On Boxing Day, the BBC once again offer up a Christmas period drama based upon a book from classic English literature.

This year it’s Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, the 1939 crime novel considered Christie’s masterpiece, which stars Game Of Thrones’ Charles Dance, Poldark’s Aidan Turner, Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill, Anna Maxwell Martin, Douglas Booth and Miranda Richardson.

Thank goodness, though, they didn’t promote the three-part drama under the book’s original title, Ten Little N****rs.

Yes, Christie’s bestselling work originally had a super offensive title when Collins published the book on 6 November 1939 in the UK, but it wasn’t because she was a screaming racist.

However they have now revealed that the union lasted just eight and a half months – 34 weeks in… Read the full story

Finally the EastEnders cliffhanger question of the Christmas Day episode has been answered: Just who was in that car?

Ronnie had hired heavies to give Vincent a scare and lock him in the boot of the car in the Arches, but her plan went awry when he showed up having been now where near the mechanics.

But SOMEONE had been locked in that boot – Ronnie had heard them banging to be let out.

And things escalated quickly when Ronnie discovered the car had been sent to be crushed at the scrap yard with the person still locked in there. (Since when were scrap yards open on Christmas Day?!)

If it wasn’t… Read the full story

Bobby Beale killed Lucy in the lounge with a music box.

This we knew quite a while ago, and yet that pint-sized killer still hasn’t had his comeuppance.

Things looked like they were about to resolve themselves for a split second when the Mitchells found out who was really behind Lucy Beale’s murder and decided to do something about it.

Sharon was adamant that she was heading straight down to the cop shop, while Denny – pre devastating car accident – was hell-bent on making Bobby’s life as uncomfortable as possible.

But then Denny was thrown out of a moving car mid-accident and Sharon was convinced not to grass on the… Read the full story

Bubye Fatboy (Picture: BBC)

The EastEnders Boxing Day episode saw the demise of Fatboy come to light after he perished in the boot of a car.

In a case of mistaken identity, Fatboy was shoved into the car instead of Vincent after Ronnie Mitchell ordered some lackeys to do the deed, although Ronnie hadn’t meant for anyone to die.

But die they did, and in quite a gruesome way.

It’s not known exactly how Fatboy died as he narrowly missed the crusher, but the likelihood is suffocation or maybe cardiac arrest from fear of confined spaces. Not a nice way for a well-loved character go to.

Fans were not happy that he was the one… Read the full story

Seeing Liz Dawn back on our screens for a blink-and-you’d-miss-it cameo in Emmerdale’s Christmas special was a huge treat for soap fans who remembered her fondly for her long term role as Vera Duckworth in Coronation Street.

And, if the veteran actress has her way, it won’t be the last that we will see of Mrs Winterbottom.

In a festive episode that focused on the story of a Scrooge-like Eric Pollard, Mrs Winterbottom stressed out Amy with her demands as the sole B&B guest. And Liz enjoyed her appearance so much that she’d love to be back.

Arthur ‘Fatboy’ Chubb’s fate SEEMED pretty sealed in a grim Boxing Day episode of EastEnders which saw the jovial chap trapped in a car boot and left to die.

But, as Kathy Beale and Den Watts may attest to, death doesn’t have to spell the end in Walford. Many fans are predicting – and hoping – for a reprieve for the lovable DJ and reckon that scriptwriters are bluffing us.

So could Fatboy actually be alive?

Given that we never saw his death – or his corpse – it certainly isn’t impossible.
