They might be one of the hottest new gadgets around – but clearly hoverboards are harder to control than you might think.

As Watchdog presenter Chris Hollins discovered on Thursday night’s show when, while trailing an upcoming item about dangerous cheaper versions of the boards, he attempted to ride on one – and promptly fell off.

It all started smoothly enough as Chris brought the offending item in to the studio, declaring: ‘They’re really difficult to drive, these, because I’ve just fallen over.’

Which he did – on live TV – just seconds later, as the board went from under his feet and rolled off in to a corner,… Read the full story

Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden says he was offered Shayne Ward’s role in Coronation Street – but he turned it down.

Shayne burst onto the cobbles in August as Michelle’s cousin and Carla’s long-term friend Aidan Connor, and he went down a storm with fans of the show. But Brian claims the role very nearly went to him.

‘I did actually get asked to go and have a meeting with Coronation Street about doing a role in it but time wouldn’t let me because I was doing Who’s Doing The Dishes and I had an album coming out,’ he told The Sun.

But Brian says he decided it wasn’t for him as he couldn’t relocate to Manchester for nine months.

A Simpsons fan has taken his love of the show to new extremes in a bid to help the Australian economy.

So much so that he’s started a petition on the Change.org website to help his country out, by changing the name of the currency to ‘Dollarydoos’ – as featured in the classic ‘Bart vs Australia’ episode of the show.

The petitioner, who goes by the name of Thomas Probst, has attempted to convince folks to sign by pointing out that making such a move will only serve to increase the popularity of Australian currency.

U2, Take That, Steve Coogan, Irish actress Saoirse Ronan and punk group Slaves will all be appearing in the first episode and host Chris Evans seems rather overwhelmed.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers about series 2 of The Returned

The second series of spooky French drama The Returned is about to, er, return to Channel 4 after a two-year hiatus.

If you didn’t catch it first time around, the story is set in a small town in France where a growing number of dead people are showing up years – sometimes decades – after they passed away.

Creator Fabrice Gobert has promised ‘more action’ in the second outing of the drama, and said the characters are ‘ready to fight with the fantastic’.

But with its central mystery – ie, why are dead people back and what’s their beef? – still hanging in the air, viewers are no doubt anxious to know whether or not answers are on their way.

Everybody remembers what happened with Lost, which stuttered to an awkward and unsatisfying close after six series.

Whatever night cream Neighbours’ Libby Kennedy has been using, we need some.

After 20 years most people tend to look a less sprightly version of their younger selves. Libby Kennedy on the other hand could just be walking into Ramsay Street for the first time.

It’s been 21 years since Kym Valentine had her first outing in the famous cul-de-sac at the age of 17 in 1994. A few births, deaths, marriages, divorces, and swapped heads (remember that time she went under water as one Libby and came up as another?!), it’s like nothing has changed.

There is some kind of Neighbours paradox going on.

TFI Friday is back, baby!

Chris Evans’ show has finally been revived after all of these years, and although this is potentially the best thing EVER (totally just regressed 15 years), some people are still living in the past.

The show was its usual craziness from the good old days, with Roger Moore accepting a cuteness award on behalf of a wheelbarrow full of collie puppies, there was the slip and slide, there was a baby that looked like Bono, and Take That popped up with their new single. The audience was filled with Guinness-swilling stars like old times, with Chris Evan’s ex Billie Piper and Hollyoaks’ Jorgi Porter hanging out for a tipple or two.

Even U2 closed the show.

But die-hard… Read the full story

Well, kind of.

Since Shirley Benson’s legendary cat, Walford has been lacking a bit of feline magic – but that’s all set to change when Carmel Kazemi returns.

With her, she brings her pet Craig Revel Horwood (yes, really) and, as Dominic Treadwell-Collins explained to Metro.co.uk, this can only lead to some memorable scenes.

He said: ‘Carmel is about to come back with her cat Craig Revel Horwood as she’s a big Strictly fan and it leads to an amazing scene with Danny Dyer and Linda Henry shouting “Craig Revel Horwood!” trying to lure a cat out!’

We always said that Craig was a bit pf a pussycat at heart.

Forget the singing – the next installment of The X Factor’s six chair challenge is ALL about hopeful Anton Stephans and his sensational comeback for Simon Cowell.

In fact, he deserves to win the competition for his quick-thinking sassiness which leaves even Simon dumbfounded.

As Anton takes to the stage to try to bag himself a chair and make it through to Si’s judges’ houses, the show boss has a piece of advice for him.

‘I’m going to give you some advice though Anton,’ Simon begins. ‘You do pull weird faces when you sing.’

Cue the best comeback EVER from Anton.

‘If you’re in an environment, I think, where lots of people have Botox so your face doesn’t move, that becomes your normal. But if you’re a bit poor like me and your friends are poor and can’t afford Botox, your face kind of moves when you speak.’

TOU-CHÉ!
