Mr Robot season 4: Rami Malek’s stare will pierce your soul in trippy new teaser trailer

Rami Malek’s soul-piercing stare is back in action as Elliot Alderson in the latest teaser trailer for Mr Robot season 4.

The final upcoming episodes, which will mark the end of the cyber-hacking drama, is giving nothing away about what viewers can expect – but Elliot looks like he’s beginning to lose touch with reality in the quick 30 second clip.

In the haunting first look, Elliot stares straight down the camera as he begs: ‘Please tell me you’re seeing this too.’

What follows is a number of Elliot-centric clips as he makes his way around New York City – his levels of blank stares slowly increasing over time.

Eyes wide in bed, on the lookout in the big city and even before a gun gets put to his head, the troubled hacker is seriously running out of luck.

Trouble is, will his mental health or those out to find him be the thing that beats him first?

The final season comes as Rami prepares to join the 007 universe as the new villain to face off against James Bond.

The intense drama will be shutting down once and for all at the end of the upcoming season four, but we’re pretty sure the complicated web sleuths will have a whole heap of trouble on their hands.

In fact, Rami admitted that the show’s end ‘left his mouth agape’ when it was revealed what becomes of Elliot and the web team led by Mr Robot himself, Christian Slater.

Elliot has been put through the ringer thanks to his hacking schemes (Picture: Channel USA)

Confirming the news of the show’s end, showrunner Sam Esmail explained: ‘When I first created the world of Mr. Robot, I thought it would be a niche television series with a small, cult following.

‘Over the past three years, it has become so much more, and I am continually humbled by the show’s recognition and by the amazing cast and crew that work tirelessly to help bring my vision to life.’

‘Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of Mr. Robot, I have decided that conclusion is finally here,’ he added.

Mr Robot, for those not in the know, has become a massive cult hit for Amazon Prime Video, as it follows a depressive recluse called Elliott, whose skills behind a computer’s keyboard brings him to the attention of hacktivists.

Trying to recruit him, the team encourages him to help create systems that could bring down the government (but as you can imagine, that’s a little bit more difficult than a simple CTRL-ALT-DEL).

Christian Slater plays the leading mind behind the hacking team, who want to reset the world by erasing debts (at least, to begin with).

Mr Robot launches later this year on USA Network, and Amazon Prime Video in the UK.

Meghan Markle shouldn’t return to acting now she’s married, says Kevin Costner

Meghan Markle has been linked with a return to acting ever since she married Prince Harry last year.

Despite leaving Suits and Rachel Zane behind when she announced her engagement, fans have been calling for the Duchess of Sussex to stage a comeback.

However Kevin Costner doesn’t believe the 38-year-old should get back in front of the camera.

During an appearance on Lorraine, the Bodyguard actor explained: ‘It would be hard… Why? Because if you’re Harry, and he seems like a great guy…

‘That’s why I’m not married to an actress, I don’t want to see my wife kissing somebody.

‘I’m on Harry’s side.’

The 64-year-old also explained Meghan has a lot on her plate at the moment, and all eyes around the world are on her.

Side note: We’re pretty sure she knows that, hun…

‘I don’t want to be a person that’s ever limiting somebody,’ Kevin continued. ‘But there’s so much thought that goes into number one being a wife, and then being in this circle that I don’t even understand… Royalty.

‘It’s a unique spot and we watch from it across an ocean and sometimes don’t understand what’s going on.

‘She’s had enough attention for a lifetime now, in one year.’

Meghan has received a lot of backlash lately, firstly when her security team ordered a man to stop taking pictures ‘of her’ at Wimbledon.

She also caused controversy for guest editing the September issue of Vogue, with many questioning her thought process behind the decision.

And Lady Colin Campbell has suggested she should ‘stop being a hustler’ and embrace her new life in the Royal family.

‘I have an awful feeling that Meghan needs to understand things that she doesn’t yet understand, like there’s a massive difference in being a celebrity and hustling your way from the bottom to the top,’ the outspoken Celebs Go Dating star recently said.

‘And she was a very proud hustler, she used to use the word hustler for herself and her first husband quite proudly,’ she continued, referring to Meghan’s former husband Trevor Engelson.

‘Being a lady, being a royal, you don’t hustle, the values and embodiment is completely different.

‘She sought it, she’s got it, I think she needs to now embrace it and understand it’s a new game in town.

‘She’s an actress, she needs to come up with a new act.’

Lorraine continues on weekdays, at 8.30am, on ITV.

Will Ferrell reprises Anchorman character Ron Burgundy for Late Night takeover – not Rihanna or Adele

It was rumoured that a major female pop star was set to announce her comeback on Thursday after booking out major late-night shows.

But it turns out that was actor Will Ferrell, who appeared on a number of late-night shows to talk Anchorman – not pop comebacks.

The actor appeared on a number of late night shows as Anchorman character Ron Burgundy to promote the second season of his Ron Burgundy podcast.

The well-loved fictional San Diego newscaster’s routine was the same for each appearance: a stand-up portion and an interview with a late-night host.

He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with the host introducing him as the ‘legendary broadcaster’ where he joked about The Beatles, Donald Trump and the biggest story of 2019 – the ‘Ferris Bueller Report,’ a play on Robert Mueller’s report into possible Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential elections.

‘No collusion, definitely obstruction,’ Ferrell said in the late night appearances. ‘And the fact that you select a fictional movie character to investigate the president is way beyond my pay grade.’

He jumped from topic-to-topic in quick succession, and at one point asked the audience if they watched pornography.

‘Dating is hard,’ the comedian lamented, and talked about his lack of luck with dating apps.

‘Apparently there’s only one woman who’s an exact match. She lives in Borneo. Her name is Filacca Kikkatta.’

He ‘cannot make this stuff up,’ he said, adding ‘But I did. I made that up for your entertainment!’

Weed smokers were also on his funny list, and he impersonated Jack Nicholson and Jimmy Stewart in a bit about visiting a weed dispensary. ‘Next week you can catch me at the San Antonio Pizza Hut. Not sure they do stand-up comedy there but I’m going to try!’

Following his bit on Kimmel, the 52-year-old was revealed to be the ‘mystery guest’ on other shows including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

He was also scheduled to appear on The Late Late Show with James Corden and Late Night With Seth Myers.

A report from website Popcravenews suggested a major pop star was planning to announce a comeback on Thursday via the late night shows, and people speculated that it might be Adele, Rihanna, Lady Gaga or Selena Gomez.

The website told its followers on social media: ‘A big female pop star has booked all major late night shows for an unprecedented TV takeover on Thursday, August 8’ – next to a silhouetted photo of the singer.’

Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

On the plus side, season two of Ferrell’s podcast will feature Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Friends’ Matthew Perry approves of the new Lego set – because Chandler’s the hottest

The upcoming Friends Lego set is getting all sorts of attention – but you know they’ve actually done the show justice seeing as Matthew Perry has given his seal of approval.

Matthew, who played Chandler in the forever-loved sitcom, rarely posts online, making updates only once or twice a week and hardly ever about his Friends past.

But after spotting the new Friends Legos that’s about to his shops, he couldn’t help but comment, and said: Of the Friends @LEGO_Group, I think you can clearly see that Chandler is the most attractive.’

Well…he’s not wrong.

The iconic building toyset has been bringing to life some of TV and films most beloved sets, and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the show’s launch, Friends is joining the ranks.

Along with the six little recreations of Ross, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, Phoebe and Monica, there’s be Gunther in charge of his very own Central Perk.

Complete with a stage for Phoebe to sing Smelly Cat, the incredible brick recreation is already a must-have for fans and it’s not even out yet.

It’s also a hell of a lot cheaper than the real thing – with Monica and Rachel’s apartment, where a lot of the scenes are set, actually costing you £1.7 million to buy today.

Friends has been off air for the past 14 years after running for 10 seasons, and still remains to this day one of the most watched shows ever.

In fact, it was announced by Ofcom this week that it still accounts for 2% of all streaming in the UK, and remains the most streamed show for the second year in a row.

It’s not too surprising that it remains on top – considering that a psychologist has confirmed that shows like Friends are actually beneficial to your mental health.

Earlier this year, Marc Hekster for The Summit Clinic in Highgate revealed that the show’s repetitive nature, and ability to wrap up issues in the space of half an hour, has a soothing effect on you.

He told us: ‘This is about the healing nature of repetition. We see this in children, resolving child-like feelings and emotions by doing the same thing over and again – often to the incredulity of their parents.’

Friends is available on Netflix and airs on Comedy Central.

Princess Diana was set to star in The Bodyguard sequel before death and our minds are blown

Princess Diana was meant to be in The Bodyguard 2, and our minds are totally blown.

The first film – which was released in 1992 – saw Kevin Costner starring as a bodyguard hired to protect Whitney Houston from a stalker, and he revealed the late Royal was in talks to star opposite him in the sequel.

While promoting his new film, The Art Of Racing In The Rain, on Lorraine, he opened up about the possible casting.

When asked if there were discussions with the 36-year-old before her death, in 1997, he told Ross King: ‘Yeah, there was.

‘When we lost her, that was tragic. Incredibly tragic and private to me actually. I didn’t talk about, somebody else talked about it and that’s how that story bubbled up.’

He also explained it was actually Sarah Ferguson who tried to make the whole thing a reality.

‘Sarah was really instrumental in that,’ he continued. ‘Something I always admired about Sarah was how open she was to that idea and how supportive of that idea [she was] and clearly how much she liked Diana.

‘One of the things about Sarah, I don’t know if people know, she never once said, ‘What about me?’ She never joked about it, never hinted at it, she was like all about Diana.

‘It was really incredibly respectful the way she was.’

Princess Diana

Kevin previously opened up about his plans to get Diana in the film, revealing he discussed the role with her the day before she tragically died in a car crash.

‘I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone when she asked the questions,’ the 64-year-old recalled. ‘She goes, “Are we going to have like a kissing scene?” But she said it in a very respectful [way] — she was a little nervous because I think her life was very governed.’

He told Diana that ‘there’s going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that okay too.’

Lorraine continues on weekdays, at 8.30am, on ITV.

Pose cast hit out at cis actors taking trans roles in subtle dig at Scarlett Johansson: ‘Why play a role you don’t care about?’

The cast of Pose have questioned cisgender actors playing trans roles – subtly criticising actress Scarlett Johansson over her recent string of controversies.

Angel Bismark Curiel (who plays Papi on the show) sat alongside Pose stars Indya Moore, Mj Rodriguez, Hailie Sahar and Dyllon Burnside for a panel called Televised Revolution: The Beings of Pose, for The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard’s inaugural Pride Summit.

The conversation was about the rise in portrayals of LGBTQ+ stories and experiences, and the Dominican American actor made a point about the importance of authenticity.

Curiel told the audience that simply showing such stories ‘is not enough.’ Instead what is required is a real engagement with the community, which is done through casting decisions and representation in the writing room.

He said: ‘You have to make sure that the people who are putting it out there are living with those experiences.’

Sahar, who plays Lulu Abundance in the hit show, likened casting cisgender actors in queer and transgender roles to wearing blackface, whilst fellow actor Indya Moore, who identifies as non-binary, slammed straight actresses who desired playing trans characters and people of colour.

Their comments appear to be a thinly veiled barb towards Scarlett Johansson, who reluctantly pulled out of the film Rub & Tug last year after intense backlash for accepting a role as a trans man, Dante Tex Gill.

They said: ‘Why would you play a role you don’t care about? Or do you just want to expand and stretch and show people you can act?’

Moore also dragged Johannsson’s response to the backlash, in which she was quoted to saying: ‘As an actor I should be able to play any person, or any tree, or any animal, because that’s my job and the requirements of my job.’

The cast talked about portraying HIV on the show, and the importance of giving members of the community it impacts the most – black LGBTQ+ people – the attention and respect they deserve.

‘It’s truth, it’s statistics,’ Mj told the audience.

‘There’s still a stigma held around that and that’s why people don’t want to tell this story.’

Pose airs Tuesdays at 10pm on FX.

Remembering There’s Something About Miriam – the dating show that made Miriam Rivera star famous

$

There’s Something About Miriam, from an outsider perspective, was a very typical dating, Bachelor style show.

A group of ‘lads lads lads’ kind of guys from the UK, are all given the task to win over the heart of the beautiful and mysterious Miriam Rivera, with whoever winning her heart getting a cash prize to boot.

It all seemed so simple – until someone threw in the reveal of Miriam being a transgender woman right at the end and everything melted into a mess.

It’s easy to see where there might have been good intentions in there somewhere, aiming beyond the ‘there’s more to a person’ strategy that will set the show apart from its peers.

What it actually became was a circus that ridiculed everyone involved, from the men and their guttural response on discovering the truth, to Miriam, who was turned into the butt of a joke.

Miriam, 21 at the time, told winner Tom Rooke: ‘I tried to be honest with all of you, not just some of you. Yes, I am from Mexico, I am a model, and I’m 21.

Theres Something About Miriam finale reveal
After the show aired, Miriam moved and started a new life in Australia (Picture: Sky One)

‘But Tom, I really love spending time with you and kissing you. You see, I love men, and I love being a woman.

‘But… shh, quiet everybody, please, quiet. But you see, Tom… I am not a woman. I was born as a man.’

1.4million people watched the final episode’s ‘big reveal’ back in 2004, and even now remains one of the most shocking moments of reality TV possibly ever.

It became a national talking point and Miriam’s transition came under scrutiny as those watching were all in on the secret as it continued to air despite protests from the contestants involved.

On camera, Rooke accepted the prize money and a holiday with Miriam, but later rejected the prize and joined other contestants in a lawsuit against show creators Brighter Pictures.

In the suit, the men who took part in the series accused the show of inflicting psychological and emotional damage, and conspiracy to commit a sexual assault because they were not made aware of Miriam’s circumstances.

During the show, they were seen kissing and fondling Miriam during date nights.

Show creators later reached a deal with five of the six contestants that sued them, settling for £500,000.

Miriam, who was sadly found dead aged 38 this year, later moved to Australia, went on Big Brother and continued to model.

She was in New York when she passed away in circumstances her husbands believes were suspicious.

Lord of the Rings: Tolkien Estate bans Amazon TV series from changing canon so hardcore fans can rejoice

Lord of the Rings fans can rejoice after it was revealed that the Tolkien Estate has strict control over how far Amazon TV can stretch its artistic interpretation of the upcoming new series of the show.

Earlier this week Metro.co.uk reported that the television series, directed by J A Bayona along with showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay has been confirmed to have 20 episodes, and now a Tolkien scholar has revealed that the estate of the late writer has banned it from deviating from canon.

Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey recently interviewed with German fansite Deutsche Tolkien, where he revealed that the state refused the series to be set anywhere other than the Second Age.
A quick history of Middle Earth: Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning film trilogy was set in Middle Earth’s Third Age.

The prologue films, The Fellowship of the Ring, was set at the end of the Second Age, which explained how Sauron was defeated the first time around.

The Second Age is incredibly long – 3441 years to be exact – so the Amazon series will take place in that time period, in the years where Sauron rises to power.

frodo in lord of the rings
The series will follow the first rise of Sauron (Picture: Warner)

Bad luck, Aragorn fans. We won’t be seeing the young king-to-be in the series, as that wouldn’t follow canon.

Shippey explained: ‘The Tolkien Estate will insist that the main shape of the Second Age is not altered. Sauron invades Eriador, is forced back by a Númenorean expedition, and returns to Númenor. There he corrupts the Númenoreans and seduces them to break the ban of Valar. All this, the course of history, must remain the same.’

For those wondering how then, Amazon could switch up the series? Two words: New characters.

Actor Viggo Mortensen is shown in the role of Aragorn in lord of the rings
No baby Aragorn guys – sorry (Picture: AP)

‘You can add new characters and ask a lot of questions, like: What has Sauron done in the meantime? Where was he after Morgoth was defeated?’ Shippey said, adding: ‘Theoretically, Amazon can answer these questions by inventing answers, since Tolkien did not describe it. But it must not contradict anything which Tolkien did say. That’s what Amazon has to watch out for. It must be canonical, it is impossible to change the boundaries which Tolkien has created, it is necessary to remain “Tolkienian”.’

The scholar said the show will remain firmly in the Second Age, as the first and third are ‘off-limits.’

‘Events could be mentioned at the most of they explain the events of the Second Age,’ Shippey clarified.

‘But if it is not described or mentioned in the Lord of the Rings or in the appendices, they probably cannot use it. So the question is to what extent they may hint at events that took place, for example, in the First Age, but still continue to affect the Second Age.’

The series’ writers, he concluded, have a ‘minefield’ to explore in what they can and can’t use.

‘You have to tread carefully, but at the same time there is quite a lot of scope for interpretation and free invention,’ he said.

The Lord of the Rings is expected to be released on Amazon in 2021.

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy has a theory on why people are so attracted to Tommy Shelby

Cillian Murphy reveals why people love his Peaky Blinders character (Picture: BBC; Getty)

We’re just a couple of weeks away from season five of Peaky Blinders – which is said to be ‘disgustingly violent’, and it’s set to be a whole different ball game for Cillian Murphy’s character, Tommy Shelby.

The actor, 43, revealed that Tommy would be taking up a seat as an MP, the establishment he formerly fought against, but the reason people love the character so much is that he they can sympathise with him.

He explained: ‘Well there’s that wonderful contradiction or conflict or balance between being a member of parliament, a Labour member of parliament, and then also being the head of a criminal gang – it’s brilliant drama.

‘I think the reason people are attracted to Tommy is because he is very, very charismatic; you don’t agree with what he does, but you desperately try to understand.

‘It’s never one or the other, we feel sympathy I hope for him sometimes, we feel anger for him and revulsion, but I’ve never seen him as one or the other, and I wouldn’t transpose my set of morals on to a fictional character like that because then I couldn’t play him.’

Cillian also told LADbible that he’s grateful for the chance to play such an iconic character for so long, explaining: ‘It’s an absolute gift, the character.

Season five sees Tommy become an MP, one of the things he was previously against (Picture: Matt Squire/Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd. 2019)

‘I never anticipated having the opportunity to play the character for this length of time and to have the privilege of working on such great material, for people to have so much affection for the show, for it to have such reach, culturally and everything else.

‘I love it. I mean, it’s exhausting, but I would never moan about it because it’s an actor’s dream, really.’

The new series will also see Tommy go toe to toe with far right fascist Oswald Mosley, played by Sam Claflin, and finds himself battling an ideology rather than a physical threat this time around.

Peaky Blinders returns to BBC One on 25 August.

Britain’s longest married couple celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary on This Morning today – and thanked cycling and patience as the secrets to their long marriage.

Jack and Joan first met at their local cycling club, with both joining on the same date and being together ever since.

When asked if it was love at first sight, John immediately told Lisa Snowdon yes – but Joan wasn’t so convinced, and said bluntly: ‘Well, I think it grows. You get used to each other and I’ll leave it with him.’

For their first date, they explained: ‘We didn’t go for dinner then, you didn’t have the money then. We probably cycled.’

Though don’t expect them to know the secret to their success as Joan joked: ‘If I really knew that, I’d been a millionaire.’

‘He doesn’t have a temper, and I have a temper,’ she later admitted. ‘I’m calm now, I’ve learned to be calm.’

As viewers watched from home, it was clear that they were winning over the nation’s hearts as well as each other during the rare Oak-level anniversary.

Taking to Twitter, the pair were praised for being ‘goals’ in their tight as ever relationship.

During the interview, the pair were given a bench to commemorate their special day by the This Morning team.

Every year, Jack buys Joan pink carnations to mark the occasion, to match the ones that were in their bouquets.

‘Patience, because Jack is very patient, and I wasn’t but you learn to be and you learn to live with each other in this day and age especially,’ Joan added.

‘Give and take.’

We’re getting chills already (Picture: Jose Haro/Netflix)

David Tennant, Hayley Atwell and Rochenda Sandall are among the killer cast of Netflix’s new procedural drama Criminal and we can’t wait.

Filling the Line of Duty shaped hole in our lives, the 12-part crime series takes place entirely within the confines of the police interview suite across four different countries and will be arriving on 20 September.

Netflix has managed to get some pretty huge names on board for the UK’s portion of the show, which will be directed by Jim Field Smith and looks to explore the ‘stripped down, cat-and-mouse drama’ between detectives and criminals.

David Tennant is set to star in the series, making a return to the detective drama genre six years since he originated the role of DI Alec Hardy in ITV’s Broadchurch.

Marvel star Hayley Atwell will also appear in the show, along with Youssef Kerkour, who recently played refugee Sami in Rufus Jones’ comedy Home and Netflix fave Clare-Hope Ashitey, star of Seven Seconds.

The regular cast also looks pretty amazing, with Katherine Kelly, Nicholas Pinnock, Mark Stanley and Shubham Saraf all set to star.

Line of Duty superfans will also spot series four’s Lee Ingleby among the cast, as well as everyone’s favourite baddie Rochenda Sandall, who played gangster Lisa McQueen in the most recent series.

The show will also look at police proceedings in France, Spain and Germany, with each episode telling a different story written and directed by the country’s finest talent and starring its biggest actors.

Each episode will be recorded in the country’s original language, with viewers from around the world able to dub the speech or use subtitles based on their viewing preferences.

Criminal is set to be a huge hit when it drops in September, thanks not only to its impressive British cast, but the popularity of foreign language dramas on the streaming platform.

German language thriller Dark has been called the country’s answer to Stranger Things and its second series has a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes since dropping in June.

Meanwhile, criminal drama Money Heist – or La Casa de Papel in its native Spanish – smashed records across the world when it returned for its third series in June.

More than 34 million accounts watched the show in its opening week, making it the most watched non-English language show on the platform and one of Netflix’s biggest exports of any language.

This Morning welcome back ‘absolute legends’ Richard and Judy 18 years after their last appearance

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan made a triumphant return to This Morning – 18 years after they last presented the show.

The married presenting duo admitted it felt weird being back on the sofa, especially as they were sitting on the other side this time to be interviewed.

With Mollie King and Rochelle Humes on the presenters’ side of the chat, Richard and Judy looked like they’d never left as they sat and spoke about their time on the show.

Launching This Morning back in 1988 (a year before Rochelle was even born), Richard and Judy paved the way for the show we know and love today.

The pair decided to leave the show in 2001 to launch their own talk show on Channel 4, being replaced with a carousel of changing faces on the show before Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton became permanent in 2002.

But that didn’t stop them from jumping in when they could on their previous hosting duties for old times’ sake.

‘Isn’t this weird, being interviewed on This Morning?’ Richard quipped. ‘It’s like walking through a mirror!

‘I keep wanting to thank you and then turn to the camera!’

Richard, who has become a semi-frequent star on Good Morning Britain, joked about feeling fine in the studio seeing as it was right next door.

Judy then stole the outro from her husband and joked: ‘You’re not Piers Morgan you know, and I’m not Susanna Reid!’

In a jokey huff, Richard then sat back and moped: ‘I would’ve done it better.’

Better luck next time, Richard!

Viewers were left delighted at the pair’s return – arguing there was no messing with legends.

In the meantime, the show had another first with Rochelle Hume and Mollie King reuniting for the first time since their music career together in the Saturdays.

Among the interviews were Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, fresh from their time on Love Island, and a couple who celebrated their 80th anniversary.

Taking the crown of ‘longest marriage ever’, the pair met thanks to a cycling club in the 30s and remained together ever since.

When asked for the secrets, Joan said of her marriage to Jack: ‘If I really knew that, I’d been a millionaire.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.

Love Island’s Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague shrug off online trolls who doubt their romance: ‘We’re in our bubble and happy’

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have spoken out on their relationship after Love Island – killing off any thoughts that trolls had been dampening their romance.

The couple’s romance has come under scrutiny in the time since the show aired, with Molly being looked after by bodyguards after bullies and online taunts.

Despite rumours they had broken up days after leaving the villa, the pair put on a united front to shut down suspicion on This Morning.

And quite frankly, if you don’t like it, then they don’t care.

Speaking to Mollie King and Rochelle Humes, Molly-Mae said: ‘I think because we are in such a bubble right now, and we are so happy, and we’re just so great together, I’ve not really been paying much attention to it.’

‘You just have to focus on this and each other and yourself, and prioritise the things that are important,’ she added. ‘And the public’s perception…Everyone’s going to have an opinion, and we know that, that’s fine.’

‘We knew that going in to the show that when we come out, some people’s opinions might be positive, some [not],’ she added.

Tommy agreed with his girlfriend and said: ‘When you’re in the public eye, everybody like Molly says, is going to have an opinion.

‘But the only opinions that matters are who’s in the relationship, and the family’s.

‘As long as you feel good and know what’s going on, that’s all that matters.’

Awww you guys!

Tommy and Molly’s appearance completes almost all the villa finalists making an appearance on the show this week.

While Maura was dishing out love advice via the phone in, and even encouraging a woman to ditch her fella for good, Ovie was joined by his mum as he cooked up dinner in the kitchen.

Winner Amber was also there with her mum talking about her life after the win – as rumours circulate she’s getting ready to star on Dancing On Ice next.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge admits we almost never knew of Hot Priest as Series 2 was never meant to happen

Phoebe Waller Bridge has revealed that she never originally planned to make a second series of Fleabag, which doesn’t bear thinking about.

The Killing Eve creator appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where she confessed that a two series run of Fleabag was never initially on the table.

‘I wasn’t [going to do a second series],’ Phoebe said, ‘and I was very smug about not coming back because I thought I had a lot of artistic integrity.’

And while a timeline where we never met the Hot Priest sounds like living hell, the 34 year old was quick to explain her reasoning.

‘The first season had a proper ending in my mind and it was based on a play and it was adapted to the same ending,’ she told Jimmy, referencing the one-woman play which returns to the West End this month.

‘Fleabag talks to the camera a lot in the first season and by the end she stops talking to the camera… I thought, “unless I can re-invent a reason for why she talks to the camera again, I can’t see how I can justify coming back.”

No chance of a third series then? (Picture: BBC/Two Brothers/Kevin Baker)

‘Going back to the second season with the same persona even though [her family] know her dark secret seemed dishonest to the camera.’

Fortunately for us, Phoebe had a pretty impressive trick up her sleeve to justify the show’s return in the form of Andrew Scott’s Hot Priest (We promise we’ll stop talking about him one day.)

As the love interest in the second series, the Sherlock actor joined Fleabag in breaking the fourth wall, acknowledging her looks to camera for the first time.

‘When I came up with the trick of another character seeing that she looks to the camera, that’s when the whole thing cracked open again,’ Phoebe proudly explained.

Ever since the second series aired on Amazon Video in the US, Fleabag has become an international phenomenon, receiving 11 nominations in the upcoming Emmy Awards

All of the show’s female stars have been nominated for their performances, but many fans were disappointed to hear that Andrew Scott hadn’t been nominated for his role in the second series.

Speaking about his newfound status as a sex symbol, the Irish actor revealed that the extra attention had been a lot to handle.

‘‘It’s flattering to a certain degree,’ Andrew explained about the Hot Priest title. ‘That’s become the story, but the audience isn’t required to find the priest hot; they’re required to believe that Fleabag finds the priest hot.

‘If somebody tells you, “I want you to look at this person through the female gaze and I’m going to tell you they’re sexy,” you’re going to go, “Oh, maybe this guy’s sexy.”’

He added: ‘It’s extraordinary. We’re just big children who are very easily manipulated.’

Maybe we are being tricked… but we definitely still think he’s hot.

Game Of Thrones star Natalia Tena didn’t like season 8 finale: ‘It feels like it’s been written by different people’

Three months on, the Game Of Thrones season eight finale still has everyone up in arms over how the HBO epic ended.

And that includes some of the cast members.

Natalia Tena, who played the wildling Osha on the show, has admitted she ‘ranted’ for an hour about how much she disliked the finale, saying she didn’t understand it.

The 34-year-old was joined by Faye Marsay, aka The Waif, on Kate Thornton’s Yahoo podcast White Wine Question Time, when Kate asked the girls whether they were happy with the Game Of Throne finale.

Natalia, who appeared in 16 episodes of the show, said: ‘I liked it to the bit where [Arya] stabs him in the heart, the White Walker.

‘I liked up to then. But after that… I feel like… I just didn’t understand it. The calibre of writing towards the end, and the plots, and everything that happened, and how they wrapped up, compared to any other season, any other bit, it just feels like it’s been written by different people.

‘It doesn’t make sense. For me.’

Faye Marsay as The Waif Game of Thrones
Faye reckons the backlash was inevitable (Picture: HBO)

She continued: ‘I was a few glasses of wine in when I watched that. I’d binge watched the whole thing, but I ended up… my boyfriend had to leave the boat, because I was ranting for an hour at him about how much I didn’t like it.

‘Then I rang my friend to rant to him.’

Kate asked: ‘And you still haven’t made peace with it?’, with Natalia replying: ‘No, I’m cool. It’s done. I don’t think I’d go as far as petition. I think they had to end it, I just don’t understand…’

However, Faye was much more of a peacemaker in the situation.

The 32-year-old said: ‘People are always going to be p***ed off with how it ended though. The fans are such fanatics, and that’s wonderful, and thank God that we’ve had jobs in that world, but I always feel like whatever you write, they’re still going to be annoyed by it.

arya
Natalia did like Arya being a badass (Picture: HBO)

‘I know Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff], the showrunners, well and they’re wonderful talented human beings, and whether it’s p***ed people off or not, Game of Thrones did the job of being an amazing piece of television. And so in that respect it did its job, whether they like the ending or not, it did its job.’

Natalia isn’t the only Game Of Thrones star who was peeved about the events of season eight, as Conleth Hill looked less than pleased during a read-through as he discovered Varys would be killed.

However, the majority of the cast have backed the way the showrunners chose to end the show.

Speaking at Comic Con, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, aka Jaime Lannister, said: ‘‘It was surprising, the absurdity of the online petition. Of course, HBO is going to change the whole thing, because that’s the power of the internet.

‘Every season, there was a huge controversy, from Ned Stark to the Red Wedding. Obviously, the end… I feel so lucky to have met so many people, fans, realising this show brought so many people together.

‘When it comes to an end, it’s going to p*** you off no matter what, because it’s the end. And that’s alright. If you hated the ending, or you loved it? That’s great – just don’t call people names.’

Backlash or not, Game Of Thrones’ final season received a whopping 32 Emmy nominations, including one for Gwendoline Christie, after she submitted her own name for consideration for her role as Brienne of Tarth.

How The Society’s Sam holds key to Elle leaving her abusive relationship with Campbell in season 2

The Society - Elle and Campbell at town meeting
Elle has made desperate attempts to leave Campbell but always returns to him (Picture: Netflix)

As we wait patiently for season two of The Society, there are several worries and problems that need to be solved – and for us, top of that list, is Elle’s abuse at the hands of Campbell.

Trapped in a town that they can’t get out of, Elle found solace in bad boy Campbell but has since been tormented and abused to the point that she tried (and failed) to kill him.

But despite her best efforts, Campbell (a diagnosed psychopath) always wins, and she keeps going back to him over misplaced feelings of love.

It’s something that is all too common in abusive relationships – so asking relationship psychologist Zoe Coetzee, we’ve asked for advice in how to identify ways to help her out.

(If you feel like you’re in an abusive relationship, the following advice she gives could be of some use to you.)

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Zoe, in-house expert at EliteSingles.com, explains: ‘Elle and Campbell’s relationship in The Society goes beyond being a toxic relationship. In fact, I would go as far as to call it an abusive relationship. He has been diagnosed as a psychopath and uses control to torment her, cultivates fear and even physically hurts her.

‘Campbell also chooses Elle because she is an outcast – so she’s a vulnerable target without a strong social network around her.’

The Society -Campbell swears at brother
As Campbell’s brother, kind-hearted Sam knows better than most how to handle him (Picture: Netflix)

‘However, choosing to leave an abusive and toxic relationship is always possible,’ she asserts, adding that a clear decision, and having a plan in place, are essential to getting her away safely.

‘Elle firstly needs to decide that, no matter what, she has to leave Campbell,’ Zoe says. ‘She will therefore need to build allies around her to help and to create a safe space for her. The first step can be reaching out to people and speaking her truth.’

Thankfully for Elle, there is someone within New Ham who is perfect to help her – and in some ways, has already done so without realizing it.

Campbell’s kind-hearted brother, Sam.

As Zoe explains: ‘Sam has already told the story of Campbell killing their pet bird to several people. He knows how cruel Campbell can really be.

‘By identifying people who will listen to her, believe her and protect her, she can create safe exit plan. Starting with Sam, who is a good person and knows the truth about his brother, she can build this network.’

‘By asking Sam and Becca to help her, they could also reach out to other characters, like Grizz and his search party, who can all stand together to keep Elle safe,’

The Society
Can Elle find the help she needs? (Picture: Netflix)

‘She also has a secret card up her sleeve in Allie, as we know she whispered something secret to at the end of season one,’ Zoe continues.

‘I think they will be a force to be reckoned with in Season 2, when Allie is bound to make a reappearance, and Elle can take the necessary steps to safely step away from Campbell’s toxic clutches.’

While The Society is a fictional sci-fi teen drama, the topics on which they hit remain to be incredibly real – with a new survey discovering young women in early relationships being the most likely to experience intimate partner violence in the US (according to LoveIsRespect.org).

In fact, 43% of college age women have reported experiencing abusive relationship behaviours with a partner.

So if you are stuck in a similar situation, there are people ready and willing to help you – you just have to ask.

The Boys new season promises to go ‘deeper’

A second series of The Boys is already in development (Picture: Amazon Prime)

The second series of The Boys will be ‘more intense, more insane, more wrenching,’ than the first, its executive producer has revealed.

Speaking about the next series of the Seth Rogan-backed superhero adaptation, which dropped on Amazon Video in July, Eric Kripke showed that he had high hopes for the show’s trajectory.

‘I’m so beyond thrilled with the response to season 1,’ he said. ‘And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on season 2.’

The show was praised by viewers and critics alike for providing a new perspective on the superhero genre, something Eric wants to explore in more depth in the next lot of episodes.

He explained: ‘I don’t want season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season.

‘It’s my one and only goal to make season 2 even better than season 1.’

Chace Crawford in The Boys
The series has been a surprise hit for Amazon (Picture: Amazon)

The Boys has been something of a surprise hit for Amazon, who revealed that the show has been one of its most watched original programmes ever – despite only airing on the platform at the end of July!

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, the show examines a world where superheroes are treated as celebrities, using the supernatural framework to explore the negatives of fame.

The impressive ensemble cast includes Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, who stars as a pretty nasty superhero involved in a dark sexual assault plot.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the storyline, the actor revealed that while the scene was in the comic book, it was a late addition to the script.

‘It was definitely uncomfortable to film,’ he told us. ‘That scene wasn’t in the original script I read; it wasn’t in the audition or the scene I read. They came to me, “We want to put this scene in that’s in the source material and it’s a pretty big deal.”’

Stressing the importance of the scene, Chace continued: ‘Just because it’s a superhero show doesn’t mean we can’t talk about real world issues. It’s a big jumping point for her character arc and supports the tag line: never meet your heroes.’

Peaky Blinders’ Shelby Brothers always have a plan – but no one knows the end game of the Birmingham gangster series quite like Steven Knight.

The creator and sole writer of the show, Knight has revealed that he already knows exactly how the show is going to end, and has planned it for years.

Only problem? He hasn’t quite figured out yet how to get there.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other outlets ahead of the show’s release, Steven said: ‘I don’t ever set off with a plan [when I write] – I set off with a destination.

‘The main destination is the end of the whole thing, which is the start of the Second World War, and I know what scene that’s going to be and I know how it’s going to end.’

‘So, any journey, the most important thing is your know where you’re going, and where you’re headed – but on the way you can do whatever you want,’ he added.

Peaky Blinders has been confirmed for two more seasons, bringing the show through to seven in total – and the upcoming episodes have been bumped to BBC One primetime status. So you know they’re going to be good.

Season 5 will start at the end of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, meaning there’s just 10 years to go in the Shelby timeline before Peaky Blinders is over.

Therefore, it appears likely that season seven will be the show’s last – if the destination, as Knight claims, is the start of WWII in 1939.

‘The ambition was always to get to the Second World War, whether or not we’d ever get there I never knew,’ he admitted. ‘I couldn’t. I banked on a hope that it was get enough airtime and enough screen time.’

Tommy’s responsibilities as an MP are bringing up a host of new problems (Picture: BBC/Ben Blackall)

‘I just want it to be a family between the wars, so it starts at the end of the first and ends with the beginning of the second,’ he continued.

‘It’s not a well-trodden pattern- those years aren’t really examined so much, but I find them really fascinating. It’s what’s caused us to be us.’

With Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby juggling more business deals and dodgy dealings than ever thanks to his new position as an MP of Birmingham South, it appears that his past as a WWI veteran will be catching up with him.

But ultimately, while he may be tormented as his PTSD continues to take hold of his brain, it could work out all for the best – at least, in Steven Knight’s master plans.

Speaking about his iconic, three-piece suit wearing character, Knight explained what motivated the now hardened criminal.

‘At the beginning I always had a thought that we start with someone who was dead basically, switched off. That’s Tommy,’ he explained.

‘When we glimpse at him before the war, he had social ideals, he worked with horses, he was quite a colic sort of vision. And then the First World War came and destroyed all that.’

‘I wanted to start him dead,’ Knight continues. ‘Before the first episode I’ve always imagined him putting a gun to his head and then thought “oh, I can’t be f***d [to kill myself].” Not for any reason, just that he wanted to carry on.’

He then teased: ‘What I wanted to do over the course was slowly bring him back to life, rehabilitate him and get him to feel. So by the end…’

Peaky Blinders returns 25 August at 9pm on BBC One.

The Boys is now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video (Picture: Amazon)

Superhero TV series The Boys landed on Amazon at the end of July, and it didn’t take long for critics to praise it for taking the genre to a new place.

The series is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, and follows a group of superheroes who band together to take down other, more corrupt, superheros.

So, as we eagerly await the arrival of season two, here’s what we know so far about its release date…

When is season two of The Boys coming out?

Sadly no official release date has been announced for The Boys season two.

Not to worry though, because filming for the second season has already begun, which likely means we’ll be seeing The Boys again next summer.

The Amazon Prime Video series, which follows ‘a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame’, was renewed for a second season before the first one even hit the streaming platform.

It’s already become one of Amazon’s most watched original shows ever.

The show is based on as series of comic books by the same name, and the executive producers include the likes of Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen.

The cast meanwhile is helmed by Lord Of The Rings’ Karl Urban, who plays Billy, the leader of The Boys.

The show also features Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, and Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve.

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy hints at Tommy’s deteriorating ‘fragile’ mental state in season five

Tommy’s biggest enemy is Tommy (Picture: Robert Viglasky/BBC)

Peaky Blinders is set to return to BBC One later on this month and Cillian Murphy has revealed that the titular star might be sliding into mental instability in the upcoming fifth season.

Cillian Murphy, who plays MP for Birmingham and TBC-reformed gangster, talked about Tommy Shelby’s weakening mental state as he enters Whitehall carrying the weight of his past.

He said: ‘I think this year feels to me, a bit more about the inside of Tommy’ head, a little more, whereas last year was very much like external forces, you know?’

Speaking to Digital Spy about Tommy’s challenges –which appear to be coming from both external forces in the form of fascist Oswald Mosley, and internal ones has he attempts to extricate himself from London’s criminal underbelly, he explained: ‘In the guise of the Mafia, it was pretty conventional what he was dealing with. There was obviously, his own, sort of, psyche and his mental fragility, I think that’s always been apparent.

‘But this season it seems to me that it’s more explicitly that, more about his wrestling with his own head and that’s fantastic to play.’

Cillian Murphy (Tommy Shelby) in Peaky Blinders

Show creator Steven Knight went on to say that season five will have him face a ‘nemesis…in this one, his biggest enemy is himself.’

He added: ‘What I’m trying to do is…the post-traumatic stress will never go away, and it never does, because that’s the reality of it.’

Cillian agreed. ‘I think it probably all stems back to that [PTSD from the war].

‘I think we’ve seen in terms of the relationships now, he’s become a father a couple of times and you can see how he’s trying to wrestle with that and the fact that these men really just medicated themselves. You know, didn’t have any sort of actual, proper help.’

Peaky Blinders season five returns to BBC One on Sunday, August 25 at 9pm.
