Charles Ingram’s episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has had a whole load of new interest after ITV dropped the brand new series Quiz.
The three-part-drama looks at the 2001 coughing scandal, seeing Charles win the jackpot and take home £1million.
But while fans are desperate for the original episode to air on the network once again, it turns out they’re in no luck as ITV revealed they won’t be changing their schedule any time soon.
A spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘There are no plans to air this episode on ITV.
‘There are rumours floating around but this isn’t the case nor in the schedule.’
It comes after viewers flocked to social media calling for the episode to be broadcast.
‘ITV are missing a trick if they don’t show the actual Who Wants To Be A Millionaire episode where Charles Ingram cheated! #quiz,’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘They need to play the original Charles Ingram episode! This is crazy!!’
And it seems many more were in agreement: ‘ITV please show the Charles Ingram episode of Who wants to be a Millionaire and the documentary that followed.’
Last night’s installment of Quiz saw Charles and his wife Diana accused of planting a member in the audience of the episode, where they would ‘cough’ strategically on a correct answer, ensuring his victory.
The couple were found guilty on one single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception and given suspended prison sentences of almost two years.
They’ve always claimed they were innocent of all cheating claims.
Speaking about the series, Charles alleged that the show offered a ‘more realistic’ portrayal of the recording compared to others that usually use the stereo sound mix which makes the coughing seem more prominent.
‘The studio sound on #Quiz Episode 2 is much more lifelike than the composite tape played in court then broadcast around the world,’ Charles wrote on Twitter.
‘Quiz offers a more realistic sound like the recorded live stereo mix that is normally cut for broadcast. Why wasn’t the stereo mix broadcast?’
Quiz concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV.
