Piers Morgan was reunited with his former Britain Got Talent co-judge Amanda Holden on Good Morning Britain today, and let’s just say the TV star seemed keen to make up for lost time.

The former newspaper editor was thrilled when Amanda decided to surprise he and co-host Susanna Reid by bringing mistletoe along and treating both to a Christmas kiss to promote ITV’s Text Santa appeal.

However things got pretty awkward afterwards.

It seems Piers wasn’t happy with a peck on the cheek and asked his old friend for ‘a proper one’.

Oh but there has, Robert, there has.

‘It’s a stately home,’ Vera points out. ‘There’s always been a murder.’

The BBC may be a little late to the party with a Christmas advert – but then again the first day of December does seem like a more legitimate time to get excited for the festive season.

The animated short showed the sadness of a lonely sprout who was reminded my everyone he met that he was the only think not loved about Christmas.
