In between the John Lewis and Sainsbury’s Christmas adverts you might be able to spot some pretty decent telly over the festive period.

Doctor Who makes its annual Christmas Day outing, Downton Abbey returns for the final time, and Sherlock is (finally) back with a time-travelling episode.

Meanwhile, more celebrities take to the floor for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special and Call The Midwife injects a bit of festive drama.

‘Now I can sit on your face!’ Piers Morgan just gave Lorraine Kelly a cushion with his face on it while dressed in a kilt

It was Lorraine Kelly’s birthday today so as a special presenter, Piers Morgan only went and turned up at the studio wearing a kilt.

The two began playfully flirting last week when Lorraine admitted that she found 50-year-old Piers ‘alluring’ and the journalist told her ‘That’s it, you know what, the door has opened’ so on Monday Piers decided to pop by to wish the Scottish presenter a wonderful day and present her with a gift.

Which was of course a pillow with Piers’ face on it.

‘Oh no!’ cried Lorraine as she clocked Piers’ daring wardrobe before opening the bag and declaring ‘Now I can sit on your face!’

The latest trailers for this week’s Doctor Who series 9 finale reveal all sorts of juicy tidbits, including the return of Time Lords, Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams, and did we even see Jenna Coleman back as Clara?

Phillip Schofield was replaced on This Morning by Eamonn Holmes after his brother Tim was suddenly taken ill.

The TV presenter was forced to miss his slot on Monday morning alongside co-presenter Holly Willoughby in order to be by the side of his family.

Holly announced the news at the start of the show, explaining to viewers: ‘Sadly Phil isn’t here today. His brother has been taken ill suddenly. We wish him lots of love, and we are all thinking of you.’

Hollyoaks star Charlie Wernham comes under fire for self harm tweet

Twitter can be a bit of a minefield when you’re in the limelight as Hollyoaks actor Charlie Wernham recently discovered when he posted a controversial joke which appeared to trivialise self harm.

The comedian turned soap star, who plays Robbie Roscoe in the Channel 4 drama, came under fire from his followers when he posted the joke, which read: ‘like self harming? Get yourself down to your local Specsavers with a hangover this Sunday and listen to how boring the staff are!’

The quip didn’t go down too well with those who saw it as a cruel dig at those who have suffered with self harm in their lives.

‘This is a story from the not too distant future’.

Normally, the fact that Amazon Prime are promising to deliver parcels via drones within thirty minutes of the order would be the most exciting element of a TV advert.

But Jeremy Clarkson’s delivery of the information, which is so VERY Clarkson, just made the whole thing even better.

The former Top Gear star, who is developing a new car show with Amazon Prime, was on hand to explain how Prime Air would work. And, as footage from the drone was seen, he talked affectionately of the vehicle and it was almost like we were watching Top Gear all over again.
