BBC may have struck gold again with their Sunday night period drama.
After Poldark bowed out (until the next series), an intriguing trailer teased Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, a fantasy drama about magic in the 1800s.
The first episode, called The Friend of English Magic, saw fully-fledged Mr Norrell (a brilliant Eddie Marsan) come out of hiding while wealthy brat Jonathan Strange (Bertie Carvel) discovers he is a magician.
