After rocking a shaggy beard for the past few months and having us all believe a Stranger Things season 4 clue was hiding in there somewhere, David Harbour has revealed a new look – and a questionable new love interest.

Stranger Things 3 ended with Hopper appearing to perish in the contained blast detonated by Joyce (played by Winona Ryder) to save Hawkins from being engulfed by The Upside Down Town.

Our hearts are still bleeding but our senses are saying the cop’s story is far from done. After the final credits rolled out of season three, we discovered a figure known only as ‘The American’ was being held captive by the USSR. That American we can assume is Hopper.

Of course we won’t know anything until season four comes at us in 2020, but Harbour’s now shaved off his beard, is sporting a ponytail and has found love with a mannequin.

Harbour shared a photo of himself on Instagram and wrote: ‘Goodbye long, scraggly, surprisingly soft, Walt Whitman beard. Adieu beige hotel room. Goodnight sweet strange mannequin I never knew what to do with in the corner of the room.

‘Farewell Alexi, you big bold bright burly hope of Russia, you complicated tortured soul, you guardian of the red.’

Naturally, fans are demanding to know WTF is going on.

‘WHAT DOES THAT MEAN’, ‘YOU’RE SO CONFUSING STOP IT RN,’ and other equally alarmed comments flooded his comments box and, sadly, it has nothing to do with Stranger Things.

The 44-year-old has just wrapped up filming Marvel’s Black Widow, which obviously we’re very excited about even if it’s not an answer to Stranger Things.

In the meantime, fans think they’ve worked out how Hopper survived the blast and their theory has legs.

Stranger Things seasons one to three are available to stream on Netflix. Season four is expected to follow in 2020.
