Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has revealed that she had to received unexpected medical treatment in hospital.
The professional dancer, who announced last year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy, shared pictures on her Instagram Story showing her wearing an oxygen mask.
In her captions, she wrote: ‘So last week didn’t exactly go to plan!
‘Feeling much better now and still taking it easy. But can’t thank the NHS and the care I received on respiratory unit enough!’
In a second post, she expressed gratitude towards her family and her husband Ben for being by her side.
‘Also to my family and Ben of course. Always dropping everything and spending endless hours next to my bed while I mainly slept.’

Giving a thumbs up to the camera in a third image, the 33-year-old told her fans that she was ‘feeling much better’, and thanked them for the ‘many messages’ she’s received ‘after going quiet’.
She continued: ‘Off to oncology unit today for my monthly injection (missed it last week with being poorly).
‘How is everyone? The sun is shining and I certainly can’t wait for spring.’
Amy also revealed that she had meant to attend a breast cancer fundraising event, but couldn’t make it because of the medical concern.
Sharing a picture of herself with two young girls, she said: ‘Big thank you to these girlies who yesterday raised money for breast cancer! So gutted I couldn’t be there as planned! Proud of you superstars! Over £1600 raised!’

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Amy would be returning to the dancefloor after she had to miss out on competing on last year’s series of Strictly.
The dancer will help members of the public learn routines in the reality show Dare To Dance in the second season of the four-part series.
‘I am so delighted Dare To Dance is back. When I dance, I feel like I can overcome anything,’ she said.
‘It’s something I want more people to experience, I really believe it can change your life.

‘I was never going to let my diagnosis get in the way of what I love most and I am thrilled that my wonderful dance family could step in to ensure my wonderful students blew their family and friends away with their performance.’
Fellow Strictly stars Dianne Buswell and Graziano Di Prima, as well as Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse, will also be joining her.
