It’s never easy when your fave colleague leaves work for pastures new. Even when you’re in a live TV environment, it can be hard to hold back those emotions, as news reader Hilary Barry recently discovered.
John Campbell was leaving TV3 news programme News 3 and, as a goodbye segment was run about his time there, his colleague struggled to hold it together.
Choking back tears, she had to ask a different newsreader to carry on the next part of the programme for her. And we got a little lump in our throats as we watched, we must admit.
TV3 is a New Zealand station and Campbell was clearly a much loved member of the team.
Barry and Campbell had been working together since the 90s so it’s pretty understandable that emotions were running high as they parted way.
