Vikings star Marco Ilsø prepares for battle in behind-the-scenes throwback (Picture: Instagram/marcoilsoe)
Vikings star Marco Ilsø recently pined over his co-stars when sharing a picture of them all together.
And it seems as though he is missing his on set life even more, as the 24-year-old has just gone and dropped a behind-the-scenes throwback.
Looking like he was preparing for battle, the Hvitserk star could be seen dressed in full viking garb, with his sword in tow.
While one of the crew adjusted his fur cape, Marco rested his hand on his hip as he smoldered for the camera.
But despite the snap, it seems he didn’t want to give anything away about what was happening, as he left the caption blank.
That didn’t stop his co-stars from commenting though, as Georgia Hirst who plays Torvi in the historical saga posted a drooling emoji.

Just recently, Marco has been reflecting on his time filming Vikings and shared a snap of himself, Alex Høgh Andersen and Jordan Patrick Smith on set.
Having no words to say for the caption, the actor allowed the snap to do the talking – however, his co-stars couldn’t help but comment.
Writing to their fellow warrior Alex, who plays Ivar The Boneless, remarked: ‘Still one of my favourite photos.’
Jordan, who takes the role of Ubbe, joked about his appearance, as he added: ‘I look,’ before inserting the okay hand emoji.
And Georgia also commented by writing: ‘I miss you guys,’ as she longed after their friendship.

Director Michael Hirst recently revealed that the show would be coming to an end following season six – however, he has since teased a spin off.
When chatting to Entertainment Tonight, the 66-year-old said: ‘There’s a very big chance that you could call Vikings: Part one that there’ll be a Vikings: Part two.’
The writer then added: ‘I know History and MGM are already discussing this.’
Not much else has been released about the side project, however fans have been calling for the writer to take a more in depth look at Rollo’s story.
A release date for the upcoming and final series of Vikings has not yet being released, however fans are expecting the 10 episode season to drop later this year.

The new series is set to portray growing tensions between the Queen and Feodora, but the belief is that they had a good relationship in reality.

Here is everything you need to know about Feodora and her relationship to Queen Victoria.
Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria, Lily Travers as Duchess Sophie Monmouth and Kate Fleetwood as Princess Feodora (Picture: ITV)
Who was Princess Feodora of Leiningen?
She was the half-sister of Queen Victoria as they were both the daughters of Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.
Princess Victoria was first married to Feodora’s father Emich Carl who was the 2nd Prince of Leiningen.
They lived together in Germany and had two children – Feodora and her older brother Carl.
In 1814 Emich died, with his son Carl taking over his title as Prince of Leiningen, while Victoria was left as a widow.
The death of Princess Charlotte of Wales saw problems arise finding a successor to the throne and this led to Princess Victoria entering her second marriage in 1818 when she wed Prince Edward, who was the Duke of Kent and Strathearn.
One year after their marriage Queen Victoria was born and this saw the family move to the UK as Victoria could be the next heir to the British throne.
Feodora developed a close relationship with her half-sister, but following her marriage to Ernst I at Kensington Palace, the two of them moved back to Germany.
The couple lived in a castle called Schloss Langenurg and had six children together – three sons and three daughters.
Feodora visited Buckingham Palace on numerous occasions following her marriage, often travelling with her husband and children.

Who plays Princess Feodora in Victoria?
In series 3 of Victoria actress Kate Fleetwood will be playing the role of Princess Feodora.
The 46-year-old currently stars as Nancy Birch in the period drama Harlots which airs on ITV Encore in the UK.
She is mostly known for her theatre work, having started as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In the past Kate has been nominated for a Tony Award for her role as Lady Macbeth, as well as an Olivier Award for playing Julie in London Road which was performed at the National Theatre.
She has also had roles in EastEnders, Silent Witness, Walking the Dead and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
Victoria series 3 starts on ITV at 9pm on Sunday 24 March.

The Walking Dead showrunner has dropped hints towards what to expect from the season nine finale, and it sounds like there’s more surprises in store than normal.
Finale episodes from the past usually involve the death of a major character, with the show often criticised for shuffling along at a glacial pace until the midseason and end of season entries.
The latest season, judging by the past few episodes, is starting to break that mould, featuring epic Daryl brawls, worthwhile Michonne flashbacks, and the Whisperers in cut-throat action.
Showrunner Angela Kang has now explained how this was all part of the plan to revive the show, in a bid to mix up the ‘rhythms of the storytelling’.
The Whisperers look set to continue into season 10 (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about what to expect in the finale, Angela said: ‘There’s a lot of really exciting things that we do and some things that we have not done before on the show.’
She added: ‘It will feel like there are certain character arcs, certainly, that have a bit of a closed end to them. It will feel like part of a chapter in a character’s journey, if that makes sense.’
The showrunner also suggested new threads will be set up for the next season, teasing: ‘Some new things may introduce themselves at the very end.’
The Walking Dead has littered potential future storylines throughout already, including the presence of Georgie who helped Maggie, and those helicopters which took away Rick.
This could, however, mean the arrival of new villain alongside the Whisperers – but we’ll have to see if the upcoming penultimate episode hides any clues.
The Walking Dead continues on AMC Sundays and airs Fox UK Mondays at 9pm.
Traitors has proven a bit of a hit for Channel 4 (Picture: Channel 4)
Channel 4 series Traitors is set to come to an end on Sunday night after keeping viewers gripped and winning plenty of critical plaudits.
The show, which stars Emma Appleton and Keeley Hawes, is set in 1945 London and follows Appleton’s character Feef as she is convinced to become a double agent for her own country after being seduced by a rogue American spy.
The character ultimately performs an act of treason against the British government which has had us on the edge of our seats – and longing for more.
So as the series wraps up, could another season possibly be on the cards?
Here’s what we know so far…
Will there be a second season of Traitors on Channel 4?
Here’s the bad news. As yet Channel 4 has yet to confirm whether the show will be back for series two.
Still, there is some good news as the series is being released on Netflix this week in its entirety.
It’ll be released worldwide on the streaming service on 28 March – meaning you can watch it all over again or catch up with it if you missed it on Channel 4.
Who else is in the cast of Traitors?
Emma Appleton’s character finds herself in a tricky position (Picture: Channel 4)
As well as Hawes – who plays Cabinet Office civil servant Priscilla Garrick – and Appleton the show’s cast also features Michael Stuhlbarg, Matt Lauria, Luke Treadaway, Jamie Blackley and Simon Kunz.
‘Appleton has said of her character: ‘Adventure is what she’s after. That’s the ticket with her. She’s desperate to get out of living with her family – they’re not proud of her, and they don’t see any aspiration for her, they just want her to get married and settle down and be a wife, and that is not her agenda whatsoever.
‘She’s definitely the kind of character who’s just willing to push those boundaries.’
Traitors is available on 4od and is on Netflix from 28 March.

Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes are back as Victoria and Albert (Picture: ITV)
It’s been a while since we last saw Jenna Coleman as Victoria on ITV, but the show’s finally returning to screens for its third series.
The new run made its debut on Sunday night, bringing the action up to the middle of the monarch’s reign as the French Revolution takes hold and the People’s Charter rears its head.
Here’s what you need to know about the new series.
How many episodes are there in the new series of Victoria?
There are eight episodes in the new series of the show which began on ITV on Sunday night.
The first episode aired at 9pm, and it’s like the subsequent instalments will be on at the same time barring any unexpected schedule changes.
When will the series finale be?
With the first episode of the third series showing on Sunday night, there are seven more instalments to go.
Unless the show takes a break for any reason, that would make it likely that the series finale will be screened on Sunday 12 May.
What will happen in this series of Victoria?
With the action picking up in 1858 the Queen has to not only deal with the events of the French Revolution and King Louis Philippe’s bid to secure safety in England, but also the People’s Charter and its effects – which could lead to her having to leave London for her own safety.
Victoria is also grappling with personal issues as well, as she has to cope with post-natal depression as well as marital issues with Albert.

“Series three will start in 1848 which was a hugely dramatic and eventful time for both the royal family and Europe, with revolutions on the continent and uncertainty around the monarchy,’ writer Daisy Goodwin explained.
‘Viewers can expect more drama than ever before in the third series.’
Jenna Coleman added that Victoria and Albert become ‘more and more disparate’ as the series goes on, saying: ‘They lose each other for a while.’
Who is in the cast this time around?
Laurence Fox joins the cast as Lord Palmerston (Picture: ITV)
As well as Coleman and Tom Hughes as Albert, the cast welcomes Laurence Fox as Lord Palmerston, the Foreign Secretary who later becomes Prime Minister.
Other cast newcomers include Kate Fleetwood as Victoria’s half-sister Feodora, as well as Nicholas Audsley and Lily Travers as the Duke and Duchess of Monmouth.

Queen Victoria finds trouble at her door in series three (Picture: ITV)
Victoria’s (Jenna Coleman) royal bubble was well and truly burst as the hit drama returned for a third series.
In the first episode Uneasy Lies The Head That Wears The Crown, the year is 1848 and revolution is sweeping across Europe.
Victoria seemed certain that the tensions would not reach Britain but was proved wrong when the king of France was chased out of his country and forced to take shelter with Victoria and Prince Albert (Tom Hughes).
If the trouble away wasn’t enough to deal with, it was creeping in on the home front too with the arrival of troublemaker Lord Palmerston (Lawrence Fox) and the queen’s half sister Feodora (Kate Fleetwood – unsettling and brilliant).
Her (uncharacteristically?) naive belief in the love of the English people never wavered until the moment a brick thrown through a window of her home by Chartists landed at her feet, the stress sending her into labour.
Lord Palmerston arrives to shake things up (Picture: ITV)
Fox has previously compared his posh, blonde-haired Foreign Secretary to Boris Johnson and the real world comparisons continued as Victoria and Albert rowed over forming alliances with people abroad. (We’re not gonna mention the B-word). This theme seemed to be the basis of marital friction in the episode, and – having seen a sneak peek of things to come this series – will continue to be.
Viewers are in danger of watching yet more bickering between the royal couple over their politics for a third time, so the show has inserted some Downton Abbey-style side plots for easy, soapy viewing.
Duchess Sophie of Monmouth’s (Lily Travers) stolen glances with a hunky new footman, and Skerrett and Francatelli’s wedding plans ran through this instalment, but it could take a couple more episodes to get invested in either. There’s only so much of Skerrett’s mooning over her boss we can take.
Duchess Sophie stars in a soapy side plot for easier viewing (Picture: ITV)
Scenes of Palmerston’s sparring with Victoria and Albert were excellent from the three leads.
The Foreign Secretary is a riot who enjoys ruffling Victoria’s feathers and their scenes, loaded with Victoria’s barely containable rage, provided much needed comic relief amid the uprisings and Albert’s brooding.
Victoria has a lot of toughening up to do this series, and after this episode, both captivating and cosy, it’s time to bring on the reality check.
Victoria airs Sundays at 9pm on ITV

Race Across The World has already seen relationships being tested, but one of the contestants may have found love on the show.
We could not be more here for it.
Darron and Alex, the father and son team on the show, managed to make it across the Chinese border before it closed, giving them a good 20 hour head start on the other teams.
However, since they were majorly lacking in funds, they decided to put in a day’s work at a florist.
She helped them out with directions (Picture: BBC)
Alex, 20, quickly realised that the shift manager spoke perfect English, and the pair chatted away about not having a clue what to do with their lives after university.
Highly relatable.
Afterwards, the lady cheekily called Alex ‘handsome’ and admitted she’d ‘never forget’ him, before giving him a huge hug before he and his dad left.
Alex may have found his one and only (Picture: BBC)
Back in the car with Darron, Alex sheepishly admitted: ‘I gave her my contact details’, with his dad being quick to mock.
Best friends Josh and Felix ended up making a run for it, only to find out it had closed just as they arrived.
Cracks started appearing between the two, with Felix declaring: ‘Well we’re f***ed mate, looks like we’re staying here then.’
With Josh attempting to calm him down, he added: ‘We don’t know where were going, we don’t know anything and we also don’t have enough money, we’ve got 2000 tenge (£4).’
Despite the friction, the pair ended up being second to make it too the checkpoint.

He delayed surgery to continue filming the show (Picture: Yvette Kelly)
Married At First Sight star Nic Jovanovic has revealed he was diagnosed with testicular cancer for a second time this year while filming the show.
The star was first diagnosed four years ago, however, after discovering a lump on his testicle around Christmas, went to the doctors to be diagnosed for a second time.
The 28-year-old, who works as an electrician, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it. Four years later… there was so much going on in my life, for it to come back, I’m still in shock that it came back.’
He added to 9Honey: ‘You think being that young and having dealt with it once, surely that’s it.’
The star spoke out about diagnosis (Picture: Yvette Kelly)
The star recalled asking himself: ‘What have I done to deserve this?’
However, it didn’t affect his commitment to the show as he even delayed undergoing surgery so as he could film scenes.
Jonathan, 39, decided to sign up for the show after recently attending a friend’s wedding and seeing several friends go on to have successful arranged marriages. He says that a deal breaker would be ‘someone lazy without the same drive’ and he wouldn’t want to ‘rush into starting a family.’
Meanwhile, Steph, a 28-year-old nurse wants to find someone who ‘is ready to make a commitment’ and lists her ideal man as someone ‘tall and dark, who likes cats, is equally laid back, funny, kind and logical.’
Office Manager Verity, 28, has admitted that she’s not worried that the track record of the show hasn’t been great either, explaining that probability is on her side.
‘It’s got to work at some point,’ she said. ‘You can see each year that there’s a couple where one person’s keen and the other person isn’t, so hopefully at some point it’ll be both people on the same page.
Jack, a 25-year-old IT Consultant who’s after an active petite girl, echoed similar sentiments, adding: ‘I believe this is the year for it.’

Baptiste came to an end – but will it return? (Picture: BBC)
Warning: Contains spoilers for Baptiste series one.
Baptiste creators have addressed whether there’ll be a second series of the show, after the finale packed a brutal flashback twist.
The spin-off series from The Missing follows Julien Baptiste, who was forced to tackle a particularly personal case in the final episode.
Julien’s long-lost son Niels was revealed to be a corrupt cop for the Brigada Serbilu, after believing it was Niels’ mother Martha who was working for the Romanian gang.
After being ambushed by police, Niels panics and shoots his own mother in the head before shooting Julien too, and manages to escape the ambush.
Niels was revealed to be the corrupt cop (Picture: BBC)
He was caught, however, later and sent to prison, with the show’s final season being an exchange between Baptiste and Edward Stratton as the latter asks if he’ll retire from detective life.
But is this the end for Baptiste? Speaking to Digital Spy, creators Harry and Jack Williams revealed their potential plans for a second series.
Asked about the possibility of revisiting Niels, Harry said: ‘I think so, yeah. When we first came up with Julien having this illegitimate son, and also the fact that he was capable of this thing, we definitely thought, “Yeah, that’s a great end point for the series.”
‘But going forward, having Julien have this son who has done these awful things, is a great thing psychologically for him to dig into, because he’s Julien Baptiste. He’s going to want to try and understand that in his own way.
‘Niel will probably have more secrets. I think this won’t be the last we see of him. Unless we don’t see another Baptiste, in which case we won’t see any of them again!’
One character who they’re pretty sure they won’t return to is Edward Stratton, with Jack saying: ‘I don’t think we’ll be seeing Tom Hollander’s character again, which is a shame, because he’s really good!
‘But there are elements, like with Niels, where that’s something that we wish we had explored more. Or Genevieve’s character, who we don’t know a lot about.
‘There’s definitely elements that are unexplored. And our hope is that Baptiste might return.’
An official second series of Baptiste is yet to be confirmed.
Warning: Contains huge spoilers for The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead delivered one of the most brutal episodes in the show’s history, wiping out a total of ten characters in one sweep.
The latest episode The Calm Before saw the much anticipated fair finally take place at the Kingdom, as the communities came together, formed new alliances and sold goods to one another in the first event of its kind.
This hopeful occasion, however, wasn’t going to last long with the Whisperers around. After killing Hilltop’s Hilde and Miles at the outset of the episode, Alpha is seen wandering around the fair disguised with the former’s blonde hair, even sharing pleasantries with King Ezekiel. Not long after this, a bunch of people start to mysteriously go missing around the fair.
While this happens, a number of groups have branched off to secure the safety of the fair. Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carol (Melissa McBride), and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) are then captured and held captive by the Whisperers overnight.
Alpha has made the border very clear (Picture: AMC)
Alpha tells Daryl how the Whisperers can live peacefully alongside these communities as long as they stay out of Whisperer territory, threatening them by showing the massive horde of walkers they’ll unleash if they don’t abide by their rules. Alpha also explains how she’s made clear where the north border lies to a puzzled Daryl.
After releasing them, the group encounter Siddiq tied up and panicked. In a scene pulled directly from the comics, they all discover ten pikes with heads stuck on top lined up on the hill. As we discover, the Whisperers kidnapped each of these survivors during the fair, while others were added to the body count after a rescue attempt.
The three main characters who died are Tara (Alanna Masterson), the newfound leader of Hilltop after Jesus died; Enid (Katelyn Nacon), Carl’s former girlfriend and Hilltop medic; and Henry (Matt Lintz), who has filled the role of Carl from the comics so far.
The show delivered one of the comics most iconic scenes (Picture: AMC)
Other characters killed are Tammy Rose (Brett Butler) from Hilltop, Highwaymen leader Ozzy (Angus Sampson), Alek (Jason Kirkpatrick), and former Savior DJ (Matt Mangum), with the latter three attempting to rescue the captive survivors.
The Whisperers also killed Hilltop teens Addy (Kelly Mack) and Rodney (Joe Ando-Hirsh), along with Frankie (Elyse DuFour) who was one of Negan’s wives that became friends with Eugene (Josh McDermitt) when he was captured.
While they mostly comprise of minor characters, the big three could change the show significantly, with Henry’s death having a huge impact on a shaken Carol.
If you need some comforting, the scene in the comics killed off Ezekiel and Rosita – so at least the show has been kind in some respects. Sort of.
The Walking Dead continues on AMC Sundays and airs Mondays on Fox at 9pm. And is available to watch on NOW TV.
Carol is faced with reunions and heartbreaking deaths (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)
Warning: Contains spoilers for The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead reached a chilling peak in this latest episode, seeing Alpha and the Whisperers send their most brutal, harrowing message to the communities yet.
Every now and then, The Walking Dead seems to remember it can be the most shocking series on television. Think back to Lori’s death while giving birth to Judith, Carol executing young Lizzie, and more recently, Negan smashing out Glenn’s eyeball after a torturous cliffhanger.
New episode The Calm Before is up there with some of these best moments. As we finally see Ezekiel’s fair in full swing, we’re given a smartly planned trickle of character reunions and splitting groups as the threat unsettlingly looms in the background — leading to a devastating crescendo.
Are you ready to celebrate? (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)
This threat is clear from the opening minutes. As a couple celebrating their fifth anniversary travel to Kingdom for Ezekiel’s fair from Hilltop, they’re intercepted and killed by Alpha, who scalps her head for her long blonde hair. With this lurking tone set, we’re bundled to the fair where Carol and Ezekiel are reunited with people from Alexandria and Hilltop, including Michonne, Daryl, Henry, and, to Tara’s dismay, Alpha’s daughter Lydia.
This kickstarts political talks between the communities, who all set aside their differences pretty quickly, before Alexandria officially offers Lydia asylum. They also decide to create a new mutual protection pact whereby any community under threat must be helped by the others, giving Ezekiel an excuse to whip out his parchment taken from Michonne’s old charter pre-time jump.
While this build-up is easy to forget following the episode’s second half, there’s some nice character exchanges littered throughout. Callbacks to past seasons on why Tara should give Lydia a chance was a nice touch, while Carol’s brief reunion with Judith struck a nice chord of how divided these communities have become over the years since Rick’s disappearance.
Samantha Morton steals every scene as Alpha (Picture: Gene Page/AMC)
One of the most impressive aspects of this episode is how you’re constantly left guessing as the threat level rises. The show knows we’re expecting some catastrophic event (as shown in the comics), but the show smartly plays with expectations by disbanding individuals in multiple directions. This is dialled up when Alpha infiltrates Hilltop in her blonde wig, creeping through the crowds and pretending to search for the finest garments around.
As Daryl, Michonne, Carol, and Yumiko are captured by the Whisperers, and people from the Kingdom randomly start to go missing — you start to click together the pieces. It doesn’t make the reveal any less powerful, however, as the group see the piked heads of their friends and allies laid out on the grassy hill before them.
While many of the ten characters are relatively minor (farewell Highwaymen), its the reactions from Carol, Daryl, and Michonne which sell the devastation. As the sequence jumps between fair flashbacks and each piked head, it’s an excellently orchestrated scene which delivers both shock tactics and emotional gut-punches. Daryl’s attempt to shield Carol from Henry’s face, in particular, was perhaps the most brutal kicker of them all.
Siddiq is also finally given time to shine recounting the story of their capture and how he was spared by the Whisperers to spread fear. In defiance, Siddiq instead recalls their valiant, if futile, efforts to rescue one another before they met a grisly fate. It was a moving moment, which finally gave the character some breathing space and juicy material to work with.
The Walking Dead’s patchy quality is renowned to most fans, but The Calm Before is a reminder of the show’s power to stun all these years later. Powerful, gripping, and featuring a delicious performance from Samantha Morton, this ranks as one of The Walking Dead’s finest moments which will be remembered long after the final bow.
The Walking Dead continues on AMC Sundays and airs Mondays on Fox UK at 9pm. And is available to watch on NOW TV.
She was being interviewed for an upcoming episode of his series Life Stories, when the Good Morning Britain presenter probed the singer on rumours she was more than mates with Geri at one stage.
While Mel tried to swerve the question, looking to bandmate Mel C in the audience for help, Piers pushed on.
Piers spoke about the moment he asked Mel B the question (Picture: ITV)
‘There I was on Friday interviewing Mel B at Elstree studios for my Life Stories…’ he said on Monday morning, after the news spread like wildfire on Saturday evening.
‘It doesn’t air for another two months […] I just had a little idea something had gone on with her and Geri.’
In the interview – the segment in question has since been aired – Mel began her revelation by saying Geri ‘had great boobs.’
Mel seemed nervous to speak out (Picture: ITV)
‘She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband. But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it,’ 43-year-old Mel continued.
It emerged she also said: ‘We were best friends. It just happened. Have you ever done that? Yeah and I’ve said it now. All done.’
Now Piers has admitted ‘it’s all kicking off’ as he added today: ‘Geri is now briefing the “it’s never happened”. She’s slightly panicking about what Mr Geri [husband Christian Horner] thinks.’
Speaking with his co-host Susanna Reid, she noted to Piers he ‘just let the awkwardness sit.’
‘It goes on a lot longer, I had fun with it,’ he said, adding he urged Mel to be, like the title of her book, ‘brutally honest’.
‘Are you going to be honest or not? Brutally honest, or are you going to tell me porkies?’ he continued.
‘It certainly adds a little spice about the new tour which will start around the time the episode is out.’
Good Morning Britain returns 6am on ITV.

‘Until I turned up here today, you get an idea that the show’s doing well with a bit of online chat, and people call you up and say, “watched the show man, it’s great.”
‘But it’s great to see the response from the people and see how excited they are about it.’
‘I hope we get a second and third and fourth season, but I knew that having a great ending is important for Netflix as a streamer,’ he told IndieWire.
‘You really want people to say, “I’ve got to come back and watch what happens.” That was ultimate in my mind.
‘It takes us 18 months to do a season. The goal is not to diverge. Not everything translates from the graphic novel page to the screen, but there’s a legion of fans and I want to bring in a whole new legion of fans who’ve never read the graphic novel, so the goal is not to just go off in our own direction.’
The Umbrella Academy is available to stream on Netflix.

Game of Thrones star Ian Beattie, Ser Meryn Trant, was cheesed off at having series spoiled (Picture: HBO)
Game of Thrones star Ian Beattie has revealed that he desperately tried to avoid spoilers while working on the set of the HBO show and when his plan failed miserably, he was pretty annoyed.
The actor, who played Ser Meryn Trant until his death in season five, revealed that one of his co-stars let slip a huge storyline despite having made requests to be kept in the dark about how the episodes would play out.
Speaking at MCM Comic Con Birmingham over the weekend, Ian confessed: ‘The more I fell in love with the show, the less I wanted to read the scripts.
Ian had even gone to special lengths to make sure the series wasn’t spoiled (Picture: WireImage)
‘At the start of season three, I actually phoned the production office and said, “Don’t send me the scripts. Just send me my scenes.”‘
He continued: ‘All the way through season 4, I told everybody, “Don’t tell me. Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.”‘
However, Ian revealed that he almost finished the series without hearing any major spoilers, until the final day on set that is.
‘The last day of filming in Belfast, the season’s wrapping up, and I’m doing a scene with Nikolai [Coster-Waldau] and Jack [Gleeson], where Joffrey is slagging off his uncle,’ Ian said.
‘So we finish that scene, I’m standing outside having a cigarette, and Charles Dance walks up and he’s in a dressing gown. “Well…” he says, “the little bastard finally killed me.”‘
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 14 and will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic in the UK. In the meantime, you can currently stream seasons one to seven on NOW TV.

Sir David Attenborough make a desperate plea to Netflix viewers in Our Planet (Picture: PA)
David Attenborough’s Our Planet is easily the most essential series he’s embarked on so far.
The 92-year-old has teamed up with Netflix with one crucial message, a final warning: the planet is on the brink of despair and we must act now. In fact, we have just 20 years to turn climate change around before it’s too late. What that entails, we don’t want to know.
But Our Planet is more than just an opportunity to preach to the millennial masses; it’s a mesmerising trip exploring every corner of the earth – from the Brazilian rain forest to the glaciers in Greenland – with spectacular scenes and never-before-seen footage of jaw-dropping natural events, arguably going above and beyond anything achieved on the BBC.
Each episode follows a different impact on life, such as hunting or fishing, and the cataclysmic repercussions each has on our diminishing habitat without wagging the finger.
‘You have to be careful with that because you want people to sit down and enjoy it because it’s an extraordinary experience for people,’ Our Planet producers Alistair Fothergill and Keith Scholey stressed to Metro.co.uk. ‘We didn’t want it to be political, we just wanted it to be a factual account of what is happening in the planet.
‘We want to empower people with things you can do; you can’t just say to people, “By the way the planet’s having problems” without saying this is what you can do.’
For Sir David, the biggest problem is meat. For one, our consumption of mammals is so far past what’s sustainable, but a scarier thought – we’re subsequently poisoning our oceans and spelling ‘catastrophe for Homo sapiens’.
‘The fact is huge portions of human beings depend on the seas for food and we know we can’t afford to keep on making steaks,’ insisted Sir David. ‘We will be dependent on the sea and at the moment we are poisoning them and boiling them.
‘I’m not vegetarian in the sense that I’d throw up if I touch a piece of meat, but I eat very little meat. Poultry a bit, but mostly fish. And I think most people are doing so. The world is moving towards a dependancy on fish and heaven help us when we’re doing what we’re doing to the ocean at the same time. We’re crippling it’s fertility; it’s a very serious problem.’
Although, he’s hopeful.
‘We tend to think of ourselves in our own context,’ Sir David explained. ‘The idea that one individual can lay 1,000 eggs – 1,000 eggs into an empty eco system – a lot of them are going to survive. So that rate in which animals can come back, particularly in fish and insects, they too can recover very quickly if given the chance.
‘The chance of bringing about a really dramatic improvement is there for the taking.’
‘Our final film ends in Chernobyl,’ Alistair added. ‘There is a higher density of wolves in Chernobyl.
Out Planet is easily Sir David Attenborough’s most impressive work to date (Picture: Netflix)
‘One of the reasons we were pleased to do this for Netflix is because it’s a young audience, largely under 30, and this is the generation which is inheriting this damaged planet. We feel it’s really important to help these people understand problems and understand solutions but in a hopeful way.
‘Otherwise you just stick your head in the sand, “There’s nothing I can do so I might as well eat a steak.”’
‘Conservation has been it’s own worst enemy in that it’s made it too complicated,’ said Keith. ‘If it’s too complicated people think they can’t deal with this.
‘We’ve simplified it down – there’s certain simple things you need to do: you need to cut carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we need to change our diet globally, we need to protect the oceans, and we know which bits we need to protect and then fish the hell out of the rest of it.
‘There are just steps that need to happen. If everyone does those things we get out of this mess, but if we don’t – because we have run out of time so there is an urgency on this – if we do this then we get out. That’s the message.’
As for David, while he begins to steer into his mid nineties, he’s sowing absolutely no signs of slowing down, thankfully. After Our Planet, the BBC have announced an ‘urgent’ one-off film, Climate Change – The Facts, to be presented by the broadcaster while Silverback productions, who have worked alongside the natural historian for decades, have confirmed a string of new series which will surely need the narrator’s beloved tones.
The first is Perfect Planet, expected to arrive in 2020. When asked if he’ll be involved, Sir David, behind that fond grin, told us: ‘[Keith] may employ me. Is this 2020? I’ll be 95.’
Thankfully, his boss was quick to assure: ‘Long may that continue.’
Our Planet will be available to stream from April 5 on Netflix.

Samantha Morton’s Alpha held no prisoners (Picture: AMC)
*Warning, contains spoilers for The Walking Dead season nine.
The Walking Dead’s co-executive producer has explained why the show killed off 10 characters in a brutal cull at the hands of Alpha (Samantha Morton) in latest episode The Calm Before.
Newfound leader of Hilltop Tara (Alanna Masterson) was murdered, alongside Enid (Katelyn Nacon) and Henry (Matt Lintz), with Tammy Rose (Brett Butler), Highwaymen leader Ozzy (Angus Sampson), Alek (Jason Kirkpatrick), and former Savior DJ (Matt Mangum).
The Whisperers also killed Hilltop teens Addy (Kelly Mack) and Rodney (Joe Ando-Hirsh) and Frankie (Elyse DuFour).

Co-exec and director Greg Nicotero revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that ‘there’s a brutality’ to the deaths and there was ‘much decision’ over who got the axe.
‘It feels unlike any other episode we have ever produced,’ he began. ‘First of all, the deaths are at the hands of a human being instead of walkers, so that immediately makes it different.
‘In a world where you struggle to survive in this upside down world of the undead, you figure, “OK, that’s how I’m going to go.”
‘But with the introduction of the Governor (David Morrissey), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and then the Whisperers, you’re constantly reminded that man’s inhumanity toward man is the most horrific thing that can occur.
Alanna Masterson’s Tara Chambler was killed in the episode The Calm Before (Picture: AMC)
‘There’s a real brutality to it. I loved in the script how Siddiq (Avi Nash) talks about how the [victims] all fought until the end. There was no fear. They were willing to band together and fight for each other in unsurmountable, unbeatable odds.
‘There’s a randomness to it. That’s part of what makes it so tragic. It has that Glenn (Steven Yeun) feel, where it’s random and uncontrollable. You don’t expect it. You don’t see it coming. And then you get this one-two punch.’
Explaining the decision behind selecting the main victims, Henry, Enid and Tara, Greg said: ‘There’s so much behind the decisions of who goes and who doesn’t go.
‘Even at the beginning of the season, when we knew the sequence was coming, everybody was always saying to Christian and Khary: “Heads on spikes are coming! Here it comes!” But it’s always about what these moments and these deaths do to other characters that catapults them forward.
‘In regards to Henry and his relationship to Carol (Melissa McBride), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Ezekiel… there’s a very specific reason to lose him.
‘In terms of other characters? Tara stepped up as a leader once Jesus (Tom Payne) died. She was showing some real authority and leadership at Hilltop.
‘Ultimately, it’s an organic decision, the way it evolves, like the relationship between Enid and Alden (Callan McAuliffe). You see a budding relationship and a budding romance, where people are rising to what makes them the best person they can be, like Tara.
‘In many instances, some people find those realizations. In other instances, it’s brutally torn from them.’
The Walking Dead continues on AMC Sundays and airs Mondays on Fox UK at 9pm. And is available to watch on NOW TV.

Britain’s Got Talent producers are lining up Susan Boyle for a Champions series (Picture: ITV)
After a triumphant return to the spotlight on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, Susan Boyle may finally get another chance to win a Got Talent title on her home turf.
The 57-year-old is said to be in talks to go up against 2012 Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashliegh Butler as the cream of the BGT crop return to face Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon for a rumoured all-star series next year.
Despite selling more than 25 million albums, Susan was controversially beaten by Diversity in the 2009 finale and came sixth for the AGT: The Champions earlier this year.
‘American viewers were furious when SuBo didn’t win and now Simon wants to give her a second shot by getting her on the British version of the show,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Susan’s a great competitor, has a fascinating back story and is really popular with the British public.
‘She came second in her original appearance and got near on AGT — so this could be third time lucky.’

It’s a big year for Sue as she releases her new album and is set to make her long-awaited musical comeback during this year’s Britain’s Got Talent live shows.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to a BGT spokesperson on this story.
As for this year’s series, it’s already been an emotional ride as Ant McPartlin returned to work following his year of recovery after he was charged for drink-driving in March 2018.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV in 2019.

If you ever wanted to see Piers Morgan beatbox, today is your lucky day.
The Good Morning Presenter showed off his chops on Monday morning during an interview with Latin American boyband CNCO.
As the five-piece chatted with Piers and co-host Susanna Reid, it was suggested one of their members have a beatbox off with Piers.
Which made for some great morning viewing, as you can see.
‘On Britain’s Got Talent I did a bit of beatboxing,’ Piers declared, rather sure of his skills. ‘Turns out I was a bit of a natural.’
Yes this happened and it was glorious for a Monday morning (Picture: ITV)
He challenged the boys of CNCO (Picture: ITV)
However, then CNCO member Zabdiel de Jesús took the mic and showed Piers what he was up against.
And he actually did a great job, because he’s an artist and performer and that’s what he does.
Zabdiel then passed the microphone over to Piers who, er, well, as you can see in the clip gave it a red hot shot. But it wasn’t that great a job as he’s done in the past.
Perhaps feeling the heat, Piers yelled: ‘The mic isn’t on – turn it on! Is it on?!’
Turns out the mic was well and truly on and punters watching from home were left pretty aghast at the early-morning display.
One Twitter user was less than impressed as they quipped: ‘My god piers trying to beat box.’
While a couple others were just really worried about the sanitary stage of the microphone following Piers’s foray into the beatboxing world.
‘Someone wash that microphone. Piers has slabbered all over it ,’ one joked, as another echoed their sentiments by adding: ‘Piers just spitting into a microphone…Monday has never started so well…’
Back in 2008 Piers came up against Dave Crowe on Britain’s Got Talent – and remarkably won by popular vote.
He put his cap on backwards as the crowd cheered. And while some may believe his beatboxing was a little less than the amazing efforts of David, the audience voted with their applause.
Today he might not have been so lucky.
Good Morning Britain returns 6am on ITV.

After quoting the CIA in apparently backing up his powers, Uri continued to say how he ‘can transmit energy and receive’ it.
‘I’ve known Theresa May for over 21 years, I lived in the same village she still does,’ he said on Good Morning Britain on Monday. ‘She visited my home, I took her to the garage, I pointed at the spoon belonging to Winston Churchill, three years before, and I bombarded her mind.’
This isn’t new, previously Uri explained his plan to stop Brexit would totally work after he said three years before May became prime minister he ‘predicted your victory when I showed you Winston Churchill’s spoon on my Cadillac, which I asked you to touch.’
Now he’s given the public the tool he believes we need to make it happen, as he detailed to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid the chant we need to join him in every day at 11:11 AM and PM.
‘This is my plan, to all of you who are with me, I’ve seen pictures of the demonstrations’ he began.
‘I’m not a prophet and I’m not a guru and a miracle worker but I believe with the power of the mind if we concentrate, no matter how far out this sounds, together with me at 11:11 every morning AM and PM, just think the following:
‘Theresa bring us to a second vote. Go for a second referendum.’
However, he wasn’t able to truly finish his mental note as Piers cut in and asked if Uri was a British citizen (turns out he has a British passport) and what was in it for him if his telepathy worked.
‘I passionately care about people in the UK, especially the young people,’ he said on today’s programme. ‘If Brexit…if the deal is done. The recession, the economic chaos. UK will be isolated not only from the EU from the entire world. It’ll be a catastrophe.’
Susanna and Piers were sceptical in Uri’s plan, wondering what would happen if the telepathy didn’t work and he’d ‘lost his powers’.
‘Maybe I’m doing this too late? I’m doing my best to make this work,’ he said.
‘It doesn’t look good for me [if it fails] all my life is a gamble, but I have the power, I believe in you people in the UK,’ he said, before he pleaded: ‘Be with me, let’s do this, we don’t have much time.’
