Outdoor news reporting can be a perilous business at the best of times.
But this particular broadcaster discovered just how messy things can get when she was trying to do a spot of filming – only to be rudely interrupted by a bunch of cicadas.
Katya Leick of Kansas news channel KSNT was reporting from the Fort Reilly army base in the town of Topeka, and doing her best to broadcast while perched on top of a tank.
Until, that is, the insects swarmed over to take a look, buzzing around her and even landing on her face at one point.
