Martin Freeman admits to regrets about previous acting roles but keeps schtum on which ones

Martin Freeman has admitted he regrets some of his previous acting roles.

‘I think sometimes I’ve been wrong not to feel that [wariness] in the past,’ the Sherlock actor told Digital Spy.

‘I’ve taken decisions in my professional life where, in hindsight – not many, but occasionally in hindsight – where I probably should have thought of that.’

However, the actor had no reservations when it came to stepping into the shoes of Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher for new drama A Confession.

Fulcher is a Wiltshire police officer investigating the murder of missing 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan in 2011.

Desperate to stop the murderer, Steve breached police protocol in order to elicit a confession from the murder suspect. The breach invalidated the suspect’s testimony and threw out the whole case, costing Fulcher his reputation and career.

However, the officer’s decision did ultimately lead to the killer, taxi driver Christopher Halliwell, being locked up for the murder of Sian and another victim, Becky Godden in 2007.

‘My sympathy and my empathy is certainly with Steve Fulcher’ (Picture: ITV)

While playing such a divisive figure whose actions had large real-world implications will naturally cause some backlash, Martin argued that it was worth the risk.

‘Someone will be offended by this,’ the 47-year-old reasoned, ‘Some will think we’ve gone too far, or not far enough.

‘But for me, it’s a very human way of telling the story of… well, obviously the tragedy is young women being murdered. That’s the real tragedy.’

Martin Freeman stars in the six-part series alongside Imelda Staunton as the mother of Becky Godden and This Country’s Charlie Cooper as Sian’s boyfriend Kevin.

The actor admitted that he hoped viewers of the show would share his empathy for the police officer.

‘My sympathy and my empathy is certainly with Steve Fulcher, let’s put it that way,’ Martin said, ‘and not just because I’ve played him. I don’t know how anyone could say he did the wrong thing, morally.

A Confession will air on ITV in September.

Strictly’s Len Goodman tells Motsi Mabuse to ‘judge with integrity’ ahead of her debut

Strictly Come Dancing’s iconic ex-head judge Len Goodman reckons Motsi Mabuse is going to be a perfect fit for the judging panel – but worries about people not giving her a chance.

The pro dancer, whose sister Oti Mabuse competes in the annual dance-off, has joined the judges’ panel for this year, already receiving criticism that her relationship with her sister will affect her scoring.

It’s something that Len – who was head judge for 12 years on the show before stepping down – sympathises with, telling her to judge ‘with integrity’ and she’ll be fine.

‘That’s going to be the hardest thing for Motsi. Can you imagine if Oti is in the final two in the dance-off?,’ Len Goodman told The Sun.

‘Whatever decision she makes Motsi will get criticism. If she puts Oti through then people will say she’s doing her sister a favour,’ he continued.

‘If she votes her off they will say she didn’t want to be seen to be keeping it in the family.’

Len Goodman

Motsi’s new position on the show comes after working as a highly-praised judge on the German version of the series, Let’s Dance.

She stepped in to Darcey Bussell’s shoes after she announced her shock departure from the series in April this year.

But given her history with the format, Len reckons Motsi will be fine, and gave his seal of approval for the new judging line up as having a ‘good balance’.

‘All you can do is make the decision based on what you see and try to act with integrity,’ he said.

‘I’m sure Motsi will do that and if that means having to vote Oti off then that’s what she’ll have to do.’

Motsi will be making her debut later this year as the annual fan favourite returns to our screens.

This year’s celebrities have already been announced – with Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, Anneka Rice, comedian Chris Ramsey and sports commentator Alex Scott among the panel.

Now it’s just a waiting game to see who’s fancy-footed enough to take home the glitterball.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.

Davina McCall will be back on our screens presenting This Morning this Friday.

The TV personality hasn’t hosted live TV in absolutely ages but will be steering the good ship TM alongside Rochelle Humes for a one-off special slot.

ITV confirmed Davina’s return to the This Morning on Twitter with the declaration: ‘The host with the most is rolling into the hot seat. Screen queen Davina McCall is back as your guest presenter’ and a video of her previous times on the show.

Davina is the latest in a run of stars who have been stepping in to fill in the Friday void while Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take a summer break.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have taken over the leading duties, while Rochelle has friends of the show join her on Friday’s episodes.

Previous co-stars have included her Saturdays pal Mollie King and Rylan Clark-Neal.

Davina has previously stepped in to help host the show for Holly after she called in sick.

While This Morning continues to reign supreme over daytime telly, it’s been rumoured that they’re about to face stiff competition from a newcomer on Channel 4.

But with new faces joining the show including Love Island’s Maura Higgins as an agony aunt,  it’s clear they’ve got more than a few tricks up their sleeve to keep the show afloat.

Meanwhile, Davina has been keeping herself busy of late thanks to her growing fitness empire and blooming new relationship with hairdresser Michael Douglas following her split from her husband after 17 years.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV1.

Jeremy Clarkson is back to make more millionaires (Picture: Stellify Media)
Jeremy Clarkson is willing to put his money where his mouth is and cough up some cash himself if he makes a contestant lose on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The new host of the long-running quiz show has been put on the spot several times now thanks to the new Ask The Host lifeline that gives him the opportunity to put forward his answer on the contestants behalf.

Currently (well, as far as he remembers), the star hasn’t lost anyone any money as a result of his answers…but by his own admission hasn’t been a massive help either.

So, would the millionaire himself be willing to write a cheque if his gambles come at a cost?

‘If it was a low amount – in the hundreds – definitely. If I got it wrong though I’d have an uncomfortable night,’ he told The Sun.

The series is about to make a comeback for a new week of intense quizzing in the hope of making some members of the public that bit richer.

While we don’t know if any millionaires are made this time round, Jeremy has teased that, at least for him, he’ll be doing better this time round.

He added: ‘I’ve never cost anyone money. I’ve said I don’t know if I don’t.

‘But this time round I’ve been better. I’ve been lucky. They’ve asked me questions I’ve known the answers to.’

If the multi-millionaire can’t make any more millionaire pals on the show, we’re sure he can weep his sorrows away in the uber-fancy chateau he’s rented thanks to that snazzy Amazon paycheque for The Grand Tour.

It’s not all roses though, as he revealed The Grand Tour team came close to death filming season 4 in Vietnam and Cambodia after being struck by a catastrophic monsoon.

Alongside his co-stars Jeremy was rowing a boat in one of the deadliest seas on the planet when extreme weather caused them to abandon filming.

He explained four people had been killed just ‘inches away’ from where they were recording just days before.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire returns next week on ITV.

The best detective shows on Netflix as we prepare for Mindhunter series two

Netflix detective shows
Here are the best detective shows to watch on Netflix

Detective drama Mindhunter returns this Friday, allowing us to take a further intriguing dive into the serial killer psyche from within the 1970s.

With David Fincher on board, the first series proved to be hugely popular and a second series was commissioned within weeks of the first airing back in autumn 2019.

But since then, it’s been pretty much radio silence on the second series, which drops on 16 August without a trailer having aired.

But with Jonathan Groff back on board as special agent Holden Ford and cult leader Charles Manson promised to appear in the new batch of episodes, we plan on devouring this series in a single sitting.

If you too find yourself feeling lost on Saturday having sat through ten hours of intense detective drama and don’t know what to do next (or if you have more self-restraint and want something to fill gaps between the show), these are some of the best procedural dramas Netflix has to offer…

Sherlock

Sherlock BBC
12 feature length episodes? Sign us up (Picture: BBC)

You have to start with a classic, don’t you? Steven Moffat’s 2010 adaptation of Sherlock Holmes placed the titular detective in contemporary London, bringing the ‘mind palace’ to life with brilliant cinematography, editing and a willingness to embrace technology.

The show made Benedict Cumberbatch a star and introduced the world to Andrew Scott (hello, Hot Priest) and was genuinely ambitious. All four series are available to stream and at 90 minutes each, that’s essentially 12 feature length films. What’s not to love?

Luther

Idris Elba in Luther
Violence! Crime! Drama! (Picture: Sarah Dunn/BBC)

2010 was clearly a big year for BBC crime drama, as it was also the first time we met Idris Elba’s John Luther, a sometimes violent detective working in the London’s serious crime unit.

Fast paced and dramatic, Ruth Wilson, Rose Leslie and Pam Ferris make up the impressive supporting cast across five series.

Marcella

Anna Friel as Marcella
Good coat, good crime solving skills (Picture: ITV)

Marcella sees ITV try their hand at producing a ‘scandi-noir’ series and brings the knitted jumper to the UK, with Anna Friel playing the titular former detective who returns to the job in order to solve an intriguing open case. The first eight episode series is available to stream now.

Lucifer

Lucifer Netflix
The #SaveLucifer campaign saw the show relocate to Netflix from Fox (Picture: Netflix)

Within the category of Detective Series Dramatically Named After a Singular Character, Lucifer is definitely the campest of the lot.

Miranda’s Tom Ellis stars as Satan, who abandons hell to move to Los Angeles and become a consultant for the LAPD, forming an unlikely crime-solving duo with a detective called Chloe.

Mixing horror with humour and police procedural with super powers, with Lucifer, the devil really is in the details.

Line of Duty

Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure and Martin Compston
Watch AC-12 in action (Picture: BBC)

It was one of the BBC’s most watched shows when it aired for a fifth series earlier this year, but it’s easy to forget that Line of Duty started way back in 2012.

Known for its dense dialogue and use of jargon, the show is often considered one of the best police dramas of all time and provides an unflinching and realistic look at life within the police station.

Catch up on the first four series on Netflix and you’ll soon be spotting your SCGs from your RCUs.

To All The Boys surprise fans with sequel release date – and reveal third film is already being filmed for Netflix

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has finally revealed when the sequel will be coming our way – before dropping the shocker that a third has already begun filming.

The book adaptation, originally written by Jenny Han, will have the entire trilogy committed to film, and Noah Centineo and Lana Condor have made our hearts burst with the cute announcement video.

Holding cards a la Love Actually, the pair who play leading couple Lara-Jean and Peter Kavinsky started teasing what was to come.

While it seems like a while away, they revealed that the sequel, PS I Still Love You, will drop on Netflix in February.

But not done with making fans across the world super-hyped, they then added that not only is a third film coming – it’s already in production!

That explains that amazing boat trip the entire cast seemed to be on recently.

Noah, Lara and Jordan announced the next two films are on their way (Picture: Netflix)

While everyone who watched the first film can agree they found Lara-Jean and Peter absolute goals, things are about to get complicated with the arrival of John Ambrose McClaren, another of Lara-Jean’s former crushes.

Jordan Fisher, who is taking over the role after the fleeting appearance in the end credits of the first movie by Jordan Burtchett, joined Lana and Noah in the video.

‘You guys have been so loving and supportive and patient. So let’s just say, our movie is coming soon,’ they teased.

To All Of The Boys I've Loved Before
We’re ready for all the Kavinsky/Covey adorableness next Valentine’s Day (Picture: Netflix)

Noah then gives a cheeky wink before revealing: ‘What, you want more?’

They then reveal that PS I Love You will launch on 12 February, just before Valentine’s Day, while Always and Forever Lara Jean is coming soon too.

PS I Still Love You’s story was already partly incorporated into the first film, as the book follows the fallout of ‘that’ tape from the ski trip, while John Ambrose rekindles his friendship with Lara-Jean, much to Peter’s annoyance.

Will they stay true to the books? Or will there be a twist we don’t see coming?

Guess it we’ll have to wait til Feb to find out…

The OA fans beg Netflix to bring series back for season 3 as they launch #SaveTheOA campaign

The series has been cancelled after two seasons by Netflix (Picture: Netflix)

Following on from the recent news that streaming service Netflix has cancelled original series The OA, fans are now undertaking a campaign in order to save it.

The mystery drama starred Brit Marling (who also co-produced the series) as Prairie Johnson, a young woman who resurfaces after having gone missing for seven years.

She since referred to herself as The OA, and can now see, despite being blind prior to her disappearance.

In the wake of the cancellation news, fans have since begun to start a campaign to bring the show back for a third season.

The hashtags #SaveTheOA, #TheOAIsReal and #WatchTheOA have become popular trending topics on social media site Twitter, with viewers sharing their own fan art, and encouraging others to watch the show.

A still from Netflix's The OA
Fans have started a campaign to bring the show back for a third season (Picture: Netflix)

A fan petition has also been circulating on Change.org, stating that the series ‘is such an important show to so many people.’

‘Brit and Zal spent so many countless hours creating this world and bringing it to life, hoping for five seasons. This world is full of love, acceptance, and bravery,’ the petition read.

‘Something we need to see more of on our screens. Science fiction brings their imagination to life, we have to continue this. To have it cancelled after two is such a shame.

‘The creators and fans of this show deserve to have the story finished.’

Although the show’s producers, Brit and Zal Batmanglij, intended for the series to consist of five seasons, Netflix announced the show’s cancellation on 9 August after just two seasons.

This has angered fans as they believed that due to the cliffhanger ending of the second season, the show could always come back for a third season via a parallel universe through the use of real world fan interaction.

However, with no word coming from Netflix since the cancellation announcement, the show is possibly gone for good.

Killing Eve season 3 confirms Eve is still alive as Sandra Oh smokes cigarette in chef’s outfit

Killing Eve - Sandra Oh - Season 3 filming
Eve survived her shooting – but looks like she’s hiding out as a chef (Picture: BBC; Backgrid)

***Warning: Killing Eve season 3 spoilers ahead***

Killing Eve’s Eve Polastri officially has more lives than a cat – just like Villanelle – after being seen alive and kicking shooting new scenes in London.

Sandra Oh was seen dressed in chef’s whites shooting new scenes for the smash-hit drama, with her character Eve appearing to have put her MI5 life behind her for something more simple.

And let’s be frank, she looks bored out of her damn mind.

Smoking a cigarette and staring blankly down the street, it’s clear that Eve may be safe in her new world, but she’s far from happy about it.

We still don’t know exactly how she managed to survive getting shot in the back by her cat-and-mouse chasing partner Villanelle (Jodie Comer), but at least we know she did.

Sandra Oh Smokes outside filming killing eve 3
Eve looks stressed out and bored in her new life (Picture: Backgrid)

Like anyone had any doubt, really. You can’t exactly have Killing Eve without Eve.

Eve and Villanelle, real name Oksana, didn’t leave things on the best of terms, with Villanelle shooting Eve after realising that she didn’t love her.

Their weird obsession with each other has reached fever pitch, and just like Eve left Villanelle for dead at the end of season one, she shot her in the back and left her to bleed out in season two.

Still no sign of Jodie Comer on set yet – so maybe Eve has managed to keep herself under the radar for now, but it’s clear that her life has gone quite literally down the kitchen sink.

With her husband definitely not taking her back any time soon, her co-worker Hugo was left for dead last time we saw him, and now getting on Villanelle’s bad side, Eve is in a very tricky spot.

So it turns out the best place to hide is south-west London in a pub…which is always good to know in case of emergencies.

Little is known about season three, but fans have been desperate to figure out how Eve manages to get out of her situation alive.

Sandra Oh Smokes outside filming killing eve 3
Eve is clearly not one for the quiet life (Picture: Backgrid)

Killing off one of The Twelve’s henchmen wasn’t going to end well for anyone, but then again, Raymond was pretty awful.

Ending him with an axe (yowch) with the help of Villanelle, the assassin thought Eve was finally on her side…only to discover she was sorely mistaken.

She was left lying face down in an abandoned ampitheater in the middle of Rome, having ducked behind do not cross signs in order to evade capture.

Unfortunately that didn’t make her the easiest to find in a bad state either.

Now we need to figure out what the hell the pair have planned next – and what Villanelle’s going to do when she realises her favourite toy to play with is still alive.

Killing Eve is available now on BBC iPlayer.

Love Island’s winter version ‘to have medics on standby to keep poisonous creatures away from stars’

Love Island’s winter version stars might have to face a few creepy-crawlies (Picture: ITV)

The stars of Love Island’s winter version won’t just risk a broken heart in the villa – apparently they’ll also have to battle poisonous spiders, crocodiles and snakes.

Sounds like a real recipe for romance, doesn’t it?

Sources claimed the series, which will be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa early next year, could feature cameos from black mambas, scorpions and even – brilliant – big cats.

Kind of makes you think this year’s lot were overreacting a tiny bit when a fly whizzed over their heads, doesn’t it?

Apparently, there’s such a genuine threat that wildlife experts will be on standby to help look out for any deadly creatures.

And don’t even think about an impromptu dip in the pool – housemates will reportedly be told to check that there’s nothing lurking in the water before diving in.

‘Health and safety experts will be specially drafted in to help look out for deadly snakes and other poisonous creepy-crawlies,’ a source told The Sun.

love island
Experts will apparently be on standby to identify snakes, spiders and scorpions (Picture: Rex)

‘There will be a specialist medic on hand, too, so contestants can get urgent medical attention. Plus, if necessary, facilities to chopper them to a local hospital.

‘This is a very different kettle of fish to filming in mainland Europe.’

The insider claimed contestants should also look out for scorpions and spiders that could be hiding in their shoes – a bite won’t kill them but it will put them in hospital.

Oh hey ho, all the best love stories start out in A&E anyway, don’t they?

Killing the mood even more are tips to wear long clothing, use protective sprays and check beds and cloths before getting dressed.

A ITV spokesman said: ‘As with all of our productions, the health and safety of both our cast and crew is our number one priority.’

So if you fancy fighting off spiders in a luxury villa, there’s still time to apply – and apparently it helps if you’re a twin, identify as a ‘goth girl’ or are from Essex.

Katherine Ryan makes shock Cheryl malaria gag
They say that laughter is the best medicine…

Katherine Ryan has come under fire after joking about Cheryl Cole’s near-fatal battle with malaria in 2010.

Showing that there was no such thing as a topic too sensitive to joke about, the Canadian stand up took a swipe at our Chez as she appeared on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, in an episode which airs on Friday at 10pm.

“The nation’s sweetheart,’ Katherine is reported as saying by The Sun.

‘She’s so tiny though. If she was born in the winter, she wouldn’t have made it. Tiny!’

‘And you just can’t knock her down,’ the Canadian comedian continued.

‘Even God tried. Malaria! She won’t die. She’s a very strong woman.’

Ouch…

Appearing alongside Scarlett Moffatt, Harry Redknapp, Tom Davis and Emeli Sande, the 36-year-old took further aim at The Greatest Dancer coach

‘She’s done more damage to the North East than Margaret Thatcher,’ Katherine joked.

While for many fans of Cheryl, the singer’s near-death experience after being infected by a mosquito in Tanzania was no laughing matter.

But some commenters were quick to point out that Katherine’s jokes may have been shocking for the audience, but they were nothing new, as the comedian had previously made similar comments when she appeared on Live at the Apollo in 2015.

As part of the BBC stand up show’s 11th series, Katherine described the Geordie singer as being ‘so beautiful it makes you forget she’s garbage,’ doubling down on her comments when recognising some discomfort among the audience.

‘Don’t feel bad,’ she said, ‘some of you feel bad. Cheryl Cole would glass each of you in an alley tonight.’

Sheesh!

Cheryl’s 2010 battle with the mosquito-born illness shocked the nation, especially as the star had climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with Comic Relief just the year before in order to raise money to buy mosquito nets.

‘It was the scariest thing you could ever imagine for me and for my friends and family,’ she recalled in a video for Sport Relief in 2014.

‘I was lucky; I had the best care I could get. Some people are not so lucky.

‘The pain I felt and went through, it’s what so many people go through, all because they don’t have a mosquito net which could save their life,’ she added.

Helen Mirren ‘loves’ The Crown amid speculation she could play The Queen once again

It’s a major role which has already delivered Dame Helen Mirren her biggest success in her long and esteemed acting career – so could she be tempted to wear the Crown once again?

Mirren earned worldwide acclaim for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears’ 2006 biopic The Queen, with the star being awarded the Oscar for Best Actress the following year for her role.

She also played the reigning monarch in the 2013 play The Audience, which was penned by The Queen and The Crown writer Peter Morgan.

Speculation is now beginning to mount that future seasons of The Crown – which will return to Netflix in November for a third season, with Olivia Colman taking over from Claire Foy as The Queen – could see Morgan reuniting with Mirren once again.

A role of a lifetime? It’s been so good to Mirren that she could reprise it once again (Picture: Pathe/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock)

Colman is expected to play Her Majesty in seasons three and four of The Crown, and it’s entirely likely that the role will again be re-cast for future seasons beyond that – with Mirren surely the obvious candidate to play the lead.

In a new interview with EW, Morgan claims that he hasn’t ‘begun to think’ about the cast for seasons five and six – but he did comment on Mirren’s big appreciation for The Crown.

‘She loves the show,’ Morgan, who apparently has not discussed casting with Mirren, said.

‘She thought there was nothing left to say, and I think she’s really surprised.’

Should it come to pass, Mirren may want to get some Crown transition tips from Colman – who admitted this week that it had been ‘horrendous’ trying to step into Foy’s shoes on The Crown.

The Crown season 3 begins on Netflix on 17 November.

Jamie Laing accused of having unfair advantage on Strictly after studying dance

Jamie may wow the judges, but will the audience be impressed? (Picture: Channel 4)

Jamie Laing has been accused of having an unfair advantage on Strictly Come Dancing, after it was revealed that he studied contemporary dance at university.

In an interview on The Greatest Dancer podcast earlier this year unearthed by The Sun, the Made in Chelsea star, who is dating co-star Sophie Habboo, revealed that he had taken the course as part of his theatre and performance degree at Leeds University.

‘When it came to finally enrolling in my course, people had already picked what they wanted to do and the only thing that was left was contemporary dance,’ Jamie admitted, but insisted that his dancing skill was not up to standard.

‘There is no technique to contemporary dance,’ he explained.

‘You can do anything you want… I feel like if you’re given some ribbons and you roll about on the floor, everyone is going to be like, “that is contemporary.”’

While many have criticised the 30-year-old Chelsea boy for having a leg up on the competition, the question has to be raised, as it always is around Strictly season, as to whether a background in dance is a help or a hindrance on the dance show.

Jamie Laing Strictly
Everybody sing: dah da da da dah da da, dah da da da dah (Picture: Rex)

Our immediate response is pretty obvious. Duh, of course it’s a help! Ballroom dancing is hard and having any sense of rhythm or movement will be hugely beneficial and help set Jamie apart from a total novice.

Where things get a lot more tricky is that, as much as they would all deny it, there aren’t many complete beginners on Strictly now.

As is the nature of the entertainment industry, most of the stars will have some kind of performance background, whether that be from drama school for the actors and presenters, childhood dance lessons or working as a musician or pop star.

In fact, in recent years we’ve really seen the tables turn on our Strictly stars, where previous dance experience is actually something of a disadvantage.

Strictly is a show about dancing and entertainment, but what audiences ultimately want to see from their winner is a journey; there’s no fun in watching someone who was good from the beginning continue to be good.

Over the last three series we have seen Ore Oduba, Joe McFadden and Stacey Dooley triumph and take home the Glitterball trophy, beating out some of the best contestants Strictly has ever seen in the form of Alexandra Burke, Danny Mac, Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer.

Jamie Laing and Tim Lovejoy 'Sunday Brunch'
The man’s got moves (Picture: Rex)

As soon as audiences know that the contestant has a dance background, it is often used against them, with social media playing a big part in this, so it’s definitely in the celebrity’s best interest to keep their talent under wraps.

This is why, when September rolls around and we meet Strictly stars for the first time, every celeb spends their initial VT declaring that they have two left feet and can’t dance to save their lives.

Voters don’t just want to see exquisite dancing, but crave heart, character and a journey. Jamie Laing may have taken a year’s worth of contemporary classes, but if anything, this may actually set him back in the competition.

Here’s hoping our Chelsea boy charms the nation enough that they don’t mind…

Sharon Tate’s sister cried at how much Margot Robbie sounded like tragic star in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Sharon Tate’s brutal murder was revisited in Quentin Tarantino’s new film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – with Margot Robbie taking on the role of the tragic star.

She was murdered by members of Charles Manson’s ‘family’, who stormed into her home back in 1969.

And Sharon’s sister, Debra, revealed she cried over how much Margot sounded like the late actress.

‘Actually Margot did an outstanding job,’ she told Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

‘At one point, when I was on set, I had her in my ear on a mic, and I actually shed a tear because she sounded just like Sharon.

‘It was very, very interesting and an opportunity to visit, again, with the live Sharon, not just the Sharon on the film screen.’

Debra also revealed she gifted Margot with some of her late sister’s jewellery and perfume, in a bid to help her relate to the actress more.

But she insisted this wasn’t her way of trying to keep Sharon ‘alive’.

‘Not at all, I’m very clear on the fact that my sister is dead,’ she continued. ‘However, I did want and [I think] did help Margot achieve a closeness to Sharon by having some of her very personal items with her. It somehow made it easier to keep on point, I’m just guessing…

‘I’m sure it helped her feel quite close to Sharon.’

Sharon’s body was discovered in her LA home, alongside the bodies of her friends, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Fryowski and Abigail Folger, in August, 1969.

Members of Charles Manson’s cult were later arrested for the crime, which shocked the world.

And Debra revealed she has never been able to get over what happened on that fateful night, 50 years ago.

‘I can recall it as if it was yesterday. Unfortunately salacious horror like this never leaves you, I wish I could say it did, but it does not. I can recall it as if it was yesterday,’ she said.

‘It’s very difficult to cope with it. The details of the brutality never, ever leave you. What does happen is you get more familiar with it and you come to terms with it a little better. It’s just as awful today, just as disgusting, barbaric as it was back in 1969.

‘It’s been quite miserable. Whether it be in motion pictures or books, most of the creators are trying to re-write history, even making it more salacious, if one would think that’s even possible.’

She said that, although the horrific events have been played out on screen and in books countless times, Quentin Tarantino was the only person to approach her family to discuss his plans for the film.

‘Quentin Tarantino was the first to come to the family members and speak to them, and take our feelings and knowledge into consideration,’ she added.

‘He did his due diligence and for that reason, I commend him.’

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is in cinemas now.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays, at 6am, on ITV.

Kaley Cuoco really wanted Jennifer Aniston for The Big Bang Theory and Friends crossover we all deserved and just imagine

Kaley Cuoco revealed who her dream The Big Bang Theory cameo would have been (Picture: CBS/Warner Bros.)

Kaley Cuoco has revealed who she wished made a cameo on The Big Bang Theory and we couldn’t agree more.

The Big Bang Theory managed to bag the greatest of the greats for appearances on the sitcom throughout its 12 seasons – Stephen Hawking, William Shatner, Mark Hamill and even actual Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Basically, whoever they wanted they got.

But what would happen if the biggest comedies of all time crossed paths, worlds collided and you had the Big Bang Theory and Friends mashup we all deserved?

Sadly, we’ll never know but Kaley wanted Jennifer Aniston to be that crossover and just imagine.

‘I love her so much, she’s also my style icon,’ Kaley enthused to AOL Entertainment. ‘I’m obsessed with her, because she’s always so effortless and cool. I don’t want to say that it looks like she doesn’t try, because she obviously tries, but she just looks like the coolest chick around.’

Friends star Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston is the only hero in the world who could have made Big Bang better (Picture: Broadimage Entertainment)

But the 33-year-old stressed TBBT couldn’t really have gone better, and struggled to pick her favourite moment.

‘There’s so many good ones,’ Kaley – who is about to star in the highly-anticipated Harley Quinn animation – pondered.

‘They’ve started to all run together but if I got way way back, I believe it was season one or season two — where Sheldon and Penny give each other Christmas gifts and Sheldon is so overwhelmed with love that the gift he received he hugs Penny. That was a special moment.’

‘And then honestly, the finale,’ Kaley continued. ‘It was so well done and it’s really hard to tie up 12 years of a show. It’s impossible and it’s a family. It’s hard to make everyone happy. So I think the writers did a really brilliant job and it felt good walking away knowing that that was the end.’

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix.

Mindhunter has returned to Netflix with more murder, intrigue and serial killers in season 2, which was released today (16 August).

The psychological thriller series, which is based on Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit – a book written by FBI agent John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker – will pick up several years after season 1.

Actors Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany will reprise their respective roles as FBI profilers Holden Ford and Bill Tench, and this time they’re investigating the Atlanta child murders, which took place between 1979 and 1981.

And fans will be pleased to hear that Ed Kemper, the serial killer and necrophile also known as ‘The Co-ed Killer’, will also return to the screen. But who plays this character and where have you seen him before?

Who plays Ed Kemper in Mindhunter?

The real Ed Kemper was a vicious killer from California who murdered 10 people, including his own mother and paternal grandparents, as well as several female hitchhikers.

In Mindhunter, he is played by break-out star Cameron Britton, who has been praised for his chilling portrayal of Ed, for which he received an Emmy Award.

The 33-year-old actor has had a string of TV gigs, including playing Hazel the assassin in Netflix’s Umbrella Academy and a recurring role as Tim in the American drama series Stitchers.

He has also appeared in movies such as Days Out Of Day, The Girl In The Spider’s Web – where he played the hacker named Plague – and All Earthly Constraints, which was released this year.

Cameron clearly has a knack for playing challenging roles.

Mindhunter season 2 is available to stream on Netflix now.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’ Paul Zerdin terrifies Charlotte Hawkins with puppet

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions star Paul Zerdin managed to terrify poor Charlotte Hawkins during his stint on Good Morning Britain, by taunting her with a puppet.

The ventriloquist, who has been confirmed as part of the line-up for BGT’s all-stars series, appeared on the show alongside ‘pals’ Albert and Sam.

But it all got a little weird when the 46-year-old directed Albert – and his mobility scooter – over to a terrified Charlotte, while Adil Ray cheered him on

‘Albert, can you go and say hello to Charlotte over there, because she loves you,’ the host instructed.

As she shook her head and stayed firmly in place, he said: ‘Charlotte, come and say hello. It’s a guest on the show, you’ve got to say hello.

‘You can’t be rude to our guest.’

Albert joked: ‘You know I can give her something younger men can’t…. A good night’s sleep.’

She’ll probably need one after the live nightmare you put her through, hun.

Paul was on the show to announce he would be taking part on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, but got a little sidetracked – thanks to Albert.

‘Since doing AGT, it did kick my career up the backside a bit,’ he told Adil and Kate Garraway. ‘Even though it was in America, it filtered back here, it helped my career enormously here.

‘We did Champions of Champions, and now we’re on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions!’

And Paul confessed the show – which has been pre-filmed – is definitely bigger than the American version.

‘They did the America’s Champions show and kind of learnt their lessons from that, and they’ve made the British one even bigger,’ he continued.

‘It’s bigger and better. Wembley Arena, it’s a big deal and it’s great to be a part of it.’

Puppet Sam agreed, adding: ‘You know what, I like being at home. In America it’s fantastic, but you’ve got to talk slower.’

The star won America’s Got Talent back in 2015, and returned for the all-stars series earlier this year.

However, after the 46-year-old was eliminated from the competition – eventually losing out to Shin Lim – he will be bringing his puppets to the UK version of the show.

He was joined on the pre-recorded show by Twist And Pulse, Diversity, Jai Williams and many other familiar faces.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions begins on 31 August, on ITV.

The Always Sunny In Philadelphia gang are back to their sniping best in new season 14 preview

‘This [is] about as Sunny as it gets’ is something that every fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia wants to hear ahead of the show’s forthcoming 14th season.

Creator and Mac star Rob McElhenney has shared a hilarious preview of a scene from the new season ahead of its US premiere next month (25 September), with the gang reunited around a dinner table and, yes, squabbling among themselves.

Posting on Instagram, McElhenney filmed a short clip from a screen in the show’s editing room, describing the snippet as ‘the Sunniest section of a very Sunny scene’.

And, yup, it’s pretty Sunny, alright, with Mac, Dennis, Dee, Charlie and Frank all sat around a table at a fancy restaurant sniping at one another.

‘We don’t want compliments, we want food,’ Dee states after the waiter (who Sunny fans will recognise as regular guest star Michael Naughton) offers them free side dishes. ‘If I wanted a compliment, I’d walk into a bar.’

That remark prompts eye-rolling and groans from the others, with Mac threatening to throw a full glass of water over her.

‘Don’t ask, just do,’ Dennis adds to Mac’s threat.

There’s then a bizarre exchange between Charlie and Frank about chewing up food and teeth-sharpening, which is, as McElhenney promises, ‘about as Sunny as it gets’.

Ahh, Sunny. It’s going to be good to have you back.

The show’s cast have been very keen to show fans BTS previews of season 14 in the lead-up to next month’s premiere, with McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson (Dee) and Charlie Day (Charlie) recently seen cry-laughing while watching Glenn Howerton (Dennis) film on set.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 14 kicks off on 25 September in the US, with episodes available to stream now on Netflix.

Tulisa open to shock X Factor return ahead of All Stars: ‘It’s something I love doing’

Tulisa left the X Factor judging panel in 2013, and has been linked with a return every year since.

And the 31-year-old – who recently released latest single Sipping – revealed she would be keen on a shock comeback to the ITV show.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, she told Adil Ray and Kate Garraway: ‘It’s definitely something I wouldn’t write off.

‘It’s incredible, I’ve loved being part of helping people with their careers. From Little Mix to Ella Henderson, it’s something I love and enjoy doing.’

And she also took a second to tease a potential N-Dubz reunion – after the We Dance On trio decided to go their separate ways back in 2011.

When asked if she would be reuniting with cousin Dappy and Fazer, she told the hosts: ‘It will happen, I just can’t put a time frame on it just yet.

Tulisa on Good Morning Britain
Tulisa revealed she would be up for an X Factor return (Picture: ITV)

‘But it will happen at some point.’

Bring. It. On.

Tulisa previously lifted the lid on a potential X Factor comeback, explaining she had had secret chats with producers on whether she could return over the years.

‘There have been years where I’ve spoken to them, [had meetings] and wanted the job [and] it’s not happened,’ she told Metro.co.uk.

‘It’s not something that I’m not shutting down, I would be open to it if they want to have a conversation with me but it’s just not at the forefront.

Tulisa on X Factor panel
Tulisa left the X Factor panel in 2013 (Picture: ITV)

‘It’s not on my radar basically. But if we have a phone call, ask me then, until that happens, it’s not something to think about.’

The Wouldn’t You star also revealed there is always hype whenever a seat becomes available on the panel – and is only linked to the show because of her previous stint.

‘It’s all just hype that I feel comes around every year,’ she continued. ‘Because every year when there’s ever a space on the panel, anyone that was a judge is a potential judge.

‘So people just love to like talk and cause a thing out of it.

Tulisa won X Factor with Little Mix

‘I haven’t even had a conversation with these people. So if anything’s going on, I am not involved in it and I do not have a clue.’

Seeing as she mentored Little Mix to the final, it’s no wonder people want her back!

And Tulisa explained she is still in a group chat with the Shout Out To My Ex singers, eight years after helping them win the show.

‘Everywhere I go and everywhere I look they’re doing amazing,’ she told the Loose Women panel.

‘Yeah, we have a little muffin group chat.’

Someone get us in that group chat immediately.

How did Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis meet, when did they marry and how many children do they have?

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are notoriously private about their life together.

Despite their best efforts, rumours constantly circulate, such as the story in June that claimed the pair had broken up – which they expertly shut down by sharing a video of themselves together.

The pair recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary and according to an entertainment source that spoke to People, all is well in paradise and ‘they are very happy’.

But how did these two lovebirds first meet? Well, they’re living proof that friends make the best lovers.

How did Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis meet?

They met on the set of That ’70s Show, a popular American sitcom that aired from 1998 to 2006.

Mila was just 14-years-old at the time and portrayed Jackie Burkhart, the love interest of Michael Kelso, played by Ashton – who was 19-years-old at the time.

They barely got to know each other before they shared their first kiss on the show. What makes their love story all that much sweeter is that this was young Mila’s first kiss ever.

Despite their on-screen chemistry, the pair didn’t get together until more than a decade later, although Mila did admit to People that she had ‘the biggest crush’ on him at the time.

Ashton went on to marry actress Demi Moore in 2005, but the marriage didn’t last and they went their separate ways in 2011 (though their messy divorce wasn’t until two years later).

That same year, Mila split from childhood star Macaulay Culkin, who she dated for nearly a decade.

It was as if the stars aligned for the couple. They reconnected in 2012, and soon after started dating.

When did Ashton and Mila get married?

Once the romance started, they moved quickly – quite literally; they moved in together just four months later in April 2012.

Ashton, 41, then popped the question to Mila, 36, in February 2014 and the couple got married in the summer of 2015.

In true Ashton-Mila style, it was such a secretive ceremony that it took months before the public found out.

How many children do Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have?

The couple actually had kids before they got married.

In May 2014, the Bad Moms actress announced that they were expecting during a guest appearance on The Ellen Show and Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher was born in September that year.

Two years later, she was joined by her baby brother, Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.

Suits fans spot Meghan Markle easter egg in final series

Suits pokes fun at Meghan Markle's royal lifestyle

Ever since she traded acting for royal life, rumours that Meghan Markle would be returning to her old show Suits have been circulating.

And on Wednesday night, fans were delighted to see the actress make a cameo in the legal drama’s final series… well, in joke form at least.

The Duchess appeared on Suits from 2011 to 2018 as paralegal Rachel Zane, before she left the show with her on-screen husband Mike Ross, to, y’know, become a princess.

However, Mike, played by Patrick J Adams, made a surprise appearance in Thursday night’s episode and treated fans to a nice little easter egg about the royal.

When asked by a colleague how his wife was doing, Mike simply replied: ‘If I told you how good, you probably wouldn’t believe me,’ in a moment we were disappointed didn’t come with a The Office-style look to camera.

Fans online went wild for the hidden message, which was a surefire reference to Meghan’s glo-up from ‘American actress and girl next door’ to ‘actual member of the British royal family.’

The theory was confirmed on the Suits Twitter page, who wrote: ‘Turns out Rachel is doing REALLY well,’ and accompanied their post with a wink emoji.

Suits returned to Netflix in the UK back in July for its ninth and final series, leaving speculation to rise as to whether the 38-year-old Duchess would return to her former stomping ground for one last time.

But despite remaining close friends with her castmates, many of whom attended her 2018 wedding (you might have heard of it?), an on-screen reunion seemed unlikely given the new mother’s hectic schedule.

‘Meghan remains close friends with many of the Suits cast and will send them her well wishes privately,’ a source told The Sun, adding that ‘any cameo appearance would be an unnecessary distraction at this point in time.’
