Seann Walsh has spoken admitted his behaviour towards ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries was ‘abusive’, after he cheated on her with Katya Jones last year.

The comedian made headlines after publicly kissing his Strictly Come Dancing partner in October, despite being in a relationship with the actress at the time.

Rebecca later publicly dumped him in a now-infamous statement on her Twitter page, accusing the 33-year-old of constantly lying and gaslighting her throughout their five-year romance.

And, in a candid appearance on the Jonathan Ross show four months after the scandal, he confessed he hopes she can ‘forgive’ him at some point.

‘I think that when I first saw that statement it was so huge and you go through a mixture of emotions and I didn’t really know how to react. But I think with the time that I’ve had, that actually she is right, I think everything she said in that statement is right,’ he told the host.

‘At first it’s denial, initially you look at that and you go, “No absolutely not.” But with time, someone that you cared about has written that about you and posted that and I think that actually, yes she was right what she said.

‘And I think if you lie and cheat on the person that you’re meant to care for and be in a relationship with, then that is a form of abuse, of course it is. All I can be is as sorry as I am. I hope one day that she’ll forgive me.’

Seann also admitted he’s grateful to Rebecca for ending their relationship so publicly – following his kiss with Katya – as it gave him an opportunity to change himself.

‘Obviously I was stupid and I was selfish and I was hurtful to someone that I cared about and someone that I respected, and I still care about and still respect. I will always be sorry about what I did,’ he continued.

‘I think when it all blew up, I don’t think I reacted in the correct manner. I didn’t know what to do, it was huge. It has been some time since then, I have had a lot of time to look at my actions, look at my behaviour and take responsibility as well.

‘I think when you have gone through something like that, you end up thinking in clichés, like “If I could go back in time, I’d behave differently and treat her differently” but unfortunately all I can be is as sorry as I am and as regretful as I am.

‘The thing is, especially with how public it was, if you behave the way I did privately, that is inexcusable enough but for it to go so public, that was all my fault.’

Seann speaks about the scandal in detail during his new comedy show, but has decided to leave his ex out of this, instead focusing on the second the pictures of himself and Katya emerged, to the following week.

And he also references what happened on his tour, admitting he couldn’t not discuss the Strictly-shaped elephant in the room.

‘It would be strange if I went on stage during the tour and I just ended up talking about microwaves for an hour. You have to acknowledge it,’ he added.

Seann and Katya were pictured passionately kissing in the middle of the road, following a boozy night out.

They both apologised at the time, vowing it was nothing more than a drunken mistake.

Soon after, Rebecca shared a message on her Twitter account about the scandal, refusing to be seen as a victim in what happened – something she was widely applauded for.

‘Hello there, my name is Rebecca Humphries and I am not a victim,’ she began. ‘I wasn’t sure whether to respond to events from the past week, but I feel the narrative has missed a couple of crucial elements that I would like to clear up.

‘It’s incredibly good of Sean(n) and Katya to apologise in the media. I have received nothing, other than the support of my family, friends and a host of strangers on the internet who all wanted to make sure I was OK.

Addressing the photos in question, she continued: ‘Those pictures were taken on October 3rd. It was my birthday. I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink.

‘We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on.

‘He aggressively, and repeatedly, called me a psycho/nuts/mental. As he has done countless times throughout our relationship when I’ve questioned his inappropriate, hurtful behaviour.’

Rebecca went on to explain the ordeal has reminded her that she is a ‘strong, capable person’, and not a victim, ending the post by revealing she had decided to take ownership of their cat.

Woman ‘spending thousands’ to be cryogenically frozen with her pet – but dog has other ideas

A woman who’s ‘spending thousands’ on cryogenically freezing herself and her dog joined Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on Friday’s This Morning.

Debbie Fleming appeared on the show alongside her pet Sherry and explained how she intends to preserve her body just like her dad has, in the hope they’ll all be reunited in years to come.

The 55-year-old, who was interviewed via a live link from Orlando in Florida, is hopeful that it’ll work, saying: ‘I would say that 100 years ago, we weren’t even thinking of transplanting hearts and now look, we’re transplanting hearts, cloning, so who knows what’s going to happen a couple of hundred years from now.’

Predicting what the world will be like, Debbie added: ‘It’s definitely going to be different.

Sherry couldn’t sit still (Picture: ITV)

‘I don’t spend a whole lot of time thinking about it, but it would be nice. It’s a nice concept to come back, so why not?’

But her little corgi Sherry didn’t seem to keen to take the plunge and jumped off Debbie’s lap when she began talking about nanotechnology.

Viewers had a lot to say about Debbie’s plans to freeze her dog (Picture: Twitter)

Viewers had a lot to say on Twitter after the canine made a sudden break for escape, writing: ‘The dog doesn’t want to be with her now never mind frozen with her for all eternity.’

‘Dog has just cottoned on and is making a break for it. She’s going to be on her porch this evening calling for Sherry to come home,’ joked another.

This isn’t the first time This Morning has hosted a guest who plans on being cryogenically frozen.

Back in 2017, dad Dennis Kowalski signed his whole family up to be frozen when they die in the hope they can be brought back to life in the future.

This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10.30am on ITV.

Jordyn Woods is giving her side of the Tristan Thompson cheating scandal for the first time on Red Table Talks (Picture: Getty)

If you hadn’t heard, Jordyn Woods is giving her first interview since the Tristan Thompson cheating scandal today.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook chat show Red Table Talk is the platform she has chosen to air her dirty laundry in public, and it’s safe to say the world, his wife and the Kardashians will be glued to their screens.

The reality-TV-loving world was sent into meltdown last month when it emerged that Jordyn Woods had allegedly kissed Tristan Thompson behind his girlfriend Khloe Kardashian’s back.

Jordyn – famous for her appearances alongside BFF Kylie Jenner on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, as well as for being a model – was reported to have been seen getting close to Tristan at a house party.

Before we knew it, Khloe and Tristan – who have a baby girl together – were over and every single member of the Kardashian clan had unfollowed her on social media.

This is the first Jordyn has given her side of the story.

How to watch Jordyn Woods’ Red Table Talk in the UK

As Red Table Talk is a Facebook show, you won’t be able to catch it on your regular TV.

However, your luck is in as you can watch it wherever you are on Facebook.

The highly-anticipated interview will be live-streamed today, Friday 1 March, on the official Red Table Talk Facebook page.

A time has not been confirmed so you’ll just have to keep checking the channel throughout the day.

What is Red Table Talk?

Red Table Talks is a Facebook interview series run by actress and musician Jada Pinkett Smith.

The show has been praised for looking into topics that may be considered controversial, including Jada talking to her own family about subjects like sex.

Other guests to grace the show since it kicked off in May 2018 have included Gabrielle Union, Ellen Pompeo, and Toni Braxton.

It’s likely Jordyn choose Red Table Talk for her first interview as she is a family friend of Jada and husband Will Smith.

Jordyn’s mum Elizabeth Woods has known Jada and Will for a long time, to the point where Jordyn even calls Will her uncle.

Jeremy Clarkson has shared an emotional tribute after a Top Gear fan died, following a battle with Leukaemia.

Alex Mills – who ran the biggest fan forum to the show, FinalGear – passed away on 27 February, surrounded by his family.

And the Grand Tour star was one of the first to pay their respects to the late web developer, crediting him with some of the show’s successes.

In a message shared on his Twitter page, the 58-year-old said: ‘I hear Viper007Bond has died of leukaemia. My condolences to his family.

‘He was important to the success of Top Gear. I listened to him.’

Following Jeremy’s post, many of his 7.12million followers also shared their condolences.

‘Rest in peace Alex. Final Gear was and still is to this date, very important to me,’ one responded.

A Twitter user said: ‘Man, this is such sad news. FinalGear introduced me to Top Gear. May he rest in peace.’

‘Viper was responsible for a community of gear heads who will continue to meet, around the globe. He’s left a hell of a legacy,’ a fan added.

James May and Richard Hammond are yet to speak out over the news.

Alex’s family confirmed his passing in a post on his blog, which was linked to the FinalGear forums.

‘Alex was with his family when he passed peacefully earlier today, Wednesday, February 27th,’ it read.

‘We would like to thank everyone across the globe for their love and support. It meant a lot to us and Alex to hear from so many people. He really enjoyed reading all of the comments, letters, and cards.

‘We’re so grateful for the time we had with him. He will be missed.’

Idris Elba’s Turn Up Charlie trailer has arrived and we’re already living for that Craig David cameo

Netflix have finally unleashed the trailer for Idris Elba’s Turn Up Charlie and we already living for Craig David and Violet from Coyote Ugly.

The new eight-part comedy is quite the stretch for Idris. While in real life the 46-year-old is spinning discs at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, Charlie is a struggling DJ who turns to his celebrity best mate Gabby for some work – as her nanny.

The two minute trailer sees Charlie get off to a bad start when he starts mingling with Gabby’s celebrity pals, with What’s Your Flava hero Craig David literally walking away after learning of Charlie’s new gig as a ‘manny’.

Our Sundays are sorted already – thanks Netflix.

Idris’s latest venture was created and produced by the real-life superstar DJ and also stars Piper Perabo as the imaginatively named DJ Sara, as well as Angela Griffin, Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Jade Anouka, Cameron King and Dustin Demri-Burn.

As for everyone’s favourite Bond who never played Bond, the coolest man on TV casually revealed how he landed the biggest wedding DJ gig of the year for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

‘So Harry and I have hung out a couple of times through his dad’s charity – The Prince’s Trust – and he really helped me out when I was a young actor so I work with them a lot,’ he told Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her show this week.

‘Harry came to a couple of parties that I DJed and he was like, “What are you doing on [May 19]” and I told him nothing and then he asked if I would DJ at his wedding.’

No biggie then.

And from one honour to the next, Idris will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time next week to promote Turn Up Charlie.

Idris’ SNL gig adds to his already-stacked 2019, which has already included the release of a collaborative single with the likes of Wiley, Sean Paul and Stefflon Don, he’ll be starring alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in Hobbs & Shaw, and he kicked off the year with the highly-anticipated return of Luther.

Oh, and he’s currently filming Cats, starring as Macavity.

Turn Up Charlie will be available to stream on Netflix from March 15.

Samuel L. Jackson says he is not in Avengers: Endgame (Picture:  Rex Features)

Samuel Jackson insists that he is not in Avengers: Endgame following his appearance in the post-credit scenes of Infinity War.

The 70-year-old – who has played Nick Fury in over 10 Marvel films said on The Jonathan Ross Show that he would not be in Avengers 4 despite some very recent ‘hints’ that he would be.

Almost forgetting the title of the movie he asked: ‘What’s the name of that? End Game?’

‘No [I’m not in it.] No, why would I be? I don’t have any superpowers , I can’t fight battles. No, I’m not in it,’ he added when probed.

He may be insisting that he is not in the upcoming superhero sequel but there is no denying his ever-present role in the franchise while Captain Marvel gears up for cinematic release later this month.

The movie also stars Brie Larson, Gemma Chan and Jude Law.

He is definitely in Captain Marvel though (Picture: Rex Features)

As we see Nick younger in life and, quite jarringly, without his trademark eye patch, Samuel described him to Metro.co.uk as ‘kinder, gentler, not the smartest kid in the room.’

Speaking at the film’s premiere on Wednesday in London, he added that he’s ‘not paranoid, not hard-bitten, a kind of more easy-going Nick Fury, who meets his first inter-terrestrial person and goes to space for the first time.’

All in all, it sounds like a pretty wild ride.

As for Avengers: Endgame, the star kept majorly tight-lipped, proudly revealing: ‘I keep secrets, I’m really good at keeping secrets.’

However, The Glass actor was previously suspected to have slipped up when he hinted that he might not be in the movie after his character turned to dust in Infinity War.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, the actor was asked if he’d read the script for the movie, while he joked he only reads the scripts he’s in.

‘Not Avengers: Endgame, no. I generally read the scripts I’m in. I don’t just go to my part,’ he said.

However, he’s now denied everything, especially at the London premiere when speaking to Metro.co.uk

‘I didn’t hear any of that! I didn’t say anything. I just said “I don’t know,”‘ he grinned at us before explaining: ‘That’s the answer we’re instructed to give.’

Captain Marvel is out 8 March

Rick and Morty solution saves dead Avengers in Endgame?

$

Rick and Morty
This Rick and Morty theory could save all our favourite Marvel heroes (Picture: Adult Swim)

A Rick and Morty fan believes the Avengers could defeat Thanos by jumping into an alternate universe – which could also reverse the deaths in The Decimation in time for Endgame.

Wait for it…

They’re convinced that the Marvel heroes can travel to another reality, just like the cartoon characters did to avoid the Cronenberg disaster, in order to revive the likes of Spider-Man, Falcon, Black Panther, Winter Solider and others.

The survivors would then be able to join forces with the previously deceased characters, who would remian dead in the main Marvel Universe, and the new universe would be populated by OGs and alternate versions of the slayed heroes.

The wild theory means T’Challa aka Black Panther might live on (Picture: Rex)

Taking to Reddit, the user wrote: ‘What if, in order to defeat Thanos, the surviving Avengers have to abandon their universe and relocate to one in which their alternative selves died as a result of The Snap, similar to how Rick and Morty abandon their Earth (i.e. the one they “Cronenberged”) and relocate to another in the first season of that show?

‘This wouldn’t necessarily have to be the only reason they defeat Thanos, but it could be an interesting wrinkle, especially if it requires personal sacrifice on the part of said Avengers (for instance, moving to another universe somehow prevents Tony from having a kid).

‘And it would mean that the deaths we saw in Infinity War are technically permanent (in a way).’

Users were divided over the theory, with one agreeing: ‘100 percent agree this would be awesome I thought the same thing when I watched that episode. It makes it sad and fucked up still but can continue forward.’

However, others weren’t convinced, explaining: ‘The Avengers save the day, that’s who they are. They don’t get to abandon their universe because they found a better one.’

Despite this wild theory, Rick and Morty and Marvel will crossover in 2020, kinda.

It’s been revealed that the new Loki TV series will be helmed by the cartoon’s screenwriter Michael Waldron.

Despite there not being an official release date, Rick and Morty season four is expected to drop later this year and will be airing for the first time on Channel 4.

Show creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon previously revealed how 70 more episodes of the show have been given the green light – though it’s unclear how many seasons that will span.

Rick and Morty is still just about available to stream on Netflix but will be moving to its new home on Channel 4 soon.

What is Red Table Talk, what time does it air on Facebook and who are the hosts?

Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith
Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith (Picture: Overbrook Entertainment)

Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Facebook TV series Red Table Talk has had quite the unexpected advertising campaign thanks to the Kardashians.

It’s not because she’s managed to tempt them away from appearing on Ellen DeGeneres for her show, but instead because she’s getting the first interview with Jordyn Woods, their arch-nemesis.

Jordyn is accused of snogging Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend and baby daddy Tristan Thompson, and she was immediately culled from the family’s circle with unfollows on social media and sly digs, such as Kylie slashing the price of her lipsticks named after former BFF Jordyn. Ouch.

Now she’s ready to talk, but for those of you unfamiliar with Red Table Talk, let us tell you more…

What is Red Table Talk?

Red Table Talk is an American web television chat show which launched in May 2018. It exclusively airs on Facebook.

It’s just like a standard chat show – and features a circular red table where the show’s guests are grilled – but it only streams online.

Jada Pinkett Smith on red table talk

The hosts are Jada Pinkett Smith, 47, Willow Smith, 18, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, 65, who is Jada’s mother.

It is billed as a forum exploring the perspectives of three different generations.

What time does Red Table Talk air?

Episodes of Red Table Talk don’t have a set streaming time but the show does give fans a heads-up when it comes to what date they are dropping episodes.

It’s basically a case of keeping your eyes on the Facebook channel all day long until the video pops up.

Who has appeared on previous Red Table Talk episodes

Its very first episode aired on May 7 2018 on Facebook Watch and episodes have been airing ever since.

Celebrity guests that have appeared in the past include: Gabrielle Union, Sheree Fletcher, Jaden Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Will Smith, Leah Remini, Toni Braxton, Kid Cudi and Don Lemon.

Arrested Development season 5 trailer is suitably obscene and we’re forever grateful

Arrested Development has dropped it’s latest trailer (Picture: Netflix)

Arrested Development have finally dropped the trailer for its upcoming backend to season five – and yes, it’s as crazy as we expected.

Netflix confirmed earlier this month that the second part would be streaming from 15 March with a further eight episodes, and it looks like there’ll be ‘one murder and no masterminds.’

Gob (Will Arnett) kicks off the clip with a brand new magic trick accompanied by his brother Buster Bluth, played by Drag Race guest judge Tony Hale, who loses his prosthetic hand to a lift within the first 10 seconds, of course.

‘Lives will be lost, relationships will be tested, fake businesses will be sold, secrets will be revealed,’ it hints. ‘But it’s not over ’til we say it’s over.’

The teaser also gave some hints about missing character Lucille Two, played by Liza Minelli, who disappeared earlier in the season.

Buster, who is now ‘unwanted,’ is seen tossing a body bag off a cliff just moments after his family welcome him home from jail.

Could it be Lucille Two?

Elsewhere, Tobias played by David Cross, gets out his Mrs Featherbottom costume once again and Michael (Jason Bateman) brings up the age-old banana stand.

Fans were over the moon to say their favourite dysfunctional back in action, writing on Twitter: ‘Looks great! I’m pumped’ and ‘Netflix. U just made my banana stand.’

Arrested Development season 5 part 2 arrives to 15 March on Netflix.

Brie Larson was left stunned when she realised that Jonathan Ross had a cameo in Spice World.

Ross played, well…himself, in the 1997 movie starring the Spice Girls, and mentioned this fun fact in his interview with the Captain Marvel star.

Brie said: ‘I’m kind of starstruck now honestly. I was like, you seem so familiar to me and that’s because I’ve watched you one hundred times.’

We’ve seen Spice World a fair few times ourselves so we can totally relate, Brie.

In the film he interviewed the Spice Girls after they announced they would be performing at the Royal Albert Hall for the first time.

He quizzes the girls on how many countries their performance will be broadcast too, and the band answers: ‘Millions. Maybe even more.’

The talk show host got to try his hand at comedy as well, as he gets his countries wrong when the girls start speaking in different languages. Jonathan also jokes that he ‘doesn’t have the faintest idea’ when Mel B and Sporty Spice give a shout out to northerners.

In the interview Brie admits that she didn’t tell anyone when she landed the major Marvel role, saying everyone she knew only found out at the Comic Con reveal.

She says: ‘You have to keep it secret. I’m most excited for this movie to come out so now I can finally go to sleep knowing I didn’t spoil it… Everyone found out the same time the press found out, when I walked on the stage at Comic Con.

‘It was a relief more than anything else [to reveal it] and it was exciting.

‘It was cool to be able to do it in front of an audience. I can say now that it was positive and they didn’t throw tomatoes at me.

‘You just don’t know [what the reaction will be], you have no idea. When you go on stage and present yourself to a room full of people, it’s all of them and then me. Who knows, there could have been a major uproar.’

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday 9.35pm on ITV

Shadow Moon and Mr Wednesday are off on an adventure (Picture: Starz)

If you were getting withdrawal symptoms, you can breathe a sigh of relief: American Gods 2 finally has a release date.

After a two-year absence from Amazon Prime, the hit TV series is hurtling back onto TV screens in 2019.

It won’t be long before you’re reunited on your sofas with Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) and Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane) in the Neil Gaiman drama.

So when is American Gods season 2 released?

Clear your diaries on Sunday 10 March, as that’s the day American Gods 2 has been given as its release date.

While it airs on Starz in the US, Amazon Prime Video has the rights to the show on this side of the pond.

Amazon Prime American Gods

What’s different with the second series?

Since season one, things are looking slightly different behind the scenes on American Gods.

Original showrunners Michael Green and Bryan Fuller leaving over budget issues and their replacement, Jesse Alexander, being ‘sidelined’ after production was delayed. This happened despite the fact they had written a large chunk of season two.

Their departure was followed by Gillian Anderson, who played Media, a key role in the show. She’s been replaced by Kahyun Kim, who’s taking on the role as New Media.

Starz has teased the second installment, saying: ‘A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice.’

Is there a trailer?

A trailer was released in January this year. It won’t be long until we get to see the real thing…

In fact, Whittle has even teased the possibility of a season three of the fantasy show. Too excited.

American Gods will land on Netflix on Sunday 10 March.

The Big Bang Theory has been compared to Friends time and time again over its 12 year history, like most sitcoms are.

With the show’s end date right around the corner and with the finale episode beginning to emerge, we decided to ask one of the show’s executive producers, Eric Kaplan, about the similarities – and he said The Rockford Files is a much closer bet.

The Rockford Files was an American police drama which followed the adventures of ex-con and private detective Jim Rockford, played by James Garner, first airing back in 1974.

‘In my mind, The Big Bang Theory is almost like the show called The Rockford Files,’ Eric exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘They’re all friends and they’re all sorts of underdogs and they’re making it in the world and they love each other.

‘I think The Big Bang Theory is much closer in spirit to The Rockford Files than to Friends, although, I’m no expert on Friends.

‘Our guys don’t solve crimes, that’s the big difference. We have less of the procedural aspect.’

The Big Bang Theory has been compared to The Rockford Files (Picture: NBC)

Discussing why The Big Bang Theory has probably been likened to Friends so much, Eric explained: ‘Sitcoms are plays, they’re filmed plays, so a multi-cam sitcom has to have a home base, or one or two home bases, because number one that’s how it’s shot and number two, that’s how it comes to be something that provides some source of comfort and orientation for the audience.

‘When you turn on the show, Sheldon and Leonard are in their normal place, they’re not in some strange place.

‘And when we turn it on and they’re in a normal place, people are like “okay, I get it.” It functions well if it orients us a little bit.’

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS.

Do the Game Of Thrones final season posters reveal the outcome of Cleganebowl?

The Mountain’s absence in new Game Of Thrones posters for the final season has raised some eyebrows (Picture: HBO)

The new posters for the final season of Game Of Thrones has left some fans scratching their heads.

HBO stepped the season eight excitement up a gear by unveiling slick looking posters depicting each remaining character looking moody on the Iron Throne.

Arya, Sansa, Cersei, Jon, the Night King, Tyrion, Daenerys and Brienne are just some of the characters who get a spin on the famous, dangerous chair. Even Jorah and Sam get their own posters.

But there’s one face notably missing from the line up – Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain.

His equally fearsome brother Sandor, The Hound, is pictured on the Iron Thrones, but his bro isn’t present.

Could this be a clue to the outcome of Cleganebowl, the supposed showdown between Sandor and Gregor that fans have been calling for?

Picture: HBO Game Of Thrones season 8 posters
The Hound gets a season eight poster showing him on the Iron Throne (Picture: HBO)

If The Mountain isn’t shown on the Iron Throne, is that because he won’t get a shot because he’s been killed by his own brother? We wouldn’t put anything past this show.

Hafthor Bjornsson, who plays The Mountain, recently revealed that he was given a stunt double for the first time in the final season.

The actor’s ‘tall and big’ double could be a stand in for a fight scene involving The Mountain that is so epic, the incredibly strong Bjornsson wasn’t allowed to do it himself.

‘All the seasons prior to this season that we just finished filming. I never had stunt doubles. I always did everything myself,’ he said.

Hafthor added that season eight was a much more punishing shoot than the ones before it.

Teasing what fans can expect, he explained to Mashable: ‘Viewers can definitely expect an amazing season. ‘I obviously know just a little bit, I don’t know what’s gonna happen in everything, you know I only play a small role, you know, but I’m at least super excited to see the season and it was certainly the most hardest season I’ve filmed for Game Of Thrones.’

Dirty John: Horrifying things John Meehan did on the show that actually happened in real life

John Meehan has been brought back to life with the Netflix series on the horror of his crimes (Picture: Netflix)

Dirty John has gripped everyone over the past month as Eric Bana retells the bitter true story of a psychopath that prayed on women in order to extort money for a secret drug habit.

While most who have watched the series know that it was based on a true story, the new documentary Dirty John: The Dirty Truth reveals that some of the most elaborate scenes weren’t added in for dramatic effect – they were 100% real.

Here are just some of the scenes the show went out of its way to get right – including the moments that were pulled straight out of the real-life horror story.

Tonia was happily married to John from 1988 to 1997, when the truth came out (Picture: Netflix)

Tonia’s death threat phone call was word-for-word

John’s first wife Tonia got a raw end of the deal when after nearly a decade of marriage she realised she had no idea who her husband really was.

When they got divorced and John got disbarred, he immediately blamed Tonia, and despite the pair having two daughters together, his chilling phone call threatening to kill her for dobbing him in didn’t come from the show creators.

In the Dirty Truth, a recording of the original phone call plays, in which he tells her: ‘You know why I have this big smile on my face? Because trust me, just trust me, that’s why. You’ll understand when it happens. You’ll understand it all.

‘I won’t be anywhere near. I’ll be in Bermuda or wherever having a drink with a 22-year-old, smiling like I am right now.’

He then chillingly warns: ‘You should enjoy your time left Tonia, your time left on this Earth, that’s what it’s going to come down to. Just, when it happens, when you see it in your eyes and you know, promise you’ll remember it was me.’

On the series, the chilling threat was recreated word-for-word (Picture: Netflix)

He was a drug addict for decades and his wives and girlfriends never noticed

Until John Meehan revealed himself to be a drug addict through his behaviours, it was revealed that first wife Tonia was absolutely clueless to his double life throughout the entirety of their marriage.

It wasn’t until she phoned his mother (another scene that is recounted as it’s told in the series) that she discovered the level of his deception, hidden on a shelf in their shared closet.

Naturally, she made a run for it, but until she could prove it and have him arrested, she still had to share visitation to their children with him.

Julia Bowman was working on an investigation against John when he put a hit out on her (Picture: Netflix)

John put a hit out on a female cop

In Dirty Truth, Detective Julia Bowman revealed the horrific moment she discovered that John Meehan had actually put a hit out on her while she was investigating him.

Police uncovered that he had offered $10,000 for whoever could find her and kill her while he was serving two years in prison for possession of a firearm.

As a result she had people following her and her boyfriend home, and she was forced to having firearms around the house.

John Meehan tricked dozens of women to help feed his secret habits (Picture: Netflix)

She told the camera: ‘I started having these vivid dreams that John Meehan was outside of my house, that he was coming to kill me.

‘John was that case that would always haunt me and was never going to go away – so at that moment I knew, that he wasn’t staying in jail, and this wasn’t over.’

During the investigation that caused him to end up in jail, Bowman uncovered his ‘Breaking Bad’ style bunker full of drugs, and an office with a fridge containing a murder kit of cyanide, bullets and a revolver.

Terra had to fight for her life and stabbed him in the eye (Picture: Netflix)

Terra actually stabbed John through the eye

In the horrific attack that finally ended John’s reign of terror against the family, John cornered Debra’s youngest daughter Terra in the middle of a parking lot, brandishing a tire iron and a knife.

Immediately coming on the attack, the tackle that followed saw Terra overpowered by him and pinned to the ground, before a chance shot meant that his knife fell onto the floor next to her.

She managed to grab it and stabbed him 13 times – with the fatal one being the wound that went through John’s eye and into his brain.

Praising her, John’s first wife Tonia said that it was ‘poetic justice’ that he was finally killed by the young teen.

‘I am not a victim, I’m a survivor,’ Terra tells the camera. ‘I believe that John would’ve killed again. I believe he would’ve done anything to anyone.’

Dirty John: The Dirty Truth is available now on Netflix.

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight on reaching a ‘different level’ with series 5 and Tommy Shelby’s political future

Peaky Blinders has a bright future ahead (Picture: BBC)

Peaky Blinders returns for a fifth series with a number of changes, including cast additions, political upheaval and a shift to BBC One.

Created and written by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders has ascended to popularity like few shows before it. Originally launching on BBC Two in 2013 to a modest reception, Peaky has become a global hit over the span of four series, with the latest its biggest and, arguably, best yet.

In a somewhat belated move, the show is shifting slots to BBC One for its upcoming fifth series, with Steven Knight believing it’s the right time for Peaky to go peak.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Knight said: ‘Peaky has had a very odd life because a lot of series tend to start tailing off after a while. But Peaky is just getting stronger and stronger, and people are finding it all over the world.

Picture: Peaky Blinders First look at Helen McCrory in Peaky Blinders
Helen McCrory is back as a very different Polly (Picture: BBC)

‘Peaky is something people have found themselves. It’s never been given a huge push. People have discovered it and feel they are part of it; they’re opening up bars, having haircuts and dressing up which is great. And I think in the end, BBC Two is fantastic, but the time had come for it to possibly be offered to a bigger audience.’

The next series is set to be released at an unconfirmed date this year, with Knight promising the best is yet to come after watching the first two episodes at a private screening.

‘I saw the first two episodes cut together the day before yesterday and it’s so good,’ Knight says. ‘It’s just a different level again. I think we know we’ve got something really special.’

Series five picks up after Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) is elected MP of Birmingham South, giving a new dynamic to the gang leader’s power off the streets and into the political system.

The new episodes are also catching up with major historical events, kicking off with the Wall Street Crash in 1929 and the beginning of the Great Depression which hung over western civilisation for 12 years.

This major economic slump contributed to the rise of fascism throughout Europe in the 1930s, with Knight teasing how Tommy Shelby could encounter some dark individuals in these political circles – including newcomer Sam Claflin as leader of the British Union of Fascists, Oswald Mosley.

‘Tommy’s a politician so he bumps against some of the dark forces that were around politically at that time,’ Knight says.

Sam Claflin is set to play Oswald Mosley (Picture: BBC)

‘Europe is changing, things are happening, and we wanted to put Tommy at the heart of that which was just beginning at the start of the 30s.

‘The thing with Peaky it changes and it stays the same, the elementals I don’t mess with. It’s in Birmingham, they’re gangsters, they do what they do, nothing is going to change them.

‘They will be redeemed at some point, but that’s who they are, that’s what they do. And for Tommy becoming an MP is just another way of attaining and exercising power, and he does it in the same way Tommy always has.’

One of the biggest challenges facing series five is the absence of Tom Hardy, whose dynamic character Alfie Solomons was killed off in a dramatic showdown on the beach with Tommy.

Actor Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby) previously expressed how Hardy didn’t want to leave the show, with debates happening behind-the-scenes over whether the character should be killed. When asked about Hardy’s reaction to leaving, Knight is particularly brief with his words: ‘He loves the character, let me put it that way.’

Tom Hardy was hesitant to leave the show (Picture: BBC)

The exhausting slew of newcomers alongside Claflin hopes to fill the void, with Anya Taylor-Joy, former Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, Brian Gleeson, Neil Maskell, Kate Dickie, Cosmo Jarvis, Elliot Cowan, Charlene McKenna, Andrew Koji and Daryl McCormack all joining for series five.

While the series is prepping for its biggest outing yet, Knight is looking at the endgame – writing the sixth series, with the seventh looking to be the last for Tommy’s journey.

‘My favourite past time is to write Peaky,’ Knight says. ‘I’ve always had the destination in mind to take up to the first air raid in Birmingham of the Second World War and that’s what I’m going to do.

‘It’ll take another two series to get there so that’s another twelve hours of Peaky.’

Tommy Shelby’s story is coming to an end in series seven (Picture: BBC)

With swirling rumours of movies and musicals, Knight isn’t so convinced it’ll be the last we’ll see of Peaky Blinders as a franchise.

‘It will be the end of that story,’ Knight says. ‘But the response to Peaky, it’s such a global phenomenon now.

‘I would have problems walking away from it totally, so we’ll see.’

Peaky Blinders series five kicks off on BBC One in 2019.

Jessica Jones may be leaving Netflix, but thankfully she’ll be getting a new lease of life once season three has ended with a new audio series.

The character has been chosen as one of four Marvel characters who will be given their own separate adventures in a new series from recording company Serial box.

Thor, Black Panther and Black Widow will also be given their own interpretation series which will work separately from the MCU and the comic books, but aim to bridge the gap between them for movie fans to be introduced to the comic book world.

Alex de Campi, the series editor and showrunner, has confirmed Black Widow will reunite with Winter Soldier while Loki will be dropping by to cause more havoc for Thor.

Lead Thor writer Aaron Stewart-Ahn has also confirmed the news and wrote on Twitter: ‘I can’t say much but if you look at this writing team and their body of work you’ll see how totally cosmic this Thor story and the characters are going to be.’

‘We had a writers’ room with so much varied life experience and points of view so it was like freaking Nidavellir,’ he added.

However, we might be in for a bit of a wait as no release date has been confirmed so far.

We still have season three to look forward to though, as the final Netflix installment from the Marvel team before it’s removed from the series for good.

It’s been announced that all remaining Marvel titles have been axed from Netflix, with The Defenders, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil all being chopped.

The Punisher and Jessica Jones were the last to go.

In the meantime, we already know this series is going to get darker than ever, especially considering Kilgrave is still making an appearance in her life.

Jessica Jones season 1 and 2 is available now on Netflix.

From Shangela shade to Drag Race’s controversial double crowning: Trixie Mattel kicks off her heels to spill all

RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Trixie Mattel has unleashed her honest opinions about the reality show during her Skinny Legend UK tour – including Trinity The Tuck and Monet X Change’s double crowning and beating Shangela to the top spot last year.

As well as advising other queens to avoid death threats by not reading the comments, the All Stars season three winner has confessed she really isn’t bothered about who’s triumphant anymore and exclusively told Metro.co.uk why.

‘Listen, I won for now. I don’t care who wins next, Trixie admitted. ‘I got my money and I got the fuck out.

‘I was surprised that they [Monet X Change and Trinity The Tuck] both won. I’m surprised they both won money, because when I was on Drag Race, they did a tie with me and Kennedy [Davenport] and they told us we’d each get £50,000. So now they’re getting real financially fierce.’

Trixie Mattel would’ve voted for Shangela on All Stars season three (Picture: Austin Young)

When Trixie, who’s real name is Brian Firkus, won All Stars in January 2018, all hell broke loose, with many including RuPaul himself hinting that she shouldn’t have won.

‘It really didn’t affect me whatsoever,’ Trixie confessed. ‘I didn’t even notice. It did not affect me. Do you think I give a fuck?

‘There’s no smoking gun in my hand because if you watch the episode… it’s more about how come all these people didn’t vote for her, it’s more about them.’

But given the chance, Trixie says she would’ve voted for Shangela, saying: ‘I didn’t have a vote, but if I had had a vote, I would have voted for her. I would’ve voted for me and her.’

As well as All Stars season three airing last year, Drag Race fans were also treated to the main show’s 10th season and a Christmas special, with season 11 premiering on Friday.

While it might seem like RuPaul overkill, Trixie is adamant that people are still hungry for it, telling Metro.co.uk: ‘The more they make, the more we watch. If you build it people will come.

‘Until it stops losing money, nobody’s going to stop making it. There was originally only 150 Pokemon, and then when they made more people were like “I don’t pay attention to the new ones” but obviously they do.

‘The people who are critical of it are the people who’re going to watch it either way. “They make too many of them,” really? You’re going to watch it.’

Trixie is currently touring the UK with her one woman show, combining music and comedy in a way that only Trixie could hot glue together, with dates in Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester.

‘I just put on wigs and tell jokes,’ she straight-talked. ‘I don’t care if the building falls down around me I’m not going to pay attention to it. It’s not my job.’

Trixie Mattel’s Skinny Legend tour runs until 9 March and tickets are available to buy here.

Nadia Sawlaha let Loose Women viewers in on her smear test today after discovering she was one year overdue.

The 54-year-oild filmed her appointment and talked viewers through the entire procedure to assure there’s absolutely nothing to fear when it comes to the smear.

Pulling faces from her GPs bed, the former EastEnders star recorded her cervical screening, reassuringly cool, calm and collected.

So I’ve just arrived for my smear, I’m ten mins early actually. And my daughters were asking if I was nervous, I’m not nervous at all!

‘I just want to get it done, worry gone! Big fat tick, done. Here I am with Dr Phillipa. Isn’t she lovely? I’m really excited to get this out the way.’

Nadia also explained how fans who have been through the menopause need fresh cervical examinations once every five years, which actually came as news to her.

‘I thought I was two years late but I’m one year late,’ she grinned, before gearing up for her smear. ‘Yes [I’ve emptied my bladder], let’s do it kids!’

‘Have you done it? Is that it?’ Nadia gasped. ‘How easy it is! It just takes seconds! I got my tests and I’m clear. It’s that worry, just get it done get it out the way.’

Nadia’s diary was part of Loose Women’s #FaceYourSmear campaign, urging women to stay on top of their screenings.

A 2018 survey revealed that a third of British women avoid smear tests because they’re ashamed of their bodies and in some cases the appearance of their vagina.

If you have any more queries about what actually happens during a smear test, Metro.co.uk have prepared a detailed guide of what to expect and how to prepare for one to put you at ease.

Netflix documentary Behind The Curve follows a community that staunchly believes the Earth is flat.

Featured in the doc are prominent Flat Earthers including Mark Sargent, Patricia Steer and Jeran Campanella.

Sargent claims those that disagree with him are being ‘fooled’ into thinking the Earth is round.

Comparing it to Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show, in which one man finds out his whole life is actually a reality TV show, he said: ‘Imagine The Truman Show as a Hollywood stage 100 miles wide.

‘If you built a stage 1000 miles wide how many people could you fool besides just Truman?’

Behind The Curve, originally released in 2018, made headlines when one ‘flat Earther’ accidentally shattered his own theory with an experiment involving a torch.

But that’s not the only eyebrow-raising part of the film.

There are Flat Earther dating sites

The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik in denial about show ending as she talks series finale

The Big Bang Theory is nearly over – and just like us, Mayim Bialik is having a lot of feelings about it.

‘People keep asking me how does it feel? Well, I’m going to tell you,’ she began, before going through the five phases of grief and how they currently relate to her feelings on the series finale.

Throughout the video, she admits that she felt in denial about it ending despite the end date edging closer, and it’s only as the show hit single digits left to air that she began to realise this was it.

Mayim has been playing Amy Farrah-Fowler since season four of the show, before becoming a series regular.

The star has been frank with her fans via her vlogging channel (Picture: YouTube)

‘I think emotionally I’ve kind of pushed it aside,’ she told the camera, before moving into anger and admitting she wanted to blame someone for Big Bang finally ending.

Heading straight into bargaining, she told the camera: ‘I am so lucky to be in this situation, I love my job and I guess my job loves me.

‘It’s amazing, so maybe we could’ve kept it going. Maybe there’ll be a spin-off, maybe this maybe that, maybe the fans will revolt and we won’t have to end.’

However, hitting into depression, she shared her sadness at saying goodbye to the show after it hit so many landmarks.

‘It’s time, you know? We had a long run, we had an amazing run,’ she added. ‘All things must end, even the good things must end. It’s a shift. We’re all shifting.

‘I have two sons, they are 10 and 13 and a lot of my life is being OK with what comes next in their lives.’

Returning to what she’s preparing herself for in final countdown to the end of the series, she said: ‘I don’t know what these scripts hold, and I don’t really want to know.

‘I just want to show up every day and see what our wonderful writers have in store for us.’

‘I will act as if it’s my first time playing this character. I will recite my lines as if I have forever to play this character,’ she added.

‘I will indeed, dance like no one is watching, even though millions of people will tune into see what these last episodes will hold.’

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS in the US and at a later date on E4 in the UK.
