George RR Martin has stuck up for his portrayal of sexual violence in Game of Thrones.
The author claimed that books without any conflict would be ‘boring’ to read and insisted he was just reflecting what would happen in a real war.
He told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Then there’s the whole issue of sexual violence, which I’ve been criticised for as well. I’m writing about war, which what almost all epic fantasy is about.
