.

‘You’ve got to use a bit of your own intelligence to work it out.’

The model was shacked up with Chris Hughes in the house, the pair placing third in the series. Her fiery relationship with Chris and her tell-it-like-it-is attitude won her a hoard of fans with many shouting for her to enter the house now to spice things up and get the crew into line.

Still, Liv is loving the 2019 cohort, as she said of the islanders: ‘It’s just so different to any other series. I think they’re great. It’s a nicer series.’

Viewers were still up in arms about the treatment of Lucie by the other girls, with nearly 700 complaints made to Ofcom by worried viewers who demanded she be removed from the house.

Liv – who is working on the release of her tan line at the moment – shrugs off the suggestion Lucie is miserable in the house, be it from her treatment by Amy or by this perceived ‘gaslighting’ from Joe.

Guys, she’s gonna be alright.

‘Obviously she’s not upset 24 hours a day,’ Liv insisted. ‘They’re just showing poignant moments; if she’s upset they have to show it.

‘I’m sure if she was in some sort of stress they’d remove her. So I’m convinced she’s not.’

Love Island returns 9pm on ITV2.

Eamonn Holmes has paid tribute to Ruth Langsford’s sister, Julia Johnson, after she passed away from a ‘long illness’ – breaking down in tears as he spoke of her.

The TV presenter, who has been married to Ruth since 2010, took a moment on today’s episode of This Morning to honour is late sister-in-law.

Speaking alongside Rylan Clark-Neal, who stepped in to replace Ruth for the day as she spent time with her family to grieve the loss, Eamonn struggled to talk as he explained why his wife wasn’t beside him.

‘You may already be aware of the terrible bereavement Ruth has had yesterday,’ he said.

‘On her social media, she made this post to inform everyone,’ but as he began to read it out, Rylan stepped in as he struggled to talk through it.

Ruth announced the sad news yesterday on Twitter when she revealed Julia had passed away after suffering from a ‘long illness’.

She wrote simply: ‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

‘She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.’

‘As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family,’ Ruth continued. ‘Thank you for your understanding.’

Eamonn then thanked Rylan for being a support to Ruth through the difficult time she’s going through.

‘We know Ruth’s watching and we’re sending you all our love and we love you dearly,’ Rylan told the cameras. ‘Ruth’s going to need time to deal with this, and so do you, for that matter. I couldn’t not be here.’

Gathering himself together, Eamonn concluded: ‘We’ve got each other, and you’ve got us, and here’s what we’ve got for you today.’

They later added that the phone in would be a special segment on bereavement, in order to allow people struggling with loss to grieve alongside both Eamonn and Ruth.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV1.

Vikings will be returning for its sixth and final season later this year and just when you thought it was impossible to get more hyped, Katheryn Winnick jumps on Instagram and shares a sneak-peek for her followers. Cheers, Kath.

The 41-year-old wrapped up filming the History Channel epic last year, yet fans still have agonising wait until the most gruesome show on the box sings its final swansong.

It’s believed a full trailer will be coming to us at next month’s San-Diego Comic-con, but until then the Queen Lagertha star has given you this:

https://www.instagram.com/p/By8I5BtgaEv/

What a gem.

Any news ahead of the next chapter is undeniably a bitter pill to swallow, as Michael Hirst confirmed season 6 of Vikings would be the last. At least as we know it.

By all accounts there are plans for several spin-off series, but the current story has, according to Hirst, ran its course.

‘I always knew where I wanted the show to go and more or less where it would end if I was given the opportunity What I was trying to do was write the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his sons,’ the showrunner told Variety.

‘After six seasons and 89 episodes, that’s what I felt — finally — I’d done. We stopped shooting the final episode in November last year and I felt that I’d said all I needed to say about Ragnar and his sons.’

Hirst added: ‘I told my saga, and I’d been very fortunate to be given that opportunity by MGM and History. I had no reason to want to continue it beyond that. But, there are 20 new episodes to come.’

Vikings season 6 is expected to return to History Channel later this year. Seasons one to five are available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Best new squad ever? (Picture: Instagram)

Stranger Things and EXO are the mash-up we never knew we needed but it’s more than anything we could’ve dreamed of as they teamed up in South Korea.

Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo announced that it was their first time in the country and celebrated by having the coolest tour guides ever as EXO joined them for the day.

Wearing traditional dress, the group posed for a picture that was later shared by Caleb, thanking them for looking after them as they spent time promoting the new season of Stranger Things.

Kai and Suho later joined them at the fan event celebrating season three of the 1980s set horror series, posting for photos as they joined in on the fun and games of the event.

The Netflix smash has just released the final trailer for the upcoming season, which appears to confirm that the creatures they had been fighting against have found a new human host in poor Billy Hargreaves.

That’s right gang – the Demogorgon is back.

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - JUNE 20: Caleb McLaughlin, Kai of South Korean boy band EXO-K, Gaten Matarazzo and Su ho aka Suho of South Korean boy band EXO-K attend Netflix???s 'Stranger Things 3' Seoul Premiere on June 20, 2019 in Seoul, South Korea. As the team rally together in a local Starcourt Mall, it doesn’t look great for the gang who have to all club together or risk the end of the world.

Just usual kids’ stuff then.

The action has moved to a sweltering summer in 1985, where promos for the next adventure promise a summer that will change everything.

It’s been warned that it’s also going to be extremely gory – so prepare for some more characters to go the way of Barb in the bloodshed.

Revealing the influences this season took for the adventures of the gang of Hawkins, Indiana, the team have promised hints of Jurassic Park, The Thing, and Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

Stranger Things season 3 drops on 4 July on Netflix.

Gavin and Stacey cast kick off rehearsals next week (Picture: BBC/NBC)

The Gavin and Stacey reboot is officially kicking off next week as James Corden broke the news to his live studio audience of The Late Late Show.

The 40-year-old has been back on his home turf for the past week with a string of A-list pals he’s picked up on both sides of the pond, bringing his popular chat show to the UK for a second time.

Tonight, the Essex-born actor wraps up his week in London with special guests Paul Giamatti and Michael Sheen after welcoming the likes of Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal and Millie Bobby Brown to his sofa.

And in between takes, James managed to slip in the gigantic news that this coming Monday, June 24, the Gavin and Stacey cast will be sitting together for the first time in almost a decade as they kick off their read-through.

‘This is it now, we go on another break and I’m going to start this on Monday morning – this new Gavin and Stacey Special,’ he told fans.

‘Or as me and Ruth Jones say, “We start this new Gavin and [pretends to throw up], just out of nerves.”‘

Fans of the much-loved sitcom have been begging the team to make a comeback ever since they were last seen on our screens nine years ago, and the Smithy actor confirmed the news on Twitter last month.

Posting a picture of the script, he wrote: ‘Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while… We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day.’

Mandatory Credit: Photo by REX (813514aq) Mathew Horne and James Corden. Filming of the Christmas episode of 'Gavin and Stacey' in Barry Island, Wales, Britain - Oct 2008 Filming on a special Christmas edition of hit TV show 'Gavin and Stacey' has got underway. The comedy is about the long-distance relationship between Essex boy Gav (Mathew Horne) and small-town Welsh girl Stacey (Joanna Page). The show's co-writers, James Corden and Ruth Jones, play the couple's friends Smithy and Nessa. Bosses of the BAFTA award-winning show are remaining tight-lipped about the exact plot for the Christmas programme. Whatever the plot may be the stars certainly seemed to be enjoying filming and were often spotted in fits of laughter and joking around in between takes. Not even the temperamental weather, some of the scenes had to be adapted due to an unexpected downpour of rain, could dampen spirits.

In joint statement on the show’s return, Ruth and James said: ‘Over the last 10 years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like. And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one hour special.

‘We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.’

The Late Late Show continues tonight at 9pm on Sky One, while Gavin and Stacey returns for a one-off Christmas Special later this year.

The Act: How Patricia Arquette, Joey King and the cast compare to the real Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard

$

The tale of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother Dee Dee is one of the ultimate, Stranger-Than-Fiction true crime horror stories.

Newly recreated for new Amazon/StarzPlay series, The Act, the story of murder and decades of Munchausen’s By Proxy has brought the tale to life once more.

While the production team has taken certain artistic licence to adapt the story to screen, The Act has gone to great lengths to make sure that at least visually, the characters are as close to their real-life counterparts as possible.

From the outfits and the voices, all the way down to one actress shaving her head, the show made sure that they were as on point as possible.

Here’s what the cast look like next to the real people they are meant to be depicting.

The Act: Real Life Vs. The Show
Joey King actually shaved her head to play the tortured Gypsy Rose Blanchard (Picture: Hulu/TV)

Gypsy Rose Blanchard (played by Joey King)

Gypsy Rose Blanchard spent the first 20 years of her life believing she was younger than she was, and was terminally ill, as her mother forced her to endure surgeries she didn’t need and publicly use a wheelchair.

As a victim of Munchausens-by-Proxy, Gypsy and those around her were made to believe that she had cancer, muscular dystophy, needed a feeding tube, and constant medical care.

Her teeth even rotted out as a side effect of the medication she was taking but didn’t need.

The truth finally came out after Dee Dee was murdered by Gypsy and her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn.

She is currently serving 10 years for second degree murder, and has just got engaged to a penpal who has been writing to her in prison.

For the show, actor Joey King actually shaved her head in order to play Gypsy, something that Patricia Arquette, who plays mum Dee Dee, called ‘very ballsy’.

The Act: Real Life Vs. The Show
Patricia Arquette admits that she had to find the sympathy in Dee Dee’s horrific acts in order to play her (Picture: Hulu/TV)

Dee Dee Blanchard (played by Patricia Arquette)

Dee Dee Blanchard was found stabbed to death in her bed in June 2015 after a Facebook post declared that she had been murdered.

Until that moment, Dee Dee was considered a kind and caring mother to her ailing daughter Gypsy – however it didn’t take long for the truth to emerge.

From the age of three, Dee Dee had been coming up with illnesses and sicknesses for Gypsy to have and even changed her birth date from 1991 to 1995 via forged birth certificates.

Over the course of her deception, Dee Dee was given hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of care and treatment, claiming that she had her life washed away in the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina to get a new house.

While she was known to be overly-cautious with her ‘terminally sick daughter’, noone had any idea that everything she had said was a lie.

For all the despicable things Dee Dee did while she was alive, actress Patricia Arquette admitted she had to find a way to ‘make sense’ of Dee Dee in order to play her.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she told us: ‘I couldn’t just play her as this bad person. By the time they were making the documentaries, everybody knew what Dee Dee had been doing – so it really coloured the way everybody talked about Dee Dee, or thought about Dee Dee.

‘So, as an actor to play her i had to kind of come up with thought processes that kind of made sense, for me at least, and that gave me some empathy for her myself.’

‘It’s such a beautiful, horrifying relationship,’ she continued. ‘In one way they loved each other so much, and I think to Dee Dee she really felt like this was the most important relationship of her life, and loved her daughter so much, but on the other hand she was torturing her daughter, and in terror that her daughter would ever leave, to be independent or break away for her – that Dee Dee may be abandoned or alone.

‘There were so many things in their relationship or in Dee Dee herself that were perversions of what’s natural. No one likes their kid breaking away and growing up, but with Dee Dee it was so extreme everything, the threat was so huge to Dee Dee.’

Nicholas Godejohn
Nick was drawn into the traumatic world and ended up killing Dee Dee in order to save girlfriend Gypsy (Picture: Rex/AP)

Nicholas Godejohn (played by Calum Worthy)

Nicholas Godejohn had a two-year online relationship with Gypsy, which was hidden from her mother by use of secret accounts.

He is now serving a life sentence for the murder of Dee Dee, after stabbing her to death at Gypsy’s request before they attempted to run away together.

Calum Worthy, who plays Nick, said that in order to get into the role, he focused on Nick’s struggle with mental health issues.

Diagnosed with autism mid-trial, Nick also believed that he had multiple personalities including a ‘bad side’ called Victor, although it is not known if he was ever officially diagnosed with Disassociative Identity Disorder.

If he did have DID, he would be ‘switching’ between multiple personalities, unable to control one from the other.

Speaking about getting into that headspace, Calum said: ‘I knew that he struggled with a lot of disturbing thoughts, so at night I would watch disturbing videos and fall asleep to that.’

He later added to E!: ‘At night, the only thing that would help me was looking at pictures of him from before the crime. There are only a few pictures that we had from before he met Gypsy.

‘I would look at those and remember that he had a lot of life that he lived before the actual events took place and that kind of made me feel like I was doing it for Nick, that I was putting in all the work to make sure I was doing his story justice.’

However, the extreme caused him to get out of that headspace, and he admits that he sympathises with Nick.

‘I’m not saying there shouldn’t be consequences for murder, but I also know there’s a human in that cell,’ Calum added. ‘He has challenges of his own, and I just want to make sure that he’s OK, that he’s safe and that he’s at peace with himself.’

Aleah Woodmansee and Lacey from The Act - Gypsy Rose Blanchard story
Lacey doesn’t actually exist – but is instead based loosely on her (Picture: Hulu/HBO)

Lacey / Aleah Woodmansee (played by AnnaSophia Robb)

In one of the most obvious strays from the real-life tale of Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee, The Act creates the fictional neighbour of Lacey – a friend for Gypsy to rely on.

While she may be completely made up, the character is most likely based on Aleah Woodmansee, a close friend of Gypsy who would talk to her about boys.

With similar dress sense and wavy blonde hair, its easy to see why the two would be compared – but Aleah is unhappy with the portrayal of the girl that would be ‘her’.

In the show, Lacey can be seen giving Gypsy cigarettes and getting homemade tattoos, and both are things that Aleah said didn’t happen.

Speaking to InTouch magazine about the show, she said: ‘It apparently depicts me smoking with Gypsy? That never happened. Alcohol and smoking were things we never discussed.

‘Literally, the most risqué topics we even touched on were boys … and at the time I believed she was no older than the age of 15, so we can all assume that remained pretty tame.’

Aleah added that she felt the behaviour of the character portrayed on screen damaged her respectable image by people who ‘prefer drama over respect’.

Gypsy Rose Blanchards father
Rod Blanchard was barely in The Act – but they made sure even he looked similar to the real-life counterpart (Picture: Hulu / Getty)

Rod Blanchard (played by Cliff Chamberlain)

Gypsy’s father, Rod Blanchard, played a very small role in The Act, but had a more major role in Gypsy’s younger life before Dee Dee moved her away.

Rod was just 17 when Dee Dee, then 24, fell pregnant with Gypsy, and briefly married her out of a sense of responsibility.

However, he decided to divorce her less than a year later, after realising his mistake.

He maintained constant child support for his daughter after the split and helped fund her medical care, completely believing everything Dee Dee told him.

Rod admitted that he thought Dee Dee was the ‘best mum in the world’ for looking after his daughter, and would frequently see Gypsy until Dee Dee eventually held off contact and moved further away from him.

Since Dee Dee’s death, Gypsy and Rod have maintained contact – and he told Fox News that their relationship was now ‘100x better’.

‘She can call me anytime and she does. I’m keeping tabs on all of her accomplishments in school,’ he said. ‘She’s getting her GED. … It’s wonderful,’ he said.

‘I can’t wait for her to get out so we can build on that foundation that we started here.’

Eamonn Holmes admitted that wife Ruth Langsford was ‘broken’ as Loose Women sent their condolences for the loss of Ruth’s sister, Julia Johnson.

The This Morning presenter was seen struggling to talk through the episode as friends and call-in viewers send their love to him and his wife.

Introducing what was coming up on Loose Women, Andrea McLean spoke on behalf of the team as she spoke to Eamonn to send love to their friend.

She said: ‘Eamonn, just before we go, we did want to send all our love to Ruth of course. Please do let us know all of us at Loose Women are thinking of her, and of course, you and the family. Lots of love to you.’

Eamonn, who was getting choked up again, was supported by Eamonn as he responded: ‘Really appreciate it. She’s broken, guys. Thank you very much indeed, thank you.’

Rylan Clark-Neal stepped in for Ruth today after she announced she had lost her sister yesterday after ‘a long illness’.

Love Island 2019: Is Arabella Chi still with Charlie Frederick?

Love Island's Charlie Frederick and Arabella Chi

New girl Arabella Chi has been making waves in the Love Island villa, as she seems to have her eyes on Danny Williams, despite the fact he’s coupled up with Yewande Biala.

It was also revealed that she shares an ex with Lucie Donlan in former Love Islander Charlie Frederick. Whew, the tangled webs they weave.

Even more tangled is the fact that Arabella may not even be completely broken up with Charlie at all, as some very incriminating screenshots seem to show.

Charlie posted the screenshots to his Instagram, after his initial shock that she was in the villa had worn off, and it does look pretty incriminating.

He claimed he felt like he’d been ‘mugged off’ and that he was ‘truly upset that Arabella has lied to [him] about what she was doing’.

But are they actually still together, and if they were would this constitute a big rule break?

Charlie Frederick Love Island
Charlie Frederick hit out at Love Island (Picture: Instagram)
Charlie Frederick Love Island
Charlie Frederick hit out at Love Island (Picture: Instagram)

Charlie posted two text pictures on his Instagram story yesterday, claiming that he and Arabella were very much still together.

He then shared the aforementioned screenshots – which are now deleted – and they don’t look good.

In text messages that appear to be between him and Arabella taking place less than two weeks ago, she begs him to come over, to which he replied ‘I really cba tonight bella I’m so tired [sic]’.

She then replied ‘I just want to hold you and be in your arms. Please babe x. I’m actually begging you. Please’. Charlie again declined.

Other screenshots showed them both calling each other babe, and reflecting on their time together, before Arabella seems to go somewhat cold, and Charlie says ‘I don’t understand why you’ve ghosted me’. It appears that this may have been when her plans to enter Love Island were keeping her busy.

It’s unclear whether they were definitely together at this point, as earlier on in the conversation Charlie said ‘Not gunna wait around to be told you can’t do this anymore or you’re freaking out again [sic]’ and Arabella says ‘Yeh I get that. I’m sorry Iv been such a mind fuck. I do need you in my life [sic]’.

Love Island bosses claim that they spoke with Arabella before her entry into the show, and she had confirmed she was definitely single. Regardless of the official status, however, there seem to be crossed wires and mixed signals for Charlie.

Michael Jackson’s doctor waited 25 minutes to call police after finding singer’s body, claims new documentary

A new Michael Jackson documentary claims Dr Conrad Murray spent 25 minutes on his phone before calling police after discovering the singer’s body.

Killing Michael Jackson is set to explore the circumstances surrounding the late singer’s death, focusing on three US detectives who led the original investigation.

Jackson was found dead on 25 June 2009 of a cardiac arrest attributed to fatal dose of the anaesthetic propofol, with his personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray, convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 and serving two years in prison.

In the documentary, detectives Orlando Martinez, Dan Myers, and Scott Smith, claim Murray should have been convicted of second-degree murder, saying he negligently administered a lethal dose of the drug and purposefully kept him under the influence.

Detective Martinez also claims Murray spent 25 minutes clearing away medical supplies, making phone calls, and sending emails before assisting Jackson with CPR and calling the police.

‘Mr Murray started cleaning up the mess that he had left, covering up the medical treatment that he was giving,’ Martinez said.

‘He put that away, called for help from security, and directed them to call 911 while he gave ineffective, one-handed CPR.’

Detective Martinez argues Murray attempted to cover up Jackson’s death by hiding receipts worth up to the value of five gallons of propofol at his girlfriend’s apartment, saying that ‘at that point we knew this was not an honest mistake, but that this was on purpose, bad medicine’.

In the documentary, Steve Shafer, professor of anaesthesiology at Stanford University, claims Conrad ‘asserted things that were not true’ during his interviews with police.

Conrad Murray

Describing how he believes Murray negligently administered the drug, Shafer said: ‘Basically, Murray was using the saline bag to hang the bottle of propofol from the stand and also, I think, to hide it because he didn’t want anybody to know he was using propofol.

‘It’s insane. Nobody trained in propofol administration would not precisely control the infusion rate; nobody trained in the use of propofol would ever walk away from a patient who is receiving propofol as a continuous infusion.’

Elsewhere in the documentary, the detectives detailed what was inside the room where Jackson died.

‘There were post-it notes, or pieces of paper taped all over the room and mirrors and doors with little slogans or phrases,’ Detective Martinez says.

‘I don’t know if they were lyrics or thoughts. Some of them seemed like poems. The bedroom was… it was a mess.’

Yewande Biali is left ‘f***ing fuming’ after a confrontation with Arabella Chi over Danny Williams on Friday’s Love Island.

Arabella entered the villa and instantly took a shine to Danny; on their first date they both admitted they had a connection forcing Yewande to have a conversation with Danny about her feelings before she felt ready.

Unfortunately though, that’s the name of the game, and although Yewande told Danny she liked him and would offer more affectionate – which is what he said he had been missing – it seems he can’t stop thinking about Arabella.

And it seems that after the girls have a chat about the situation, Yewande lose her cool.

Love Island's Yewande biali
Yewande is not happy. Really not happy (Picture: ITV)

‘Today we were talking about the fact that both of us can’t deny there is a connection,’ Arabella tells her, to which Yewande interrupts: ‘Between you and Danny?’

‘He feels like he still wants to get to know me,’ the model adds leaving Yewande silently seething.

‘Anything else? Ok cool,’ Yewande cheerily says before walking away to the kitchen when she tells Molly-Mae Hague she is, in fact, ‘f***ing fuming’ over the situation.

Danny had earlier told Arabella that he ‘cannot ignore how good our date was’ but Arabella believes Yewande is ‘getting territorial’.

Previously Yewande had been questioning her feelings for Danny despite it seeming like they were getting closer.

Love Island's Yewande Biali
Are we seeing a different side to Yewande?

Viewers sympathised with the stunning scientist as she second guessed both Danny and herself, with islander Anna Vakili admitting that Yewande doesn’t realise what a catch she is.

Danny later doubted their romantic connection and admitted he feels ‘dejected’, with Maura Higgins telling him ‘just f***king nip it in the f***ing bud’.

They gave it a second shot but will Arabella be the final nail in the coffin?

Love Island airs on ITV2 Sunday – Thursday at 9pm.

Jodie Whittaker as Doctor Who
Jodie Whittaker’s been rocking a very different look on the set of Doctor Who (Picture: BBC)

Jodie Whittaker is rocking her actual birthday suit on the set of Doctor Who season 12 – no, not that one.

The 37-year-old slipped into The Thirteenth doc’s new robes for the first time last year, sporting a sky blue trench coat, blue T-shirt, trousers and boots. All in all it was bang on the Time Lord trend.

But sharing one of the few behind-the-scenes shots from the next cycle of Doctor Who way ahead of its release, Jodie’s co-star Mandip Gill – who stars as Yasmin Khan in the sci-fi epic – revealed the leading lady has gone for an… unconventional ensemble.

Jodes is rocking a silver sequinned party dress, feathered pink headdress, and humongous ‘Birthday Girl’ badge and whatever year she’s travelled to, please pray this isn’t the future of fashion in 2020.

Thankfully, we can let the questionable outfit slide because the mum-of-one was celebrating her actual birthday on June 17.

Although, looking at Bradley Walsh’s face, we relate.

Little is known about the next series of Doctor Who, other than we have to wait an age for it as the BBC confirmed the Whovians would be Who-less in 2019.

However, what we do know is enough to make any fan froth like a cappuccino as showrunner Chris Chibnall confirmed the Judoon would be returning after a 12 year hiatus.

‘The Judoon are storming back into Doctor Who in full force, and the streets of Gloucester aren’t safe,’ he revealed last month as the cast were spotted filming in the West Country.

‘If anyone has anything to hide, confess now.’ Chris added: ‘The whole team on Doctor Who are delighted and scared in equal measure to welcome them back: one of many treats we’ve got in store for viewers next series.’

Doctor Who returns to BBC One in 2020.

Netflix UK in July 2019: Best new shows from Stranger Things to Orange Is The New Black

Netflix in July
Netflix has some treats in store for July (Picture: Netflix)

As summer allegedly arrives, Netflix is dialling up the reasons to stay indoors and never enjoy the dastardly sunshine.

New episodes from Black Mirror and the closing bow of Marvel’s Jessica Jones may have been the highlights of last month, but there’s a bigger wealth of new releases on the near horizon.

So what’s going to make the sofa sweat patch extra sticky? Here’s what you need to catch on Netflix in July 2019.

Stranger Things season 3 – 4 July

Stranger Things is back with a new summer 1985 vibe and a dose of new cast members, although don’t expect the Demogorgon horrors in the Upside Down to fade just yet.

The second season hit a few stumbles, mainly around character Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her bizarre superhero-inspired episode, so we’re looking forward to seeing whether the third season can pull off, and justify, risky strays from the formula.

Queer Eye season 4 – 19 July

QUEER EYE
Queer Eye is back for a fourth season (Picture: Christopher Smith/Netflix)

Bobby Berk, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, and Antoni Porowski are back for the fourth season of Queer Eye, giving everyone another dose of optimism before the year is out.

The third season marked the most refined spin on the formula yet, but we’ll have to see if there’s enough new ground to cover to warrant a fourth and future fifth outing.

Gotham season 5 – 24 July

Gotham season 5 is finally coming to UK shores (Picture: Fox)

After airing in the US earlier this year, Gotham’s fifth and final season is finally landing on UK shores this month, featuring a bunch of classic Batman villains.

The final season was praised by critics for having fun with its vast range of characters, including Bane, The Riddler, Penguin, and Bruce Wayne himself.

Orange Is The New Black season 7 – 26 July

The seventh and final season of Orange Is The New Black arrives this month, bringing an end to one of Netflix’s first breakout originals following House Of Cards.

The final bow is set to follow Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) path after prison as she navigates the outside world, all while her former inmates still remain behind bars.

Starring Chris Evans, Haley Bennett and Ben Kingsley, The Red Sea Diving Resort is a biographical drama film which follows the work of Mossad agents to rescue and evacuate Jewish-Ethiopians from Israel to Sudan in 1981.

The film is directed and written by Gideon Raff, who helmed the critically acclaimed Israeli drama series Prisoners Of War, and also helped write episodes of Homeland.

You can star in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 14 – they just want your money first

People should know better by now than to give the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia money – because they will go out and spend it on Arabian Horseflies.

So Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney have come up with a new hair-brained scheme in order to help them save some cash – and do some good for charity while they’re at it.

Hey, even these guys know when to support a good cause!

In a hilarious new video, Charlie and the rest of the It’s Always Sunny team reveal that they’re launching a prize on Omaze for one lucky fan to come and be a featured extra on season 14 of the whacky comedy.

Shot behind-the-scenes of the show, Charlie is seen panicking about being way over-budget, after Rob bought himself a ‘bunch of Super Bowl rings’ which makes no sense seeing as he’s not on the team.

But that doesn’t matter too much to Rob, who then reveals the new campaign.

Glenn Howeron and Kaitlin Olson (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia)
You will be able to guest star in the show and (potentially) get a speaking role (Picture: Omaze/YouTube)

They get to save some cash on extras, some lucky fan gets to hang out on set, and a charity gets some dollar in the process – everybody wins!

Rounding up the rest of the gang, Rob politely explained: ‘We’ll take him for all he’s worth, or her, and then we don’t have to come to work anymore. Two problems solved.’

‘We’re getting free labour, disguised as charity!,’ Charlie happily adds.

Way to win us over there, dudes.

It's Always Sunny cast

Thankfully, they put in a bit more effort for the main plug (hey, we said a bit!) and call for independently wealthy fans who can work for free and dream of instant fame to pledge for the prize.

‘Comedy legend’ Glenn Howerton (Dennis) also throws his thoughts in and said: ‘If Kaitlin can be on television, then anybody can.’

Cue Kaitlin Olsen (Dee) reminding everyone of the time he was replaced by a sex doll for an episode in season 13 and nobody noticed.

(We noticed. It’s now burned into our eyes forever.)

It's Always Sunny Rob (Mac) and Charlie (Charlie)
Charlie and Rob drive quite the hard bargain in the name of charity (Picture: Omaze/YouTube)

The money raised will go towards the Hole In The Wall Gang – a US charity that sets up a summer camp for children and their families battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

As part of the prize (which is for you and a friend), you will also be flown out to LA and put up in a four-star hotel…or the upstairs room in Paddy’s, they haven’t decided yet.

So if you want to go hang out with these self-centred, horrible people (according to a critic), you can donate here.

Please do not send it to Charlie, for IRS purposes.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is available now on Netflix.

Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard admits Arabella Chi is a much better kisser than Amy Hart

Things are going to get a bit sticky for Curtis Pritchard in the Love Island villa tonight’s after he gave new girl Arabella Chi top marks for her kissing skills.

In a preview for tonight’s episode, the gang are seen playing a kissing game in which the boys have to wear blindfolds and smooch each girl in the villa.

When Arabella locks lips with Curtis, he smiles and is, to Amy Hart’s horror, clearly pretty into it.

‘Good connection, it’s a 10,’ he grins.

His high mark – the only 10 on the board at that point – causes the rest of the boys to make sounds of disbelief.

Molly-Mae Hague can’t hide the shock her face, before the camera pans over Amy, who is perplexed that her ‘half-boyfriend’ would give another girl top marks.

Anton then whispers to Curtis: ‘I don’t think that’s who you think it is.’

It isn’t clear whether the kiss with Arabella took place before Amy had a go, but we imagine she’s not going to let that remark go anytime soon.

The clip comes after fans discovered Curtis already follows the newcomer on his social media.

Viewers have speculated over whether or not they previously dated, or at least slid into each other’s DMs as they seem to be a fan of each other’s grids.

The rest of the sneak-peek also shows tension rising between Yewande Biala and Arabella as they lock horns over Danny Williams.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

Dermot O’Leary on the biggest misconception of Noel Gallagher and why chat shows will follow David Letterman’s lead

Dermot O'Leary and Noel Gallagher
Dermot O’Leary turns chat show host on Reel Stories (Picture: BBC)

Dermot O’Leary might be primarily known for presenting The X Factor and series on Radio 2, but he’s casually dipping his toes into a new kind of chat show.

The 46-year-old presenter will be joined by Noel Gallagher on Reel Stories – a chat show on BBC iPlayer which invites guest to look back over their career through archive footage, old interviews, and clips.

The first episode featured Kylie Minogue, but for the production team it was a far more difficult task digging out fresh, surprising material for Noel.

‘We had an embarrassment of riches with Noel,’ Dermot told Metro.co.uk. ‘Which is weird because with Kylie you had all those great Saturday morning TV shows and the early acting career, whereas with Noel it’s Oasis performances and interviews.

‘We had to dig deep to find good original stuff you might not have seen before, especially off the back of Oasis documentary Supersonic – which I loved.’

Dermot wanted to capture the period when Oasis pioneered the Britpop movement in the mid-1990s and when they were ‘unassailable’, rather than dig up the conflict with his brother Liam.

Noel and Liam Gallagher

‘Noel said there’s that period which is untouchable when you’re the same age as your fans, you haven’t made any money yet – so you’re performing to people that are living your life in the moment at that time,’ Dermot recalled.

‘I [wanted] to capture that period in his life, and then the progression into his solo stuff and the call of when you leave Oasis. We didn’t want to make it too conflict heavy with Liam, so we didn’t really go there particularly or deliberately. It was more circumstantial I think.’

Dermot has previously spoken to Noel for his Radio 2 show, and believes he’s a warmer character than his public perception may lead people to believe.

‘He’s so giving, he’s brilliantly candid, he’s funny, he’s super bright, like all these things we know about him,’ Dermot said.

‘He’s probably warmer than people think he is, [for those] that remember Oasis for smashing up hotel rooms, and they weren’t ashamed in being moody and having fights at gigs.

‘We talk about all those things. He said there was a period for six months where people were just clobbering them at gigs. Their own fans were just chucking shoes at them and stuff. But I’ve always found him really warm.’

Dermot O'Leary and Noel Gallagher
The first episode of Reel Stories saw Dermot chat to Kylie Minogue (Picture: BBC)

More editions of Reel Stories are planned to be released before the end of the year, but Dermot isn’t aiming to land a traditional series run with the show.

Chat shows like David Letterman’s My Guest Needs No Introduction on Netflix demonstrate how the format is transitioning to a streaming service model, dropping six special episodes all at once with high profile guests like Kanye West and Barack Obama.

While this episode of Reel Stories will also be broadcast on BBC Two, Dermot believes the future of chat shows does lie with streaming services.

‘The lovely thing for me is, it just takes the pressure off doing a show that you know you’ve got to deliver by a certain time,’ Dermot said. ‘Even though it’s economically friendly for production companies and you’d rather have a series, I’d rather make better shows and better TV.’

Asked if the future of chat shows lies with streaming services, Dermot said: ‘I think we’ve probably seen it already. The Letterman show is on Netflix, and you’re right, this is a chat show for all intents and purposes.

Dermot O'Leary

‘It’s kind of nice to go, we’ve got this person, we’ll do it, and then we’ve got the end of the year to deliver a couple more. That probably is the way it’s going.’

But who are his dream guests? There’s an eclectic mix on his wish list.

‘There’s so many. I could crack open a bottle of wine and me and you have a conversation all afternoon,’ Dermot said.

‘I’d love Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney. Do you know what? I’d really love to get the Spice Girls together. But I won’t be able to get a word in edgeways.’

Reel Stories: Noel Gallagher airs on BBC Two Sunday 23 June at 10.30pm, and will be available on BBC iPlayer afterwards.

The Big Bang Theory sums up everything we feel about Avengers: Endgame returning to cinemas

Avengers Endgame return to cinemas Big Bang Theory Penny
Penny isn’t a fan of a re-release (Picture: Marvel, NBC)

Earlier this month we were surprised with the news that an extended version of Avengers: Endgame is winging its way into back onto the big screen for another release in cinemas.

For fans of the movie, this is obviously the best news ever but there are some people out there who just don’t get why the same film but with an extra few scenes needs to be released again.

If you’re one of these people, don’t worry. You’re far from alone.

‘Overrated film,’ wrote one Twitter user, while another accused Marvel of ‘trolling its fan base into spending more money.’

One tweeter went as far as posting a gif of a farmer milking a cow… wonder what they could be alluding to…

Turns out The Big Bang Theory’s Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is also skeptical of movies making a second appearance in cinemas, as shown in an episode about an extended version of Indiana Jones all the way back in 2010.

While the boys are getting hyped about going to watch the action movie on the big screen – complete with an extra 21 seconds of previously unseen footage! Penny can’t get her head round why someone would want to go and see it at the cinema when you could just watch it at home.

‘Twenty-one seconds!’ She mocks. ‘That’ll be like seeing a whole new movie!’

Not quite up to speed with her sarcasm, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) pipes up: ‘Excatly. They say it solves the submarine controversy…’

The scene was aired halfway through season four after Leonard and Penny had broken up. We knew things were frosty between them around this time, but you know things are really bad when Sheldon (Jim Parsons) has to be the mediator.

Black Widow Hulk Avengers
Will we be getting an explanation of the Black Widow/Hulk romance? (Picture: Marvel)

So 21 seconds might not be enough to entice Penny to go and see and extended version of Indiana Jones, and we’re sure Avengers fans will be hoping to see a lot more unseen footage than that in this new iteration.

The movie released back in April was a whopping three hours and two minutes long but still had a whole raft of scenes cut.

According to the writers there were originally plans to give Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner/Hulk’s (Mark Ruffalo) relationship the closure it needed, and an intense scene between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) ended up on the cutting room floor.

Whether you think buying tickets to the Avengers: Endgame extended edition release is worth it or a waste of money is up to you… but let’s all hope we’re not being sold just an extra 21 seconds.

Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis lost sleep over Friends cameo: ‘I was so nervous’

Kristin Davis as Erin in Friends
Kristin was super nervous before her appearance on Friends (Picture: Warner Bros, Getty Images)

Only a true Friends fan would be able to remember all the girls Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) dated over the ten year span of the show.

But there were a couple of famous faces among the long line-up you would know: Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, Gabrielle Union and Elle McPherson to name a few.

Kristin Davies (Charlotte on Sex and the City) also appeared in a one off episode as Erin – the seemingly perfect girl for Joey who makes friends with Rachel after spending the night in their apartment.

But even though she’d already appeared on the SATC for two years, Kristin has revealed she was still really nervous to guest star on one of the most iconic sitcoms ever.

‘I remember losing sleep,’ she told Today. ‘Sex and the City was in production, but I was nervous to be the tiny character of Erin, losing sleep, partly because of the live audience, but partly because you’re in this world that has been created that is so alive and so specific and you’re trying to make sure you’re fitting yourself in there properly.

‘And I remember, like, ‘Will I set that joke up OK? Will Matt [LeBlanc] be happy? Will I just go blank?’ Things go through your head when you’re in those situations that are heightened like that. Obviously it was the highest of the high at that point.’

Kristin only appeared on one episode of Friends, after Joey decided there was no spark between them, but that didn’t stop the actor picking up on what everyday life was like on the set.

‘I remember watching Lisa Kudrow especially, because she had this very involved storyline that she wanted to work on, and the way that she worked with the writing staff,’ recalled the 54-year-old.

David Schwimmer was directing, which was also fascinating, and he was obviously a great director and a great actor’s director and a combination of fun and low-key but also the boss, which was amazing to see.’

Obviously we knew working on Friends would be fun but this sounds even better than we imagined.

Sex and the City cast
Kristin is best known for playing Charlotte on Sex and the City (Picture: Everett Collection)

‘Watching Lisa rework her character’s arc or what was happening in that episode was really something that I hadn’t really seen in that way where someone who obviously knew her own power and knew what was right and knew what was funny – because there’s no one funnier than Lisa Kudrow – really went and reworked it in a way that was amazing,’ continued Kristin.

Even though she actually only acted on one episode of Friends, Kristen was also lucky enough to watch the gang rehearse when she was guesting on ER which used to shoot in the set next door. And guess what? She was only hanging out with Doug himself, George Clooney.

‘George and I went over to watch at lunch and we sat up in the stands and watched them rehearse and it was so funny and amazing,’ she explained.

‘James Burrows was directing, whom I love so much, and to watch that show and then see that show on the air and to see that chemistry that the cast had come together.

‘They were so on it in terms of their voices and their characters and the beats, and they just knew what they were doing, and I remember being blown away by their confidence level and their synergy as a group.’

Madonna has another wild interview after controversial Graham Norton appearance

Madonna on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Kimmel
Looks like the eye-patch is no more (Picture: NBC)

Remember Madonna’s appearance on The Graham Norton Show a couple of weeks ago? Of course you do, it was bonkers.

Well the Queen of Pop is at it again, this time over in the states during a stint on The Tonight Show, hosted by comedian Jimmy Fallon.

Before they sat down to chat, Madge and Jimmy donned light up suits to go head-to-head in a strangely hypnotic dance battle.

The 60-year-old star seemed to take the skit entirely seriously, but you can never really tell with Madonna. Either way she seemed happy to have won in the end, and later admitted she wished they had carried on.

Jimmy revealed they had actually practiced a few moves backstage, including one where he lay on his back and Madonna sat on his hands (we have no idea either), but it was apparently deemed ‘too hot for TV’.

‘I disagree,’ declared Madonna, though it was still unclear whether she was joking or not.

She then spent the next few minutes of the interview bizarrely questioning whether a member of the show’s band, Questlove, was mad at her, and calling him grumpy.

Ermmmm, he might be grumpy after that…

Carrying on her charm offensive, she also told Jimmy his dancing was akin to ‘physical comedy’ and told him he needed to get a new hairdresser.

Jimmy attempts to bring the interview back into the realm of reality by asking about her new album, Madame X, but the conversation quickly slipped into an impromptu duet of Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime.

Madonna on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Kimmel
A totally normal interview, as you can see (Picture: NBC)

It only got weirder when Jimmy discussed the last time Madge appeared on his show, alongside then-President Barack Obama.

‘That is probably the most nervous I’ve ever been in my life. I had butterflies in my stomach, I was completely and utterly starstruck. I was gagging… he’s so hot,’ he quipped.

The comedian remembered the incident just a little differently, and said he heard Madonna tell Obama he was the only reason she was doing the show.

‘I was like ‘I can hear you!’ he said while she admitted it was true.

And just in case this wasn’t already the oddest interview on television, Madonna then went on to give Jimmy – and the whole live audience – a cha cha lesson.

At this point, why not?

Piers Morgan slammed Madonna as ‘rude, vain and obnoxious’ when she appeared on The Graham Norton Show earlier this month, with viewers dubbing the interview ‘awkward’ and ‘cringeworthy’.

It’s not clear which part of Madonna’s presence Piers was so upset with, but it could be the fact that she was deemed to be rude to national treasure Sir Ian McKellan when she said she didn’t remember working with him in the 90s.

Awks.

Molly, Lucie, and Maura in Love Island
Will you put your money on these gals? (Picture: ITV)

Love Island is currently hotting up, as new girl Arabella has her eyes on Danny, and rumours abound of a Casa Amor on the horizon.

If we’re honest as viewers, it’s a welcome change from the previously loved-up harmony that the villa was radiating.

That’s not to say that there isn’t some sparks flying among the couples that are already established, with Amber and Michael’s chemistry giving us all the feels.

And, although we’ll see Amy and Curtis have a very awkward moment in today’s challenge, they’ve also managed to go the distance so far.

But who will make it to the very end and take the £50k prize. Here’s what the bookies are saying.

Love Island 2019 odds

Odds courtesy of Coral

  • 5-4 Michael and Amber
  • 7-2 Curtis and Amy
  • 9-2 Tommy and Molly-Mae
  • 10-1 Danny and Yewande

‘Michael and Amber are all the rage right now and we have them as our hot favourites to be crowned the winning couple of Love Island 2019. They are now just 5-4 to go all the way as punters pile their bets on.’ said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Given the possibility that there may be a Casa Amor situation soon, these odds could change extremely quickly.

Plus, with Anton, Arabella, Lucie, Maura, Tom, Jordan, and Anna all without partners at the moment, everything could be shaken up at a moment’s notice.

You could even take a punt on a couple that haven’t yet got together if you like to live dangerously.

Catch Love Island tonight at 9pm on ITV2.

And ITV have been forced to address reports the dating show stars knew each other before stepping foot in Mallorca.

It was claimed the pair were spotted enjoying a swanky dinner together in Dubai, with an insider stating they had an evening out at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen.

But a Love Island spokesperson told Metro.co.uk this couldn’t be further from the truth.

‘Maura and Molly-Mae have never met previously to meeting in the villa,’ they said.

So that’s that then.

It was previously claimed Maura, 28, and Molly, 19, were seen grabbing a spot of dinner together in Dubai.

‘They were sitting there, all dressed up and having dinner together,’ a source reportedly told the Mirror.

‘They looked like really good mates, not like they had just met each other. The manager and waiters couldn’t take their eyes off them, they were just saying they were beyond-level fit.

‘I thought it was really bizarre they were pretending they didn’t know each other, and especially as they were love rivals, but then it all made sense to me.

‘If they knew each other and Maura was sent in to stir up trouble then it makes sense she would try and hurt Molly on TV, as it would all have been agreed.’

Molly-Mae got very close with Tommy Fury last night… (Picture: ITV2)
The pair haven’t had the easiest time of it in the villa so far, as they both fought for Tommy’s affections in a love triangle.

However, Instagram influencer Molly managed to come out on top – and had a very steamy moment with the boxer in last night’s instalment.

In fact, viewers were convinced the pair were the first couple in the villa to have sex.

They seemed to be doing a little more than kissing and cuddling under the sheets, with fans at home noticing some ‘thrusting’ movements – before the model remarked: ‘Jesus Christ.’

Indeed.

Love Island continues daily, at 9pm, on ITV2.
